Bon là j'ai besoin de savoir si je dois m'inquiéter. Je suis allée voir le site du ministère des affaires étrangères et sérieux ils m'ont vraiment foutu la chienne pour le Honduras et le Nicaragua. Dois-je vraiment m'inquiéter pour ce qui s'agit des agressions sexuelles, vols à mains armées, détournements d'autobus et accidents d'autobus dues aux routes suicidaires...? Je pars avec une de mes amie de filles et on est pas très grandes et fortes les deux, de plus il a y a juste moi qui a suivit un petit cours d'espagnol au cégep c'est tout, alors j'aimerais savoir votre avis. Nous allons déjà au Costa-Rica mais on se demandait si ce n'était pas mieux de changer et de faire le C-R et le Panama. bref écrivez le plus vite possible parce qu'on veut acheter nos billets d'avion bientô! MERCI!

J'envisage de partir à la découverte du Sri lanka dans quelques mois, 😛

Je voulais juste partager une info que j'ai eu ce matin. En faite, je suis allée chercher un billet d'avion pour partir en Equateur, pas compliqué, pas trop cher.... mais à ma grande surprise la personne du comptoir m'a annonce que depuis julliet on a le droit que à 20 kg pour les bagages en soute, peu importe le nombre de bagages, mais pas plus de 20 kg et que le kilo extra coute 43 euros!!! C'est du VOL ! Pour info pour les vols long courrier, avant on avait le droit à 2 bags à 30 Kg, ça veut dire 60Kg.

Hi there, My partner and I are planning to travel during the last week of August and the first two weeks of September for a trip to Bali and Lombok. In terms of time allocation, do you think we should spend more time in Bali or Lombok?

I’ve already been to Bali back in 2012 and have great memories of it, but it seems like mass tourism has only increased since then… so we’d rather avoid the south of the island.

We’re pretty skeptical about visiting Ubud, but it still feels like a must-see, especially for my partner who’s never been. What do you think? Is there an alternative to Ubud where he could still catch at least one Balinese dance performance?

Hello, I’d like to go to Morocco with my 10-year-old daughter for three weeks in February. Do you think, as women traveling alone, we’ll feel comfortable? Sorry if my question seems odd, but when I mentioned my plans, I got some hesitant reactions. I’ve never been to North Africa. I’ve traveled several times to the Sultanate of Oman, where I felt very at ease as long as we respected the basic cultural norms. For those who know Morocco, do you think it’s different? I was thinking of arriving in Agadir and spending a few days in Taghazout and the surrounding area. After that, if you have any tips, I’m all ears. We’re looking to discover Moroccan cultures, see artisans at work, or even try our hand at a local craft—we’d love that. Simply meeting families, seeing landscapes, animals, and soaking in the culture gently, opening ourselves to something new—that’s what motivates us. And if there are opportunities to listen to local music, even better.

We’re heading to Thailand with our four kids (ages 18, 17, 12, and 10) from August 3rd to 15th, 2026. I’ve been there twice before, but that was over 20 years ago, so I’m completely out of the loop !

We arrive in Bangkok on the morning of the 3rd and leave on the evening of the 15th.

Here’s our rough itinerary—I’d love your thoughts: 1 night in Bangkok on the 3rd (with a little sightseeing during the day), then the Grand Palace, reclining Buddha, and a floating market on the 4th. On the evening of the 4th, we take an overnight train to Chiang Mai. We’ll stay in Chiang Mai from the 5th to the 8th. On the evening of the 8th, we take an overnight train back to Bangkok. On the morning of the 9th, we head to Koh Samui. We’ll stay there from the 9th to the 12th, then return to Bangkok on the 13th. We’ll spend the afternoon of the 13th, the 14th, and the 15th in Bangkok before flying back to France 🙁.

So here are my questions: - Do you think this "itinerary is doable"? - Do you think it’s necessary to travel first class, or is second class with Air Co sufficient for the Bangkok to Chiang Mai trip? - Any recommendations for a great hotel with a pool, super central, so we can do most things on foot and visit the night market in Chiang Mai? - Any recommendations for a great hotel with a pool, super central, so we can do most things on foot and visit the night market in Bangkok? - Any recommendations for a great hotel with a pool, super central, so we can do most things on foot and visit the night market in Koh Samui?

