je suis actuellement au cambodge et souhaite aller visiter certains temples eloignes en louant des motos, comme je l ai fait le mois dernier au Laos.
je souhaite me rendre en bus a Kompong Thom, et de la rayonner a moto pour visiter les temples de Preah Khan, Preah Vihear, Sambor Prei Kok, Beng Meala. si vous avez une idee du temps necessaire pour chacun d eux (temps de route, etat de route, guest house en chemin...)
je suis parti avec le guide du routard et je m appercois que les infos donnees sont tres incompletes, ils evoquent des routes et des villes qu ils ne representent pas sur leur carte, ou bien ailleurs des erreurs de numeros de route... bref, peu fiable...
je precise que en ce moment nous sommes en saison tres seche !
ensuite, de Sisophon, je souhaitait louer une moto pour aller sur Banteay Chmar.
je me suis selectionne ces 5 temples, peut etre en eliminerais-je, certainement que je ne ferais pas les 5, mais pourquoi pas.
je precise que ici les infos sont assez peu fiables pour Preah Vihear. les cambodgiens disent tous qu il est ouvert sans probleme, mais je n ai pas rencontre de voyageur y etant alle. je suis entre au cambodge il y a deux jours.
vos experiences (+ ou - recentes) sont les bien venues.
je precise que je souhaite faire ces trajets par mes propres moyens, a moto, pas en taxi ou tuk tuk.

si tu n'as que le gdr comme guide routier , tu risque de te perdre un peu ... pour les routes au cambodge , la reference est le guide total , vendu dans les stations essence du meme nom . je ne sais pas ou en est la mise a jour , mais certainement le plus fiable sur le sujet.
pour le reste de nombreux post evoquent les problemes de locations et de conduite . bonne route
Preah Vihear est ouvert mais depuis qq jours, les deux armées thai et cambodgienne ont renforcé leur dispositif et les armes lourdes ont fait leur réapparition. En clair, la situation est tendue tout autour du temple. Dire qu'il y a ou non risque d'affrontement, c'est aussi peu fiable que de lire dans le marc de café.

Beng Meala est plus près de Siem Reap, une soixantaine de km. La route est sans probleme mais les étrangers n'ont pas le droit de louer de moto à SR. Avec un motodop ou en tuk si vous etes plusieurs, pas de souci.
Preah Kean, une piste était en réfection l'an dernier.Elle doit etre achevée. Elle part de Beng Meala. Bien se renseigner à Siem reap ou à Beng Meala car elle est dure à trouver.
Sambor, est à une vingtaine de kilometres de Kompong Tom, une piste mais sans difficulté. Certains y vont en voiture.
Banteay Chmar, louez une moto à Sisophon, un panneau sur la nationale qui mène à Poipiet indique la direction de BC. Mauvaise piste qui secoue sur une soixtaine de km. Mais ça passe sans problème( en saison sèche)

je vais essayer de trouver une autre moto pour continuer demain. (ici ils ne veulent plus louer de moto pour aller a Preah Kean, cause route en trop mauvais etat, les motos souffrent, quand au preha Vihear ils ne sont pas trop chauds non plus pour louer)
bref, je vais perseverer !

De Kompong Thom, Preah Kean est éloigné. Route, puis une piste longue qui était en travaux l'an dernier. Je n'ai pas pu y acceder car la route était barrée par les bull et des ravines
Le probleme ce sont souvent les informations contradictoires. Qu'à KT ils ne soient pas au courant de la réfection de cette piste n'est pas très étonnant. Meme dans les villages à deux pas de la piste, on me certifiait encore qu'on pouvait passer.
Mais en toute logique, (la logique en Asie😉 )ça doit être praticable maintenant.
POur Preah Vihear, il y a une autre solution.Y acceder par le Nord Ouest, par la ville d'Along Veng. En clair, une fois à Siem Reap vous prenez le bus jusqu'à Along Veng et là, vous louer une moto. Deux ou trois heures de moto sur une route toute neuve qui vient d'être achevée pour acceder au temple.

Je te disais ce matin d'être prudent pour Preah Vihear car la situation était tendue.
A 8 heures ce matin, les deux armées se sont affrontées à l'artillerie lourde autour du temple.Les habitants des villages environnants cherchent à fuir.
C'est tout ce que l'on sait pour l'instant mais c'est assez pour ne pas aller trainer dans le secteur actuellement.

Yes c est tres tendu a ce qu on dit dans le coin.
je suis parti hier matin pour preah vihear en moto, et c est vraiment pas la porte a cote.
enfin, je n ai pas ete jusque la, car j ai rencontre pas mal de monde sur mon chemin, qui m ont appris qu effectivement il y avait des affrontements en cours. du coup, apres plusieurs avertissements j ai decide de biffurquer sur Koh Ker. c est a dire que j ai bifurque environ 2h avant d atteindre le temple de preah vihear. j ai quand meme mis 7h pour Koh Ker (en contant les poses repas, repos de la moto, les crevaisons, et decompression de moi meme ! ) , les pistes ne sont pas du tout en bon etat, il faut tout le temps rouler sur le cote, entre les cailloux (au milieu) et le sable (au bord). et etre prudent car beaucoup de trous et de vaguelettes laissees par le ruisselement des eaux...
quand a la partie route goudronnee, elle est terrible. j y ai creve 2 fois a l aller et 2 fois au retour !!! car la route n est pas lisse du tout, le goudron est incruste de gos graviers (de 2 a 3 cm de grosseur !). ce qui est terrible pour les pneus, pour l aderance aussi, et lorsqu un camion ou pick up passe dans l autre sens, il faut se proteger le visage parceque ca vole et quand vous entendez le bruit des impacts dans le casque, vous etes content de le porter !!!
quand aux crevaisons, il y a un "garage-case" tout les 200m et ca coute 0.5 voire 0.75 dollar de reparer en 25mn, donc c est une tranche de vie, dans la poussiere de la route, les gosses au milieu... bien que 4 fois, j en avais marre quand meme !!!
bref, c etait une aventure, et je me suis bien ammuse quand meme. j ai visite Koh Ker hier en fin d aprem pour le coucher du soleil, et ce matin pour le lever. ce qui m a permis de ne pas payer car les gardes n y etaint plus ou pas encore...
mais du coup, je recommande la moto de cross ou enduro, au moins pour les pneus... j avais une honda wave 100cc classique...
allez, je vais essayer de trouver un bangkok post ou similaire, pour savoir ce qu il se passe exactement...

Je constate cependant que tu gardes le sens de l'humour. Ca restera un excellent souvenir, j'en suis certaine. Meme s'il est bien évident qu'avec une Enduro, cela aurait été plus facile.Pour la suite, pour Bantey Chmar notamment, essaie d'en louer une, bien qu'il ne soit pas évident d'en trouver partout. Car là bas aussi, ça secoue!

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
