je suis dans le nord de la thailande et j'aimerai faire quelques plongees et me poser un peu dans un hamac avant de rejoindre le yunnan en Chine.
J ai entendu beaucoup de bien sur les plongees en Malaisie et pense des lors combiner cela a un sejour rapide de 2 semaines en malaisie.
J hesite entre les perhentian et Sipadan. Sipadan est apparement le top du top, mais je voyage routard (logement basique, petits restos/bouffe de rue...) donc je crains d y exploser le budget.
Il me semble qu il est impossible de rejoindre borneo en bateau de singapour ou de malaisie? Donc avion en plus.
Est ce que vous pouvez me donner une idee des prix pour le logement pres de sipadan et des plongees?? Et pour les perhentian? Les plongees y valent quand meme le coup?
Oui le budget nécessaire pour plonger à Sipadan peut être prohibitif pour une petite bourse. De plus, l'avion est effectivement nécessaire pour y aller. Mais Air Asia propose des billets pas chers pour Kota Kinabalu depuis Kuala Lumpur ou Singapour (de l'ordre de moins de 50 euros A/R TTC - selon les dates !). Il est possible aussi de prendre un vol directement pour Tawau (l'aéroport le plus proche de Sipadan).
Perhentians, ça vaut le coup ! C'est moins cher déjà. J'y étais ce week-end, je n'ai pas plongé mais même en snorkelling tu vois des tortues, des requins, des coraux magnifiques et toutes sortes de poissons, alors je n'ose pas imaginer en plongée...

Oui, 3/4 jours c'est bien. À condition d'aimer la plage ! Car il n'y a pas grand' chose d'autre à faire ! Mais c'est joli et relaxant. J'avais été dans cet hôtel. Sans doute pas le moins cher mais plutôt sympa. Attention, à marée haute, il n'y a presque plus de plage !
J avais envie de retourner a Koh Lipe, ile que j ai beaucoup aime et ou j avais fait de belles plongees, mais c est un peu superflue de multiplier les iles, les frais de transport (speedboat) et entrees des parcs nationaux. Donc je ferai quelques plongees en malaisie uniquement.
Peux tu me donner une idee des prix pour le logement et les plongees a sipadan? A combien demarre l offre de logement...
Disons que sipadan se serait un gros plaisir...

Un poil moins cher y a la plateforme de Seaventures très sympa aussi, pour les budgets serrés faut regarder du côté de SJ leurs chalets sur Mabul sont plus abordables.

PS:Attention de réserver assez à l'avance pour les permis sur Sipadan, c'est limité et la demande se fait forte en ce moment, souvent complet.

Si je reserve a l avance, je pourrais peut etre plonger des le lendemain de mon arrivee et ne pas m'attarder trop longtemps dans la region.
Je regardais le site de scuba junkies, avec le permis et le materiel ca fait 580RM (env 135 euros) pour 3 plongees a Sipadan. Les prix semblent un peu surfaits malgre que ce soir un site exceptionnel, non? j ai paye 70euros pour 3 plongees a Koh Lipe, pres de la moitie.
Mais j ai lu des echos negatifs sur scuba junkies.
Et Semporna et Mabul island, est ce qu il y a des plages sympas pour se poser une petite journee? Est ce possible de faire du snorkelling directement de la plage?
Il me reste une petite somme sympa pour me faire plaisir sur la fin du voyage mais j avais surtout pense a me rendre au Japon.
Sinon, je peux toujpours aller au perhentian cette fois et aller a sipadan lors de mon prochain passage en asie. Je vais y reflechir...

