Je l'ai eu vite fait au téléphone, il m'a dit qu'il allait certainement prendre la route avec sa voiture de location pour s’éloigner des côtes. Moi je lui ai conseillé de ne pas rouler, que ce serait de la folie que les routes seront prisent d'assaut également et qu'il ferait mieux de louer une chambre dans un hôtel en dur, quitte à y mettre un bon prix et d'attendre que cela passe, quand pensez-vous ?

J'ai des amis Americain qui quitteront Miami demain matin pour éviter tous risques. Toutefois, quel était son programme là bas?
L'ouragan devrait toucher les côtes de la Floride entre samedi et dimanche.
Concernant les risques, personne ne sait vraiment à quoi s'attendre. Personnellement, je ne resterais pas dans les Keys quitte à partir vers les terres pour éviter surtout d'être bloqué en cas de casse.
Je discutais hier soir avec des amis à Miami et ils me disaient que les keys étaient évacuées et qu'à Miami les magasins étaient pris d'assaut et qu'il commençait à y avoir des pénuries d'essence.

Il faut qu'il quitte les Keys. Il a encore un peu de temps.
Mieux vaut qu'il se trouve sur les terres le plus loin possible.
Les routes sont prise d'assault mais il a encore le temps d'avancer...
Rester sur les Keys ce n'est pas une bonne idée à mon avis.
D'ailleurs les autorités ont demandé d'évacuer les Keys...

Au vu de l'ampleur du phénomène, on est vraiment inquiet de ce qui pourrait se passer, il n'a vraiment pas choisi le bon moment pour partir là-bas 2 semaines, on espère que cela s'arrange et que le vol. cette fois ne sera pas annulé. Au pire en touristes c'est quelques jours de galère et d'incertitudes mais pour ceux qui vivent dans ces régions à risques ça doit être terrible.
Le maire de Miami demande l'évacuation des résidents et non-résidents. Son intervention télévisée en dit long sur ce qu'il risque d'arriver.
Il appelle cela un ouragan nucléaire !

J'ai déjà un peu "vécu" il y a 25 ans l'ouragan Andrew, qui passe à ce jour par le plus puissant ayant frappé le Sud de la Floride.
Voyez ICI le CR que j'en avais fait il y a quelques années sur VF.
En ce moment en Polynésie avec un temps merveilleux, j'apprécie que les ouragans soient bien moins fréquents dans le Pacifique Sud 🙂.

Hello, je viens de lire le récit de votre péripétie. Çà devait être l'angoisse. Je ne me suis jamais vraiment intéressé au stress que les gens peuvent ressentir avant l'arrivé d'un typhon, ouragan ou tornade, il a fallut que mon fils soit en Floride et que l'arrivé d'Irma, avec toute sa puissance destructrice annoncé, le coince dans cette futur zone sinistré pour que je m'y intéresse.
Mais ouf, après avoir eu son second vol pour Baltimore ce coup-ci, encore annulé, il a pu prendre un vol à l'instant pour Houston depuis Fort Lauderdale, on est soulagé! D'après ce que j'ai entendu par des gens qui avaient de la famille en Floride, en fait il ne s’agit pas d'annulation de vol, mais des compagnies suppriment des places, pour les revendre quelques fois plus cher que les prix normaux, est-ce vrai, cela ne m’étonnerait pas! C'est vrai que, dans des moments comme ça on ne pense qu'à sa pomme !
Cela ne m'empêchera pas de penser aux gens des îles touchés par ce séisme et à ceux qui le seront ces prochaines heures. De Suisse on ne peut pas faire grand chose, si ce n'est financièrement.

Je viens de regarder un reportage pris à l'aeroport de Miami. Ils ont dit que personne ne sera renvoyé de l'aéroport. Donc au cas ou le vol soit annulé, il devrait rester à l'aeroport. Les "shelters" sont pratiquement plein et je pense que l'aeroport serait la meilleure solution.
J'espère qu'il pourra prendre son vol pour Baltimore.

Je dois repartir à Paris mardi mais c'est l'incertitude sur les dégâts éventuels, Orlando ferme son aéroport aujourd'hui. On est évite de rouler pour garder son essence ! On a plus qu'à attendre !
J'avais déjà vécu Andrew mais sur un bateau de croisières... Miami avant puis au retour avec les dégâts !

I’ve planned a three-week itinerary for this summer, from August 9 to 27, in Sri Lanka:
Negombo – 1 night
Sigiriya and the Cultural Triangle – 4 nights
Kandy – 2 nights
Ella – 3 nights
Tangalle – 6 nights
Colombo Airport – 1 night
I know this isn’t the ideal time for the south since the beach conditions aren’t great, but we’ve booked a hotel with a pool and won’t be swimming in the sea. We want to relax after all the travel since we’re bringing our two kids, aged 6 and 8.
I know the east would be better, but (i) I’m struggling to find suitable accommodation, and (ii) it adds a lot of travel time, and my kids can only handle about 3 hours at a stretch.
I looked into Arugam Bay, but it’s a 7-hour trip back to Colombo from there.
I’ve checked every weather site imaginable, but they don’t all agree. Do you think we’ll spend our whole trip in the rain, or is the monsoon in the south mostly limited to the sea, as I’ve read?
I’m worried about ending up in the middle of a natural disaster with my two young kids, given recent events.

This year, 2026, I can only get away in April and May. I never travel during these months usually, and from what I know, they aren’t the best for India. But in such a big country, there are always spots that are better than others weather-wise.

I’ve looked into a few different options: Brazil, Cambodia, and Ecuador. The last one really appeals to me, but what’s making me hesitate is the risk of our trip being a bit too rainy (literally ),
We’re more drawn to the Andes, exploring colonial cities, typical villages, markets, and a bit of the coast. We’ve already gotten a taste of this in Bolivia, Colombia, and Chile. Plus, we’d love to do part of it by car since we’re used to driving at our own pace and stopping whenever we feel like it. Anyway, time’s running out, and I need to decide so I can finalize a route and book the tickets!!

I’ve planned a trip to Asia for the first half of November.
I’ll arrive in Singapore at the start of November for about 3 days, and I’ll leave from Bangkok in mid-November.

Just giving you the quick context: A group of friends and I are planning a trip to South Korea (Seoul/Busan) at the end of June/July next year. It falls right in the middle of the monsoon season, but we don’t really have other availability options.😕
I’d love to hear from people who’ve visited the country and these cities during this period—basically, is it not as bad as it sounds, or should we just cancel our tickets (we don’t mind the heat, it’s mostly the rain that scares us).
I know there are plenty of indoor activities, but do you think we’ll still manage to get a few sunny days, or will it be torrential rain for our entire 2-week trip?
The only other country we’ve visited during the rainy season is Brazil (in the northeast) around the same time, and honestly, aside from a few really annoying downpours, we had sunshine most of the time and it was awesome. That said, the climate is totally different, so I’m not sure how relevant the comparison is.

Personally, I see a promising opportunity here—jumping on this adaptation to extreme climates before others do, since they’re inevitably coming.
From my own travel experience, I’ve met a few guides so far who are starting to adjust, like in Egypt, Kenya, Senegal, and elsewhere.
They avoid crowds and the hottest hours by starting their tours around 6–7 AM, when it’s cooler.
Yeah, you’ve gotta wake up early, but the payoff is so worth it. 😴
If you’ve got any great tips like this, why not discuss them in this thread and share addresses or websites where the people in charge have realized climate change is real and are adapting? 😊
