Nature and Adventure
Beyond the image of its sometimes crowded beach resorts in season, the Canary Islands also offer stunning coastal, mountainous, and volcanic landscapes that are often perfect for hiking. Along the coast, the shoreline is home to many great diving spots and locally interesting sites for practicing major water sports.
Culture
Several museums and a few architectural remains from the colonial era, such as in Tenerife, where the historic center of La Laguna is also a UNESCO World Heritage site, are the main cultural attractions of the archipelago.
Relaxation and Holidays
While it’s true that the smaller western islands haven’t focused on this niche, the Canary Islands remain one of Europe’s top beach holiday destinations for relaxation, particularly in Tenerife or Gran Canaria. This is, in fact, a key motivator for the majority of visitors.
Independent Travel
The Canary Islands are a very easy destination for independent travel, perfect for beginner travelers, and pose no problems.
Package Tours
The archipelago is among the best-represented destinations in travel agency catalogs. This is true year-round, whether departing from Paris or other regions, offering all kinds of packages—or promotions—such as all-inclusive deals, circuits, treks, stays, and various à la carte services. Additionally, there are a few cruise options that stop at one or more of the islands.
All-Inclusive
Since the Canary Islands are a highly touristic destination, all-inclusive packages are very common. It’s worth checking these offers, especially during promotions, as they can sometimes be very attractive—even making the "flight + hotel" cost nearly identical to a simple standalone flight to the destination. Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife, and especially Gran Canaria host many all-inclusive resorts.
