J'ai eut un prix correct chez British Airways en world Traveller (Economy) pour BRU-LHR et LHR-LAX.
Passionné d'aéronautique, je voulais voler dans un vol commercial de l'A380. J'ai put approcher des FTV lors de sa conception mais il n'y avait pas encore tout le confort à bord :)
Air France était plus cher et de Bruxelles on devait prendre le thalys pour Charles de Gaule. Je préfère un petit vol en A320 😉
J'ai fait une pré-reservation sur les hotels car c'est déjà un peu tard pour s'y prendre mais du à des petits soucis de santé je n'était pas certain de pouvoir partir cette année.
J'ai eut la chance de pouvoir séjourner de nombreuses fois aux USA depuis mon adolescence (loisirs et professionnel) et certaines fois pour de séjours d'au moins trois mois.
Je discutais avec un ami américain sur le fait que j'avais fait plus de la moitié des étoiles du drapeau américain alors que de son coté il était sorti trois au quatre fois de son état d'origine.
Tout cela pour dire que je connais assez bien les USA et ses coutumes pour y circuler sans trop de soucis.
Cela sera mon troisième séjours en californie. Une fois seul, la deuxième avec mon épouse en 2001 et cette fois -ci avec ma fille en plus. Ca y est la famille au complet 😉
En 2001 , on a volé le 11 août sur l'appareil qui devrait s'être craché sur le pentagon😕 ..
En 2012, on a fait New-York jusqu'à Key West en voiture et on est remonté par la cote ouest de la floride ensuite direction Washington et retour new-york.
Pour la partie Arizona, Nevada, Utah cela sera une première pour ma femme et ma fille. En ce qui me concerne cela fait un temps certains (1989) donc les souvenirs sont un peu viellot 🤪
Je compte sur vous pour me raffraichir la mémoire sur ce qu'il ne faut pas manquer sur notre trajet et sur les aspects pratique (Endroit pour manger, ce qu'il faut prévoir pour se balader dans les parcs etc...)
J'ai basé mon circuit sur mes souvenirs en essayant de ne pas faire de trop grosse étape (pas encore complétement rétabli) et aussi que ma fille de 13 ans puisse suivre. On voulait aussi souffler coté plage avant de repartir.
On aurait pu se passer de la visite de LA mais comme ma fille ne l'a pas fait ... difficile de lui gommer cette étape.
Alors voyons un peu ce circuit:
Jour 1 / 16 juillet : Arrivée vers les 13H00 à Los Angeles ==> immigration , prendre la voiture et direction hotel. On ne prevoit rien on verra notre état à l'arrivée
Jour 2: Visite LA (les classiques.. Hollywood, beverly, université etc... soir Griffith Park)
Jour3 : Park Universal
Jour 4 : direction laughlin via barstow (Bagdad café)
Jour 5 : Direction Grand Canyon village via Old route 66
Jour 6 : Grand canyon - Helico , visite South Rim/ logement grand canyon village pou le coucher/lever de soleil
Jour 7 : sortie par l'est (arrêt point de vue ) direction Page. upper Antelope, horsehoe bend ...
Jour 8 : Direction Monument valley pour visite des points de vue et retour au soir à Page
Jour 9: Direction Bryce Canyon - visite park et logement sur place
Jour 10: Direction Las Vegas en passant par Zion National Park
Jour 11 :Visite Vegas et nuit sur place
Jour 12 : Visite Vegas et nuit sur place
Jour 13: Direction Lone Pine et point de vue Death Valley
Jour 14: Direction Monolake via mammoth lake et visite Bodie nuit lee vining ou mammoth lake
Jour 15: Direction Yosemite entrée via Tioga Road ensuite Big Oak Road et canyon village. lower yosemite fall (pas gros debit en été mais ..) ensuite curry village pour un petit tour de bus et ensuite direction Oakhurst pour la nuit .. Faudra peut-être alléger ..)
Jour 16: Direction SF via nappa valley (juste pour y passer on ne va pas faire toute les caves) j'aimerais arriver par le golden gate et s'arrêtter à muir Woods national monument et Golden conzelman Road pour le point de vue...
Jour 17: Visite SF . La dernière fois on n' a pas prévu assez de temps alors ...cela fera plaisir à Durandale2😉
Jour 18: Visite SF
Jour 19: Visite SF
Jour 20: Visite SF
Jour 21: direction Cambria via Big Sur et highway one... Arrêt cambria car j'aime ce patelin et pour ne pas faire une grande étape pour essayer de profiter de big sur.
Jour 22: Direction Pismo Beah et profiter de la plage :) j'ai decouvert ce coin lors de ma première visite et j'adore:)
Jour 23: Profiter de Pismo Beach
Jour 24: Direction Hermosa Beach (LA)
Jour 25: Profiter de la plage et peut-être visite sur LA
Jour 26: profiter de la plage et des environs
Jour 27: Bye bye USA... Avion à 15H35 et retour vers la belgique

