I'm planning a 10-day trip to Tenerife to go hiking in February. Is the weather decent without too much fog at this time of year? Is an excursion to Teide National Park doable? Thanks for your replies.

In all seasons, the island’s features include high humidity in Anaga and mid-slope clouds on Teide, while higher up (the caldera) the sky is clear.

I went there during this season and was able to reach the summit of Teide on a beautiful sunny day. But you can't control the weather, of course.

Hi Claire. Yes, of course. There are plenty of gorgeous hikes to do on the island. We used to go there every February for years, and we loved the climate. It’s been 6 years since we last went... but nostalgia’s a funny thing—we just booked for February 2025. If you’ve got any other questions.

Thanks for your replies! So, I’ve got a few more questions... I bought the Rother guide to plan our hikes. I’d like to head to Anaga and Teide National Park, and the Teno massif looks stunning too. We’re going for 10 days and will rent a car. I’m thinking of booking two Airbnb stays. Which small towns would you recommend? I’d prefer not to drive too much to get to the trailheads.

For Anaga, you’d want to rent a car near La Laguna.

For the Teno massif and Teide, head toward Santiago del Teide.

We went there a long time ago in January 1997. After a rainy day on the coast, we headed to Teide and found immaculate snow with a big blue sky. Magical! 2 low-quality photos: digitized slides

That's surprising! !😮

We want to hike up Teide on foot from the Montana Blanca trail parking lot and take the cable car back down. To get our car back at the parking lot, it’s a 40-minute walk (according to Google Maps). Does anyone know if there’s a bus? Or if you’ve done this hike, how did you get back to your car? Thanks!

I didn’t see any buses in Teide National Park except for the group tour buses. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t any... Here’s the public transport website:

I haven’t done the hike you’re planning.

Watch out—the parking lots fill up really fast.

It’s best to arrive before 9:00 AM.