Si tu veux plonger qu'une journée ou deux à Sipadan et pour pas cher, alors oriente toi vers Scuba Junkie ou Billabong. Sur les deux centres tu liras des avis mitigés sur le matériel, les guides, l'hebergement, mais tant qu'il y a plus d'avis positifs que negatifs, pas d'inquiétude, non 🙂. J'ai plongé avec Billabong en octobre dernier, 3 plongées à sipadan + permis + equipement revenait à 430 RM. Le bateau etait en excellent etat, le guide etait local, professionnel, quant au matériel, je ne l'ai pas essayé, car je voyage avec le mien, mais il avait l'air en bon etat. Le logement dans la long house est des plus simple et je ne le recommande pas. Mieux vaut aller loger dans la long house à coté, Arun Ayat, qui pour le meme tarif (70RM) offre des chambres plus propres et des repas moins frugal.
Tu ne peux pas comparer les plongées à Koh Lipe avec celle de Sipadan ou Mabul, qui sont des sites nettement plus riche en faune pelagique et macro. Le caviar est toujours plus cher que l'oeuf de lompe 😉
Semporna c moche, et il n'y a rien à faire, donc aucun interet à y sejourner, en revanche, mabul est une charmante petite ile, et si tu loges dans une long house tu seras dans le village de pecheur.
Et quand on plonge sur des sites comme Sipadan, on n'a qu'une envie c'est d'y revenir, quand à devenir blasé, il y a tant de sites de plongée dans le monde et la mer est pleine de surprises que je ne pense cela envisageable 🙂

bunSalut, bous sommes allés faire une trentaine de plongée à sipadan en 2007 et en 2008. Nous sommes aussi allés faire 12 plongées aux Perhentians en 2007. Donc pour comparer au niveau des prix, ça ne se compare pas. Sipadan est le 7e ciel et les Perhentians c'est très joli.
Pour te donner une idée des prix regarde mes 2 tableaux qui datent d'une semaine, car on a fait les 2 scénarios pour se convaincre d'aller aux Perhentians cet été, à cause du budget hehehe. Et étant donné que nous sommes allés déjà 2 fois à Sipadan et que nous allons plonger aux Togian, à Bunaken, etc. Voilà! A+

cela te seras plus facile et moins cher d'aller aux Perhentians . perso je ne fais pas de plongé mais beaucoup de snorkeling et la j'ai ete gaté (tortues , reqins à pointes noires , et de tres beaux poissons multicolores .)
pour ce qui est du logement aux perhentianx , tu peux trouver tous les prix , tout depend si tu veux loger dans une cabane ou dans un resort plus confortable (la gamme des prix va de 50 rm =environ 10euros jusqu'a 450rm )
Les Perhentians valent vraiment le coup .

Je n'ai pas eu l'occasion de plonger ailleurs, mais j'ai discuté avec de très nombreux plongeurs aguerri qui trouve Sipadan exceptionnel!!!
Pour moi j'ai plongé avec SCUBA JUNKIE et franchement j'ai été très satisfait, une très bon rapport qualité prix, une très bonne ambiance, pas du tout orienté argent, profit, mais plutôt amical, cool...
Pour le logement nous avion payé 20Euros/nuit et par personne en pension complète dans un cadre très agréable.
Pour ce qui est du prix des plongés, je ne peux pas trop dire car c'était compris dans le package du brevet de plongé.
Nous venons de rentrer de malaisie et nous avons plongée avec Scuba Junkie.
300rm pour 3 plongée matos compris par personne pour toutes les iles sauf sipadan.
490rm pour 3 plongée matos compris et permis compris et repas par personne.
ils ont depuis peu un petit hotel sur mabul, qui est vraiment bien et propre.
les prix commence à 99rm par personne avec 3 repas + snack à 4heures + boissons par nuit: vraiment pas chère.
je ne suis pas encore fixee mais c est fort probable que je me lache et explose le budget a Sipadan. Cela veut dire raccourcir le voyage mais au moins ca sera memorable!

D'accord avec ceux qui te conseillent Sipadan, a fond !!
Quand a moi je connais Perhentians (open water en 2004), Koh Lipe (2004, 2005, 2009) et malgré tout ma dizaine de plongées sur Sipadan en 2008 éclipse totalement ces deux autres spots, c'est juste pas la même catégorie y'a pas photo.
Si Uncle Chang existe encore a Mabul c'est la bonne alternative si tu voyage en routard, pas cher et pas prise de tête, ambiance backpackers-roots, avec ce que ça implique comme inconvenients, hein (:p)
y'a deux ans c'était encore abordable, même au niveau plongées avec permis inclus, mais pense a réserver tôt car comme mentionné plus haut chaque structure a un nombre limité de places/jour pour aller a Sipadan (10 min. En speedboat de Mabul)
Les tombants, requins corail partout, tortues maousse, bancs de carangues, barracudas, perroquets a bosse et j'en passe te feront oublier très vite le trou dans le porte monnaie ;)