First attempt at a travel journal for me and first post after 7 years away from this forum. 😮 I went to the island of La Palma for 15 days in September 2025. After visiting Lanzarote in February, I was looking for a different and greener island. Well, I wasn’t disappointed. 😎

We stayed in Breña Baja on the east coast of the island, 5 minutes from the airport. This choice was mainly motivated by the desire not to change accommodation during the stay and to be in a "central" location close to amenities. It worked out well, but if I were to do it again, I’d split the stay in two by getting another place in the north of the island to explore that area, which really appeals to me. Note that the island is "climatically divided in two": the west coast is sunnier and drier, while the east coast is often foggy or cloudy. It’s quite impressive when you come out of the LP-3 road tunnel connecting the two sides—you feel like you’ve changed regions even though it’s less than 3 km apart.

Flight options weren’t plentiful (no direct flights from France), so I went with Iberia, connecting in Madrid for 250 € round-trip per person excluding checked baggage (80 € round-trip for one 23 kg suitcase on this route). Make sure to buy the checked baggage at the same time as your flight, as it’ll cost about 15 € more if you add it later. I booked the tickets 5 months in advance directly on Iberia’s website. You could also take a low-cost airline to Tenerife or Gran Canaria and then a flight with a Canarian carrier, but in my opinion, that only makes sense if you’re visiting one of those islands first, as the connection isn’t "guaranteed." The ferry is an option from Tenerife (about 2.5 hours crossing).

Our departure from Lyon was initially scheduled for 6 AM but took off at 9 AM so the crew could rest after the late arrival of the previous flight. This let us grab breakfast on the airline’s dime—thanks, EU Regulation (EC) No 261/2004. 😉 Iberia took a week to reimburse me after I submitted my passport, receipts, and bank details via their online claim form.

Our small but spacious CRJ-1000 Air Nostrum Bye-bye, Bugey nuclear plant And hello, Madrid—or rather, its very dry region. Our layover was initially 4 hours but shrank to 1 hour due to the previous flight’s delay. That worked out for us because Terminal 4 at Barajas is way less comfortable for resting than Lyon’s T1.

Landing with a view of Playa de la Cangrejera and del Pozo. When I say the east coast is often cloudy... 😇 First sight of "plátano" plantations. Banana farming makes up 50% of the island’s GDP!

This trip to Egypt isn’t happening anytime soon, but I like to plan a few steps ahead! 😉

I’ve already been to Egypt several times (Cairo, Alexandria, Luxor, the classic cruise, the Lake Nasser cruise, Abu Simbel, Taba) both solo and on organized tours, but my partner hasn’t.

So, I’m thinking of mixing the classic with something a bit more original.

My idea is to visit Cairo and its surroundings, then make my way to Luxor in stages. The trip would end in Luxor.

Renting a car doesn’t seem like a viable option. That leaves boats, public transport, a car with a driver, or even a private tour for the stretch between Cairo and Luxor.

My questions:

How can I cover the Cairo-Luxor stretch if I go through the White Desert? Is a car with a driver possible? What’s the daily cost of hiring a car with a driver (including the driver’s accommodation and expenses)? How many days should I plan for this route (Saqqara, Fayoum Oasis, Black Desert, White Desert, Ad-Dakhla, El Kharga)?

Are there any cruise boats that do the Cairo-Luxor route (or vice versa)? Dahabiyas? Or at least the Assiut-Luxor stretch?

My wife and I took American Airlines flight no. 63 on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 9:30 AM, with a scheduled arrival in Miami at 1:30 PM local time.

After about half an hour of flight, a young passenger had a medical emergency. They were given care, and a flight attendant went to get an oxygen bottle. Then, an announcement over the loudspeakers informed passengers that the plane was diverting to London.

Once at London Heathrow (LHR), we were waiting to depart again. But a new announcement asked us to disembark because the plane wouldn’t be able to take off until the next day. (American responded to my follow-up, saying they’re required to limit their staff’s working hours to a certain number per day.)

A crowd of travelers gathered at the American Airlines counter, where they were told to follow instructions to get to a hotel. Meanwhile, I called the airline’s customer service to find a replacement flight that same day, since I couldn’t afford to leave the next day. If I had, I would’ve lost my hotel and car rental reservations due to late cancellation, which would’ve cost me a significant amount.

