allez, à moins de 2 semaines du depart, il est temps d'affiner les questions, voila donc une nième question que koh tao, bien que j'ai deja beaucoup fouiné.
Est-ce que quelqu'un connait ici le OK2 (ou OK II) Resort (ou bungalows) du cote de Thian Og Bay, un peu plus au sud des New Heaven Resorts qui eux sont souvent commentés ?
J'aimerais bien savoir si c'est bien ? Les accès aux plages qui ne me semblent pas à proximité (la mer oui, mais le sable moins).
Pour le new heaven, pas trop loin de la plage de Thian Og à pieds ? Possbilité d'aller a la Freedom beach aussi en combien de temps ?
Sinon, on cherche un logement qui puisse accueillir notre petite famille de 4, entre Thian Og Bay, Sai Daeng, Aw leuk et Tanote, bref, endroit pas tres fixé encore. Dur de trouver a la fois logement et plage qui conviennent en meme temps.
Y'a aussi freedom bay qui pourrait convenir eventuellement, à voir selon les logements.
Budget recherché plutot moyen à pas cher, genre moins de 2000 bht si possible, ou alors faut vraiment que ca vaille le coup.
Pour ce qui est de Tanote, pas trop "diving" comme ambiance, genre plage un peu trop festive le soir ?

j'ai été à koh tao en aout dernier, pour ce qui est de tonate bay, c'est loin d'etre animé le soir, c'est vraiment calme avec ambiance très familiale contrairement à chalok bay où ça bouge plus par exemple. J'avais logé dans la tanote bay au black tip resort dans un bungalow en hauteur avec vue imprenable pour 8€/nuit pour 2 personnes.
Meme si vous ne dormez pas au new heaven, le restaurant avec sa vue vaut vraiment le détour !

Chalok bay et sairee beach, de toute facon, c'est pas ce qu'on recherche, un peu trop dense question constructions/touristes.
Mais on n'a pas forcement no nplus envie d'etre dans un bungalow isolé de tout, coincé entre montagne et mer !

bonjour,
oui je connais ok2 au sud de l'ile de kho tao.j'y ai sejourné 6 j. vue à couper le souffle sur la baie en contrebas.et sur la minuscule ile des requins...resto en bois en haut accroché a la falaise. les bungalows en bas. seul defaut le bruit des vagues sur les enormes rochers !!! petite plage de cocotiers sable blanc a 200 m.en bas a gauche.c'est l'un des endrois le + joli que j'ai pu voir en thailande.

Par contre tu parles de bruit de vagues sur les rochers. Est ce que la plage à 200m a de grosses vagues ou bien est elle bien "baignable" ? car nous avons 2 petites filles qui nagent bien certes, mais j'ai envie de trouver une plage où la baignade est tranquille...

Avec ma copine, on était installé au View point resort. C'était tout simplement fantastique. À dix minutes de la plage, en montagne(vue imprenable sur la mer!) un petit resto en bas tout à fait agréable à 3 min... Et les bungalows sont sublimes...

Maintenant en effet tout est question de budget. Sur le site, les cottages sont a 1000-1200 BHT/nuit, j'ai du mal a y croire, meme si c'etait par personne.
Sur un autre site, ca demarre pas avant 4000 BHT, ce que je comprends mieux non ?

SUPERBE en effet, je serais sur Ko tao en mars et j'aimerais savoir si les prix des cottages sont bien ceux indiqués sur leur site (1 500 bahts Type V) ? Conformité par rapport aux photos du du site ? En tout cas de la bel ouvrage ! ca parait presque trop beau eu égard à la situation et à un autre concurrent comme le Charm Churee par exemple...

Tu comprends quand tu connais l'acces et la situation (sur une falaise) du resort.
Charm Charee c'est la classe largement au dessus avec plage quasi privee;
Salut, on a passé 5 nuits au Black Tip Dive Resort sur Tanote Bay: très sympa, tranquille et un super snorkeling juste au bord de la plage. C'est un peu isolé et la route pour y accéder est tellement horrible qu'on n'a pas envie d'aller voir ailleurs.
Si tu fais de la plongée, le logement est offert au Black Tip.

