Je suis une québecoise qui veut partir au Guatémala cet été avec mon copain. Nous prévoyons partir 2-3 semaines au mois d'août. J'aimerais également pouvoir profiter des caraibes si possible !J'aimerais donc avoir quelques conseils à ce sujet. J'aimerais aussi une suggestion d'itinéraire et quelques trucs qui pourraient être importants.

je suis en pleine préparation de voyage tour du monde et je souhaite aller en Inde du Nord, Népal et tibet. Ce qui me pose problème ce sont les dates, en fontion de mon parcours je devrais y arriver en début Janvier et rester dans la région pendant deux mois, soit jusqu'en mars. Mais voilà j'ai peur que les conditions climatiques rendent cette région impraticable. J'ai besoin de votre avis.

Franchement, j'hésite. J'ai eu un tel plaisir en Equateur où j'ai notamment croisé quelques mammifères rares dans leur milieu naturel que ... j'ai peur d'être déçue. L'Amazonie équatorienne a été un tel enchantement!

On pense aller avec mon ami en forêt guyanaise mais j'apprends que, comme ils chassent les animaux, ceux-ci se cachent bien. Pourtant, le côté sauvage me semble chouette. Alors, j'entends qu'au Panama, les animaux ne sont pas farouches, qu'on peut même les approcher. Mais je n'ai pas étudié la question des guides et excursions... Finalement, un photographe animalier me conseille d'aller au Costa Rica. Vraiment, je n'arrive pas à me décider et j'espère que vous pourrez m'y aider.

Pour ceux qui sont interressés de savoir. Je reviens il y a 2 jours du Canoa Coral de Bayahibe. C'est un endroit que je recommande, le site est très très beau, la nourriture est bonne et variée, le personnel est super gentil, souriant tout le temps, très accueillant. La plage n'est pas trop grande mais ni trop petite et la mer est sublime. L'animation est super aussi. Enfin je recommande cet endroit à tous ceux qui ont envie de se reposer au soleil et à la mer. 😎

Comme j'ai bien profité de toutes les infos du forum avant de partir, je voulais juste vous donner un super hotel à l'ile maurice à faire avec un enfant: le COCO BEACH. J'en reviens, j'y ai passé une semaine de détente absolue puisqu'il y a un kid's club incroyable qui prend en charge les enfants autant que vous le voulez. Mon fils a 2 ans et demi et il ne voulait pas en partir. Il faut dire qu'il y a une activité différente toutes les demi- heure (poney, piscine, plage, chasse au crabe, mini- bowling, sortie en bateau à fond de verre etc...) et les animatrices sont d'une douceur et attention stupéfiantes!!! Il ya 3 plages de sable blanc, de la nourriture très bonne. Si vous êtes intéressé, n'hésitez pas à me demander des précisions.

Je pars bientot en lune de miel en Rep Dom. On m' a chaudement propose l'hotel a Punta Cana Secrets Excellence. Il parait qu 'il est fait specialement pour les couples et que toutes les chambres ont des jacuzzis.

Est ce que quelqu'un aurait des infos sur cet hotel????

Je viens de passer 15 jours au Brésil : Salvador, Brasilia, amazonie, ouro preto, iguacu et rio. Genial... J'ai l'impression d'avoir visité plusieurs pays en trés peu de temps. Le rythme était trés soutenu (11 avions différents en 15 jours), mais je suis passé d'une ville africaine à la forêt tropicale, de villes modernes ou coloniales baroques aux plus belles chutes d'eau du monde (j'ai vu niagara et victoria...)pour finir par la "ville merveilleuse"... j'ai chassé les piranhas et les caimans en amazonie, survolé les chutes d'iguacu en hélicoptère, navigué dans la baie de tous les saints à salvador, assisté à un spectacle de samba à rio, admiré les pierres précieuses et semi-précieuses dans le minas gerais😎, mangé dans des churascarias 😛, vu brasilia de la tour de la télévision (j'ai vu l'avion), dit bonjour au christ du corcovado, pris le petit train du pain de sucre et flané sur les plages de copacabana et ipanema En un mot : sublime Je craignais un peu avant de partir au sujet des problémes de sécurité. En étant normalement prudente (pas d'étalage de bijoux ou de dollars, sortie le soir uniquement en taxis, éviter les quartiers chauds...) j'ai passer ces 15 jours sans problémes. Les brésiliens sont accueillants (surtout si vous essayer de parler en "portugnol")et heureux de vivre... La temperature était idéale : entre 20 et 27° sauf amazonie : 32° Les paysages sont trés beaux et trés variés. Nous n'avons pas été trés génés par les moustiques en amazonie (un conseil pour choisir l'hotel de jungle : préférez un lieu situé sur le rio negro, les eaux noires attirent moins les moustiques que les eaux jaunatres), mais emmenez tout de même vos produits anti moustiques...

conclusion : allez au Brésil, vous ne serez pas déçus !😎

Pour la première fois de ma petite vie, je vais à Cuba la semaine débutant le 8 février. On me dit cependant que je devrais plutôt opter pour la République ou le Mexique puisque la température à Cuba est risqué.

