Air Berlin improves revenue in September

Over the first nine months of 2008, Air Berlin transported 2.9 percent more passengers than in the corresponding period of the previous year. From January to September 2008, 22, 107, 115 passengers flew Air Berlin (2007: 21, 482, 622). Fleet capacity utilization for the first nine months of the year rose from 77.7 to 79.3 percent, i.e. an increase of 1.6 percentage points.
In September 2008, Air Berlin increased its revenue per available seat kilometre ("Yield per ASK") to 5.96 Eurocents (09/2007: 5.31 Eurocents), i.e. an increase of 12.1 percent. Revenue per available seat kilometre improved, even though a targeted capacity reduction decreased the number of passengers by 3.1 percentage points to 2, 854, 278 passengers (09/2007: 2, 946, 929) and the fleet capacity utilization by 1.7 percentage points to 82.5 percent (09/2007: 84.2 percent).