J'ai ecrit au View Point.
Les cottages avec fan sont bien a ce prix la environ.
Maintenant j'ai pas mal fouillé et lu des avis sur cet endroit, il y a des tres contents et des tres mecontents, mais difficile de savoir sans les connaitre.
En gros, assez isolé à pieds (15' de marche de la route, 20' de marche jusqu'a la plage Thian Og, et la toute petite plage proche en dessous semble non nettoyee et pas clean, verre...)
Le staff est la juste pour les chambres, pas toujours present donc.
Les chambres en petent moins que sur le site, disons que l'entretien semble pas top, chambres pas tres propres, certains n"ont pas eu d'eau chaude dans les cottages avec fan (c'est ptet cold water tout le temps apres tout je ne sais pas, pas demandé).
Bref, pour le prix, tres bien si on veut etre peinard, si on aime la marche, et si on ne se fait pas trop emballer par les photos style "luxe".
Maintenant, ca doit pas se comparer au Charm Churee, pas le meme budget (sauf pour les villas avec AC), pas le meme endroit du tout.

En terme clair STP : le View Point est il loin de tout (j'ai l'habitude de louer des motos partout) ? Ou est ce que le point de vue (sans jeu de mot) est top ? Et pour le Charm Charee est ce que leurs bungalows sont aussi bien concus et la vue équivalente au View Point ? Les sites "sur vendent" en effet les lieux (autre exemple : Ko Tao Resort)

Salut, entre le port et le Sairee Village, je te conseille le Tommy Dive Resort anciennement Tommy's resort.
Contrairement à ce que pourrait laisser penser son nom il n'accueille pas que des divers, loin de là...
J'y suis allé mi-juillet 2006 pour 15 jours et j'avais payé 800 bahts/nuit pour un bungalow avec TV, air conditionné, etc.
L'avantage c'est que tu es au calme et surtout si tu loues comme moi un des 2 bungalows en bord de mer, tu auras le plaisir de t'endormir au bruit des vagues.😉
De plus à proximité immédiate de ces 2 bungalows, tu as une petite crique pour toi tout seul. Personne à part les occupants de ces bungalows ne se donne la peine d'y aller. Du coup tu peux te réveiller le matin en faisant quelques brasses...😇
En fait, en réservant rien ne t'empêche de réserver les 2 bungalows en bord de mer pour ta famille.

mais ce tommy resort est trop "central", pas assez de nature et trop de béton à mon gout.
Pour le view port en moto, je ne sais pas trop jusqu'ou on peut aller en moto.
Il semble que les voitures te laisse à 15' de marche, apres ptet qu'il y a quand meme un chemin pour y aller en moto, ou du moins s'approcher.
Ah oui info lue aussi sur le view port, au 19 janvier (donc tres recent), il y avait un nouveau bungalow en construction. Du coup ceux qui y etaient avaient des travaux et des ouvriers la journee dans le site, pas cool pour le calme.
J'ai demandé au view point où en etait les travaux, a savoir si finit ou pas, et pas eu de reponse encore.
Je ne vais pas risquer le coup à reserver la-bas pour rien.
En mars, ca sera ptet finit, qui sait....

2 et 3 Mango Bay bungalow en hauteur ( très en haut ) et ce que j' avais sous les yeux ( en 2 ), lieu idéal pour snorker au petit matin avant que les divings schools ne débarquent.
4 et 5, 6, 8 et 9 Koh Nang Yuan ( un bijou avant 11h AM et 3h PM ) car malheureusement pour les charters de touristes les transats et parasols, comme par miracle poussent comme des champignons 😕 )
7 piques pas mon transat, j' ai gravé mon nom dessus.

