Traveling to Algeria with a company-owned car?

Hi there, I have a 9-seater passenger vehicle that I use for my business in Paris, transporting people. I’m planning to go to Algeria with my family. The vehicle registration lists my company as the owner. Can I get a TPD (Temporary Admission Document)? Will I need a KBis extract or a power of attorney?!? Thanks for your help. Worst case, I can add my personal name as a co-owner on the registration, but that would be a real shame!

Hi there,

You’ll need to go to the consulate and get a power of attorney issued in your company’s name (as the manager) or they’ll refuse you entry into Algerian territory! They’re really strict about this, and on top of that, you’ll have to take out insurance either on the boat or at the port—otherwise, you could run into big problems!

Call the consulate first to find out what documents you’ll need (K-bis, company bylaws listing the manager’s name, insurance, your ID and the manager’s, passport, etc.—and don’t forget the manager needs to be there in person to sign the power of attorney)!

Good luck!

On the customs website, you can fill out your currency declaration online, and once you’ve completed that famous TPD form, the customs officer on board the boat or at the border will just need to verify it, apparently. I still don’t know about the power of attorney—we’ll see how it goes!

Hi there,

I manage a transport company and I’m in the same situation as you—I’d like to travel to Algeria with one of my vehicles. The vehicle registration is in the company’s name. What do I need to do?

I’m leaving on 03/08/2016.

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Could you let me know if you were able to travel with your company vehicle?

Best regards,

Hello,

I just got back from Algeria, where I went with my company-owned vehicle. The procedure is simple: you go to your city hall to get a power of attorney certificate, meaning the company manager authorizes you to use the company vehicle with the entry and exit dates for Algeria, along with the registration details, etc. The city hall will legalize the document, and then you take it to the consulate to get it stamped. And that’s it—you’re all set with Algerian customs for entering and exiting.

Just note that insurance doesn’t work in Algeria, so you’ll need to get one at the port when you disembark from the ferry.

Just in case, bring the Kbis (company registration) and a copy of the manager’s ID.

I did ALMERIA–GHAZAOUET without any issues. The customs officers were super chill, contrary to what people say.

Hello Anissavon.

You have no idea how much you’ve relieved me with your answer. I’m a co-owner of the vehicle registration and I’m going on vacation to the bled without my husband this summer. So, should the power of attorney be handwritten or typed on plain paper? And at the Consulate, do they process it the same day?

Thanks in advance for your help. Have a great day.

hi I’m leaving for Algeria on 28/07 with my company car. Rental company: CAR LEASE They gave me the exit permit for the dates listed, authorized with my name as the main user and the name of the company that employs me.

In your opinion, am I missing any documents?

I’ll go to the town hall to get the attestation legalized.

Someone mentioned the Kbis—should it be my company’s or the rental company’s?

Thanks so much for your replies
