J'habite présentement à Gatineau (secteur Hull) et je déménage à Montréal avec une amie en juillet 2010. J'y terminerai la rédaction de mon mémoire de maîtrise, puis j'espère être acceptée à l'INIS (situé près de la station berri-uqam). Mon amie commencera sa maîtrise à l'UdeM et doit prendre l'autobus à la station St-Michel pour se rendre au travail.
Comme je ne connais pas Montréal, il m'est difficile de savoir quel est le meilleur quartier pour nos besoins! Donc où pourrions-nous habiter selon les critères suivants: a) logement abordable (budget étudiant oblige!), mais quand même bien, b) quartier sécuritaire et c) d'où il est facile et rapide de se rendre, par le transport en commun, aux stations Berri-Uqam, UdeM et St-Michel?
Autres questions: Savez-vous quand il commence à y avoir des annonces de logements à louer pour juillet? J'ai vu sur Kijiji que les gens commencent déjà à mettre des annonces de recherche de logements! Est-ce que c'est aussi fou qu'on semble le dire, déménager à Montréal le 1er juillet? Quel prix doit-on s'attendre à payer pour un 5 et 1/2 (rédaction de thèse = besoin d'un bureau!)?

Bienvenue à Montréal (quoi que moi je cherche à quitté !)
Je ne suis pas sure si je peux t'aidé en matière de recherche par ton budget étudiant (je n'y suis plus depuis 15 ans). Cependant, les quartiers qui sont à évité ces temps son Côte des Neiges (beaucoup d'ethnies à en perdre son latin), Hochelaga-Maisonneuve (quoi que c'est un secteur en revitalisation urbaine et il y a de très bonnes rues) et Montréal-Nord (quartier chaud des gangs de rue - mais, il y a aussi de très bonnes rues).
Bref, ma réponse vises plutôt à te dirigé vers le site www.lespac.com qui est beaucoup plus conviviale d'utilisation que Kijiji. Tu peux y allé par budget et souvent il y a plusieurs photos, ce qui n'est pas toujours le cas avec Kijiji.
je suis aussi un universitaire et, pour votre situation, je vous suggère grandement de chercher dans les alentours de la station jean-talon. C'est présentement où je me situe et c'est tout simplement génial (coin bélanger et chateaubriand)
1) près des croisements de la ligne bleu et orange: max 10 mins pour être à Berri-UQAM et moins pour St-Michel
2) près des lignes d'autobus principales sur st-laurent, st-denis et papineau qui ont aussi des bus de nuits ! Très utile pour les bars la fin de semaine !
3) plusieurs grosses épiceries (Métro, IGA...)
4) LE MARCHÉ JEAN-TALON qui est incroyable surtout l'été
5) la rue St-Hubert et toutes ses boutiques/restaurants
6) la petite Italie juste à côté avec l'ambiance et TANT de restaurants...
7) un quartier assez jeune, beaucoup de familles, assez "francophone" et en pleine évolution avec la saturation du "Plateau"
Pour le moment idéal pour chercher...il est certain que vous pouvez commencer à chercher déjà, mais avant le mois de mars, vous risquez de manquer beaucoup de bons logements. Pourquoi ? Et bien les locataires ont jusqu'au 31 mars pour signaler à leur propriétaire s'ils renouvellent ou pas leur bail. Donc après le 31 mars, PLUIE de logements...
Vous pouvez chercher sur lespac, kijiji, craiglist, le site de logement de votre université... Mais aussi, je vous suggère aussi une simple marche dans les rues et appeler aux numéros affichés sur les appartements ! Meme si la plupart affiche sur internet, ce n'est pas le cas de tous !
Pour le prix...disons que je suis très chanceux et j'ai un GRAND 4 1/2 avec une immense chambre et une plus petite utilisé comme bureau pour le montant de 715$ / mois à ajouter 65$ d'électricité et 70$ pour internet/illico, et ce pour 2 personnes. Si vous cherchez un 5 1/2 avec 2 chambres séparées en plus d'un bureau, je vous dit, ça va être compliqué !! Les proprio ont la facheuse habitude d'annoncé des 4 1/2 avec seulement 1 chambre et des 5 1/2 avec 2 voire 1 !! Comment ? Et bien, quand une pièce est moindrement grande, et bien bang, ça devient une pièce double et ça compte pour "2" !!! Donc assurez du nombre de chambre et pas juste du "chiffre". Moi je vous prédit un loyer entre 700-1000$.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