Faire Monument Valley avant Page, et loger à Mexican Hat une nuit. Il doit rester des disponibilités dans les motels de Mexican Hat. En profiter pour faire Valley Of The Gods et aller à Goosenecks State Park.
@causat: tu as raison .. on verra dans quel état on serra .. On peut inverser sans soucis et on peut encore le faire à la fin du trajet si vraiment on n'est pas d'attaque
Je suis d'accord sur laughlin .. c'est juste pour être plus cool et le logement visé à GC n'était pas dispo
Pour Universal, je te faisais la remarque surtout si tu souhaitais prendre les billets en avance, notamment avec un "Front of line pass". Sinon, c'est clair que ça peut se gérer sur place 😉
@Caussat: je pourrais toujours acheter online sur place , il y a internet à l'hôtel et possibilité de faire des impressions.
Le front-line vaut-il vraiment la peine ?car à trois ca fait 180$ de plus même avec les 10% off.
@thibaud: Super info. Oui en regardant sur la carte GC-Mexican hat - Page est plus simple pour aller ensuite à Bryce. Depuis Mexican cela fait min 5h de route.
Y faudra partir tôt si on veut faire antelope avant 11H00 car il y a 2H30 de route.
Si on fait GC - Monument Valley - Mexican Hat il faut compter 3H30 de route ce qui laisse le temps de s'arrêter aux points de vue. On change d'heure aussi à mexican je pense.

Difficile de conseiller car beaucoup d'avis différents sur le forum. Nous avions appréciés, d'autres disent que c'est inutile si on s'organise bien. A refaire, je le referais.
Je suppose qu'après la visite de Monument Valley et la nuit à Mexican Hat, vous allez faire étape à Page.
Alors, afin d'être sûr d'arriver à temps à Antelope Canyon, allez-y après avoir dormi à Page. Même pour l'Upper, si vous n'avez pas réservé la visite, arrivez le plus tôt possible à la cahute près du parking, afin de ne pas être mis dans un groupe qui part l'après-midi.
Le sens logique serait :
- Grand Canyon rive sud > Monument Valley (nuit à Mexican Hat)
- éventuellement, retour à Monument Valley pour l'admirer sous une lumière différente > lac Powell (nuit à Page)
- visite Antelope Canyon > magnifique point de vue Horseshoe Bend (si pas vu la veille) > Bryce Canyon
Après le lever du soleil sur la rive de l'amphithéâtre de Bryce Canyon et la randonnée en descendant dans l'amphithéâtre, prenez la scenic 9 au sud de Zion NP. S'il y a de la place sur le parking juste avant le 2ème tunnel, vous pourriez faire la balade "Canyon overlook" qui vous permet d'accéder à un beau point de vue en 20 minutes de marche. Avant de rejoindre Las Vegas, allez dans Valley of Fire SP. Faites au moins la route panoramique, cela vaut le coup.
Le jour 13, vous n'avez pas prévu de dormir dans la Death Valley afin de profiter des points de vue en fin de journée ainsi qu'au lever du soleil ?
Pour la Yosemite Valley, si vous partez de Lee Vining, vous serez plus près de l'entrée Est. Les chutes d'eau qui avaient un bon débit quand j'y suis allée, en juillet, étaient Nevada et Vernal Falls, mais il faudrait avoir le temps de faire la randonnée.
Attention au péage quand vous passerez sur le Golden Gate Bridge en direction de San Francisco ! Regardez là http://goldengate.org/tolls/french.php Il est possible aussi de prendre un Ferry à Sausalito, c'est ce que j'ai fait.
haa je peux enfin répondre 🙁 comme je suis nouveau sur le forum je suis en période de probation et j'avais dépassé le nombre de message autorisé en 24H . Faut être patient 😉
@Thibaud: j'ai suivi ton conseil et modifié les réservations sur page et booké au Hat Rock Inn.
Donc Grand Canyon Village direction Mexican Hat et visite sur le trajet (monument valley etc...) et Nuit au HRI.
Jour suivant direction Page ... Je sais pas encore si on va faire upper ou lower antelope. On va essayer de le faire ce matin là sinon on le fera le lendemain matin. En fin apm on ferra la croisière Antelope canyon d'après Laure c'est la bonne heure pour la faire.
Si on doit faire antelope le jour ou on se dirige vers bryce on devrait être à bryce vers les 16H00. C'est pas un peu tard pour profiter de bryce?

