Vu que c'est mon tout 1er message sur ce forum riche en infos, j'en profite pour féliciter tous ceux qui y participent, une vrai mine d'or 😄
J'ai donc réservé il y a peu de temps 2 billets d'avion (mon amie et moi) pour la Thailande, du 7 au 21 novembre 2009.
J'ai passé pas mal de temps à chercher des infos sur le pays, les sites à visiter etc. Et je commence à vaguement tracer l'itinéraire.
J'aurai cependant besoin de pas mal de conseils 😉. Notamment par rapport à la météo (j'ai vu qu'en novembre, il pouvait pleuvoir dans la région de Koh Samui par exemple...), ou par rapport à vos coups de coeurs ou sur les lieux choisis, ou au contraire des avis négatifs. N'hésitez pas à me conseiller, ou déconseiller certains lieux.
Enfin, j'aimerai avoir l'avis de personnes connaissant bien la Thailande sur la "faisabilité" de cet itinéraire, en terme de temps. Je me suis assez renseigné, mais rien ne vaut le vécu 🙂
Voilà, je souhaite pour le moment me concentrer la dessus. Par la suite, une fois le tracé plus ou moins défini, je partirai à la chasse aux infos pour l'hébergement.
L'idée générale est de passer 4 ou 5 jours dans le nord + Bangkok, et ensuite le reste (9 ou 10 jours) plutôt au sud, au bord de l'eau.
Cela donnerait à peu près ça:
Jour 1 (tronqué), 2 et 3: Bangkok (+ Ayutthaya si le temps)
Jour 4 Kanchanaburi
Jour 5 Erawan Park
Jour 6 et 7 Koh Samui
Jour 8 et 9 Pukhet
Jour 10 11 et 12 Koh PhiPhi, et peut être Krabi (Ao Nang)
Jour 13 et 14 retour sur Bangkok + départ.
J'imagine déjà vos remarques 😎 Koh Samui, Phuket...les haut-lieux touristiques! C'est pourquoi nous ne sommes pas véritablement fixé sur l'itinéraire. Par exemple, pourquoi ne pas remplacer Samui par Phangan ou Tao si cela vaut le coup.
J'espère avoir été assez clair dans mes petites explications, et j'attends avec impatience tous vos commentaires, conseils et suggestions 😉

Zappez Samui, il y pleut beaucoup en général a cette période (vous verrez suffisament de belles plages en allant a Phuket, Phi Phi et Krabi) et ne zapper pas Ayutthaya qui en vaut la peine et qui n'est qu'a 45 mn de bangkok.
Pareil que Boumbastic , zappe Samui pour mieux profiter Phuket et ses environs et passer moins de temps dans les transports car 15 jours c'est vite passé . 😉

Donc, en modifiant un poil les 1ers jours (j'en rajoute un pour Ayutthaya), cela donne:
Jour 1, 2, 3, 4 Bangkok + Ayutthaya
Jour 5 Kanchanaburi
Jour 6 Erawan Park
si je me garde le dernier jour pour le retour sur Bangkok, il me reste 7 jours. Phuket et Koh PhiPhi doivent y être, le reste... je ne sais pas trop!
Qu'en pensez vous, 2 jours sur chaque?
Les 3 jours qui me restent autre part dans le coin? sans prendre de trop de temps dans les transports?
Krabi a l'air sympa, j'entends aussi régulièrement parler de Koh Lanta...
Ok c'est bien comme ça , mais en allant sur Koh Phi Phi tu peux aller jusqu'à Krabi ok , mais zappe Koh Lanta car là pareil beaucoup de transport et sache que Phuket il y a pas mal de choses à voir du Nord au Sud de l'île .

