je souhaite faire un tour à moto dans le Nord de l'Inde... Je pensais louer une moto à Manali, puis monter sur leh et faire une boucle via Srinagar et retour à Manali.
Est-ce que quelqu'un parmi vous aurait déjà fais ce trip j'ai quelques questions:
Adresse pour louer une bonne moto En un mois est-ce faisable Faut-il prendre du matos spécial pour réparations éventuelles ... autres tuyaux de routard appréciable 🏴☠️

On peut dire que tu tombes plutôt pas mal, je viens de faire cet été le trajet Manali - Leh - Srinagar!!
Je ne l'ai pas fait en moto mais en jeep jusqu'à Leh (puis avion pour Shrinagar tu comprendras après pourquoi). Par contre de la moto j'en ai fait une semaine au Rajasthan et donc je sais de quoi je parle.
Pour commencer, en un mois c'est largement possible parce que en jeep chaqu'un des deux trajets que j'ai fait prend 20h non-stop à allure de folie. Ces routes là sont justes en train d'être goudronnées (pour l'instant 60% terre/caillous, 40% bitume). Question paysage: super seulement attention prenez une bonne moto parce notre chauffeur a réussi à casser la suspension à lattes de notre carosse, c'est vous dire l'état du terrain!
En route, nombreuses possibilité de dormir et manger (ça sera toujours agréable pourvu que vous aillez un système immunitaire en or...) Question carburant, je crains qu'il y ait des portions où le ravitaillement me semble pas évident du tout...
En cas de casse, les garagistes sont rares peu et équipés; on a fini le trajet avec un manche en bois pour réhausser la jeep!
En ce qui concerne la conduite en Inde est super dangeureuse en général, mais sur ces "routes" étroites passent périodiquement des camions pressés et la priorité est au plus lourd donc vous avez peu de temps pour dégager. Je ne préciserai pas le nombre quotidien de morts sur les routes du ladakh, les vieilles carcassess témoigneront d'elle seules!
Pour finir votre seul problème sera de trouver une moto. A Leh c'est possible, à Manali j'ai la certitude que non. Si vous en trouvez quand même, les locations ne sont pas chères (la qualité reste à voir) mais rares dans les petites villes.
Cela dit je répète: sur certaines portions, le paysage n'a presque rien à envier au Grand Canyon, Srinagar est tout aussi fascinant.
détail: gare au mal de l'altitude, plusieurs cols au dessus de 5000 mètres sont à franchir, un ami en a vomit du sang (d'où l'avion au retour).
détail pratique: port du casque pas du tout obligatoire, par contre beaucoup de poussière... Quant aux permis, ils s'en fichent: je me suis fait arrêter pour petite infraction (contre sens, c'est courrant en Inde), le type ne me l'a même pas demandé, il voulait plutôt une petite "faveur" en espèce...
Suis parti il y a 2 ans visiter le Nord de l'Inde à moto..
En Inde, tout est faisable et je me sentais plus en sécurité à moto qu'en bus..

Ne loue SURTOUT PAS une moto, le prix est excessif par rapport à l'achat et tu ne sais jamais où tu finiras en Inde..
Par exemple, j'ai acheté une Enfield 350cc qui avait 5 ans, 1.000 Eur et l'ai revendue après mon trip 800 Eur.
Pour 200 Eur, tu ne pourras jamais louer une bécane pour un mois. En plus, ils te demanderont une caution importante sans guarantie de la récupérer... En tous cas totalement, car ils discuteront certainement afin de ne pas te la remettre complètement.
L'inde est, et certainement à moto, est un pays que tu vas adorer et detester dix fois dans la même journée mais fonce, c'est unique..
Question papier : Un permis internationnal.
Assurance indienne non nécessaire car personne n'en a...
Achat casque sur place : 7 Euros.
Si tu as d'autres questions, n'hésites pas..

Des bécanes en Inde, tu en trouveras partout mais méfies toi.. Egalement des routards.
Ces derniers ont souvent besoin de fric lorsqu'ils revendent leur moto donc pas toujours consciencieux.
A Delhi, il y a tout un quartier dédié à la moto autour de Hari Singh Nalwa Street près de Karol Bagh Market.
Une référence en qualité est : Inder Motors.
L'exploitant : Mr Lalli Singh.
S'il n'a pas ce que tu cherches, tu trouveras facilement autour de lui d'autres garages car les Indoux savent qu'il est connu pour sa qualité et son service. Mais les autres, c'est moins clair.. Prends ton temps pour choisir, discute, pars, reviens, rediscute le prix, Repars, Reviens afin de bien comparer.
Chez Inder Motors, tu peux acheter sans risque, quand j'étais dans son shop, un anglais préparait avec lui son Trip : Delhi - Londres !
Pour dormir, toutes les Guesthouses à Delhi sont catastrophiques... Le tuyau pour y avoir été deux fois est le suivant :
Vas à Paharganj, Main Bazaar, la rue juste en face de New Delhi Railway Station.
Ne prends PAS les Guesthouses de cette rue, un vrai bazaar.., mais prends toutes les petites rues perpendiculaires à la rue principale et tu trouveras des Guesthouses OK.
Me lever à l'aube ( 6h ) et découvrir l'inde des campagnes fût merveilleux.. Car en bus, train, Taxi, tous les blancs se retrouvent au mêmes endroits ! A vélo ou à moto, c'est l' Inde authentique que tu vas découvrir.. Rien à voir.

nous avons teste l'Inde a pied, en train/bus, et finalement en moto. C'est un super moyen de se deplacer, car la route devient elle-meme integralement partie du voyage, voir meme c'est parfois mieux en route qu'a l'arrivee! Mais surtout, on s'arrete partout, surtout la ou personne d'autre ne s'arrete.
Nous avons achete notre moto dans le sud et avons decouvert ainsi toutes les chaines de montagnes des Western Ghats et les etats du sud, et partons demain en train (avec la moto dans les baggages) pour decouvrir le Rajasthan.
Nous essayerons ensuite de vendre la becane (Bajaj Avenger 175cc) vers Delhi avant de repartir le 10 mars.... je ne sais pas si c'est simple ou non de revendre son vehicule, mais dans tous les cas, ca vallait vraiment le coup!

