Je cherche désespérément une réponse à un problème de visa, pourriez-vous m'éclairer?! Voila le topo: je viens d'aller à l'ambassade de Tanzanie à Bruxelles (je suis belge) qui dans un premier temps, m'a refusé ma demande de visa: j'atterris le 27 décembre à Dar Es Salaam, et je passe 2 mois à travers la Tanzanie, Malawi, Zambie, Zimbabwe. Mes périodes de transits vont être assez aléatoires, et je compte acquérir les visas dont j'ai besoin pour les autres pays, au fur et à mesur de mon parcours dans les ambassades locales. Mon avion de retour est en Zambie à hahare (et non à Dar) ce qui pour la femme de l'ambassade n'était pas une preuve suffisante pour prouver que je quittais la tanzanie. Elle n'a pas non plus apprécié le fait que je n'avais pas a l'avance mon visa pour le Malawi, ni le fait que ma date de départ de tanzanie vers malawi n'était pas précise. (bien réservation de retour en avion prouve que je ne reste que 60 jours en tout et pour tout en Afrique, moins que le max autorisé de la plupart des visas de tourisme). Elle m'a dit que je devais repasser plus tard avec plus de précisions concernant mon voyage (très flou tout ça!), que je pouvais aussi acquérir le visa a l'aéroport de Dar.. Que me conseilleriez-vous? Cette femme m'a paru assez sévère, j'entends par la que sa réaction m'a semblé fort démesurée et injustifiée, bref pas du tout objective. J'hésite donc entre retourner à l'ambassade avec plus de preuves: booking hotel au Malawi / adresse précise de l'ambassade du Malawi à Dar pour prouver que je vais aller chercher mon visa Malawi là bas / précision concernant ma durée de séjour en Tanzanie etc. Ou alors faire mon visa direct à l'aéroport de Dar Es Salaam. J'ai cru comprendre que c'était facile d'en obtenir un sur place, ceci dit j'ai peur d'être confronté aux même questions à savoir "nous n'avons pas de preuve suffisante que vous quittez la Tanzanie". Dans ce cas, je serai bien bloqué et emmerdé! Qu'en pensez-vous? Voila un grand mail et beaucoup d'inquiétude sans doute pour pas grand chose mais je préfère être sûr.. Je ne suis pas de nature stressé et partir à l'aventure ne me fait pas peur, mais bon n'ayant pas beaucoup d'expérience avec les visas, je suis un peu dans le flou, et pour le coup ça, ça me stresse!
Nous sommes belges aussi donc les procédures sont les mêmes. Nous avons commencé notre tour du monde en janvier 2014 par 2 mois et demi au Kenya et en Tanzanie. Nous avons fait les visas sur place à chaque fois, sans aucun problème (à l'aéroport au Kenya et à la frontière Kenya-Tanzanie pour la Tanzanie). Nous n'avions qu'un billet partant du Kenya 2 mois et demi plus tard (donc pas différent de ton billet qui quitte le Malawi). Personne ne nous a rien demandé. En fait, c'était très rapide, ils n'ont même pas regardé les papiers, juste demander le prix du visa. Assure-toi d'avoir suffisamment de dollars. C'était la première fois que nous faisions un visa et nous pensions innocemment pouvoir le payer en monnaie locale. Mais seuls les dollars sont acceptés et le distributeur de l'aéroport ne fonctionnait pas. Heureusement que de bonnes âmes nous ont échangés, voire donner des dollars. A priori, des euros devraient fonctionner aussi mais les dollars sont plus sûrs.
Bon voyage en tout cas, c'est une région magnifique. Tu as une idée de ton itinéraire en Tanzanie ?

