J'épluche depuis quelques moi déjà les informations et forums que j'ai trouvé afin de préparer mon voyage.
Ce voyage est clairement orienté photographie ma passion, mais surtout, au retour, écriture d'un carnet de voyage en mots et images.
Les utilisateurs de VF intéressés par les USA ont peut-être vu passer le lien vers mon carnet de voyage relatant mon dernier voyage (vous trouverez le lien sur mon site http://www.typolover.com/) et je souhaite réaliser le même style de journal sur mon périple islandais.
Mais pour cela j'ai besoin de l'aide des experts du pays des elfes !!
En effet, j'ai pour l'instant réuni des informations sur des lieux à voir pour diverses raisons, et j'ai, au fur et à mesure dressé ma carte, et donc un parcours.
Oui mais voilà, ce parcours est un peu tortueux, je ne sais s'il est optimisé, et je ne sais absolument pas comment le découper en jour par jour...
Il est donc grand tant que je vous demande quelques conseils, et, pour les photographes parmi vous, je suis preneur de tout tuyau concernant la bonne heure pour la bonne lumière suivant les lieux...
BASE DU ROADTRIP :
Il se déroule du 2 au 25 août au soir (1 heure du mat). Nuit du 2 à Reyk puis départ le 3.
Nous serons deux (ma grilfriend assistante et moi).
Nous avons loué un gros 4x4 à partir du 3 au matin qui devrait nous permettre d'aller où l'on veut et dormir dedans si necessaire.
Je désire faire le parcours en sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre.
Nous avons une bonne tente et pourrons éventuellement faire quelques nuits dans la voiture. Je n'ai réservé aucun logement, si ce n'est l'hôtel à Reyk.
Nous avons donc 22 jours pour faire ce tour, ma première question est donc, au vu de mon parcours, est-ce réalisable ? Et si oui, comment le découper (grosso-modo) ?

Et bien non, je ne vais pas t aider du tout dans tes questionnements...car je ne pars que cet été en islande, et suis tout aussi intérrogative que toi...
Mais j ai parcouru ton carnet de voyage des etats unis par curiosoté, et je ovulais te dire que tes photos y sont vraiment magnifiques, les couleurs surprenantes... vraiment chapeau, ça donne envie! J ai donc hate de voir ton carnet de voyage sur l islande et j espere que tu viendras poster le lien une fois fabriqué.

Je viens de regarder ton projet de voyage. Globalement, ça me parait plutôt bien équilibré et en 22 jours, tu auras le temps de faire ton trajet sans courrir. Le seul point : essaie de gratter une journée quelque part pour l'utiliser à la fin pour la péninsule du Snaefellsnes (en un seul jour, c'est un peu court)...
Et puis, tu passeras peut-être un peu moins de temps que ce que tu as prévu dans le sud (jours 5, 6 et 7) et un peu plus ailleurs. Il faudra quoi qu'il en soit adapter ton trajet en fonction de la météo (si elle est obstinément mauvaise à Vik comme c'est souvent le cas, vas voir plus loin !).
Tu regretteras peut-être de ne pas rester plus longtemps à Landmannalaugar (surtout s'il fait beau !)...
Si j'ai bien vu, tu vas commencer par la péninsule de Reykjanes... à ta place, je démarrerais tout de suite la rotation et je finirais par là s'il te reste du temps car ta journée 22 risque d'être très longue... (petites routes + pistes + beaucoup de km).
Pour le sens de rotation, pas de soucis, dans un sens où dans l'autre il reste le même plaisir de découvrir ces paysages.
Pour le camping, pas de soucis si tu es correctement équipé (tente résistante au vent... il peut être violent, et duvet chaud... j'ai déjà eu des gelées en août).
Pour des conseils en matières de lumières, je ne peux te donner que les classiques que tu connais déjà : tu trouveras des lumières fabuleuses tôt le matin et en fin de journée... mais pas seulement car, en Islande, la lumière est presque toujours fantastique et tu vas pouvoir te faire plaisir. La pureté de l'air est particulièrement apréciable... même par mauvais temps. Gardes l'appareil à la main de toute façon, tu ne pourras pas le lâcher !!!