Pour les transports:
Le nord (Bangkok/Kanchanaburi/Ayatthuya) se fera en bus je pense.
Ensuite, c'est en avion pour Bangkok-->Phuket. Idem pour le retour à Bangkok.
Une fois à Phuket, ben...je pense bateau pour les iles, vélo et moto peut être.
Une fois la bas, il va falloir que je me fasse le programme sur 6/7 jours (Phuket, Phi Phi et autres iles éventuellement).
Pour l'ambiance, pas de soucis, je vis à 2 pas de l'Espagne (vive les fiestas!), et je ne suis pas contre un peu d'animation nocturne 😎 (mais entrecoupée par des moments plus calmes bien sur).
Oui moi aussi je suis pas loin de l'Espagne 1 heure de route . 😉
Regarde ces liens qui pourront te donner des idées , ICI pour une île à ne pas manquer dù à ses eaux si limpides , et ICI pour les plus belles plages de Phuket et les bons plans , puis si tu vas à Kamala une chouette station voir ICItu ne seras pas déçu de l'ambiance du Baan Maï dans un beau cadre botanique et excellente cuisine . 😉

Un peu plus haut, il y a Sukhothai une ancienne capitale royale, superbe si tu aimes les vieilles pierres et l'art...
Nous sommes allés à Ryleh, à Krabi, hormis les spots d'escalade si tu pratiques, c'est pas top niveau plage : les 2 anses sableuses sont très étroites, pas immenses, et en novembre 2007 c'était assez bondé. Sans compter les innombrables long tail boat qui laissent beaucoup de trace de gazoil sur l'eau et pas mal de trainées noires sur la plage du matin... comme coin paradisiaque pour se dorer la pilule, il doit y avoir mieux en Thaïlande.

J'ai passé 5 jours à Railay (=Ryleh ?? 😊), c'était paradisiaque.
Bien sûr, faut pas se baigner dans le chenal des longtail... Ceux-ci font un peu de bruit mais c'est pas la mort... Et le soir, là où la plage est la plus agréable, ils ne sont plus là et tu n'entend que le bruit des vagues et le soleil qui se couche derrière les falaises ! Fascinant
Superbe plage, eau transparente et falaises calcaires qui tombent dans l'eau... Du monde, oui, mais pas plus qu'ailleurs je pense, et la plage est bien assez grande. C'est pas la Tranche-sur-Mer 🤪
Et frachnement, je trouve les anses très larges. je parle bien sûr de Railay Ouest, Railay Est c'est pas praticable.

Comme le Boum dont 1 nuit sur Ayutaya dans laquelle vous vous rendrez en TRAIN (départ de la gare Hua Lumpong à Bkk) : 1h30 de trajet au contact direct avec la population ! Que du bonheur.
Pour 7 jours dans le Sud il serait bien d'arriver (par avion) à Phuket et de faire un sopt de 1 nuit sur Phi Phi pour arriver sur Ao Nang ou Railey Beach pour repartir de l'aéroport de Krabi. Je vous laisserai ce soir, icci meme une carte avec trajet qui vous aidera.

En ce qui concerne Ayuttaya, je pensais le faire dans la journée (départ le matin, retour en fin d'après midi à BKK), est-ce faisable?
Koh Raya...je l'avais repérée celle là aussi! C'est vrai que ça a l'air magnifique.
Pour l'instant, je pense faire Phuket / Ko Phi Phi / Ko Raya.
Mais il est vrai que la proposition de Philgbo (terminer par Railey beach pour partir de Krabi vers BKK) a l'air bonne coté organisation des transports.
Du coup, je doute 😐...Ca e semble difficile de faire 4 sites en 7 jours (pas envie de passer mon temps dans les transports). Il va donc falloir faire un choix!
Je te conseille vraiement 1 nuit à Ayutaya qui te permet d'être plus cool et de voir les ruines illuminées la nuit 😉... plutot que de cavaler toute la jourrnée sur plusieurs sites éloignés.
Pour les transports dans le sud, entre Phuket Phi Phi et Krabi, je te rassure, c'est le ferry et c'est plutot agréable ! En tout 2 x 1h30 : pas si long que ça.

C'est un peu speed, tu peux aussi aller a Raya juste une journée en excursion depuis Phuket vu que ca n'est pas très loin et que l'île est toute petite, c'est sympa aussi mais une nuit sur place serait le top.

