Making the most of July 4th on the way to Oatman, Kingman, Seligman, Williams

We’re leaving LA on July 4th (early if needed) to head to the Grand Canyon and arrive the next day in the early afternoon to start sightseeing.

Since it’s a 10-hour drive, that leaves us half a day to explore. I don’t want to rush, so we won’t try to see everything.

Any tips on what to prioritize, especially if we want to enjoy July 4th? For example, there’s the solar-cooked egg contest in Oatman. Or any other must-see quirks along this route on July 4th?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

You won’t have many options... The route will be split in two, I’d say, up to Kingman.

Los Angeles - Route 66 via Elmer’s Bottle Ranch, Barstow - If you’ve got the energy, swing by Amboy for Roy’s Cafe - then Oatman and overnight in Kingman - about 5.5 to 6 hours of driving.

The next morning: Kingman - Hackberry General Store - Seligman - Williams and Tusayan. Around 3.5 hours of driving.
