Hi there, I’m heading to Thailand at the end of June (I know it’s not the best time, but I don’t have a choice) for three and a half weeks, and I’d love your advice on the itinerary. I’d like to visit Koh Lanta, Ko Lipe, Ko Chang, and Ko Kood. What do you think is the ideal order based on the travel logistics? My initial plan was this, after a night in Bangkok to recover from the flight: 1: Flight Bangkok – Krabi, then boat Krabi – Koh Lanta 2: Boat Koh Lanta – Ko Lipe 3: Boat Koh Lanta – Krabi, then flight Krabi – Bangkok, then flight Bangkok – Trat, and finally boat Trat – Ko Chang (quite a long day!) 4: Boat Ko Chang – Ko Kood 5: Boat Ko Kood – Trat, then flight Trat – Bangkok for the return trip.

Is there a better order or a more efficient way to organize this? (For example, starting with Ko Lipe from Hat Yai and then taking a boat to Koh Lanta?) Anyway, thanks in advance for your thoughts and tips, and have a great weekend!

I want to go to Koh Lanta, Ko Lipe, Ko Chang, and Ko Kood—what’s the ideal order in terms of travel logistics?

Hi, Uh, the first two are pretty far from the other two! You’ll need to go to the mainland to catch a flight, but I’m not sure where. Trat? Anyway, I’m not sure if ferries run to Koh Lipe in June/July... If anyone’s been there during that time, could you confirm? Just in case it’s possible to get there, it might be better to avoid it... Ko Chang in the Gulf of Thailand should be a bit better... For better weather at this time of year, Samui or Phangan would be ideal. I’d recommend Phangan...

PS: I just read this:

From May to October, the only way to get to Koh Lipe from Koh Lanta is to reach Pak Bara pier by land via taxi, minivan, or bus. You’ll then take the boat to Koh Lipe at 11:30 AM. This is the only departure we can guarantee between May and October.

Hi there, and thanks for your feedback! Yeah, the first two spots are really far from the other two, which is why I’ve set aside a whole day just for that trip. As you mentioned, I’d love to get more details about Ko Lipe in July. I already know Samui and Phangan like the back of my hand. Or if anyone has suggestions for another place to add alongside Ko Chang and Ko Kood, I’m all ears! :) Thanks again

Indeed, the first two are quite far from the other two, which is why I planned a full day just for this trip.

I don’t think it’s possible to do in just one day!

As you mentioned, I’d love more details about Ko Lipe in July. I already know Samui and Phangan like the back of my hand. Or if anyone has suggestions for another spot besides Ko Chang and Ko Kood, I’m all ears! :)

I went there in February... I’d already heard on-site that ferries don’t run between the islands from May to October. I’ve read that it’s possible in theory, but only from the mainland (Pak Bara). I also read that many guesthouses, hotels, etc., are closed during this period. We’d need feedback from those who’ve tried the trip during this season. You’ll need your sea legs!

In the Gulf of Thailand, I went to Koh Samet (40 years ago!) and it was already polluted!

Why not try the Perhentian Islands? For snorkeling, it's better than in Thailand. And it's the right season! Depart from Bangkok or Kuala Lumpur.. https://voyageforum.com/forum/iles-perhentian-en-juillet-malaisie-d4550150/

Good evening,

after a night in Bangkok to recover from the trip: 1: Flight Bangkok – Krabi then boat Krabi – Koh Lanta

One night in Bangkok to recover from a long flight? Meh, not great... I’d rather recover from the trip the same evening by taking a sleeper train to Trang, and then, well-rested upon arrival, I’d take the little bus to the bus station in 10-15 minutes to catch one of the regular public minivans heading to Koh Lanta.

Actually, you're not going at the right time weather-wise: the season in Koh Lanta usually ends in April. Some places close during the off-season, but personally, I’ve never been there during that time, so...

Thanks for your replies.

Unfortunately, as I already mentioned, I don’t have a choice of dates...

And on Koh Chang and Ko Kood, is it better (or less bad) at this time than Koh Lanta and Ko Lipe? Are there boat connections to Ko Kood and Koh Chang?

Thanks
