J'ai l'opportunité d'aller travailler 1 an à Machala en Équateur.
Le salaire proposé est de 700 dollars américains mensuels.
J'aimerais avoir des informations concernant la ville de Machala (est-ce un endroit agréable à vivre, le climat, les gens...?).
Quelles sont les chances de trouver du travail sur place (mon mari est Designer de formation mais peut s'adapter à pas mal de postes) ?
Connaître le prix d'un loyer pour un appartement pour 2 personnes en centre ville.
Le prix moyen à débourser pour les charges du logement et la nourriture (en partant du principe que l'on essaiera de vivre le plus à la locale).
Je souhaite avoir une première expérience à l'étranger, apprendre à parler l'espagnol mais pas à n'importe quel prix.

je connais pas perso Machala mais de reputation. C est la capital de la banane et il y fait tres tres chaud et tres humide. C est une petite ville avec pas mal de richesse grace aux echanges avec le Perou et surtout les tres riches proprietaires des exploitations de banane (equateur 1er exportateur mondial). Je pense que tu peux trouver un appart sympa pour 250/300 usd sans probleme peut etre moins. L equateur c est cool pas cher mais bon ne neglige pas la securite (extranjero=plata) quand meme et opte pour un logement avec un gardien. Pour ton mari ca sera tres dur mais bon qui sait ce que peut nous reserver le destin 😉 !! Dans une ville comme Guayaquil il aurait surement plus de chance, a Machala je suis septique...
Avec 700 usd dollar (il faut penser que c est brut donc - 30 usd environ de moins por les impots preleves a la base) tu devras manger local c est sur mais le poisson n est pas cher et super bon, sans parler des fruits exotiques...En tout cas je pense que ca ne sera pas rose (si vous avez seulement ton salaire bien sur) tous les jours car avoir une voiture c est tres cher et tout les produits importes sont taxes a 40% alors vous n auraient pas droit a bcp d extras ou petits plaisirs. La cote reste quand meme bon marche, c est tres beau et pittoresque et surtout trouver une plage deserte est tres facile (tu peux voir des baleines de juin a septembre, superbes plongees ss marine a puerto lopez pour les amateurs).
Attention le Perou tout proche n est pas forcement bon marche surtout les tres belles stations balneaires proche de la frontiere.

Dans l'idéal, on aurait préféré Quito ou Guayaquil mais ce sont les opportunités qui dessinent les chemins à suivre.

Est-ce possible pour mon mari de faire une demande de visa long séjour en tant que conjoint de française ?
Parce que 90 jours ça me semble un peu juste pour trouver un emploi dans ses cordes.
J'en suis qu'à mes débuts de recherche d'emploi en Amérique latine, alors il ne faut pas se précipiter mais il ne faut pas rater d'occasion non plus ! Nos cœurs balancent.
Franchement je ne pourrai te repondre mais la logique voudrait que comme accompagnant et d autant plus comme epoux, de fait, il devrait beneficier du meme visa que toi (ton possible employeur doit pouvoir de repondre sur ce theme). Peut etre que l ambassade francaise a Quito pourrait te renseigner, ils sont tres sympa et tu peux les joindre par mail.

