On a loué une Ford Mustang cabrio pour les 15 jours chez Budget et je me demandé comment fonctionné le poste du Cab, surtout au niveau des mp3... par CD, le biais d'un balladeur ou autre... ? ....
J'espère que ceux qui l'ont déjà loué me donnerons leurs impressions à ce sujet et pourquoi pas, celui du confort du véhicule pour les longs trajets de l'ouest américain, traversée du désert, j'en passe et des meilleurs 😉

Je veux pas te casser le plaisir mais chez Budget tu as loué une voiture CLASSE Mustang Cabrio ... La subtile nuance c'est que si tu es sur d'avoir un cabrio, tu ne l'es pas d'avoir une Mustang ... tu peut trés bien avoir une chrysler Sebring (C'est comme ça pour toutes les bagnoles, tu ne reserve qu'un niveau, pas un modèle )
Les seuls qui SEMBLENT bloquer cette voiture précise SEMBLE être Hertz et sa gamme "Fun" ( j'emploi le conditionnel et encore une personne digne de foi m'a dit que malgré sa résa dans la gamme fun elle n'avait pas eu ce qu'elle voulait ... )

Pour le coffre, oui tu pourra voir à quoi ça ressemble mais je doute pour l'équipement, car amha le montage pour un concessionaire france ne sera pas le même que pour un concessionaire US ... Simple exemple les autoradio CD - K7 audio était courant en Thailande alors que je n'en ai jamais vu en France ...
Donc faut prévoir large, on est à peu près sur d'avoir des CD audio, et il suffit de prévoir le cordon pour eventuellement relier ton lecteur mp3 s'il y a la prise.
Pour le confort, j'ai lu des avis comme quoi la Sebring était plus confortable que la Mustang ...
Idem pour la Sebring... Caprice oblige, JE VEUX MA FORD MUSTANG CABRIO !
C'est le Style de la caisse qui m'intéresse avant tout, le reste tant mieux sinon tant pis...
A Marseille, je roule en Smart For2, tous les gens ont un avis bien tranché jusqu'à ce qu'ils montent dedans... et là, ils comprennent facilement que partir en Espagne, en Suisse, Hte-Savoie ne posent aucun problème (surtout avec le régulateur, la boite auto et les cuirs chauffants 😉). Comme quoi ! ....

La Sebring ( V6 et 300 Cv ! ) est nettement plus confortable que la Mustang, par contre la conduite de la Mustang est beaucoup plus fun ( ne t'amuse pas a accélérer en virage !!! ) au niveau du son et des autoradio, on est ( en France) en avance de plusieurs générations ! impossible de trouver aux US dans les voitures de loc des autoradios qui lisent du Mp3 ....ni de prise pour les Ipod's . Tu peut donc partir avec un stock de CD "audio" mais pas de CD Mp3.
Pour les distances je préfère la Sebring cabriolet par contre si tu passe par Vegas tu pourra louer à la journée pour +/- $ 200.00 une Viper ou même une Mustang GT ou même une Ferrari, moment de folie pas trop cher !
Dernier truc, gaffe aux radars ils ne font pas de quartier et sont souvent embarqué sur les highways.
Chez Hertz ils ont en dispo la Shelby (V8 500CV).
Suivant l'agence tu as plus ou moins le choix, a Miami on a même pu choisir la couleur de la mustang (la normale pas la Shelby).
Bonne perfs sans plus, attention le coffre est vraiment petit.

Comme l'a dit tigrou ou lolita à part si on reserve certaine classe de vehicule bien précise, ils peuvent pas te certifier d'avoir le type de vehicule voulu, mais mettent une annotation sur ta resa en stipulant bien ce que tu veux, ca aide trés trés souvent et si le jour J t'a pas de vehicule dispo tu pourra tjs revenir pour changer.
Bien sur que dans les voitures de loc qui sont toutes recentes tu pourra tjs lire des MP3 sur le lecteur de CD et/ou avoir un jack pour une source externe !
Je vous met au defi de trouver à vegas une viper ou ferrari pour 200$ la journée, à la rigueur ca sera plutot l'heure 😉

