Je me rends dans le delta à partir du quartier de Dong Ngu Lao (routard). Est-il exact
qu'avec la compagnie (agence?) Phuong Trang, il est possible de monter dans le bus
depuis ce quartier (donc sans devoir aller jusqu'à la gare routière comme pour la compagnie
de bus Mai Linh).
Si vous avez d'autres précisions: où se situent les bureaux de Phuong Trang?A quelles
heures (le matin) partent les bus pour Vinh Long ou Cantho.

Nous avons pris ce bus il y a trois jours entre HCMC et Can Tho : très bonne compagnie, rapide, et confortable. Tarif 100 000 VND par personne. Départ toutes les 30 minutes de la gare routière (soit environ 120 000 VND de taxi depuis le quartier routard si vous optez pour cette solution). Plusieurs agences dans le quartier routard (couleur orange reconnaissable facilement), notamment une Duong De Tham (où passent régulièrement le bus de la compagnie).

de ne pas devoir me rendre (en taxi) à la gare routière du sud (Mien Tay?) mais d'embarquer
depuis le quartier des backpackers (depuis la gare routière en face du marché Ben Thangh
par exemple "HCM Bus Center").
... notamment une Duong De Tham (où passent régulièrement le bus de la compagnie).
Est-ce bien le bus en direction du Delta (Cantho par exemple)?
effectivement je suis comme toi...pourquoi prendre un taxi a 120.000d si le bus s'arrete au quatier routard "Pham Ngu Lao"...

J'ai écrit de long en large sur VoyageForum qu'il fallait prendre la compagnie Mai Linh.
Le bureau se trouve 400 A, Rue Lê Hông Phong (tout près de la Rue Trân Phú), la navette à la station Bên Xe Miên Tây pour prendre le bus à destination de Can Tho est gratuite.

May linh n'a pas non plus le monopole de la qualité du service. Phuong Trang semble
s'être nettement amélioré au vu des critiques lues depuis ces dernières années (et ici plus haut notamment).
Pour ceux qui se rendent à Vinh Long: un seul bus de la gare routière du sud (6h ou 6h30 du matin je crois).
S'il faut prendre une navette avant, cela fait court la nuit précédente! Autant connaître plusieurs possibilités.
S'informer, c'est gouverner! (proverbe par ici). Bien à toi...

Il y a bien un bureau Phuong Trang dans le quartier routard situé au 272 Đề Thám mais les bus qui partent de là ne desservent que Mui Ne, Nha Trang et Dalat.
Les chauffeurs de Phuong Trang sont souvent des kamikazes, les seuls qui se permettent de violer le code de la route devant le nez de la police routière.
certaines compagnies beneficient en effet d'une "protection" de la police...
ca existe dans ma ville egalement...

Voici ce que j avais publié sur Mailinh que j ai utilisée de nombreuses fois par le passé.
Il n'y a pas besoin d'aller en taxi du quartier routard jusqu'aux terminaux sud ou Nord .
le bureau Le Hong Phong est pas loin du quartier routard , meme pas 10 mns en mototaxi .
Je me mefie des autres compagnies pour la meme raison que cite Abalone .