Mon carnet de voyage est en cours de redaction, donc il completera.
On avait mise les OKII bungalows, mais l'acces plage est pas terrible et pas aménagé, donc avec enfants, on n'avait pas trop envie de faire des allers/Retours au bungalow pour le carnet de voyage oublié, ou la trousse, ou l'appareil photo......
Donc on a logé 3 jours au Coral View Resort, où là, c'est sur la plage. Coin assez paumé, 2 seuls resorts et restos. Le resto sur la plage est tres moyen. Celui du Coral en hauteur sur poufs ou tables est meilleur, sans etre excellent.
LE snorkelling depuis la plage est moyen, mais on y a vu un petit requin quand meme !
Sinon, c'est calme, et on a pris un kayak pour aller explorer jusqu'a Tanote Bay.
Du coup, on a demenage 3 nuits pour Tanote Bay. L'endroit est extra pour le snorkelling depuis la plage, avec ce gros rocher en face. Beaucoup plus de constructions, donc moins sauvage, mais pour le snorkelling et l'ombre plus consequente sur la plage, c'est a mon avis l'une des plages ideales avec enfants. D'ailleurs plage tres familiale. A maree basse, on est vite sur les coraux donc baignade moyenne, faut viser les bancs de sable sous l'eau, mais bon, on conseille, parce que suffit de mettre un masque et se faire plaisir, aller escalader le rocher d'en face, faire des plongeeons de 3 ou 4m, etc....
Pour un coin plus peinard, et une jolie plage cocotiers, bungalows simples en retraits bien integres, y'a Sai Nuan BEach 1. Encore une allure de Robinson je trouve. 2 sentiers permettent de rejoindre le port à pieds, donc interessant. JE conseillerais pour un coin calme non loin de l'activité. Pour le snorkelling, je sais pas, mais c'est la ou on etait il y a 13 ans, et a l'epoque c'etat tres bien, mais maintenant ?
Sinon on a fait le tour de l'ile, un peu decu par MAngo Bay. Certes sauvage, mais plage inexistante a maree haute il me semble, et j'ai pas ete seduit. Snorkelling moins bien que Tanote dans ce qu'on a vu. Et surtout, arret de plein de bateaux a mi journee, donc bof.
Nang Yuan, tres joli, mer verte, beaux rochers, mais bien sur comme il a ete dit, en pleine journee, autant bouquiner dans le bungalow, parce que c'est St Tropez et parasols a gogo. Dommage ! Mais matin et soir, ca doit etre tres sympa (je ne connais pas le prix des logements et du resto).
Laem Thian : berk. Un gros batiment sur ce bout de plage minuscule, bizarre !
Thian Og. C'est cette plage qu'on avait visé, pour les requins, l'ombre de certains arbres sur la plage (tres interessant avec enfants). Au final, la plage est squattee par un resort de lux, donc palmeraie derriere, tres joli. Les nouveaux bungalows en construction (aie le bruit) sont en tek ou equivalent, tres classe. Mais ceux qui avaient payé ont eu droit au bruit des travaux, comme dans pas mal endroit de l'ile d'ailleurs.
Sur le bout sud de la crique, apres les bungalows basiques et les plus classes sur la colline, y'a un immeuble (oui un vrai), tout neuf, bien blanc, bien betonné. Une horreur peu visible de la plage, mais bien visible depuis les OKII. Horrible cet immeuble !
Par contre, l'eau est tres verte emeraude, car beaucoup de sable, et snorkelling pas mal, sans rejoindre le site de Tanote. Beaucoup de sable donc baignade tres agreable sans coraux sous les pieds.
Chalok. Pas notre truc, trop de construction, encore des travaux, eau moyenne, trop dense. Bof.
J4ai ete voir le Cham Churee vers JAmson Bay. Tres joli. Pour claquer du fric, c'est la qu'on aurait ete. Plage petite mais mignone, bungalows (pas tous) a grandes terrasses dominant la mer. Mais bon, pour 10 fois plus cher que nos bungalows à 1200 B, non, ca vaut pas le coup, tant pis.
Pour nous 4, on avait des chambres triple, genre grand lit + single bed. C'etait en general entre 1000 et 1500B, avec fan. LEs bungalows Black Tip bien cachés dans la vegetation (hormis le centre de plongee kitch), etaient tres jolis a l'interieur, belle douche avec de la pierre partout.
Voila, si ca peut en aider qquns a choisir... Et si questions, n'hesitez pas !

Vraiment merci pour tout, sans oublier cette aide précieuse sur place à Tao, c' était super plaisant. Je suis resté jusqu' au bout à Tao ( plongée, snork...) et après 4 jours à Bangkok.

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).

- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...
