Voilà j'organise mon 2ème voyage avec mon épouse à partir du 1er Mars pour 3 semaines en Thailande.
Sachant que l'année passé j'ai fais la même chose 3 semaine entre février et mars 2014.
J'aimerai avoir votre avis pour les îles à visiter pendant ce nouveau Voyage!
En sachant que l'année passé j'ai fais Similans, Lanta, Phi Phi, Raya, Krabi (classement par préférence)
J'aimerai cette année faire autre chose, je ne pourrais pas passer les 3 semaines à Phuket même si j'aime beaucoup mais je vais m’ennuyer.
Avant de vous embêter avec ma question j'ai parcouru le forum et ça m'a beaucoup aidé...
Je me dis que je vais passer 5 jours à Ko Phanga (plus exactement Salad Beach), qu'en pensez vous?
Je cherche un endroit qui est calme avec de très belles plages et des bungalow au bord de l'eau avec des spots snorkeling et peut être même de la pêche.
Je serai aussi tenté (par curiosité) de voir les FMP de cet île
Je compte m'y rendre par Van+Ferry même si c'est 7 ou 8hr de trajet
Donner moi vos avis et propositions ca m'aiderai beaucoup

tu aurais du prendre un vol multidestinations pour gagner quelques heures :
exemple aller paris -phuket et retour samui paris
(perso j'ai pris un aller paris bangkok et retour phuket paris ) 😉
P.S : Belgotunisie, on se fait une soirée VF, dans la semaine du 9 au 15 mars ? 😉
Pour Koh Pangam, je conseillerai plus Mae Haad (c'est un peu mort le soir, mais je trouve que c'est plus beau que Haad Salad (qui n'a pas l'air très calme à la haute saison). Cela dit, il doit y avoir du passage à la haute saison sur Mae Haad. Rien n'empêche aussi d'y aller à la journée, en 10 minutes de scooter depuis haad Salad. Le snorkelling autour de Ko Ma est pas mal (mais coraux quasi tous morts)
Bottle beach 2 semble aussi correspondre (quoi que pour le snorkeling , je ne sais pas). La plage y est encore plus belle, mais c'est un peu loin de tout.
5 jours c'est bien, peut être un peu court. j'y ai passé 4 jours en octobre. J'aurai préféré plus. Il y a des cascades et quelques treks dans l'île. Le circuit à velo avait l'air sympa aussi.
Aller au parc maritime Anghtong aussi est un must.
Sinon, pourquoi ne pas aller dans les parc naturels au nord de Krabi/Puket. J'en ai entendu le plus grand bien et j'espère y aller un jour.
Au départ de Phuket, il est facile de te rendre à Koh Yao Noi (pier de Bang Rong, au nord de Phuket Town). C'est une île très tranquille où, si tu loues un scooter, tu découvriras des plantations d'hévéas et, au bout de pistes un peu "sportives" une ou deux plages paradisiaques avec vue sur les pics karstiques de la baie de Phang Nga. Je peux te conseiller le Koh Yao Seaview Bungalows (sur la plage, à 5 min en scooter du pier de Tha Khao). Même à marée basse, tu peux t'y baigner (mais il faut aller assez loin), contrairement à d'autres plages de l'île.
Koh Pha Ngan est une très chouette île, mais n'est pas située près de Phuket. L'idéal aurait été d'y aller/revenir via Samui ou Surat Thani (ou Nakhon Si Thammarat). Nous avons passé 6 jours au Seaflower Bungalows à Haad Yao. L'idéal est d'y louer un scooter lorsque tu arrives au port car les taxis (en fait des songthaews) y sont chers. L'île présente des paysages très variés, des pistes trèèès sportives au centre (où il y a encore une vraie jungle), des plages et criques superbes. Relief varié, un peu les "montagnes russes", donc prudence en scooter et casque plus que conseillé !
Koh Yao Noi pourquoi pas c'est vraiment pas loin de Phuket et j'ai regardé ça à l air pas mal.
Vu que c'est proche ca demande moins de préparation, et sur place je vais booker une visite de l'île.
Pour Ko Pangan la descriptions que vous me faîte me plaît beaucoup!
Maintenant que j'aurais dû faire la réservation du retour en direct de Samui, tout le monde est d'accord, la prochaine fois 😏

Le reste de la Thailande m’intéresse et je sais que pour beaucoup Phuket et compagnie n'est même plus la Thailande, je respecte l'avis de tout le monde.
Moi j'ai adoré mon séjour de l'année passé à Phuket et environs, cette fois je change un peu, la prochaine fois ça sera certainement un peu plus le nord et pourquoi pas le Laos, Cambodge, Vietnam...
PS : Je suis né et j'ai grandi à quelques mètres de la mer, et maintenant je suis loin de la mer, donc oui dès que je peux je vais à la mer! 😛