Mailinh est une des compagnies de taxi de HCMV et Hanoi aux couleurs blanche et inscriptions en vert mais posséde aussi une flotte de minibus et
plus rarement de grands bus tous de couleur verte .
Tu peux reserver ta place à l'avance . Dans le minibus je prends la 15 tout au fond à droite qui me permet d'avoir la vitre et de l'espace pour allonger mes jambes .
sinon je prends la 11 juste devant la 15 .
Pour reserver tu peux aller à leur bureau au centre de Saigon à coté de l'Opéra et grands hotels .
Grand bureau ou il n'y a jamais foule .
Les employées sont vetues à la vietnamienne , ao dai vert et pantalon blanc .
Les chauffeurs eux sont en chemise blanche et cravate verte .
Sinon si tu loges dans le quartier routard , prend un mototaxi ou un taxi et va à leur petit bureau un peu plus au sud .
c'est rue LE HONG Phong à 2 bons kms au sud , tous les taxis connaissent . Le mieux prend un Mailinh ( chauffeurs en principe honnetes ) .
moi je prends un mototaxi , c'est sympa de traverser Saigon et se meler au trafic de pres
Le bureau n'est pas grand mais bien frequenté , il y a une petite salle d'attente .
Tu peux reserver ici pour nord ou sud , certaines filles parlent anglais et vraiment serviables .
Arrive à ce bureau avec de l avance le jour du depart .
Toutes les 15 mns passe un de leur bus navette , gratuit si tu es en possesion d'un billet , lequel t'aménera à la gare routiére sud , celle située bien apres Cholon
C' est un beau capharnaum cette gare routiére entre les dizaines de baraques /guichets de toutes les Cies .
Le chauffeur de la navette t'indiquera ou stationnent les minibus verts de leur Cie , leur destination est affichée devant , par contre il faut regarder le n° de la plaque mineralogique qu'ils
reportent à la main sur le billet pour savoir si c'est le bon minibus . Ne t'inquiéte pas , leur personnel est totalement devoué et t'aidera si tu es deboussolé.
Au retour , quand tu debarques à la gare routiere reprend leur navette gratuite qui te ramenera au bureau Le Hong Phong en montant ton billet utilisé .
elle part meme si elle n'est pas pleine. Et du bureau , demande leur de t'appeler un taxi Mailinh car tu as parfois des rabatteurs/arnaqueurs à l'affut .
En province , tout depend des villes , parfois ils ont des microbus qui te transferent gratuit à l'hotel .
Ils peuvent aussi venir te prendre le jour du depart avec ce microbus , mais parfois ils passent à te recuperer à l'hotel 15 mns et meme 10 mns avant le depart de
l'autre minibus " inter -cités " .
A Dalat je me mefie , ce ramassage parfois fonctionne mal . A Cantho idem le gars m'a oublié , j ai pris un mototaxi en catastrophe pour
gagner la gare routiere .
A Vinh long lors d'un weekend avec congés locaux , j ai bien fait d'arriver tot , il y avait eu du surbooking pour remonter sur HCMH
De Le Hong Phong tu as aussi une navette qui passe pour la gare routiere nord .
Je suis tres satisfait dans l'ensemble de cette Cie , departs toujours à l'heure et un seul pepin : une crevaison entre Buon Me thuot et Dalat .
En plus leurs chauffeurs ne se comportent pas comme des kamikazes comme c'est le cas chez des Cies concurrentes
Toutes les places sont assises et personne ne se tient t debout . Avant le depart on t'offre une petite bouteille d'eau .
En cours de trajet pause de 30 mn à prevoir pour dejeuner dans un restauroute de la Cie avec petits etals de vendeuses .
Le delta est tres bien desservi avec de frequents departs .
Can Tho est aussi un de leur hub .
Vers le Nord les departs sont moins nombreux .
Tu as des liaisons dalat-Nha trang , Nha trang-Qui Nhon , Qui Nhon -Pleiku , buon Me thuot-Dalat et d'autres .
Compter 5H pour faire HCMH-Chau doc en incluant le passage du bac avant Long Xuyen
et 3H pour Can Tho . 2H pour Ben Tre
Pour aller à Camau il m'a fallu dans les 8h de route .
Dalat ce doit etre 7H .
Dalat-Nha trang 3H30
Si tu es grande prevoit une casquette car tu peux avoir l'AC qui te souffle sur la tete ou des sparadraps
pour maintenir le clapet fermé .

Il y a pratiquement un départ toutes les 30 mn de Saigon à Can Tho. Sauf en période de long week-end des fêtes, comme le 2 Septembre prochain, la fête du Têt et le 30 Avril - 1er Mai, il n'y a pas besoin de réserver à l'avance.

Le bus Mai Linh n'a pas de liaison directe entre Can Tho et Vinh Long. Pour une trentaine de km entre ces 2 villes, n'importe quel bus fera l'affaire.
La station de bus se trouve à environ 2 km du Centre de Vinh Long.

A Vinh Long le terminal Mailinh est excentré , comme dit Abalone celà doit faire 3 kms du centre environ .
En arrivant demande s'il peuvent te faire un transfert dans un micro bus qui deposera aussi d'autres clients
au centre .
A Vinh long centre , pres du marché et de la poste tu prends le bac pour velos/motocyclistes pour t'amener sur l'ile /iles avec vergers en face .
Arrivé de l'autre coté , tu peux denicher un taximoto qui t'emmenera faire un tour .
En fait c'est comme une grande ile decoupée par plusieurs chenaux , des ponts relient les "ilots" .
A Vinh long centre , pres du marché et de la poste tu prends le bac pour velos/motocyclistes pour t'amener sur l'ile /iles avec vergers en face .
On peut louer une moto à Vinh Long si l'on dort dans la ville, pour traverser le petit ferry. De l'autre côté, c'est l'île An Binh. A moto, il n'y a pas trop de problèmes de sécurité.
On peut se faire amener en moto-taxi vers l'une des adresses de homestay pour dormir et faire du vélo dans l'île.
En prenant un deuxième ferry, on peut arriver à Cái Bè.

Je venais tout juste de me dire que je "zappais" Sa Dec pour pouvoir passer
un 3ème jour, non encore défini, à Cantho, Vinh Long ou Chau Doc (chaque
fois minimum 2 jours pour terminer le séjour au Vietnam en douceur...).
Oui Abalone, je dormirai sur l'île de An Binh (je potasse la documentation
pour dénicher une bonne adresse).
La question pratique qui me tarabusque: alors que je préfère faire les marchés
flottants de CanTho avant la relaxation à An Binh, la question est de savoir
comment aller de Vinh Long à Chau Doc:
- en revenant à Can Tho et prendre un autre bus pour Chau Doc;
- ou via Dong Thap (que j'ai lu mais pas vu sur la carte encore);
- ou une autre possibilité plus avantageuse?

