On vas arriver de nuit a bangkok millieu janvier pour 5 sem est-ce qui quelqun qui connais un guesthouse sympa dans khao san, on veut prendre le train denuit pour chiang mai est-ce securitaire, on veut aller voir les femmes au long cou a mae hong son, et une balade a dos d'elephant, j'ai pas mon visa pour laos est ce mieux le prendre a Bangkok ou Chieng kong, on veut descendre le mekong en bateau jusq luang prabang. merci des conseil

Nous partons ma femme et moi en Thailande début novembre et débutons notre périple d'un mois par Bangkok. Après recherche dans le Lonely Planet et le Routard pour trouver une guest house où se poser quelques jours, nous hésitons encore. Nous préfèrerions éviter Khao san road et pourtant la situation semble idéale. L'un d'entre vous connaîtrait-il la perle rare à Bangkok? A savoir la guest house intimiste, chaleureuse, propre, calme et bien entendu à prix abordable. Je sais j'en demande peut être un peu beaucoup mais bon ... Quel quartier me conseillez-vous ? Salut tout le monde, En janvier ou fevrier, Yumie et moi partons pour 6 mois en ASE. Arrivant a Bangkok, on veut visiter le nord est puis passer la frontiere a Chong Mek pour Pakse, au Laos. Bon voila, en lisant mon guide et en vous lisant j' ai retenu:khao yaiprasat phanum rungla cote de nong khai a chiang khan ( merci Alan )

Le probleme est evident: Ca manque de lien tout ca !!!

Et puis si quelqu' un peut me suggerer une boucle a faire a moto pour qques jours au depart d' une des villes toujours dans le meme coin.

Je pars en thailande cet été, et si mes envies de visites s'affinene, elles sont encore nombreuses : le nord (ayuthaya, phitsanulok, sukhothai, chiang mai), le sud est et les temples khmer et pousser jusqu'à angkor, le parc de khao yai, et peut être quelques jours à la plage... consciente que tou ceci ne peut être apprécié en seulement 3 semaines, que conseilleriez vous ?

Connaissez vous l'hotel Le Trang hotel à bangkok et le Sawasdee Khaosan Inn à Bangkok aussi ?

Deplus etes vous déja passes par des site de résa en ligne ?

Je prépare un petit séjour de 3 semaines en Thailande au mois de novembre. Autant, il a été facile de determiner l'itinéraire "culturelle" de notre périple autant j'hésite pour le choix de la partie "farniente" (faut bien se reposer un peu avant de retourner bosser...)

Après de nombreuses recherche, il semble qu'Hat Khao Lak soit un endroit sympa et un epu moins touristique que Phuket... qu'en pensez-vous ? Connaissez vous des endroits bien sympa qui ne ressemblent pas à La Grande Motte en plein mois d'aout ?

Il parait également que certaines plages de la cote ouest de PHUKET (Kamala ou Naithon...) sont plus sympa et moins grouillante que les "ghettos à touristes" dans lesquelles les agences de voyages envoient leurs clients... Quelqu'un aurait-il des infos ?

S.V.P un conseil pour mon voyage du mois d'août au sud de la thailande. Nous partons avec nos grands garçons de 16-18 ans qui sont maniaques du snorkeling. Nous avions envisagé partir de bangkok(4 nuits)puis louer une voiture, arrêt 2-3 nuits à cha-am, 3 nuits à khao lak, plusieurs à Kamala beach(Phuket), 3 à ko phi phi, nous repartons de Phuket en avion. Mais je n'ai aucune idée de la qualité des fonds à cette époque de l'année, l'eau est-elle trouble? Sinon je suis ouverte à toutes vos suggestions. Partir du Québec est un très long voyage, nous voudrions pas être déçu. Aidez-moi s.v.p., votre expérience serait fort apprécié.

Je pars en Thaïlande en mars pour la 1ere fois. J'aurais voulu des avis sur les différents quartiers de Bangkok pour choisir une guesthouse.

Tout le monde parle de khao san road mais je crois que j'aurais voulu quelque chose de plus...typique ou dépaysant. Et je pense que Chinatown conviendrait un peu plus à ce que je recherche...Quel est votre avis sur ces deux quartiers, et est-ce que chinatown est facile pour les touristes parlant moyennement bien anglais. Car si je cherche à éviter le côté TROP touristique de khao san, je voudrais quand même un coin un minimum touristique, ne serait-ce que pour ne pas trop galèrer.

Je sais que khao san est animée le soir, en est-il de même pour le quartier chinois?

Si vous avez également des trucs à voir ou à faire qui vous ont beaucoup plu ça m'intéresse. Mais pas forcément des monuments car si je compte aller voir les principaux, ce qui m'intéresse davantage c'est l'ambiance (de certains quartiers), les paysages (vus des khlongs), ...

Mais s'il y a des monuments que je dois absolument privilégier par rapport à d'autres, votre avis est le bienvenu; si vous avez repérer un marché particulièrement typique, coloré, animé, etc, également.

Bref je reste à peine 3 jours sur Bangkok et si je pouvais ne pas passer à côté de choses essentielles ça serait génial!

We’re planning a trip to Thailand for next summer. It’s the rainy season, but that’ll let us explore forest parks (Khao Yai and Khao Sok, most likely) in full bloom and teeming with wildlife. We’d also like to spend a few days on beaches with nearby coral reefs during this trip. That’s where we’re hitting a snag—I’m struggling to find an island or region with favorable weather. I’ve gone through quite a few threads on this forum, but most are pretty old and mention a few names (Tao, Phaluai, Ma, or Phang Nga), though with doubts about visibility or overall appeal. Crowds also seemed like a bit of an issue. Just to clarify, our family has mixed interests when it comes to fish-related activities—some are Level 1 divers, while others are snorkelers only.