Je projete de partir à l'ile de la renion avec mon fils. Avant de lire le guide je pensais partir de sept à avril, mais il est indiqué que c'est une mauvaise periode car c'est la saison des cyclones et des pluies. A quel moment precis commence cette periode et est-ce le cas pour l'ile maurice, car dans ces cas la je farais reunion3mois et maurice ou seychelles 3mois aussi. Je ne sais pas ce que ça represente comme danger mais je m'en soucis car mon fils n'a que 1an et demi. Pour ceux qui sont déjà parti sur ces iles, qui a-t-il à ne surtout pas loupé, mais attention de praticable avec un enfant! Merci Anne

Hi there, I’m planning a road trip to Quebec in late September/early October. Since I’m over 75, it’s impossible to rent a camper van. So, the option left is a car plus hotels. I’m used to traveling freely—I sketch out a rough route and stop wherever and whenever I feel like it. Is it possible during this period to travel without booking hotels/motels or B&Bs in advance, knowing I’ll only need a double room? Thanks for your replies.

I won’t be going back. I already felt guilty last August, but recent policies have finally convinced me: the humiliation of Zelensky, authoritarian excesses, Gestapo-like methods for detaining people of foreign origin, the murder of innocent people (a mother shot dead), corruption, insane "tariffs," skyrocketing healthcare costs for Americans, the abduction of foreign figures to secure oil, the requirement to disclose social media accounts, and now... threats and blackmail to forcibly take Greenland—a region that belongs to Denmark and thus the European Union!

The reality is that simply posting this could get me denied entry to the U.S.!

In this context, I just can’t keep spending money there. I loved my trips, but there are so many other countries with stunning landscapes to explore.

So I get why you’d want to travel there. I did, and I loved it. But once a country no longer respects any of the values that made us love it, why go?

How can we even consider traveling to a country that threatens to take one of our territories by force?

Hi, Back from South Africa since 24/10/25, we’re having trouble getting our deposit back after renting a car at Cape Town Airport with Pace Car Rental through Carwiz! It’s still a sum over 1000 €!! Lots of email exchanges via WhatsApp where they send me the refund proof dated 25/11, but my bank can’t find any trace of it!! Just to clarify, the car was returned without a scratch, as they confirmed! Has anyone else run into this issue with this rental company, or others for that matter? And if it’s a scam, what are the possible courses of action? I’m hoping there are some… I was thinking of contacting our Consulate in Cape Town to see if they can help with the next steps or even intervene with this rental company! This kind of practice isn’t going to help boost tourism relations with South Africa!! Thanks for your feedback, Dan

We’re planning our second trip to South Africa in July 2026. In 2023, we did a loop from Joburg, Golden Gate, Drakensberg, Hluhluwe, St Lucia, Eswatini, Kruger, Blyde River Canyon, and back to Joburg. This time, we’d like to go to Cape Town and do a road trip to Port Elizabeth, then fly back to Joburg to return to Kruger. At this stage of my planning, here’s what it could look like:

D1 to D4: Cape Town and Cape of Good Hope (Table Mountain, Lion’s Head, Waterfront, Bo-Kaap, Boulders, Cape Point, Chapman’s Peak Drive). I’ve spotted a few places to stay between Camps Bay and Hout Bay (3 nights). D5 and D6: Either Karoo NP or Hermanus and De Hoop. Any opinions to tip the scales? I’ll admit I’m already leaning toward Karoo (the "wild" vibe of the landscapes and wildlife encounters appeal to me much more than the seaside, which feels less exotic). If we go for Karoo, where should we stay? Inside the park or in Beaufort West? I’ve seen good reviews for Ko-ka Tsara Bush Camp, but maybe it’s better to stay in the Sanparks cottages to make the most of the park? (2 nights) Option B is to do Stellenbosch (though vineyards aren’t great in winter) and/or the Whale Route—Betty’s Bay, Hermanus, De Hoop (2 nights near Gansbaai). D7 and D8: Klein Karoo, Oudtshoorn. Staying at De Cango Guest Farm (2 nights). D9 and D10: Knysna, Robberg Nature Reserve, Tsitsikamma (2 nights in Plettenberg Bay and 1 night in PE). D11: Flight from Port Elizabeth to Joburg at 7 AM and drive to Marloth Park.

For Kruger, I’ve booked 2 nights in Marloth Park, 1 night in Skukuza, 2 nights in Satara, and 1 night in Talamati, which we loved. I’ll book the last night in Graskop later since we want to revisit the Blyde Canyon area.

I’d love all the feedback you can give on my itinerary, especially for days 5 and 6. If you have recommendations for accommodations for 4 people, I’d appreciate those too. Thanks! 🙂

We’re heading to Quebec in just over a week to meet up with our son, a young adult on a Working Holiday Visa who’s been there for nearly a year 🙂🙂🙂 and I still have a few questions:

1) We’re starting with 3 nights near Shawinigan (Lac à la Tortue). The day after we arrive, we’ll have a relaxed day with one or two activities (sugar shack in St-Mathieu-du-Parc? A seaplane ride?). Any other suggestions? (Besides Parc de la Mauricie, which we’ll visit the next day.)

