Pour Con Dao nous ne ferons que le retour en avion (le 22 car il n'y a pas de vols le 23 et nous repartons pour Phu quoc le 24). Idem pour l'aller. Les jours ne correspondent pas. Or, on voudrait rester 3 jours sur l'île. Espérons que la mer sera clémente avec nous. Sinon on changera de programme. Je n'ai pas trop parlé des tortues et de la nuit à la belle étoile au reste de la famille car j'ai peur que cela ne puisse pas se faire. Je crois que la saison des pontes ne commence qu'en mars mais je ne suis pas sûre. Ces dames auront-elles la gentillesse de bien vouloir pondre avant ? En tout cas je suis preneuse d'infos supplémentaires pour l'organisation de ce périple.
Je vous ai promis de vous donner toutes les info utiles pour bien profiter de l'archipel de Con Dao. Je crée ce topic spécialement pour organiser l'expédition à la plus belle plage du VietNam et peut-être de l'Asie du Sud Est🙂
Tout d'abord quelques photos pour illustrer
Une fois arrivé et installé à votre hotel, précipitez à l'accueil de l'hotel pour vous renseigner sur une sortie en mer comprenant l'ile de Bay Canh où j'ai pris ces magnifiques photos. L'ile est célèbre pour abriter cette plage où les tortues viennent pondre la nuit, l'eau est turquoise et les poissons multicolores sont très beaux que l'on peut observer à l'aide d'un simple masque et tuba.
Si à l'époque de votre présence sur l'ile, il n'est pas organisé de sortie en mer, vous pouvez le provoquer par vous-même en trouvant 10 personnes pour partager les frais, c'est ce que j'ai fait moi-même avec 2 français, 2 canadiens, une finlandaise, un allemand et un grec et 3 vietnamiens. ça coute 2 000 000 DongVN pour la journée, ce qui revient à 200 000 par personne (10 euros)!
Pour cela, téléphonez à l'accueil du Parc National au numéro (064) 830 669 et si vous ne parlez pas couramment vietnamien, faites vous aider par l'accueil de votre hotel. Vous demandez la mise en disposition d'un bateau pour le lendemain, l'autorisation du responsable du Parc National pour cette sortie et éventuellement l'autorisation d'y dormir à la belle étoile pour observer les tortues. Vous pouvez éventuellement commander les repas ou vous faire confectionner des sandwichs par votre hotel.
Le lendemain matin à 8 heures précises, tout le monde doit être présent sur le quai du petit port du centre ville.
Pour ceux qui le souhaitent, je donnerai en MP les coordonnées personnelles du responsable du parc national au cas où vous rencontrez des difficultés pour l'organisation de cette promenade en mer.

L'ile se trouve dans le parc national donc elle sera préservée contre toute construction bétonnée comme on voit dans d'autres pays. Meme dans 20 ans, tu pourras retrouver l'ile comme elle est maintenant.
Derrière la plage, bien cachée du regard, il y une seule maison qui abrite les personnes chargées de la surveillance et de la récupération des oeufs de tortue pour les faire éclore et que dès que les petites tortues seront suffisamment grandes, elles seront relâchées et on sera sur qu'elles se retrouvent peut-être à l'autre bout du monde, mais elles reviendront pondre dans l'ile.
Amenez vos repas et vos boissons, et n'oubliez pas de ramener vos poubelles.
Les masques et tuba d'excellente qualié, tout neuf, sont à votre disposition sur le bateau.

Oh ces photos ! A couper le souffle. Nous emporterons précieusement avec nous le nom de l'île et le numéro de l'accueil du parc national. Si on peut avoir en MP, en plus, le numéro du responsable, ce sera super.
S'il faut être 10, vu que nous sommes déjà 5 ça ne devrait pas être trop difficile de trouver 5 autres personnes. Nous ne parlons pas vietnamien mais nous avons un ami guide vietnamien qui nous sert d'interprète pour les relations avec la famille et qui nous accompagne partout. Mais peut-être n'est-il jamais allé sur l'île de Bay Canh. Mais avec vos renseignements et sa connaissance du et des vietnamiens, on devrait pouvoir réaliser ce projet qui a l'air très alléchant sans trop de difficultés !

Il est plus pratique de prendre l'avion, ce n'est pas plus cher que le bateau. Il faut acheter les billets directement chez VASCO, qui dessert maintenant tous les jours l'ile à partir de Tan Son Nhat.
De plus y-a t'il des hotels petit budget ? (je suis étudiante)
Il y a deux hotels à petit budget, 10 à 12 Euros par nuit. L'un qui est en bordure de mer, face au ponton du centre ville n'est pas au norme de propreté, l'autre tout neuf, derrière la poste, à quelques rues derrière, est propre et tout confort avec climatiseur.