Avec le prix des péages demandé, c'est la moindre des choses ....😎 Le jour où on aura la même proportion de kms gratuits sur Interstate, je veux bien comparer !
Sinon l'astuce, nous nous avons fait comme ça, c'est l'émetteur FM que tu branche sur ton lecteur mp3, nous nous avions un TOMTOM 920 donc avec émetteur FM intégré, donc là on était tranquille.
Nous avions hésité à louer une cabrio, mais avec les bagages le coffre aurait été trop petit, et en plus à Vegas à 40° à l'ombre, donc en cabrio tu es pas à l'ombre tu cuit dans ta voiture et à Grand Canyon à 12° le matin tu caille, et aussi faire attention aux coups de soleil.
La proposition de Castor 1704, c'est à dire louer une bonne bagnole pour faire les kilomètres, style 300C par exemple, et reprendre le bonus de budget pour louer sur une journée une bagnole de rêve à Vegas : ici

Sur certaines catégories de vehicules chez hertz, tu réserve le modele exact de véhicule que ce soit en ligne ou au tél et tu l'a surtout si on parle de vehicule de reve 😉
il y a une prise mini jack dans le vide poche central sur quasiment toutes les ford ou Lincoln de chez hertz ! J'ai loué un mustang convertible à miami en décembre et elle l'avait !
C'est vrai que les shelby ont disparu du catalogue, elles auront deux ans en avril-mai pour les premieres qui ont été mises en circulation, y en a eu 500 en deux temps si je me trompe pas.
Par contre elles ont pas disparues du parc de loc meme si elles ne font plus partie d'une categorie propre 😉

moi non plus sur la sebring - je regrette de ne pas avoir loué la GT-H, j'avais pris un SUV pour la partie terre de notre voyage et une Corvette pour la partie mer. En décembre à Miami, impossible de louer une gt-h, j'ai fini avec une normale et là en Mai à LA impossible aussi ! c'est la vie .
Si ton modèle est équipé de l'auto-radio Shaker 500 et la majorité l'est, pas de souci, cela lit les MP3. La mienne, une GT l'a, et celle de mon collègue, un cabrio V6 l'a aussi. Et ça marche très bien. Au pire, dans la console centrale il y a un jack pour brancher un appareil auxiliaire.
Pour le coffre, tu mets facilement une grosse valise et un gros sac. Plus ça risque de coincer...
Se faire la route "1" en bord de mer entre L.A et S.F en corvette decapotée c'est vraiment grisant, monter dans la brume vers big sur ou l'arrivée frisquette vers le golden gate c'est inoubliable 😎
Bizzarement à partir de Mai de cette année et au moins juqu'en Aout, tous les vehicules "fun" ont deja été pris d'assaut, y a plus rien de sympa à la loc sur LAX ou burbank, vive la crise ...... 🤪

Sur le web, je ne sais pas comment on peut réserver un modèle précis, mais en passant par une agence de voyages dirigé par un type très serviable et démerde, il a toujours pu me réserver le modèle précis.
En plus de la réservation, il y ajoutait le souhait du client pour tel ou tel modèle. Et comme il connaissait quelqu'un chez Dollar, j'ai toujours eu la chance d'obtenir le véhicule souhaité. J'espère que ce sera toujours le cas en 2010. 😉

En juillet dernier j'avais loué une Mustang V8 chez Hertz à Montréal, avec virée de 2 semaines en Nouvelle Angleterre.
Mustang coupé, pas en cabriolet.
Superbe voiture mais équipement minimum: clim manuelle pas d'ordinateur de bord ou calculateur de conso, distance, etc... radio de base avec un CD, mais pas de prise MP3 ou Auxiliaire pas de mémoire sur le basulement des sièges AV, ceci veut dire qu'à chaque fois que l'on accédait aux valises posées sur la banquette AR, il fallait refire complètement le réglage du siège AV!
Coffre riquiqui, même en coupé.
En fin de compte, les seuls équipements étaient une boussole, un régulateur de vitesse, une clim manuelle, vitres et rétros électriques mais pas rabattables!
Boite auto 4 vitesses d'autre âge!
Par contre quel bruit, quelle accélération, et je peux vous dire qu'elle faisait son effet en ville, avec sa peinture noire nacrée et ses jantes de 19.
Consommation de 14l/100; mais c'était pas un problème car le litre était à l'époque à 1$, soit moins de 0, 70€...
Maintenant le litre est à 0, 60$, alors c'est encore moins un souci...
En bref, la Mustang n'est pas une voiture moderne, c'est un mythe, et on lui pardonne tout!