déjà je tiens à te féliciter pour ton site avec de bien belles photos, je penserai à y laisser un petit mot sur le livre d'or. Mais revenons à l'Islande, c'est marant car à peu de choses près ton parcours ressemble à peu de choses près à celui que j'ai réalisé l'été dernier (sauf que je n'ai pas poussé jusqu'à la péninsule de Snaefless) j'avais fait mon périple en 22 jours et comme toi en louant un véhicule et dodo sous la tente (en camping sauvage). donc si tu veux des renseignements précis sur des points ou des sites particuliers et bien ce sera avec plaisir que j'essairai de te repondre. dans l'ensemble ton parcours va être un régal, seulement c'est au niveau du temps que ça risque de coincer à moins que ce ne soit 22 jours sur place, ou 22 jours avec trajet pour relier l'Islande compris ? Je confirme les dires de Valérie sur le jour 22, tu vas passer plus de temps derrière ton pare-brise poussièreux que derrière ton objectif photo !!! cette journée est à mon avis pas possible à réaliser dans de bonnes conditions, même si je ne connaît pas cette région d'Islande, je me doutes. Tout comme le jour10, tu vas voir la route côtière des fjords de l'est c'est très très beau mais c'est aussi très très long, j'ai bien peur qu'en une seule petite journée tu ne puisse pas la boucler, surtout si tu as des conditions climatiques galères, j'en ai fait la triste experience. Par contre 3 jours dans l'extreme sud de l'Islande me parait un peu long même si tu consacres une journée pleine pour les îles Vestmann, tu peux peut-être raboter un peu de temps sur cette région, Valérie a aussi raison de ce côté là. 2 jours aussi dans la péninsule de Reykjanes me semble aussi un peu long, 1 à 1jour 1/2 doivent faire l'affaire (depuis hier énormement de tremblements de terre ont été ressentis dans cette région avec une moyenne de 4 d'après Richter, amateurs de sensations fortes, bonjour !!! peut être le réveil du volcan du côté de Krisuvik ? ...), après tout le reste me paraît des plus correct, peut être aussi passer un peu plus de temps à Skaftafell, tu le regretteras pas.
Par contre moi je ne postulerai pas pour le poste à pourvoir d'assistant, mais si il te reste une place dans ton sac à dos je veux bien repartir en Islande !!!😉

Toutes ces informations me sont d'une grande aide, car si j'ai cerné à peu près les points forts le long du parcours, j'ai beaucoup de mal à appréhender les temps de parcours, le temps à passer sur chacun des sites pour en ressentir pleinement la grandeur, et accessoirement où passer la nuit à chaque étape.
Du coup, vu que tu as l'expérience d'un parcours similaire, je me permettrais de te poser des questions pour en savoir plus, puisque tu me le proposes 😛.
Je vais je crois revoir ma copie, en me faisant un roadbook non pas par jour, mais par zone :
- tant pour le sud,
- tant pour cette péninsule,
- tant pour ce park national etc.
Ainsi, j'aurais une certaine "élasticité" et pourrais jouer avec la météo.
Ayant pour but de faire un maximum de photos, il serait très dur pour moi d'avoir beaucoup de mauvais temps donc peu de lumière... Ce qui fut apparemment ton cas, à quelle période y es-tu allé ?
Enfin, et pour répondre à ta question, nous y serons du 3 au 25 sans compter le trajet ce qui fait 23 jours pleins sur place.

Voilà un nouveau parcours, mis à jour en tenant compte de vos remarques : un peu plus de temps pour les fjords de l'est et de l'ouest. Oui mais voilà, ça coince un peu car je n'ai qu'une journée pour faire Reykjanes et Blue Lagoon... C'est sur il faut toujours faire des choix !

Pour ce qui est des conditions climatiques, de la pluie tu en auras (comme tout le monde) mais tu peux aussi tomber dans une periode ou il ne pleuvra pas de ton voyage, mais bon la pluie ne dure jamais une semaine entière !!! les vents marins poussent vite les nuages. Par contre du vent tu en auras obligatoirement, ça tu peux pas y couper !!! de la luminosité tu en auras aussi quoique les nuits ralongent un petit peu au mois d'aout mais tu auras droit encore à des journées bien longues. Je ne peux pas dire que j'ai eu beaucoup de mauvais temps et peu de lumière, non sur 3 semaines j'ai eu 5/6 jours de vraiment mauvais mauvais temps à l'est de l'île mais bon dans l'ensemble je peux pas me plaindre, il a fait un temps correct. J'y étais du 26 juin au 16 juillet l'année dernière.
Bon si tu as 23 jours pleins sur place, en travaillant bien tes parcours tu dois pouvoir y arriver. Quel est le chemin pour pouvoir acceder à ton nouveau parcours ?

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

we’re a couple planning a 2-week road trip this August, with a must-stop (about 3 days on Skye). Any route suggestions? Hotel recommendations? Photo spots?
My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.
I’m just starting my research.
We’ll be renting a regular car, not a 4x4.
I’m not finding a ton of info on the North.
Would love your take on all those kilometers—is there a route that lets us cut out a section?
