J'imagine que ce sujet a été traité de nombreuses fois, mais j'expose quand-même la situation... !
En prévision d'un licenciement économique fin 2008, j'envisage une expérience professionnelle en Asie du Sud-Est, et plus particulièrement, en Malaisie, ou à Singapour, courant 2009 ; j'ai voyagé 3 fois en Thailande l'année dernière, ainsi qu'une fois en Indonésie cette année (3 semaines à chaque fois), et je souhaiterais vivre une expérience plus enrichissante que du simple tourisme.
27 ans, employé de commerce actuellement, décorateur d'intérieur et maitrisant l'anglais quasiment couramment (mais pas le malais), et prêt à travailler dans le tourisme si l'opportunité s'en présente, j'aimerais obtenir quelques infos, si vous en avez à me donner, quant aux éventuelles possibilités de trouver un employeur susceptible d'être intéressé par un tel profil (!)...😕.
Est-il possible pour un occidental de décrocher un emploi local décent sans avoir à passer par le cursus "expatrié" ?
Par ailleurs, ayant des amis en Malaisie qui peuvent m'héberger, je pense faire un voyage (3 mois maximum, visa touristique oblige) sur place pour mener les démarches en direct. Est-ce réaliste de compter trouver un emploi dans ce pays ?
Ne voulant pas partir sans la meilleure préparation possible, toutes vos remarques et vos expériences me seront bénéfiques...
Oui le sujet a en effet été traité à plusieurs reprises, je t'encourage à faire une recherche sur ce forum afin de te donner une idée.
Je t'encourage dans ta démarche, il faut effectivement une certaine motivation pour quitter son pays, sa famille ses amis ses habitudes etc...😉 Je suis moi même expatrié en Malaisie, je peux donc te donner certains conseils et mises en gardes.
Pour ceux qui cherchent à fuires les problèmes en quittant le pays, Attention, ils ont souvent tendance à vous rattraper, même à l'autre bout du monde...😕 Partir dans un esprit serein me paraît indispensable.
Travailler en Asie est effectivement une expérience forte enrichissante, la maitrise de l'anglais est effectivement indispensable, celle du malais pas vraiment. (dans un premier temps)
Si tu n'as pas un contact local, ou une multinationale qui te propose un contrat d'expat il te sera extrêmement difficile de décrocher un poste à salaire descent ici. Le marché est protégé par les locaux et surtout dans la branche touristique, principalement gérée par les chinois malais. Le salaire dépasse rarement 2000 RM par mois (400 Eu) dans ton domaine recherché.
Tu peux vivre simplement ici avec un tel salaire, mais sans +, attention aux extras et folies...lol 😉 Les locaux y sont bien contraints pourquoi pas toi ?
Pourquoi n'envisage tu pas le statut d'expat qui à mon avis est la meilleure solution dans ton cas si tu veux espérer décrocher un poste descent.
Effectivement, je ne peux que te conseiller de bien te préparer avant ton départ, ce n'est pas une expérience à prendre à la légère, et ça t'évitera bien des surprises à ton arrivée.
Ici c'est pas la France avec ces 40h de travail hebdomadaire...lol ..😛
Comme tu le sais la Malaisie est majoritairement Musulmane, ici c'est pas un problème, je n'ai jamais ressentis de haine raciale comme en Europe, le mixte des cultures chinoises et indiennes aidant.
Et un mois de jeune ça fait que du bien pour perdre ces sacrés kilos en trop....😏 Je rigole... Salamat Hari Raya.
Ta solution de voyage touristique est un bon plan pour te rendre compte de la situation et prendre des contacts sur place.Et n'hésite pas à faire appel à tes amis locaux, qui te seront de bons conseils.
Je te souhaite donc bon courage dans ta démarche, ne perds pas espoir dans les tracasseries administratives, tu ne le regretteras pas, moi je ne ferais pour rien au monde marche arrière.Et pourtant j'adore mon pays, (a ces sacrée montagnes suisses pas facile de les oublier...)
Si tu sais en tirer les avantages, tu seras conquis par une telle expérience.
PS: Il te faudra également une bonne dose de patience dans les démarches administratives, spécialement avec les services de l'immigration. La corruption n'est ici pas celle du niveau des Philippines mais bien présente. Mais je n'aborderai pas ce sujet sensible ici.

En effet, la question qui se pose pour moi, est que je ne suis pas dans la situation d'un potentiel expatrié, puisque, suite à mon licenciement en fin d'année 2008, je partirais en Malaisie sans être employé pour une entreprise française susceptible de me proposer une expatriation. Qui plus est, mon parcours professionnel quelque peu atypique (employé de commerce dans un cinéma, formation en décoration intérieure) ne m'offre pas autant de possibilités qu'un cursus dans la finance ou le commerce international par exemple. En gros, je partirais donc pour la Malaisie sans rien, et il me faudrait ainsi postuler sur place, durant un séjour de tourisme durant lequle un contact malaisien m'hébergerait, or j'ai cru voir qu'il est interdit de chercher du travail lorsque l'on est détenteur d'un visa tourisme... info confirmée ou intox ?
Par ailleurs, je profite du fait que tu connaisses bien ce pays 😉pour te demander si, au regard de mes domaines de compétence, certains secteurs professionnels seraient suceptibles de m'embaucher, ne serait-ce qu'en contrat local. Connais-tu par exemple des entreprises françaises (grandes enseignes ?...) implantées dans ce pays ? L'Alliance Française de Kuala Lumpur peut-elle m'accompagner dans ce genre de démarches ?
Enfin, démarrer une activité en freelance te semble être une bonne alternative si aucun poste salarié ne m'est accessible ?
Beaucoup de questions donc, mais peut-être pourras-tu me donner quelques éléments de réponses...
Il est vrai que je suis très très motivé pour cette expérience...Non pas pour fuir d'éventuels problèmes liés à la vie en France, mais réellement pour découvrir une culture et un mode de vie très enrichissants.

Effectivement avec ton parcours pas facile de trouver qqch ici, il y a effectivement des entreprises françaises qui emploient des expats mais ce sont des postes à haute valeur ajouté. (Je travaille d'ailleurs avec un ingénieur français fort sympa...) 🙂 Ta solution de voir su place n'est pas mauvaise étant donné que tu n'as pas vraiment d'autres choix.
L'immigration est effectivement très sévère comme chez vous en France et bcp d'autres pays, donc pas de surprises de ce côté là, Le problème avec un visa touristique personne te donneras l'opportunité de travailler, et au black oublie tu vas trop galérer.

Pas facile de répondre à ta demande, car pour certaines choses les prix peuvent facilement varier du simple au triple. Le niveau de vie n'est évidement pas le même dans tous le pays, KL et Ipoh c'est comme comparer Paris et Sochaux...😉 Sur les îles les prix grimpent aussi, tourisme oblige...

Si j'avais bien compris, cette déclaration veut dire que un touriste ne peut pas exercer une activité professionnelle, mais une fois régularisé (démarches de demande un permit de travail), je pense qu'il n'y aura pas de pb. A vérifier quand meme.

If anyone knows the rates charged by movers for a crate to French Polynesia, or what pitfalls to avoid (I know you can get quotes directly from movers, but I’d love insights from actual customers😉).