Il y-at-il des expatriés qui vivent à Loja et qui voudrait bien nous donner quelques conseils svp ?
je connais Loja pour y etre alle recemment et c est une ville tres sympa, assez developpee (+ que machala c est sur!!) ou il y a des universites (la fameuse universidad de Loja), et tout ce dont tu as besoin. Proche il y a la fameuse vallee de Vilcabamba (la vallee de centenaires le gens y vivent tres vieux) ou un centre d etude sur la longevite a ete construit recemment. J y ai sejourne c est un endroit vraiment magique, des decors terribles avec une flore magnifique et un climat parfait ! D ailleurs en parlant de flore, il y aussi une faune particuliere 😉. En effet bcp de touristes gringos (backpackers, hippies jeunes et vieux 😄 ) qui viennent pour le lieu pittoresque et pour tester une infusion d un cactus bien particuliere: hallucinogene 😮 ...!! C est aussi le haut lieu de la production de cafe qui est vraiment excellent et necessaire apres l infusion de cactus !!! Dans cette vallee il y aussi pas de mal d etranger qui viennent y vivre leur retraite dans un cadre vraiment sympa. D ailleurs c est un des rares endroit en Equateur ou je n ai jamais ressenti une certaine insecurite.
Mais pour revenir a Loja, c est une tres bonne option (moi je me laisserai bien tente perso...) et je pense que ton mari aura surement plus d options la-bas. Le climat est vraiment super, les gens d une gentillesse extreme et le cout de la vie vraiment moindre qu a Quito ou Guayaquil (sans parler de l insecurite de ces 2 villes). En plus tu pourras avoir des idees pour le logement en regardant sur des sites type mundoanuncio ou mercadolibre. Cherchez plutot une maison avec un jardin, c est souvent moins chere qu un bon appart en plein centre ville.
Tenez moins au courant de vos avancees, j irai bien vous rendre visite las-bas 😉 !!!
Je suis chef (chef ejecutivo= administratif et gestion du service d alimention) de cuisine (et je suis visiblement pas deborder par le travail 😊 ) dans un grand, fameux et prive hopital dans la vallee en bas de Quito.
Si vous arrivez a Quito je vous loge si vous voulez pour que vous puissiez quand meme voir la capitale et faire connaissance 😉. Vous ne serez pas les premiers je suis specialise en hebergement de petits francais qui se font voler leurs papiers (tres courant dans les bus!!), n est-ce pas Philippe et Kathy? Pour moi aussi, le poste a changé. De prof de Fle c'est passé à coordinatrice pédagogique du département fle dans un Lycée privé.

Pour ma part, j'avoue que je suis très tentée mais que mon mari risque de ne rien trouvé là-bas, en plus c'est un peu dans l'urgence.
Apparemment il y a 2 postes à Machala et on m'en propose un autre à Loja.
Il y aura de la place pour tout le monde.
Par contre 500 euros ça me semble toujours un peu juste...

Ta proposition de poste, semble pourtant plus alléchante.
Moi, j'ai accepté parce que je n'ai jamais travaillé à l'étranger et que ça peut être une bonne expérience.
Le salaire a un peu changé également puisqu'il est passé de 700 dollars à 900. Avec la réduction d'impôt et la couverture de santé à payer il reste finalement 770 dollars pour un mois.
Je me dis que c'est pas byzance mais que, seule, je peux m'en sortir.
Evidemment pour deux ça reste un peu juste, mais il est surement possible que ton mari puisse trouver quelque chose là-bas.
D'après ce que j'ai lu sur le sujet, Loja a l'air d'être une ville vraiment chouette, ouverte et culturelle, comme ton mari est designer, il y a des chances pour que ça intéresse quelqu'un sur place. A quelle hauteur de rémunération ça c'est une autre histoire...

On a un peu suivi tes conversations sur voyagesforum tu as l'air fort sympathique et on voudrait converser un peu avec toi. nous sommes une famille de quatre ma mère a 45 ans, mon père a 46 ans, ma sœur a 17 ans, et j'ai 15 ans. Nous habitons actuellement leste de la France 🇫🇷. Et nous voudrions quitter notre région pour venir habiter en Équateur. Notre projet serait plutôt de l'hébergement touristique sur la côte ouest de l'Équateur (Machala ou jambeli) nous ne parlons pas un seul mot d'espagnol pour l'instant mais nous sommes très motivé pour apprendre cette langue. Pourquoi l'Equateur? Pourquoi Machala (la capitale de la banane) ou Jambeli?
Vous y avez de la famille ou des connaissances?
L'Equateur est en récession économique, vous le savez? Beaucoup de chômage, d'emplois informels précaires. La monnaie est le dollar américain, ce qui pour nous français, est défavorable.
Si vous ne connaissez pas encore l'Equateur, venez-y en vacances avant de faire des projets d'installation. Apprenez l'espagnol, c'est indispensable.
Pour venir ici en vacances, les billets d'avion sont souvent hors de prix à nos périodes de congé scolaire. Alors, il faut économiser.

Cuenca, une très grande ville, au sud de l'Equateur, accueille une importante colonie d'expatriés nord-américains. Le coût de la vie y a fortement augmenté ces dernières années.
Ce que vous avez lu sur la qualité de la vie dans ce pays date déjà de quelques années et est le reflet de statistiques US ou canadiennes.
Désolée. Oui la vie en France n'est pas toujours épanouissante, mais ici nous sommes privilégiés
(prestations sociales, accès à la médecine etc.).