Oui tu as raison pour lee vining mais j'ai un bon souvenir de mammoth lake et comme j'ai trouvé un bon prix avec petit dejeuner je n'ai pas pu résister :) A réfléchir car c'est vrai que cela me rajoute 2h30 qu'il vaut mieux passer à yosemite.

Pour le golden gate j'avais repéré le changement de système de péage. Comme on est sur place 4 jours je voudrais malgré tout refaire en voiture le golden gate (trop bon souvenir de la dernière fois si pas trop de brume) et le nouveau Bay bridge que je ne connais pas encore. Bon j'avoue j'aime l'architecture des ponts 😎
La dernière fois on est pas resté assez longtemps sur SF. Maintenant que l'on connait une partie on ne va pas perdre de temps pour la visite "classique" et on va explorer ce que l'on n'a pas su faire la dernière fois

Comme moi, Laure a fait la promenade en bateau "Antelope Canyon" d'1 h 30 sur le lac Powell en fin de journée. Mais, en retournant sur le site www.lakepowell.com > "play" > "boat tours" > "Antelope Canyon", je me suis aperçue que maintenant, la dernière promenade de la journée démarre à 16 h 15 et se termine à 17 h 45. Dans mon souvenir, elle démarrait plus tard, à 18 h 15, je crois. Nous étions sur le lac au moment du coucher du soleil.
Je pense que vous profiterez de Bryce Canyon surtout le lendemain matin.
Je n'ai pas de conseil pour un logement à Lee Vining parce que je faisais du camping sous tente dans ce secteur, j'étais près de Mono Lake.
Moi aussi, j'aime particulièrement le Golden Gate Bridge, mais dans le sens Sausalito > San Francisco, j'avais pris le Ferry pour traverser la baie. L'après-midi, il y a des chances que le brouillard soit dissipé.
Bon a savoir pour la croisière sur la lac powell. j'ai pas encore booké les extras 😉
Pour Lee Vining j'ai trouvé Murphey's Lodge . Certains membres y ont séjournés.
Par contre , j'ai un meilleur prix sur mammoth lake avec breakfast compris. Cela ne fait que 30 min vers Lee Vining.. a réfléchir.
J'avais pensé arriver par le nord et traverser par le golden bridge (dans le bon sens donc 😉) car notre longement est près du marina district.
Effectivement, s'il n'y a qu'une demi-heure de route entre Mammoth Lakes et Lee Vining, compte tenu du prix de l'hôtel que vous avez trouvé à Mammoth Lakes, cela peut être intéressant d'y dormir.
En traversant le Golden Gate Bridge du nord vers le sud, c'est justement dans ce sens là qu'il faut payer le péage. Suivez les instructions pour le paiement électronique.

On séjournera à SF du 30 juillet au 3 aôut. Pas le choix avec une femme enseignante et une ado au collège, on est toujours plein tarif et pas toujours à la meilleure saison 😕
Cela serra ma troisième fois dans cette magnifique ville (mis à part les SDF) . Je connais déjà les points touristiques classiques que je vais devoir refaire pour ma fille qui n'a jamais été. Au moins on ne perda pas de temps à chercher😉
J'aimerais par contre découvrir d'autres aspect de cette ville et de ses environs. J'ai encore du temps pour parcourir le forum avant de partir maintenant que le circuit est booké.

Soit 139miles/2h15 de roulage théorique... MAIS tu pars de l'Utah pour arriver en Arizona (où Antelope et Page sont à la même heure...) = donc tu gagnes 1h00 !!! c'est pas beau.
Merci de rappeler ce décalage horaire qui est favorable dans ce sens là 😉 c'est jouable pour ne pas rater les départs de 10H30. Peut-être réserver pour assurer.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

After years of hoping, waiting, planning, then changing, saving, and searching for the best possible route... we're FINALLY off this summer for a 5-week road trip in the West.
I had planned a trip to Colorado in 2021 but canceled due to COVID, so with time passing and my eldest’s high school graduation approaching fast, I figured it was now or never!
Anyway, the itinerary has been modified and extended to please everyone (I’m no longer the only one making decisions!!)

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.

The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
