(Jérôme 25 ans) voilà mon petit cas de conscience, j ai pour projet de partir un mois en séjour linguistique durant le mois d'août prochain, famille d accueil et cours les matinées.
Je dois réserver courant du mois prochain.
Depuis des années je suis fixé sur l Australie (Airlie Beach, Cairns) mais un doute m empare depuis peu avec les USA (Los Angeles, San Diego ou Miami).
Mon but étant de perfectionner mon anglais tout en étant au soleil et en ayant pas mal d activités (nautiques, etc.) après les cours (en considérant mon départ pour Août), je n ai pas envie de me retrouver dans un coin perdu ni dans une ville ou on ne sait pas respirer, j aimerais un juste milieu en fait (l'endroit dont on ne veut plus partir en fait.. ;-))
Auriez-vous des avis, expériences ou tout autre choses pour m aider dans mon choix (qui se rapproche vraiment..) ??
Peut être quelqu un qui s est retrouvé dans la même situation ?
Bonjour Jérome ! Je m'appelle Jacques et j'ai 28 ans.
Si tu veux profiter d'un cadre magnifique au soleil tout en jouissant d'un large choix d'activités et notamment nautiques, suivant mon expérience, je te conseille de te renseigner sur ST Petersburg, côté ouest de la Floride. Proche de Tampa et de Orlando.
Il y a 4 ans d'ici, je suis parti après mes études universitaire pour 6 mois là-bas afin de perfectionner mon anglais car j'en avais besoin pour mon activité professionnelle. Je ne regrette rien ! Ce fut une expérience incroyable. J'avais opté pour une formule "All inclusive" auprès de AILS. C'est un organisme compétent qui organise ce genre de séjour linguistique. Cette formule comprenait à l'époque mon logement, mes cours d'anglais, une pension complète, diverses activités. Petite précision, l'école ou je suivais des cours se trouvait sur le campus universitaire d'Eckerd. Étant inscrit dans cette école, j'ai reçu une carte spéciale d'étudiant. Celle-ci me donnait un accès illimité aux infrastructures sportives sur le campus. Tu t'imagines bien la taille du campus et des terrains de baseball, de basketball, de Lacrosse, de tennis, la piscine olympique, les salles de fitness... GIGANTESQUE ! De plus, j'avais un accès illimité aux restaurants du campus. L'école à également une plage privée ou tu peux faire de la voile, du kayak gratuitement. Il y a aussi du jet-ski, kitsurf... T'as le choix crois moi.

de cette destination, à la base j étais fixé sur l'Australie puis je me rends compte que c'est très très loin. Je viens de regarder un peu ce qu ils proposaient, ca m'a l'air vraiment pas mal du tout, ça allie kazi tout ce que je recherche pour mon séjour linguistique. Tu étais dans une famille ? C était durant quelle période ?
Par contre il y a juste un petit bémol, le climat au mois d'août n est peu etre pas le plus recommendable ?
Je suis parti de mars à août. Et je peux te dire que les mois de juillet et août sont des plus agréables. Surtout quand tu as la plage à proximité !
Pour répondre à ton autre question. Je séjournais en résidence sur le campus même. Je partageais une chambre avec un brésilien qui est devenu un très bon ami. On est toujours en contact. L'ambiance est vraiment décontractée. Il y a toujours du monde sur le campus, étudiants américains comme étrangers.
Ce qui n est pas rassurant c est que sur les sites météo ils indiquent qu'il pleut 16 jours sur le mois d'août, ça a de quoi inquiéter...
Tu as eut beaucoup de pluie durant le mois d'août ?
Pour la résidence je vais réfléchir mais je vais surement plus m orienter vers une famille d accueil..
Si ça peut te rassurer, comme je vois que tu es aussi de Belgique, si il pleut en Floride, cela ne dure que quelques minutes pas plus. Ce sont des puissantes pluies mais très courtes. Et la température ambiante fait que ce n'est pas du tout désagréable, tu peux rester dehors. C'est pas comme la froide pluie que l'on connaît au plat pays !!! ah ah ah.
Pour ma part, je ne me souviens pas que le mois d'août que j'ai passé à ST Petersburg ai été déplorable... Et puis, les prévisions météorologiques restent des prévisions météorologiques: aléatoire...
C'est bien pour la famille d'accueil. J'avais pas mal d'amis qui séjournaient en famille et elles étaient vraiment proches du campus.
Concernant les pluies c est ce que j ai entendu aussi..en esperant que la chaleur ne soit pas trop pesante..
Par contre en famille d accueil penses tu que je ne vais pas être un peu coincé pour les sorties le soir ou autres ?
J ai pas trop envie de faire un retour en enfance et d'être un peu "babysitté"..lol
Question bonus, sais tu me dire si ils sont bien équipé dans ce campus pour le tennis ? (1 mois sans jouer, impossible..🙂)