Nous venons du 6 juillet au 25 août à Delhi. Mon mari et moi nous voudrions louer chacun une Enfield à Delhi pour faire grosso modo : Delhi, Lac Tso Moriri, Leh, Kargil, Srinagar, Jammu, Amritsar puis boucle au Rajasthan et retour sur Delhi. Nous avons l’habitude de bourlinguer sur les pistes et routes du VietNam et Laos, la conduite ne nous inquiète donc pas. Je suis preneuse de tout renseignements utiles à ce périple.
Je prépare aussi un tour à moto dans le nord de l'inde pour cet été, et j'essaye de trouver des contacts pour louer sur Delhi, j'ai contacté Soni motors et Lalli singh sur Delhi sans retour pour l'instant, est ce que tu as déjà trouvé un loueur qui pourrait vous fournir des motos ?

Merci pour ces infos. Je n'ai pas eu le temps de faire les demandes de prix aux adresses que je t'ai envoyées, je vais tâcher de m'en occuper rapidement. J'ai acheté la carte des éditions Nelles Inde nord que j'ai toute scannée, ça permet de garder la carte à l'abri et en plus elle est difficile à plier, elle a une face en carton rigide. Si ça t'interesse je peux t'envoyer un double de mes scan . Je suis surprise par le prix proposé par rapport à ce que j'avais pu voir sur les forums, c'était plutôt annoncé dans les 800Rp ce qui faisait environ 10€. A 16€/jour ça nous fait un sacré budget à 2 bécannes pour 6 semaines! Même si on peut négocier je ne pense pas que l'on puisse bien descendre. A voir.

J'ai aussi trouvé les tarifs un peu élevé par apport à ca que j'avais pu lire ici et là.
Au final, j'ai le sentiment qu'il vaudra sûrement mieux envisager de formaliser la location une fois sur place quitte à prendre un peu plus de temps que prévu pour ça...
Pour ce genre de choses le contact direct est beaucoup mieux, je vais juste essayer pour l'instant de prendre des contacts par mail.
Merci pour ta proposition, j'ai déjà la carte Nelles Maps mais je veux bien un double des scans si tu les as déjà faits, par contre j'ai aussi une ITM qui couvre le nord de l'Inde, si cela t'intéresse, je peux te proposer la même chose dès que j'aurai passé au scan la zone qui nous intéresse.
Un lien à voir pour des cartes topo qui datent un peu, mais dans ce coin je ne pense pas que les routes changent toutes les semaines...

Bonjour Xtophe, merci pour ta réponse ultra rapide et pro ainsi que pour ton blog. Nous ne louerons pas de moto à Dehli car nous ne sommes pas des motards et nous aimons tellement le train en Inde (et ailleurs dans le monde).. mais nous louons au gré des lieux. La moto permet d'aller "fouiner" dans les lieux isolés et donc de faire des rencontres..c'est le but. Nous savons que c'est un peu tard dans la saison mais nous n'arrivons pas à partir plus tôt.. alors on fera pour le mieux. Espérons qu'à Manali nous trouverons et si tu as un contact sympa c'est bien volontiers. à bientot
Lors du trajet retour, en passant le Rohtang la sous la pluie et dans la boue, j'ai complètement lessivées les plaquettes du frein avant de mon Enfield. j'ai tenté de les faire changer à Manali, sans succès car les vis de maintien au niveau de l'étrier étaient complètement grippées, bref c'est une histoire de mécanique un peu longue... mais il y a un gars très sympa et professionnel qui m'a beaucoup aidé sans compter son temps pour une réparation de fortune, même si au final j'ai fini le voyage sans frein avant 🙂. Je pense qu'il doit pouvoir t'aider à trouver une moto sur place. Je t'envoie ses coordonnées en mp.

Bonjour, le post est un peu vieux mais la question est très intéressante, alors oui on peut louer une moto en Inde mais elle sera 3 fois plus cher qu'à Delhi, le moins cher étant le quartier de Karol Bagh à Delhi.
La boucle est faisable même en 2 semaines. En 45 jours j'ai pu faire Delhi - Haridwar - Gangotri - Mana - Manali - Leh - Srinagar - Jaipur - Agra et j'en passe.
On peut trouver des garages quasiment partout, sauf sur Manali - Leh où il vous faudra de l'essence supplémentaire et pourquoi pas une roue en plus mais ça devrait aller sans.
Pensez vous qu'il est posssible en 2 mois de louer une moto à Dehli (si vous avez une bonne adresse) et descendre dans le sud avec une boucle et retour à…

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Looking for travel companions to ride from France to Senegal by motorcycle.
I’m Paul, 37, and I’ve already done a bit of riding in Morocco.
For now, I’m solo, riding a 1998 SUZUKI DR 650 with some basic gear to keep things smooth. I’ll have a tent so we can do a few nights under the stars.
We’ll need to coordinate departure dates—"ideally in November."

We’re thinking of renting motorbikes, especially to do the Ha Giang Loop. We don’t have an international license, just our Belgian one. Is that enough? If not, is it risky?

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)

We haven’t booked any hotels—is that a problem? We were thinking of deciding day by day based on our progress.
Can we take our helmets with us in the cabin, or should we pack them in the checked luggage surrounded by clothes to avoid damage?