Pour aller a Freedom depuis Patong c'est un peu plus compliquè que d'aller a Paradise. Le chemin est TRES mauvais... et puis apres il faut descendre la colline a pieds.. Avant il y avait un gars qui interdisait l'acces par là, ceci afin de 'preserver' les acces par long tail boat depuis Patong qui coutent un peu cher... J'ai bien peur que ce soit toujours le cas... Sinon ça vaut le coup oui, une des plus belles plages de l'ile.
Sinon pour Koh yao n'hesites pas 1 seconde.... Tu pourras y conduire tranquille, il y a moins de monde; Par contre mefiance aux varans qui traversent la route.. En 1 apres-midi, j'en ai vu 3 qui m'ont coupé la route....
D'ici là si j'ai pas plus de renseignements je vais essayer d'y aller et de vous dire si c'est possible ou pas de passer par là et de ne pas ceder à la mafia des Longtail.
Sinon les Varans j'ai eu l'expérience à Lanta c'était assez impressionnant un très grand varan qui me coupe la route et qui s'arrête en plein milieu de la route et me fixe, je peux te dire que j'ai pas fais le malin même si je sais que c'est un animal principalement insectivore, j'ai rebroussé chemin!!!
Lanta c'était quelque chose, j'ai même eu une mygale dans la chambre. là pareil j'ai pas fais le malin et j'ai changé carrément de guest house

Il n'y a pas d'excursions organisees au depart de Phuket pour Koh Yao Noi ou Koh Yao Yai comme il y a pour Phi Phi James Bond etc ... Tu dois prendre un taxi pour te rendre a Bang Rong pier et de la un speed boat (200 baht par trajet). Le 1er arret est Koh Yao Yai et le 2eme Koh Yao Noi.
Je ne connais pas Koh Yao Noi mais je connais bien Koh Yao Yai qui est tres sympa et .... tres calme. Mais bon comme je vis a Patong c'est ce que je recherche.
Quand je vais la bas je prends le speed boat de 7h50 (tres ponctuel !!!) qui arrive a Koh Yao Yai a 8h20. Et je rentre par le speed boat de 16h30 (ponctualite plus aleatoire ....😏). Si je dors sur place je vais au betterview bungalows:
Si tu es sur Phuket c'est sympa de faire 2j/1n a Koh Yao Yai. Le 1er jour tu peux louer un scooter pour faire le tour de l'ile et le 2eme jour faire le tour de la baie de Phang Nga avec un long tail boat. Depart tot le matin et retour au port a 16h00 pour le speed boat de 16h30.

La je rejoins Philippe (Therat). Si ta pire experience a ete d'aller a Paradise beach, il est preferable de ne pas tenter Freedom en scooter .... Perso je prefere prendre un long tail plutot que de galerer grave et de passer la journee a me demander si je retrouverai mon scooter avec ses 2 pneus en parfait etat ..... Pour info la derniere partie de la route pour aller a Paradise beach est pire que l'an dernier ....
Sinon puisque tu es a Phuket tu peux aussi aller visiter Koh Bon et Koh Lone avec un long tail au depart de Rawai. Il y a egalement une nouvelle ile qui vient de s'ouvrir pour des excursions a la journee, Koh Mai Thon. Il n'y a pas l'affluence de Phi Phi et d'apres les photos que j'ai vues c'est magnifique. Par contre je n'y suis pas encore alle car il n'a a qu'une compagnie qui le propose a des prix de fou. Il semblerait qu'une 2eme compagnie devrait y aller donc j'attends un peu ...

- voire meme un peu plus loin l'ile de Ko Payam

Bien sûr 5 minutes de Patong en scoot.. C'est indiqué juste a 1 Km avant.. Mais c'est bien la bonne route, et de toute façon tu ne peux pas aller plus loin, ça se termine à Paradise... Oui tu traverses la foret , et sur les 100 derniers mètres la route n'est pas goudronéee.. Mais c'est tres facile d' accès ne t inquietes pas....
Freedom en Long tail.
Koh yao est une ile dont en scoot, pas facile 😄; regarde sur mon site j'explique comment y aller.

Oui la plage de Paradise est payante... Tu auras un transat et un parasol pour 100 bahts.
Freedom est cher: 1500 bhts aller retour, mini si tu es seule ; si vous etes plusieurs, genre 3 ou 4 ca coutera 2000 ou 2500 b en tout... C'est aussi un peu aléatoire🤪

Nous avons passé en famille un peu plus de 2 semaines avec comme programme Hanoi 5 jours
Baie d'Halong 3 jours et 2 nuits
Tam coc 3 jours
Mai Chau 2 jours
Sapa 3 jours
Vélos , scooters, grab et bus pour les déplacements.
Hébergements principaux en homestay et hôtels sur Hanoi.
Nombreux musées , temples et quartiers sur Hanoi visités
Trek de 2 jours et 1 nuit sur Sapa avec May de la minorité Hmong en direct et sans agence .
Plusieurs petits regrets , temps couvert et pas de possibilité d'aller au Fansipan mais rien de grave 😉, pas pu trouver de transport pour rejoindre Mu Cang Chai de Sapa .
À part cela , ce voyage restera gravé dans nos mémoires pour la gentillesse des vietnamiens , les rencontres faites , la nourriture ( rue , homestays...) , les cafés 😋, les paysages , la facilité pour se déplacer ....
Notre volonté était de prendre notre temps et de nous consacrer uniquement à une petite partie du Nord Vietnam.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

If you’ve had the experience—and since I’ve read (though it’s not very clear) that these two islands get quite crowded during this period—would you recommend booking accommodation well in advance, or is it easy to find something on the spot?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

Sandakan → Sepilok:
No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.