Quelques souvenirs tapés à la va-vite d'un cybercafé local
Chau Doc au bord du Bassac : j'aime bien cette ville au bord du Bassac , ses lyceennes pedalant en Ao dai ,
le mont Sam à 6 kms avec vue sur l'immensité du damier des rizieres et un bac en ville qui traverse le Bassac avec bonnes balades à pied ou en velo sur cette rive opposée

Bonjour a tous,
Ce matin direction le bac pour l ile d An Binh aux heures fraiches.
C est un petit bac en face de l hotel Cuulong.
Personne ne pouvant me dire ou prendre le billet et ne voyant pas de guichet je monte a bord.
En fait c est de l autre cote qu on receptionne les billets.
Je sors 500 dong et les remets aux "poinconneuses ' puis pars faire un tour dans le village et interpelle un taximoto.
Apres croquis, explications il m annonce son tarif 60000 dongs l 'heure.
Et nous voila partis pour une agreable balade de deux heures par petites routes et chemins au milieu de la vegetation, voies d eaux, vergers.
Qui est le mieux de An Binh ou Ben Tre ?
Disons que j ai prefere Ben Tre, beaucoup plus fournie en cocotiers et qui dans certains coins donnent l impression de jungle tropicale .
La population y semble aussi plus amicale.
Sinon il y a des tours organises par l office du tourisme decrits dans leur bureau.
Visiblement c est encadre et destine aux groupes.
Quand on lit les commentaires du GR sur les choses a faire, on a l impression de lire
quasi integralement le panneau de l office.
Hier journee de repos a Vinh Long pour traiter mon debut de bronchite et ne pas affoler demain soir les cameras thermiques detecteuses de fievre de Suvarnabhumi .
Premiere ville ou je vois autant de tailleurs ou alors je n ai pas rode dans les bons quartiers des autres villes provinciales.
je me suis installe sur un banc pour lire, face au Mekong et a l ile de An Binh .
Pas desagreable a part le teuf teuf des bateaux qui passent regulierement.
Assis sur les bancs voisins, des jeunes tourtereaux se contaient fleurette .
L un des Romeo avait amene gateaux secs et boisson a sa belle, enthousiasme de cette derniere qui l attendait depuis un moment mais il a pas eu droit a des bisous, juste des petites tapes affectueuses . Les bras s entremelent les jambes aussi, mais le " french kiss" n est pas de mise du moins en public, voyeurs passez votre chemin.
Et puis j ai eu ma demi-heure de succes avec trois miss arrivees avec leurs deux copains qu elles ont laisse tomber pour venir causer en anglais ecorche .
Et malgre mon grand age j ai eu droit aussi aux petites tapes affectueuses et tout un tas de questions . Les jeunes de ce pays sont dans l ensemble adorable, dommage qu au niveau langue, rares sont ceux qui se debrouillent bien .
Nuit encore pas terrible a cause du voisin du dessous rentre tardivement et qui avait mis la tele entre 1h et 3h du matin, et mes boules Quies inefficaces
Sur le palier d etage j avais bien reperé les sectionneurs electriques numerotes par chambre, je suis descendu couper le sien pensant qu il s' etait peut etre endormi .
Raté, je ne sais pas ce que cela coupait mais en tout cas pas l alimentation de sa télé.
Ce matin direction la gare routiere pour prendre mon minibus Mailinh prevu à 9h30.
j avais reserve 48h en avance prevoyant le retour des 4 jours de weekend.
je deniche un mototaxi immediatement et arrive a 8h20 .
La l' employe Mailinh me propose le minibus de 8h30 ( il y a 2 jours ce n' etait pas possible ) . Hop, modification du billet et me voilà assigné au siege 11 du " 8h30" .
seulement pas mal de passagers arrivent avec leur billet + bouteille d eau offerte et debarbouillette . je retourne voir l employee pour obtenir ma bouteille et voila sa collegue qui m accoste et je comprends qu elle veut me refourguer sur le 9h30.
Alors je ne marche pas dutout c est Niet et vais m installer avec les autres passagers.
en fait il a du se produire du surbooking que le personnel ne maitrisait pas .
Enervement de plusieurs passagers et les employes chemise blanche/cravates vertes gardaient leur sang froid malgre cela.
Finalement cela vaut mieux d arriver en avance et j aurai bien pu etre ejecte du 9h30

Le plus simple c'est de prendre un taxi Mai Linh à partir de Cái Bè pour se rendre à la station resto-route de Mai Linh de Cái Bè sur la RN 1 (5 km) et prendre un bus Mai Linh pour Châu Dóc.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
