Je ne regarde pas la suite, mais il serait bien que vous vérifiez les distances et temps de parcours avec Google Map

Par exemple, faire Bryce en aller-retour sur la journée depuis Page : infaisable et du gâchis.
Je ne suis pas sûre que loger à Cody soit judicieux pour une visite de Yellowstone.
Un jour pour Arches et Canyonlands, impossible. En venant de Green River et en dormant à Mesa Verde en plus ! 🤪

Ton jour 2 : Déjà Clearfield-Old Faithful, c'est au moins 6 heures de route... Donc, dans ce qui te reste de cette journée, tu veux caser Old Faithful - Turquoise pool - Grand Canyon de Yellowstone - Hayden Valley et aller dormir à Cody, tout en ayant vu le rodéo !!!

ce n'est pas pour vous décourager mais vous n'allez pas rentrer "fatigués avec des images plein les yeux" mais mort crevés avec peu d'images car à part faire de la voiture, vous n'aurez pas le temps de voir grand chose 😕
pouvez vous encore changer certaines résas ???
- Jour 1 : vous arrivez à quelle heure à SLC ? et quel jour ? le Tabernacle n'est pas ouvert en permanence...
- Jour 2 : vous devez déjà faire la route entre SLC et Yellowstone, soit quasi 6h de route pour aller à Old Faifhtful !!!!
et encore 1h/1h30 pour aller au Grand Canyon de Yellowstone !!! environ 40 min pour aller à Hayden Valley et encore 1h30 pour aller à Cody ...
au total 9h30 de route, sans compter un seul arrêt, ni visite... l'enfer 🏴☠️...
- Jour 3 : l'aller retour Cody-Yellowstone-Cody n'est vraiment pas optimal !
Pouvez vous annuler vos résas à Cody et trouver plus proche ?? à West Yellowstone par ex (dans Yellowstone, il doit être trop tard)...

- Jour 7 : Green River - Arches NP - Canyonlands. Nuit : Mesa Verde (Far View Lodge)
Impossible !!! 🏴☠️ ou alors en ne faisant qu'un arrêt photo à la japonaise... Arches NP demande au moins une bonne journée de visites et Canyonlands (j'imagine la partie Island in the Sky + éventuellement Dead Horse Point) demande au minimum du minimum 1/2 journée... et après, il faut encore 3h30 de route vers Mesa Verde...
- Jour 8 : Mesa Verde - Valley of the Gods - Monument Valley - Page (Lake Powel resort)
mais vous visitez quand exactement ?? rien que de route, il y en a pour 5h... Mesa Verde, vous y consacrez combien de temps ? Et Monument Valley ?
si vous pouvez annuler votre résa pour cette nuit là à Page et dormez à Mexican Hat ! la journée sera ainsi raisonnable et vous visiterez Monument Valley en fin d'après midi, ce qui est une bonne heure et vous apprécierez le coucher de soleil... et le lendemain (J9), réveil de bonne heure pour aller à Page ...
- Jour 10 : Page - Bryce Canyon - Page
pas très optimal cet aller - retour ... (6h d'aller retour)... et peu de temps pour apprécier Bryce... ni lever ni coucher de soleil sur place... dommage...

globalement, j'adhère bien sûr à ce trajet 😎... ça implique de changer pas mal de résas, mais ça doit encore être possible !!!
peut être que je supprimerais l'étape à Torrey et à Zion pour gagner un jour à SFO et un jour pour relier plus tranquillement Death Valley à Yosemite (stop à Lee Vining)... mais de totue façon, ce serait beaucoup plus raisonnable ainsi ...

Bon... ben... ça ne servait à rien de demander notre avis... puisque vs ne changez rien!
En même temps, je comprends l'ampleur de la tâche: devoir changer ttes vos réservations à 2 semaines du départ!!... mais il y avait encore moyen...car sur place, cela vous sera encore plus difficile!!
Rien que pour reprendre l'exemple de vos 2 premiers jours, quand vous dites "Route vers Cody et 1,5 jours pour déambuler dans le parc", vous faites erreur: quand vs aurez fini de faire les trajets, il ne vs restera pas 1.5 jours pour sortir de votre voitureet enfin voir à quoi ressemble le Yellowstone.
Et de la route, vs ne verrai pas grand chose des geysers et pools... et encore moins du Grand Canyon... Quant à l'observation de la faune, cela demande aussi bcp de temps!
De plus, au Yellowstone (comme ds la plupart des parcs), la vitesse est limitée à 45M/h... et souvent on perd du temps à cause des travaux routiers (qui provoquent des attentes à cause du sens de la circulation en alternance) et des bouchons provoqués par les voitures se garant n'importe comment à cause des animaux traversant inopinément les routes ...
Et puis pourquoi aller dormir à Cody (par 2x en plus)?? Quand vs y arriverez, tout ce qu'il y a à voir ds cette ville sera fermé!

Il vaut mieux prévoir bcp et devoir supprimer, que de se retrouver sans rien à faire.

