Is it possible to arrive in Hong Kong to travel to China?

Hi, I’m planning a trip to China. My question might sound silly, but I’m still wondering:

If I book a flight Paris–Hong Kong–Paris, will I be able to enter China (for example, go to Shenzhen, Guangzhou, then head north) without any issues? And return?

Because Hong Kong seems a bit separate, maybe with a land border to cross?

Thanks for your insights.

Hi there,

Yes, no problem. Visa exemption for HK (3 months) and for China (30 days) in 2025.

So I have a new question. I’m planning to go for 3 weeks, so I won’t need a visa. With that, could I, for example, go to Macau for a day from Hong Kong? And then continue my trip in China?

Good evening, Yes, it's all good, but for China, you'll need to enter before December 31, 2025, for the 30-day visa exemption as of today. The exemption *might* be extended in 2026, but there’s no news yet.
Cordialement, Patrick.