We’re planning our second trip to Thailand (2 weeks on-site, late April/early May) as a family with our kids.

On our first trip, we visited Bangkok, Ayutthaya, the River Kwai, Koh Lipe, Koh Phi Phi, and Khao Lak. We especially loved Koh Phi Phi for its limestone cliffs and lush vegetation, as well as Koh Lipe for its crystal-clear waters and snorkeling.

This time, we’d like a trip more focused on nature. We don’t want to visit any cities (maybe a floating market if it’s really worth the detour).

We’re looking for:

- Spectacular jungle; - Animals in their natural habitat; - Beautiful hikes or boat rides; - Paradise-like beaches; - Turquoise water with excellent snorkeling, preferably directly from the beach (turtles, tropical fish, etc.).

We’re thinking of including Khao Sok, but we’re unsure which islands to combine with this park.

Do you have any suggestions for 2-week itineraries with reasonable travel times? We’re prioritizing landscapes, nature, and the sea above all else.

What do you recommend visiting in Bangkok over 2 days during a cruise stop in January?

We have the opportunity to get away for a little two-week trip at the very beginning of January, just the two of us, without our kids. Because of the kids, we haven’t traveled much in Asia, so we’d love to take advantage of their absence to explore Thailand. Even though I’m used to planning our trips, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed this time.

We’d like to visit Bangkok and head south by renting a car (we have an international driver’s license, and my husband has driven on the left before). I’ve managed to sketch out a rough itinerary that might work for us, and I’d love to hear your thoughts.

To set the scene: we haven’t booked anything yet, we don’t like spending hours on the beach (though a little time at the end of the day is fine), we love walking and sightseeing, and what we enjoy most is being independent (so if we can avoid group tours, that’s ideal).

After that intro, here’s the rough outline of our itinerary: Day 0: Paris-Bangkok flight Days 1, 2, and 3: Bangkok (Wat Pho, Grand Palace, Wat Arun, markets, boat ride through the khlongs, Jim Thompson House) Day 4: Ayutthaya Day 5: Pick up a rental car and head to Sam Roi Yot Day 6: Sam Roi Yot and Prachuap Khiri Khan Day 7: Drive south – overnight near Surat Thani Day 8: Uthayan Tham Khao Na Nai, then drive to Ao Nang (staying near Tubkaek) Days 9 and 10: Boat trips (Railay, Ko Hong, etc.) Day 11: Drive to Phang Nga with a few stops along the way Day 12: Boat tour (mangroves and Ko Tapu) Day 13: Drive to Phuket Airport and return flight

A few questions and doubts: - I’d considered Cheow Lan Lake but read some not-so-great reviews (crowds, just 3 viewpoints, and the rest was meh). What do you think? - Can we start from Ao Thalane Pier for trips to Ko Hong and Ko Tapu? - I’m not thrilled about driving through Bangkok, but I’m not sure where to rent a car west of the city (since we won’t return it to the same place, I assume it’s best to target rental companies at airports).

I’ve already visited quite a few countries across several continents, but I’m pretty new to Asia.

I’m planning a trip to Thailand in October or November, and I wanted to check about health precautions: malaria treatment, vaccinations (hepatitis A or others...). I’ll mostly be in the northern region, around Chiang Mai, where I’ll spend a lot of time in nature and the mountains. Then I’ll head south to Phuket or Krabi and visit Khao Sok National Park. I’ll finish up in Bangkok, with a likely detour to Kanchanaburi.

From what I understand, for a stay of less than 60 days, I don’t need a visa (I’m a French national)? I just need to fill out the TDAC form 3 to 5 days before arrival?

Hi there, I’m planning to stay in Mae Hong Son for 4 days and Pai for 3 or 4 days to explore both towns and their surroundings. I’m not renting a car or scooter—I like to travel at a relaxed pace...

I’d love to know if it’s possible to do quite a few walks on foot from both towns and if it’s easy to find a tuk-tuk for the day to go a bit further.

I’ve heard that biking is really only for brave cyclists, which definitely isn’t me!

Hi there, I’ve been visiting Thailand for about twenty years now. We’ve been there around 5-6 times, always spending 2-3 days in BKK and then heading to Koh Samui. This year, we wanted to explore the southeast coast of Thailand for a change—from Hua Hin down to Surat Thani. We were strongly advised against going any further south.

However, we noticed that the beaches in Hua Hin aren’t exactly stunning, and the further south you go, the more beautiful they get—white, fine sand like in Samui. Do you have any recommendations for gorgeous beaches along this coast? Thanks!

I’m so happy Voyage Forum is back—it helped me plan trips (USA, Canada) a good ten years ago, and I love the quality of the discussions and the forum’s vibe. I’m currently putting together our itinerary for our first trip to Thailand from March 6th to 20th, arriving and departing from Bangkok, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and advice. I haven’t booked hotels or transfers yet. We’re traveling as a couple (ages 56 and 58). Our goal isn’t to "see it all" but to take our time. We love big cities, visiting museums, architecture, soaking up local life, walking, nature, swimming, and a bit of relaxation. Here’s how I’m envisioning the itinerary:

Are foreigners targeted or profiled when driving a rental vehicle?

The routes I’d be taking aren’t in Phuket itself—Phuket would just be the arrival point—but rather around Khao Lak, Krabi, Surat Thani, and the inland areas in that region.