Là vous avez prévu un parcours tout simplement pas possible... vous devrez sans doute changer des hebergements au dernier moment... Alors pourquoi ne pas le faire maintenant? L'annulation est gratuite jusqu'à la veille. Alors que sur place, quand vous vous rendrez compte qu'il est 21h, que vous n'aurez pas mangé, et qu'il vous reste 3h de trajet pour gagner votre hotel et marre de la route, vous vous retrouverez à chercher un motel de suite sans avoir pu annuler celui prévu?
Regardez une carte, et vous vous rendrez compte de l'ampleur du voyage (je n'ose dire "vacances") qui vous attend, alors qu'il suffirait de modifications et d'annulations de certains coins pour que ca rentre dans l'ordre ;)
Voila ! Avec une présentation plus lisible , on obtient des réponses 🙂
Ensuite , .......... tout est dit ci-dessus, ton pseudo aurait dû nous faire soupçonner le résultat , un voyageur virtuel 😉 !
Alors oui, virtuellement c'est possible, par contre "dans la vrai vie" comme disent les gamins aujourd'hui ça va coincer, mais tu n'es pas inquiet ! Ben moi non plus 🙂

Je crois que vous n'arrivez pas à imaginer ce que représentent les distances et les endroits à visiter (tous ne sont pas de simples points de vue sur le bord de la route)... Yellowstone c'est plus grand que la Corse... et vu toutes les distances que vous avez à parcourir, vous n'y passerez pas du tout 1.5 jours à "déambuler" (by the way, je doute qu'on "déambule" à Yellowstone... )... 😕
Votre programme n'étant pas tenable, c'est une certitude, il va vous falloir "sabrer" plein de visites tous les jours... tout ça pour ne faire quasi que de la route... c'est quand même dommage et frustrant, non ? ou alors le but c'est juste de dire : j'y étais, j'y suis passé, je l'ai "fait" (et pas j'ai visité, apprécié, profité)... 😐
Bref...
A 15 jours du départ, il est encore possible de corriger un peu le tir... il suffit d'annuler qq résas (ce qui est gratuit, en général jusque 24h avant le jour J)... et d'en refaire d'autres 😉
Et si jamais tu ne changes rien, alors oui on attend le compte rendu avec impatience ! 😛

Si votre carte routière des USA est de la même taille (papier) que celle que vous avez de la Belgique,
il faut faire la différence entre le 1 deux-millionième et le 1 deux-cent-millième
C'est à peut près l'ordre de grandeur de vos erreurs d'appréciation
Le Wyoming est près de 10 fois plus grand que la Belgique

Vouloir faire BRYCE de Page à Page en une journée est impossible
Jour 11 : Horseshoe Bend (Matin) - Grand Canyon (Sud) Nuit : Grand Canyon (Best Western Grand Canyon Inn)
A partir de là ca devient encore plus n'importe quoi.
Pourquoi aller à LV et surtout la DV pour redescendre sur San Diego ensuite.
A mon avis, il vaudrait mieux faire Grand Canyon->San Diego-> LA -> Las Vegas-> Death Valley -> YOSEMITE par Mammoth lake, LEE vining -> San francisco par OAKHURST MERCED MONTEREY
En passant par sequoia Ntl Forest, vs faites l'ouest de Yosemite -> dans ce cas là, evitez de vouloir dormir à l'ouest à Mammoth Lake De plus Mammoth lake est tres au sud de l'entrée est de YOSEMITE . Vs n'avez pas à descendre si bas.
Jour 19 : Yosemite Nuit : Manceta (Holliday Inn Express)
Vs refaites une 2° fois la TIOGA PASS...
Jour 23 : Une plage au calme au nord de SF.
Vs allez faire quoi sur une plage au nord de SF. Vs allez courir comme des fous pendant 3 semaines, et buller sur une plage où on ne peut même pas se baigner. Il vaudrait mieux aerer plus votre voyage
Disons que nous avons pu voir la différence entre "le papier" et "la réalité" 😉. "L'agressivité", c'est parfois parce qu'on nous demande des critiques sur un parcours, et que quand on en formule, on a l'impression que la personne en question sait déjà tout mieux que tout le monde et ne voulait que des compliments sur son super parcours (je précise que je ne parle pas pour vous en particulier, même si vous nous avez bien demandé de "nous lâcher" 😉).
Pour la température à Muir Beach, s'ils le disent... Micro-climat par rapport à San Francisco, peut-être ? 😇
Vous êtes des lève-tôt et comptez sur des journées de 11 heures... Why not ? Nous sommes comme ça aussi. Mais ce rythme, on le tient à mon avis sur une grosse dizaine de jours, pas sur 3 semaines. Et pas sur autant de kilomètres. Mais là encore, c'est vous qui voyez !

La météo de Muir beach en septembre 2009 donne 26 °c de moyenne l'aprem.
Oui, mais le bord de mer est tres frais, et l'eau est carrement froide.
Et comment savoir si ce jour en particulier, il ne va pas pleuvoir, ou etre plus frais que d'autre.

Léve-tôt : Si c'est pour être à 300 kms du 1er parc à visiter, ça ne sert à rien non plus car tu arrives trop tard pour les meilleurs moments, lever ou coucher de soleil.
L'erreur est de vouloir remplir des journées en vrac sans se préoccuper du bon timing ou de la chaleur.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:

- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.

The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
