Hi,
I saw that the first tram from Pont du Garigliano leaves at 5:15 AM, and by taking the RER B at Cité Universitaire afterward, I’d arrive at Roissy at 6:30 AM—2 hours before my international flight.
Is this doable, or not? If anyone’s done this before, I’d love to hear about it.
Thanks
Re: Timing for Paris transport to Roissy for an 8:30 AM flight
Hey,
You also have the option of taking the RER C to St Michel and then the RER B. The first RER C leaves at 5:17 AM, with an expected arrival at Roissy at 6:16 AM.
Do you have any checked baggage? Generally (check with your airline), the check-in deadline is 1 hour before takeoff. So that only leaves you with an hour to spare.
If you don’t have any checked baggage, you’ll just need to arrive before the boarding deadline at the gate (usually 30 or 40 minutes before takeoff).
Anyway, in both cases, you’re taking a risk if there are any transport issues (especially on the RER B line), and the risk is higher if you have checked baggage!

I can’t speak to the RER and other options, since I never take them—or no longer do—but we don’t know the exact destination, or whether you’ll need to go through passport control. That’s crucial for calculating the timing.
Also, boarding usually closes around 20 minutes before departure, depending on the airline—not 40. The 40- or 30-minute mark is when boarding *starts*.
I won’t have any checked baggage, so if I check in online, can I go straight to the boarding gate?
For the RER, I’m thinking the first train of the day will be on time—it’s later in the day that things can get messy sometimes ;)

hi,
Yeah, if you don’t have any checked luggage, you can check in online and head straight to boarding without stopping at the "baggage drop-off" counter.
Is Brussels your final destination?