Je commence à regarder les hôtels à Bangkok...et là ya le choix! Cependant, je vois régulièrement certains noms revenir, notamment:
- le Reno Hotel
- le New Siam Riverside
Ça ne m'a pas l'air mal...des avis sur ces 2? Concernant le quartier, je n'ai pas trop de préférences ou d'idées...2 jours de visites classiques (temples, Palais Royal, klongs, etc)
Pour en revenir aux iles du sud...j'ai un doute😄 Vous allez vous dire, il sait pas ce qu'il veut lui!
Je lorgne depuis un moment sur Ko Lipe... Je l'avais zappé de part son éloignement, par rapport aux autres. Mais je suis retombé sur un site avec photos, pouah que c'est beau!
L'itinéraire proposé plus haut me convient, mais je me demandais, au cas ou:
Koh Phi Phi est très réputé, mais n'est ce pas surtout Phi Phi Ley et sa fameuse Maya Beach?
Faisant déjà Phuket et Ko Raya dans le coin, ne serait il pas judicieux de faire uniquement une sortie à Phi Phi Ley une journée, et de remplacer les 2 jours prévus sur place par Ko Lipe?
Les plages me semblent plus naturelles, plus sauvages et moins fréquentées (pour le monde et l'animation, j'ai déjà Phuket!)
Oui j'ai déjà séjourner à cet hôtel c'est très bien et sympa , par contre il n'est pas face à la plage juste un peu en retrait , les eaux à Koh Raya sont extraordinaire très claire , comme Boumbastic dit une nuit suffit à Koh Raya car c'est très petit comme île , le soir et le matin de bonne heure un vrai régal de s'y baigner après que les touristes venu en bateau pour une journée soit parti . 😉
Par contre tu as un autre hôtel qui se trouve face à la plage , mais assez cher .

Perso je laisserai tomber Koh Lipe c'est beaucoup de transport car c'est loin de Phuket , une journée à ne pas manquer à Phuket c'est de faire la magnifique baie de Phang Nga avec la Jonque>>> voir ce lien <<<une journée qui te restera gravé dans ta mémoire , mais j'insiste uniquement avec la Jonque d'ailleurs voici leur dépliant pour mieux te situer .

Pour réserver la Jonque June Bahtra pas compliqué , tu vas dans n'importe quelle agence à Phuket et insiste bien ""la Jonque June Bahtra"" et indique le nom de ton hôtel et ils viendront te chercher à une heure précise très sérieux comme boîte .

Tu as raison Kamala très bien , Patong bof . Pas besoin de réserver à tes dates sur place tu trouveras aisément ce qui te convient le mieux , regarde ceci c'est un point de chute au Baan Chaba tenu par une thaïe très sympa et elle parle bien le français , si là ça te convient pas proche de chez elle tu as d'autres guest houses ou petit hôtel sympa .
Ps : Pas oublier d'aller au Baan Maï . 😉

ça fait 3 mois que je prospecte, sur plusieur comparateurs, toutes les possibilités.
je ne part que 15 jours avec les gosses, alors si je peux passer le moins de temps en transit ( surtout à londres) et au plus prés de chez moi, même + cher je prends.
autant le billet londre - bkk est peu cher, autant la connexion grève le budget.

I’ve found so many tips and reviews on this forum, so it’s my turn to contribute a little.
We spent just over two weeks with our family, with the following itinerary:
- Hanoi: 5 days
- Halong Bay: 3 days and 2 nights
- Tam Coc: 3 days
- Mai Chau: 2 days
- Sapa: 3 days
We got around by bike, scooter, Grab, and bus.
Our main accommodations were homestays and hotels in Hanoi.
We visited lots of museums, temples, and neighborhoods in Hanoi.
We did a 2-day, 1-night trek in Sapa with May, a Hmong local, without going through an agency.
A few small regrets: the weather was overcast, and we couldn’t make it to Fansipan, but nothing major 😅. We also couldn’t find transport to get from Sapa to Mu Cang Chai.
Other than that, this trip will stay in our memories for the kindness of the Vietnamese people, the connections we made, the food (street food, homestays...), the coffee 😋, the landscapes, and how easy it was to get around...
Our goal was to take our time and focus only on a small part of northern Vietnam.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. No app for this one—you just hop on bus #14 at the local terminal (pay cash on board). But where do I catch it, and where’s the stop??

From what I’ve heard, it’s the Sida Express company (great name, right? 😄).
Can’t book online, but apparently, you *have* to because there’s only one bus at 8 AM.