Moi je pense partir à New York ou Miami, Los angeles il parait que c'est vraiment IMMEnse par concéquent pour se déplacer c'est pas le top !!
Je compte partir aussi un mois en aout !! Je fais plusieur demande aupres des différents organisme je verrai laquelle me correspond le mieux. Tu compte partir avec quel organisme ??

Bienvenu au club alors, moi à la base je suis pas trop fan des grosses villes donc si je peux éviter j évites, un jour ou deux ca va mais pas 1 mois complet,
pour le moment perso j'hésite entre Santa Barbara (proche de LA ce qui peut etre pas mal) et St Petersburg.. Miami ca doit être sympa aussi mais le temps me fait un peu peur...(comme st petersburg)!
J ai fais des devis dans 2 organismes, ESL Luxembourg et AILS belgique, il n y a pas vraiment de différence de prix (c est les mêmes écoles de toute manière) sauf pour la destination St Petersburg que ESL n a pas..je vais réserver le mois prochain normalement ( une fois que mes congés seront posés et acceptés.. 😉) et surtout une fois que j aurai fais mon choix ! lol
Imagines quand même que il y a peu j étais vraiment fixé sur l'Australie...j ai encore un peu le temps de douter de toute façon..

Pour les familles, ne t'inquiète pas trop. C'est loin d'être du babysitting. Tu es libre de tes mouvements, c'est la moindre des choses.
Quand j'étais en séjour en Angleterre, j'étais dans une famille d'accueil. Tout s'est bien passé. Tant que tu rentres pas à 3h du mat' en réveillant toute la maison !!!! Et puis, si la famille ne te convient pas, tu changes.
Pour les terrains de tennis. Ils sont vraiment bien équipés. Tu en avais pléthores, genre 8 en extérieur, sur le campus. De quoi taper la balle allègrement ! En plus, c'est super bien entretenu. A l'américaine quoi !

Franchement ... quand tu y gouttes !! J'ai fais pas mal de Pays ( Malte, Canada, angleterre, Irlande ) en deux ans. Maintenant.. je peux plus m'en passer si j'ai pas ma dose d'avion ca va pas !!
Les Etat Unis ... juste énorme ville qui pour moi est inaccessible telement c'est immense !! Voila la raison je suis attiré par les choses immenses.. .
J'ai envi d'aller à l'aventure découvrir etc..
J'ai 21 ans l'année prochaine je passe ma derniere année d'ingé, j'aurai donc pas le temps de profiter. Apres je suis salarié ac plein de responsabilités.. forcément ca va être difficile. Donc je veux absolument le faire maintenant et quand je veux un truc moi !!
Ensuite du fait de mes études je dois avoir le TOEIC à 750 pts donc si je peux voyager intélligement c'est a dire réaliser un reve tout améliorant mon niveau il faut le faire.
Sinon moi je pense partir sur New York ou alors MIAMI !! Je fais 6, 7 demandes, je vais voir lequel saura me convaincre. Si tu veux on se tient au courant.
Mais une chose à sur, cet été, je serai aux US.
moi je bosses depuis 6 ans comme graphiste et je fais des cours du soir pour devenir web developer/web designer ( j ai 25 ans ) et ca me travaille depuis quelques années donc voila je me lance cette année pour ce séjour et d ici 3 ans (kan j aurai fini mes cours) je compte partir 1 an en Australie si tout va bien.
En tout cas tu as bien raison de vouloir profiter maintenant, ca passe tellement vite ces foutues années..lol
Pas de soucis on se tiens au courant pour nos séjours respectifs, suspens quand au choix en tout cas, il va y avoir encore pas mal d heures sur le net en perspectives..lol

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