After discussing in English with customer service and the counter staff (who I handed my phone to), we managed to get two seats on British Airways flight BA 0209, which was leaving about 2 hours later.

That’s how, after a stressful wait unsure if we’d get our luggage back, and once we did, we hurried—heavily loaded—to reach the far-off terminal for our new boarding on foot and by train shuttle.

We finally took off for Miami and landed around 7:30 PM, which was 6 hours later than the originally scheduled arrival time of American Airlines flight 63.

On top of the stress, there were the costs of meals in the meantime, and I had to notify the hotel and car rental company about our delay.

As a result, I requested compensation for a flight delay of at least 3 hours (and I’ve involved my insurance’s legal protection to pursue this claim). American Airlines argued that exceptional circumstances prevented them from compensating me.

What do you think? Is my request unreasonable?

I really, really want to go back to China, but since the country is evolving at lightning speed, I’m wondering. I went there nearly 20 years ago. It was already undergoing a lot of changes, slowly but surely, but I still have wonderful memories of the country, which I found so endearing at the time. I visited Beijing, Sichuan, Guangxi, Hainan, and also Tibet by train, then Xinjiang. Now, we’re mainly considering Gansu and Hunan.

It was still possible to get 60-day visas back then, which isn’t the case anymore since they’re now limited to 30 days. But at the same time, the country seems more accessible. Many hotels are open to foreign tourists, sophisticated transport options have developed everywhere, and it’s possible to visit for up to 15 days without a visa... Tourists can easily travel by train or plane, but to reach places "off the beaten path," it seems you need to rent a vehicle with a driver. There used to be plenty of day-trip group tours, but that doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

It’s hard to find info on whether certain routes are feasible for independent travel.

From what I’ve gathered here and there, "high tech" has taken over the entire country, the countryside has given way to imposing buildings, cities are increasingly industrialized and polluted—basically, the country has become dehumanized... In short, are there still beautiful places left—dare I say preserved—to see?

Add to this the bad reputation, not always justified, that China suffers from. It seems like the country is being boycotted by travel agencies, as if it’s not "politically correct" to visit. Maybe I’m exaggerating, but I’ve noticed this with French agencies like Nomade, Allibert, etc., which used to offer a wide range of itineraries everywhere, especially in Yunnan. Now, they’ve limited themselves to the classics: Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, water towns, or Tibet. Yunnan, Gansu, Qinghai, and many other Chinese provinces are no longer on the menu. Maybe it’s due to COVID...

The destination isn’t exactly a hit on forums either...

So, is it still worth going in 2025? I’d love to hear from those who’ve been there recently. Looking forward to exchanging thoughts on this fascinating destination (from my point of view, of course).

Nous devions partir le 9/06 pour Naples et suite à l'annulation du vol, j'ai introduit une demande de remboursement.

Ne voyant toujours rien venir, je suis allée voir mon compte Ryanair pour voir où en était ma demande et aucune trace de ce vol annulé. Lorsque je tape mon numéro de réservation, il y a un message d'erreur comme s'il n'y avait jamais eu de réservation, et donc pas de remboursement possible. La seule chose que j'ai est le mail de l'annulation et un print de ma demande de remboursement.

Si votre vol a été annulé, pouvez-vous me dire si vous en voyez la trace sur votre compte Ryanair ?

D'autre part, dans une autre discussion, un voyageur donnait un nr gratuit chez Ryanair où il avait eu quelqu'un qui a procédé au remboursement, mais il s'agit d'un nr français. Est ce que des voyageurs belges ont des tuyaux pour parvenir à les contacter ?