2) Then, we’ll head to Quebec City via the Chemin du Roy, where we’ll spend 3 nights, followed by a scenic drive to La Malbaie. We’ll be staying in St-Aimé-des-Lacs near Hautes-Gorges de la Malbaie National Park for another 3 nights. One day will be dedicated to hiking in the park—likely the Acropole des Draveurs for our son, and the Riverain trail plus two shorter walks for my husband and me, since he can’t use hiking poles. So, I’m unsure about the second day: should we go back to the park for the cruise, or do something else nearby? Any suggestions?

3) After St-Aimé-des-Lacs, we’ll spend 3 nights in Tadoussac. We’ll definitely stop at Port-au-Persil, but since the drive isn’t too long, we’ll arrive pretty quickly (I think you say "rendu" here 😉). I was thinking of exploring Tadoussac that day, doing the Pointe de l’Islet trail, the Estuary trail, and the Dunes lookout. The second day, we’d head toward Les Bergeronnes and Les Escoumins to visit the interpretation center and take a Zodiac cruise. I was considering Neptune because they offer covered boats. Any other options? And on the third day, we’d go to Sainte-Rose-du-Nord via the Saguenay Fjord National Park’s Baie Sainte-Marguerite sector to hike part of the "Le Fjord" trail from the Beluga Observation Center. I’m aware this trail requires a park access fee. However, I just realized that the trails we planned for the first day (Estuary and Pointe de l’Islet) are also part of the Tadoussac sector of the park. Do we need to pay the access fee (10.10 CAD) for these two short trails? If so, it might make sense to do them on the third day. In that case, can we pay the fee in Tadoussac, then head to the Baie Sainte-Marguerite sector and use the same ticket?

We’re back from our 3-week trip to South Africa in July. It was a family trip with our four grown-up kids (ages 18 to 25).

First off, I’d like to thank everyone on this forum for their great tips—they really helped us plan this trip!

The trip: We spent 15 days between Port Elizabeth and Cape Town, then a week around Kruger (including Blyde River Canyon). We found South Africans to be welcoming and always ready to help. We never felt unsafe (just followed basic safety rules). The police are very visible, especially on the roads.

Logistics: We’d booked our accommodations in advance but made a few changes on the spot based on how we felt at the time. We rented two vehicles from Firefly (Hertz). No complaints—recent cars, quick returns, and the deposit wasn’t charged. We’d gotten our international driver’s permits... which stayed in France! Luckily, no one asked for them. Driving on the left wasn’t an issue (it wasn’t our first time). The roads we took were in good, even great, condition. Only a few tracks to lodges or parks were rough and required extra caution. Lots of pedestrians on the sides of roads, even highways. And plenty of very slow trucks. But they pull over to let you pass. It’s also common for cars to cross into the opposite lane to overtake, even with white lines. We took two domestic flights: one early in the morning (Johannesburg to Port Elizabeth) and one in the late afternoon (Cape Town to Johannesburg) to save time.

We had some highlights and a few disappointments—all part of the journey! More details coming soon.

Hello, We’re heading to Finnish Lapland near Rovaniemi as a family at the end of February with two kids (8 and 14 years old). We’ve got direct flights with Luxairstours. The itinerary is already set, but I’m wondering if anyone has traveled with Luxair before and knows exactly what kind of clothes they provide on the second day? The agency just told me it’s a heavy-duty cold-weather suit. I’m thinking we should get Sorel Caribou boots, maybe second-hand. Here’s what I’ve already planned: - Thermolactyl leggings and tights from Damart for the whole family as a base layer. - A first layer of Damart socks + Nordic Stocks socks in 70% merino wool for all four of us. - Loose fleece layers, including some Polartec. - Ski pants for hikes. - For my son and me, a The North Face Himalayan down parka with a hood. - A ski parka for my husband and my 14-year-old daughter (she *really* wants a Roxy one—I hope it’ll be warm enough). - For myself, for the flight and the first day at Santa’s village, I’ve packed The North Face winter hiking pants, a long-sleeve merino wool top from Decathlon (thin), a fleece, and my big parka.

I’m wondering if I should just pack fleece joggers or sweatpants for the kids and my husband, at least for the first and last days, to be comfortable on the plane? I’m also planning to buy balaclavas and neck warmers in addition to our beanies, as well as mittens for all of us. I really need advice because I have no idea—I’ve never been skiing! Also, for a 4-night, 5-day trip, should I pack a second set of base layers, like from Odlo?

Of course, I’ll be leaving cotton clothes out of the suitcase.

As you can tell, I’m someone who gets cold easily—especially my feet, hands, and ears—so that’s my biggest worry. I *don’t* want to be cold, even at -20°C during dog sledding, snowmobiling, or aurora hunting when we might be standing still. We won’t be in the city, and the kids will likely spend most of their time outside, as they usually do.