Je vois que tu ne veux pas comprendre que tu parle d'un modele qui n'a jamais été présent sur le parc Hertz alors que le sujet parle pourtant de la mustang, tu aurai simplement pu dire que tu t'etais trompé de voiture puisque apparemment tu ne connais pas la shelby GT-H dispo chez hertz (ou plus dispo aujourd'hui selon sasmalko), c'est pas grave je t'en veux pas pour autant 😏
Ben comme tu as du le voir, le coup de blues(jake) est passé et la miss a encore eu raison de moi, on repart cette année, ce coup ci en juin pour faire Moab et yellowstone et profiter au max de la famille.
Bonsoir, pour info nous avons fait toute la cote californienne l'an dernier et je n'ai eu aucun probleme pour avoir la voiture que je voulais J'ai reserve via ebookers sans soucis j'ai precisé le modele que je voulais mais comme le modele n'est pas forcement garanti, j'ai ensuite appeler budget (qui etait à ce moment là le loueur que ebookers m'avait selectionné), j'ai donc appele l'aeroport de SFrancisco qui m'a mis la voiture de cote et aucun probleme, ensuite nous l'avons rapportée à LA pour changer et prendre une lincoln (cause beaucoup d'achats et valise supplementaire donc plus de place dans la mustang qui a un petit coffre et la rendre a ete un jeu d'enfant.par contre l'attente à l'aéroport pour la prise de la voiture à l'arrivée est un peu longue. Un conseil, si vous avez un gps qui fait les states emportez le car à LA ce n'est pas un luxe avec tous les echangeurs et cela fait gagner du temps et sinon louez en un, vous ne le regretterez pas. Bonne soiree Sissi PS : attention au soleil californien, il est traitre et crame vite, ici dans le sud c'est de la rigolade à coté, n'oubliez pas produit solaire et casquette.

L'agrément n'a rien à voir et le V8 ca doit être vraiement terrible par rapport au V6.
La GT-H n'a plus l'air dispo à en lire les post plus haut mais j'aimerai au moins la version V8.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.
I’m currently putting together my day-by-day roadbook and having some trouble planning certain days, like in LA or Las Vegas. Choosing hikes isn’t easy either—it’s tough to decide!

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I'm shocked by the price of the Upper Antelope Canyon tour—$175 for less than an hour… You might say, "if you can’t afford it…" But the real question is whether it’s really worth it, because $350 for two makes me feel like I’m getting ripped off. I’ve read there are trails to access the trailheads for Cinder Cone (11 km) and Warner Valley. Are these easy trails for an SUV?
Are there any other must-see spots or things we shouldn’t miss?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!

We just finished 9 days in the American West and wanted to share our experience because we had an amazing time.
I know some of you might ask, why use an agency? Honestly, we didn’t really feel like doing all the driving and planning, especially since we didn’t know the area at all. And since our English isn’t great, having French-speaking guides was a big comfort.
We found Emmanuelle and Isabelle, and wow, they were fantastic. It was just the two of us with them, so it was a truly VIP, ultra-personalized experience. The service was really personalized. They adapted to our pace and preferences, and we could stop whenever we wanted to take photos. It’s the luxury of being in a small private group—you’re not just a number on a big bus.
In short, we really felt like we were traveling with friends rather than professional guides. Everything’s included in the price (hotel pickup, meals, park entries, etc.), so the value for money is fair.
We loved it so much that we’re already planning to come back next year to explore other areas with them. I think we’ve caught the American West bug—it’s all we can think about, and we can’t wait to return.