Hello les voyageurs, Je voulais savoir si certaines d'entre vous avaient déjà rencontré des soucis au Belize ? Je ne suis pas du tout de nature méfiante, je voyage souvent sans d'ailleurs faire assez attention. Il ne m'est jamais rien arrivé de négatif en voyage, si ce n'est au Belize. J'étais allée avec ma meilleure amie (depuis le Mexique car nous habitions là-bas). Nous avions une chambre d'hôtel basique. Durant la nuit, un homme (un voleur bien connu de la ville), est entré dans notre chambre et nous a volé toutes nos affaires de valeur. Nous l'avons vu mais au moment où il repartait. C'était trop tard. Ce qui est dingue dans cette histoire, c'est que cet homme avait eu la clef de notre chambre par le responsable de l'hôtel Encore plus dingue, ce sont des enfants qui étaient à côté de nous sur la plage, qui a renseigné que deux jeunes filles seules séjournaient dans tel endroit... Il vous est déjà arrivé une histoire complètement dingue ? Avez-vous eu des soucis au Belize ou pas du tout ? Je connais pas mal de personnes qui ont eu des problèmes à la frontière (moi aussi, ils ne voulaient pas nous laissé quitter le pays car il y avait une taxe à payer et nous n'avions du coup plus la moindre carte de banque ni centime...). Je vous raconte pas ça pour que vous soyez suspicieux des locaux lors d'un voyage. Simplement, le touriste est la proie facile par excellence (encore plus lorsqu'il s'agit de deux jeunes filles seules). Il faut juste rester sur ses gardes. Après, je ne sais pas trop comment j'aurais pu éviter cette arnaque ci ^^

J'avais prévu de me rendre en Nouvelle Zélande dans 2 ans mais mon cousin m'a dit "il y a aussi beau pour moins loin et moins cher : l'Ecosse" Des amis m'ont dit qu'ils trouvaient l'Ecosse superbe. J'y suis allée il y a environ 15 ans mais pendant tout le séjour, il n'y avait que pluie et brouillard donc je n'en ai presque rien vu.

Je souhaiterais aller dans les Highlands et faire du stop pour me déplacer, excepté de Edimbourg à Inverness que je ferai en car.

Avez vous tenté le stop en Ecosse ?

De surcroît, si le stop fonctionne, j'ai pensé à demander le gîte (j'ai mon sac de couchage je peux dormir dans une grange ou dans un salon) et le couvert (dîner) moyennant 30 euros si la personne accepte.

Je l'ai déjà fait au Canada et ça s'est très bien passé à la différence près que je ne donnais pas une contrepartie financière.

Quelqu'un peut-il élucider l'aventure toute récente arrivée à ma fille lors d'un transit (venant de Zanzibar) à l'aéroport de Mombasa? Pendant l'attente, puisqu'elle a le défaut d'être fumeuse, elle est allée s'enquérir auprès d'une commerçante du hall : y a-t-il un quelconque endroit prévu pour les fumeurs dans l'aéroport? Suite à une réponse négative, elle se rassied. Mais, soudain, un premier homme lui propose de le suivre pour aller fumer.Elle décline. S'ensuit un deuxième. Elle décline à nouveau. Puis, c'est une femme - en "uniforme" de personnel de l'aéroport, non policière- qui lui propose à son tour de l'accompagner. Celle-ci étant très "sympa", ma fille se laisse entraîner dans un local très à l'écart. aApeine a-t-elle allumé sa cigarette, qu'une autre préposée survient et fait le coup de la grosse indignation. Elle exige du coup le passeport de ma fille. Celle-ci répond opportunément (ouf) qu'elle ne l'a pas sur elle. Le préposé exige alors qu'elle aille le chercher en laissant bien sur place son iPhone et son sac à main. Ce que ma fille a refusé (bonne réaction) et reprenant, malgré les cris, le chemin de l'embarquement. C'était clairement un scénario? Mais quel était le but? Chantage de retenue du passeport au moment de l'embarquement?

Bonjour :) J'essaie de me monter un itinéraire pour 3 semaines de voyage en Turquie fin sept, début oct. Je ne suis jamais allée en Turquie, il y a donc quelques lieux que j'aimerais voir, même s'ils sont très touristiques. Hello everyone, I’ve been reading your posts and I can feel my excitement growing... I’m 56, very sporty and sociable, and I’ve never traveled alone before—it’s been on my mind though. I also dream of Asia: Cambodia, Thailand, Myanmar? I love discovering landscapes, but most of all, the people. Last year, I went trekking in Ladakh with two friends, and we did it on our own. It was an incredible visual experience—the Ladakh Valley is stunning—but staying with locals, in early July with very few tourists, was an unforgettable experience. On the other hand, I wouldn’t go to India alone. I didn’t like the way men treated women there. Though, I’ve only been once...
