Hi lovely community, I need your help for the last part of our trip to Greece next June. We’ll be in Thessaloniki and need to drive to Athens (485 km) in the same day. We’d like to stop for lunch—where should we go?? Please, we need ideas and suggestions! Thanks everyone

Hi Mamirêveuse,

You could, for example, stop in Volos—it’s roughly halfway, and the city is by the sea, which could be nice.

Thanks so much for the suggestion. Volos does seem like a nice city.

Good evening, why go to Thessaloniki? There’s nothing to see in that city. It’s better to spend your travel time in Athens or the islands.

Hi there, I disagree—there’s actually quite a bit to see in Thessaloniki! The White Tower, the Arch of Galerius, the archaeological museum, the seaside walk along the gulf, the Church of Agios Dimitrios... Plus, the food is amazing!

but I never claimed otherwise 😛 But personally, for a first trip to Greece, I’d rather explore Corfu, Zakynthos, or Santorini, for example—or even Metsovo, even if it’s more touristy.

Mamirêveuse didn't say if it was her first trip to Greece or not. And Corfu, Zakynthos, and Santorini are still quite a detour from the Thessaloniki-Athens route!

You could also check out Meteora, Pelion, and Delphi, for example, on mainland Greece.

Hi there! This won’t be my first trip to Greece, and this time we’re visiting Athens, Meteora, Mount Olympus, Delphi, Kavala, and Thessaloniki—plus five different islands!

The Thessaloniki-Athens leg is the last stretch before heading back to Paris. 😉 Open to other suggestions! 😊

Definitely, there’s so much to see! Good thing we’ll be there for 5 full days.

Great choices!