Connais pas le Sipadan Pom Pom mais il est pas sur Mabul, si ton budget le permet je te conseille Borneo Divers, les deux types d'hébergement sont bien différents, la plateforme de Seaventures est aussi une expérience intéressante.
Enfin faut il craindre les pluies en octobre ?
Pas plus qu'a une autre période, tu peux plonger toute l'année à Sipadan avec une préférence entre mars et novembre.
Aucun problème de niveau à Sipadan c'est que du bonheur.
Sinon je reviens d'un wk-nd au Perhentians, j'ai malheureusement pas eu le temps de vous faire un CR 😕 c'est bien sympa aussi mais ça vaut pas Sipadan pour les plongées.
J'ai bien aimé "Sugar Wreck" plongées avec Watercolour sur Besar, très très sérieux je recommande sans soucis, logé à L'Impiani (Sud Kecil) très calme.
Sinon hébergement pas cher, au Mama's chez l'ami Aziz qui aime bcp les Français surtout Jonny😏 Bonne cuisine au Mama's et Watercolour resto.

Je pensais passer mon advanced water aux perhentians (850 - 950 RM) avant de me rendre a sipadan, mais les prix y sont similaires.
On me disait que c'etait possible de plonger a Sipadan meme sans reservation car il y a des annulations frequentes, quitte a patienter un peu...
We’re planning a trip to Thailand for next summer. It’s the rainy season, but that’ll let us explore forest parks (Khao Yai and Khao Sok, most likely) in full bloom and teeming with wildlife. We’d also like to spend a few days on beaches with nearby coral reefs during this trip. That’s where we’re hitting a snag—I’m struggling to find an island or region with favorable weather. I’ve gone through quite a few threads on this forum, but most are pretty old and mention a few names (Tao, Phaluai, Ma, or Phang Nga), though with doubts about visibility or overall appeal. Crowds also seemed like a bit of an issue. Just to clarify, our family has mixed interests when it comes to fish-related activities—some are Level 1 divers, while others are snorkelers only.
Are there any good options in July-August for great experiences in the area?

I’d describe myself as a "former diver." I’ve done around 450 dives in natural environments across different settings. I put diving on hold about 5 years ago due to work/schedule constraints and, let’s say, family reasons. Since then, I’ve still tried to stay in shape with hiking trips, running, swimming, and freediving in protected environments, etc...

We’ll be in Dahab again this October—we’ve been going since 1979—to freedive. In 2025, to our surprise, access to the Blue Hole is now paid: on top of the 10 € taxi fare, you have to pay $10 per person to enter the park. So we’re heading outside Dahab to the Three Pools site by bike, rented locally. Is there a bus that goes there, or shared taxis, instead of the tourist taxis? And where can we catch them? We’ve seen big buses full of local families on the site, but we don’t know where to find them. Thanks in advance!

For flight schedules and prices from Bordeaux, and ease of reaching Alexandria by bus/train afterward, I’m considering spending 4 days around Hurghada (direct flight from Bdx).
I don’t think I’ll go for courses to get my Level 1, since I don’t plan to dive often in the future—unless you think it’s better than doing 2 discovery dives in this area (I only have one baptism under my belt, in Koh Tao 15 years ago—amazing! But I’m not targeting trips for diving; I need to go to Alexandria, so this is a chance to get back into diving and snorkeling).
I’m looking for a spot to do some snorkeling, 1 or 2 baptisms, and explore the surroundings. I’ll arrive in early March on the evening of Day 0. I’ll have 3.5 days after that (I’m planning to leave on Day 4 around 4 PM by bus/train).
Is Hurghada completely to be avoided in favor of another area in the Red Sea, or can I still have a nice 3.5 days there? I know places like Dahab are more pleasant, but the convenience and timing of Hurghada appeal to me...
I usually prefer more authentic travel spots and places, but I’m willing to compromise on that if it’s still worth it for the diving.
Or should I only stay 2.5 days and head to Alexandria a day earlier? (I’ve already seen Cairo and Luxor a bit.)