Comme vous m'avez l'air bien calé sur le sujet, selon vous pour passer 3/4 jours de plage debut Aout est-ce moins risqué niveau météo de se rendre à Phu quoc, Con Dao ou Mui ne ?? gros dilemne pour moi!
en faites si je me décide à me rendre sur l'une de ces iles je prendrai un billet d'avion début juillet (au cas ou il n'y a plus de place à HCMV (car après je file au Cambodge pour revenir au vietnam début Aout). En gros si il pleut beaucoup je prefere etre à Mui ne que sur une ile (économie de billet d'avion).

Je vous donne des éléments de réflexion plutôt que de jouer à la devinette concernant la météo... Plus vous vous éloignez du golfe de Siam, moins vous subissez l'influence de la mousson.
Donc, il pleuvra beaucoup moins à Con Dao qu'à Phu Quoc. Mui Ne par contre bénéficie de la protection de la partie méridionale de la chaine de montagne Truong Son, il pleut encore beaucoup moins, ce qui explique les déserts de sable qui existe à Mui Ne comme dans la baie de Van Phong au Nord de Nha Trang.
Ensuite, si vous devez choisir entre Mui Ne et Con Dao, c'est une question de gout. Con Dao possède de très belles plages et une forêt tropicale également très dense, alors que Mui Ne possède cette curiosité géologique du désert saharien. La mer de Mui Ne est plus agitée, et Mui Ne est plus bondée de touristes fortunés, qui vous donnent le cafard.
Bref, pour un séjour de vacances au soleil, du sable blanc et fin et de la mer chaude, c'est évidemment Con Dao.

J'ai payé 80 dollars AR par l'intermédiaire de SaigonTourist. Un coup de fil lointain au chef du département francophone de l'agence a suffi pour retenir mon billet, sans avoir à payer d'avance🙂

Vous pouvez ré server votre logement à ConDaoSeaTravel, un resort de bungalow au bord d'une plage de sable blanc. En vous faisant recommander par Abalone, vous bénéficier d'une réduction de 40%. Vous pouvez leur demander de vous amener sur des sites pour faire du snorkeling.
L'ile de Bay Canh est le lieu de ponte des tortues, mais à la date de votre voyage, ce n'est pas une période de ponte.

L'année dernière à pareille époque, j'ai plongé en compagnie avec un américain, j'ai aperçu quelquechose tout blanc de la taille d'un boeuf, l'américain était tout excité, pendant que moi, j'ai eu une frayeur et je me suis éloigné en toute vitesse. Je ne suis pas prêt à le confronter.

Il y a plusieurs hôtels à Con Dao. Le mieux placé est le ConDaoSeaTravel que je vous recommande. Vous pouvez réserver en venant de ma part et vous obtenez 30% de réduction.
L'hôtel peut vous organiser des sorties en mer pour vous rendre aux sites de snorkeling ou aux autres iles dont la fameuse Bay Canh.

Merci pour ta reponse rapide......Je vais retenter alors car je leur en ai deja envoyé un mais il m est revenu car adresse e mail invalide!!!une autre petite question j arrive le 25 oct a HCM et voudrait partir direct a con dao le 26....il vaut mieux que je reserve mon vol dés maintenant ou je peux attendre d etre a HCM et avoir un vol pr le lendemain?(en sachant que ns sommes 6 a partir!!).....je suis une habituée de l indonésie ou les vols et les hotels ne se reservent pas vraiment a l avance ms bp de gens me disent que le Vietnam c est différent et qu il vaut mieux reserver plusieurs jours a l avance....qu en penses tu??merci d avance

Les Viêtnamiens se déplacent beaucoup et parfois, ils sont en groupe très nombreux, car les entreprises leur paient parfois des séjours de relâchement.
Si par malchance, vous tombez dans la même date, alors vous risquez de ne pas avoir votre billet.

Je suis a l aeroport d ho chi min en direction de Hoi an (ou ns avons loué une petite maison pour quelques jours) et ns sommes juste de retour de Con Dao ou ns avons vraiment passé un super sejour....je voulais te remercier pour tes infos sur le con dao sea travel hotel et aussi pour les 30% de reduction qui ns ont ete faite sur les chambres grace a toi...le personnel et le lieu etaient vraiment charmants(juste dommage qu il ne parle pas un peu plus l anglais car malheureusement le vietnamien n est pas mon point fort!!)
Par contre les gens vraiment charmants et a ma grande surprise le lieu est encore bien préservé....bref un sejour inoubliable avec ts mes copains(on a meme fait une soirée karaoké et baby foot avec ts plein de locaux)

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We’re heading to Vietnam as a family on July 8th for a little over 3 weeks (north and center). We’ve only booked the first 3 nights in Hanoi, and nothing else after that. We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. What do the experts here think? And which website can we use to book the tickets? Thanks in advance for your tips!

After Angkor, I’ve booked a stay on Ko Chang island. Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!!

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
