Ces temps-ci, les posts concernant le désir de s'installer et vivre au Vietnam, se multiplient...Si, très sincèrement, je souhaite à tous ceux qui ont envie de s'expatrier, de trouver leur voie et de construire une vie heureuse au Vietnam, je voudrais souligner à votre attention et à celle de tous ceux qui ont le même projet que vous, que le Vietnam n'est pas l'Eldorado que l'on peut imaginer.
Comme tous les pays du monde, le Vietnam a souffert et souffre de la crise économique mondiale, le marché du travail n'y est pas florissant, et surtout la préférence nationale y est appliqué de manière de plus en plus drastique. Contrairement à d'autres pays qui encouragent l'immigration par manque de main d'oeuvre ou d'experts, le Vietnam se suffit largement à lui-même. Il est plutôt "exportateur de main d'oeuvre". Ceci, pour dire que trouver un travail salarié en contrat à durée indéterminée est extrêmement difficile, voire impossible au Vietnam. De toute façon, même avec un contrat de travail, votre visa n'est pas renouvelable ad vitam aeternam...Au mieux, vous disposez de 2 fois 3 ans, au pire de seulement 3 mois ! Certes, le fait pour votre futur époux, d'être "viet kieu", peut être utile pour obtenir une exemption de visa de 5 ans, mais pour le reste...sauf à ce qu'il ait encore de la famille sur place, qui accepte de l'aider.
La règle pour avoir le droit de vivre ici est de ne rien coûter à l'Etat, donc d'avoir suffisamment pour subvenir à ces besoins...Par conséquent, s'il vous est impossible de trouver un emploi, il reste la possibilité de créer une entreprise ( de loin la meilleure solution !). Mais pour celà, il faut envisager des fonds substantiels pour investir, et surtout trouver un créneau qui ne puisse pas être copié dans les mois à venir ! Vous ouvrez un commerce, et deux mois plus tard, le même, tenu par des autochtones vous fait concurrence, et vous rafle votre clientèle, car ici le nationalisme est très fort, et le réseau compte plus que tout ! Attention aussi à toutes les propositions qui peuvent vous être faites de toute part, pour participer au capital d'une société. Comme en toute chose , il faut savoir à qui l'on a à faire, et le mail n'y suffit pas 😉
Mon conseil : Avant de venir vous installer, venez en voyage d'exploration. Contactez les Chambres de Commerce, des avocats d'affaire, regardez, faites une pré-étude de marché, imprégnez vous de la culture, du mode de vie, rencontrez des gens, tâtez le terrain.... Identifiez les inconvénients et les avantages, calculez le risque que vous voulez prendre. Bref construisez l'architecture de votre projet, pour voir s'il est viable. L'amour pour le Vietnam peut cacher des déconvenues tragiques que je ne vous souhaite pas.
De toute façon, sincèrement bonne chance et bon courage pour votre projet qui, j'espère, verra le jour.

My name is Deborah, I’m French. I’m married and have two children. I’m a clinical psychologist specializing in psychotraumatology, and I’m also pursuing medical studies.
For some time now, I’ve been seriously considering moving to the United States. My long-term goal is to practice medicine in the U.S., with a particular interest in forensic pathology. I know the journey is demanding (USMLE, residency, fellowship, etc.), but I’m ready to commit to several years of hard work.

Our departure time is getting closer (we have less than 2 years left—it’s both a long time and so short!). To start preparing seriously, we’ll need quite a bit of info. If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