En fait, avec ma copine (qui est pour l'instant en Uganda), on va faire en deux mois la Tanzanie (ou a mon avis on restera la plupart du temps), le Malawi, Zambie et Zimbabwe. Nous passerons une semaine à Zanzibar, et ensuite de 2 à 4 semaines de plus en Tanzanie de manière beaucoup plus freestyle > nous allons faire du volontariat et notre planning sera très flexible: nous allons contacter des associations qui se trouvent sur Morogoro ou Iringa, ou Mbeya, trajet logique vers le Malawi. Mais nous avons repérés aussi d'autres assoc's cool au nord près du lac Victoria. Ce n'est pas sur notre parcours prévus, mais nous ferons volontiers des détours si ça vaut le coup, puisque nous avons du temps. Parmis les endroits cités, vous en auriez un à me conseiller en particulier?
Malheureusement, je ne peux rien te conseiller dans ce que tu me donnes. On est surtout resté au Nord, à Lushoto, notamment qui est superbe. On a aussi adoré Tanga et Pangani sur la côte.
Pour le volontariat, tu as déjà des contacts ? Dans quels types d'associations ? Soyez prudent car il y a beaucoup de projets qui demandent aux volontaires de payer. Près de Dar Es Salaam, nous étions allés au Kigamboni Community Center pour notre projet pédagogique. C'est une très chouette assoc' (ils ont une page facebook, j'avais un numéro de téléphone mais notre tel est mort depuis donc je ne peux pas te le donner. Mais je peux me renseigner si ça t'intéresse). Le couchsurfing est assez facile en Afrique de l'Est (lorsqu'on s'y prend à l'avance parce que la connexion internet, c'est galère). Même chose que pour le volontariat, soyez prudent car le site est parfois utilisé à but lucratif. Sinon, c'est aussi une bonne sources d'info pour trouver des assocs justement.
Je comprends tout à fait la position de la bonne femme à l'ambassade.
Tout d'abord, il faut que vous sachiez qu'un visa touristique est différent d'un visa qui vous permettra de faire du bénévolat... que souhaitez vous faire au juste?
Hahare (=> ou plutôt Harare) est au Zimbabwe, pas en Zambie!

Merci pour vos infos précieuses. Le bénévolat n'est pas sur du tout je n'en ai même pas parlé à l'ambassade. C'est donc un visa touristique simple que je recherche. Après quelques recherches et témoignage d'internautes, il me semble que je m'inquiète pour rien et que l'obtention du visa à l'aéroport de Dar Es Salaam est très facile et rapide, même dans un mon cas un peu particulier, à savoir "vol de retour via un autre pays".

J'ai fait la Tanzanie, le Malawi, la Zambie puis retour au Tanzanie avec le fameux Tazara Train pour finalement repartir du Keynia.
Comme j'étais avec mon copain aux Pays-Bas avant, nous avons appliqué pour notre visa Tanzanien depuis l'Europe, en envoyant nos passeports, l'argent comptant (environ 140$ pour une double entrée) et la demande de visa par la poste en courrier recommandé. Résultat: 3 jrs plus tard, visa double entrée valable 6 mois pour la Tanzanie. Vraiment simple!
Sinon, la frontière entre la Tanzanie et le Malawi a été une des plus facile dans ma vie! Aucun visa... Pour ce qui est de la Zambie (50$) et du Kenya (20$ transit, 50$ entrée simple), tu peux payer sans problème à la frontière.
Tu pourrais peut-être t'essayer par la poste....

Génial ton périple! Il semblerait que c'est plus ou moins le même trajet que le mien... Me conseilles-tu le train, c'était cool? Ils doivent être surchargés de monde et lents, mais a priori ça ne me dérange pas, ça fait partie de l'aventure! Premièrement, je crois avoir lu que tu partais pour 2 mois. Garde en tête que c'est l'Afrique et que tout est long!!! J'ai adoré les pays que tu avons visités, mais j'étais vraiment tannée des longues distances en autobus. Et, les vols internes en Afrique sont vraiment dispendieux. Bref, le Tazara train est une expérience inoubliable. 72 hrs de train! 😕 Le train part de la Zambie (Kapiri Mposhi) vers la Tanzanie (Dar es Salam) à tous les vendredis et peut prendre de 3 à 5 jours (personne ne peut te dire exactement la durée). Le train s'arrête TOUT LE TEMPS! Mais c'est fantastique 😉 Tu peux réserver ton billet à l'office (Tazara train) à Lusaka. Nous avions réservé les 4 lits d'une cabine première classe (4 personnes) car nous ne voulions pas d'étrangers avec nous (sécurité). C'est le moyen parfait pour voir les paysages.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

Paper documents might not be accepted.

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.

On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