I’m looking for a destination in Vietnam for January to spend a week and go snorkeling.
Anyone have any suggestions?
I know Thailand well, and with my Thai friend, we’d like to try a different country.
This is the excursion we shouldn’t have done in Mauritius.
We did it with The Friendly Dodo, but from what I saw, it’s the same with most agencies.
Departure at 6 a.m. (even though the sun rises at 7 a.m. in August). Why? Because there’s only one well-known spot where the dolphins are, and all the agencies race to get there first.
For 45 to 60 minutes, it’s just straight-line navigation to the spot. No one’s looking for dolphins—we’re just speeding there in silence, full throttle.
Once we arrive, there are already 5-6 boats. The dolphins are there, sure. The boats fight for the best position, cutting off the dolphins’ path, and then—go, go, go—everyone jumps in. Not a single instruction is given on how to approach the dolphins respectfully. Result: everyone jumps in at the same time from 3 boats, creating a huge splash, and rushes toward the dolphins. Outcome: faced with this chaos, the dolphins dive, and you can’t see them from the boat anymore. The swimmers who are right in their path might see them pass below for a few seconds at best.
Everyone climbs back onto the boats, and as soon as the dolphins resurface, the same cycle starts all over again.
After 5 or 6 jumps like this (3 of which I didn’t even see the dolphins), it’s back to the port the same way we came.
Not a single explanation is given during the entire excursion about the dolphins themselves or how to approach them.
Safety-wise, I didn’t feel comfortable either with all the boats fighting for position. I bumped into another boat (no pain) while swimming, and I wasn’t reassured about the propellers.
With all this circus, my daughters didn’t even want to get in the water. The problem is, when you stay on the boat, you don’t get much out of it either—because as soon as the dolphins resurface, everyone jumps in haphazardly and scares them off again.
Having done the same kind of outing in Réunion, I can confirm it’s nothing like this (much better organized and ultimately much more rewarding in Réunion).
Under these conditions, this is an activity we never should’ve done! !

I’ve been in Malaysia for a month now and still have two more to go. I started traveling with friends, but I’ll be solo for the next month and a half.
We did a pretty classic route: Perhentians, Cameron Highlands (which I found pointless), Tioman, and Kinabatangan in Borneo. Now I’m thinking of heading to Redang Island—Langkawi is also an option, but it doesn’t appeal to me as much. Any feedback on these two spots?

So far, I haven’t had much luck with diving—at the Perhentians, it was pretty disastrous with water at 31°C 😵😫
I’d love to find a nice island where I can meet people (locals and travelers) because going from a group of six to solo at the end is going to feel weird.

Hi there, my husband loves fishing, and during our upcoming vacation in French Polynesia, he’s planning to do two half-day trips. We’ll be staying in family-run guesthouses on the following islands: Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Bora Bora, Rangiroa, and Fakarava. We’re heading to South Africa for a two-week vacation next March.
We’d love to see great white sharks and maybe even try the cage diving. We’re planning to go to Gansbaai—do you think we’ll have a chance to see them? Also, do you know of any specialized agencies that aren’t too commercial and are respectful of the animals?

notre voyage en Indonésie étant annulé, et notre agence nous déconseillant l'Egypte, nous sommes à la recherche d'un lieu où nous pourrons faire du snorkeling depuis la plage (et en excursion bateau). Je connais un peu Zanzibar pour y être allé il y a plus de 10 ans, ainsi que Pemba (mais les prix ont explosé), et je me tourne aussi vers Mafia.
Est ce propice au snorkeling , des resorts ont ils des house reef où l'on peut voir des choses intéressantes (je ne m'attends pas non plus au niveau de la Sulawesi ou des Raja).

Je pose ma question malgré la situation incertaine actuellement, mais évidemment mon plan de voyage est conditionnel à l'évolution de la pandémie, donc merci de vous abstenir ceux qui me diraient juste de rester chez moi ;)
Donc, je planifie de passer l'hiver au sud de l'Europe, et ou vers les Balkans et j'aimerais savoir si c'est partout de la plongée en eau froide donc avec le drysuit et tout ou s'il y a des endroits qui sont superbes et ou je peux plonger avec un suit plus épais seulement même exemple en février et mars. J'ai lu pas mal ici sur le portugal et malte https://divezone.net/diving/portugal mais j'aimerais l'opinion récente de plongeurs du coin! :)
Ce que j'aime en plongée c'est l'eau claire, les fonds marins attrayants, la vie aquatique particulière, etc. Je ne suis pas une fan d'épaves, mais je considérerai tout les sites / pays proposés :)
