je suis à la recherche tous renseignements concernant l'île de la Dominique. Je voudrais m'y installer avec ma femme et les enfants. Y a t'il des problèmes de drogues? Y a t'il des écoles française? Quel est le budget pour y ouvrir un gîte? Si vous avez des contacts sur place qui peuvent m'apporter des réponses...

J'ai visité l'île de la Dominique lors d'une escale, pendant une croisière.
Je vous suggère fortement de faire vos recherches sur internet en anglais, car il y a beaucoup moins d'information en français si vous voulez du contenu hors touristique.
Sachez que la Dominique est une île anglophone et qu'on ne parle que cette langue, avec un léger mélange de créole. Je ne crois pas que vous trouverez des écoles françaises...
Plusieurs personnes, dont des Américains, ont créés des sites sur l'expatriation et la vie en Dominique. Voici quelques liens:
j ai fait avec mon epoux en 2006 le tour des caraibes a la voile nous avions loué le bateau et le skipper. nous nous sommes arretes en dominique et j avoue que c'est l une des iles que nous avons preferees, sauvage, elle parait encore vierge c'est extraordinaire. Dans cette ile vivent encore les derniers caraibéens mais malheureusement nous n avons pas pu les rencontrer.
en revanche nous avons été accueillit par un guide Pancho natif de cette ile tres sympa qui nous a fait decouvrir la dominique. il a nous a egalement exliqué que tres peu de touristes s'y rendait, apparemment on ne laisse pas rentrer tout le monde, il y a 6 ans un hotel l unique de l ile a fermé sachez que l on ny trouve aucun restaurant non plus je pense que cette ile est intressante pour la journée mais de là à vivre je l ai trouvé peu rassurante. la langue officielle est l anglais aucune ecole francaise presente.

J'ai passé mes vacances en Dominique l'année dernière (1semaine) et se fut un réel plaisir, c'est vraiment une ile merveilleuse authentique... dépaysement total.
J'ai logé au Sunset Bay club (ils ont un site internet) tenu par des Belges donc je pense qu'ils seront capable de vous renseigner (un couple très sympathique).

Le mieux serait d'y aller quelques temps pour découvrir par soi-même. Personne ne peut répondre objectivement à votre place, c'est tellement lié aux motivations individuelles.
Y a t'il des problèmes de drogues?Au total j'ai passé un mois à La Dominique et plus de 30 ans à Paris. J'ai rencontré bien plus de problèmes liés à la drogue à Paris qu'à La Dominique. Sur l'île certains fument régulièrement (ganja) bien que ce soit interdit, et si on veut s'approvisionner ça ne semble pas difficile, mais... idem dans bien des villes en Europe.
Y a t'il des écoles française?La langue nationale est l'anglais, vous pouvez inscrire les enfants dans une école mais à ma connaissance pas française. Le plus fiable est de se renseigner auprès de «l'Alliance Française» de Roseau : afrancaise@cwdom.dm
Quel est le budget pour y ouvrir un gîte?Vaste problème. Il faut déjà avoir une idée du lieu d'implantation. Le prix des terrains est fortement lié à la géographie. Un terrain avec vue sur la mer sera plus cher qu'un autre sans cette vue. Or l'île est très montagneuse, tout est très "pentu", peu de terres sont planes hormis la périphérie (donc avec vue sur la mer).
Les tarifs sont également liés aux équipement. L'eau, l'électricité et le téléphone sont surtout présents autour des villages. Les gens sont certes très accueillants, rien à dire sur ce plan là, mais ils ont leurs habitudes ce qui fait leur charme, et ne sont pas près de les abandonner. En clair trouver un terrain tout équipé reviens à se rapprocher d'un village, avec... "ambiance musicale" assurée tous les soirs... Est-ce le bon choix pour installer un gîte?
Sinon c'est plus cher, il faut se faire amener l'électricité et le téléphone (quand c'est possible) au prix fort. Pour l'eau ce n'est même pas envisageable partout, reste à pomper dans un ruisseau ou récupérer l'eau de pluie.
A suivre également le marché de l'immobilier, consulter les sites locaux spécialisés: pas très actif. Autrement dit il ne faut pas songer investir pour revendre rapidement.
Compter également avec les taxes. Pour un particulier un achat immobilier est limité à 1 acre, 3 acres pour un business. Au delà +15%. Petit problème on trouve peu de petits terrains à acheter et ils sont proportionnellement bien plus cher que les grands (8 à 15 acres non fractionnables). Dans tous les cas il faut passer par un avocat.
Enfin par curiosité, renseignez-vous également auprès des voyagistes pour un séjour à La Dominique. Quasiment rien. Le futur client d'un gîte doit se débrouiller pour acheter un vol sec, jongler avec une nuit d'hôtel à Pointe à Pître et récupérer le bateau le lendemain pour Roseau. Idem pour le retour. Au total selon la saison, ce futur client doit débourser rien qu'en transport plus cher qu'un séjour d'une semaine tout compris à la Guadeloupe ou à la Martinique.
L'île a un fort potentiel «nature», mais ce n'est pas un endroit où un touriste viendra par hasard.
Je suis dans votre cas et souhaite m'installer a la Dominique, avez vous realise votre reve ? Est ce difficile d'acheter un terrain et d'ouvrir un gite ? Merci pour votre aide.

Je suis francais , et il y a quelques temps j'y suis reste cinq mois pour mon travail ! il ne faut pas toujours croire ce qu'un simple touriste (d'un jour a une semaine !!!!!!) peuvent raconter au sujet de la vie la bas. Moi en toute objectivité et surtout avec un an de recul , je puis dire que c'est ancheteur comme endroit (les locaux sont moins hipocrite qu'en métropole ) . Si je puis aider quelqu'un de ce que je connais , n'hesitez pas

j'aurai aimé profiter de votre expérience sur cette ile qui m'a enchanté, il y a quelques années et où j'aimerai m'installer dans quelques années avec ma famile. Questions : est ce c'est facile de louer ou d'acheter un logement sur place? est- ce que les " étrangers " peuvent bien s'intégrer ?

bonsoir , en reponse a votre demande , pour ce qui est de l'achat du logement je ne sais pas etant donné que je n'etais pas concerné.Pour la location , il n'y à vraiment pas de probléme .Pour l'appartement que je louais en 2008 (1000 esd ;carraibien dollar tout compris , c'est a dire meublé avec eau et electricité )en prendre un avec si possible la clim car le ventilo n'est pas assez efficace , et il fait plus chaud a la dominique qu'en martinique à mon humble avis. Moi je l'ai eu grace au bouche à oreille , mais il y à des agences immobilliéres celle que j'avais essayé me parraissait tres sérieuse. Pour ce qui est de l'integration , c'est beaucoup plus facile qu'en martinique , pour résumer , je pourrais dire que les locaux sont simples, naturels .Pour le bouche a oreille pour d'eventuels logement allez voir roger et sa femme marcella de l'hotel sunset bay à collibistries et surtout la secretaire blanche dont j'ai oublié le prénom , il se souviendront de moi , je suis resté quatre mois à l'hotel.j'espére vous avoir ete utile , si vous avez besoin , n'hesitez pas .
