Ma femme et moi souhaitons partir sans enfants pendant une dizaine de jours, vols compris, pour se reposer sur les plages sud Thailande pendant qu'il fait froid en France.
C'est la première fois que nous ferons ce type de voyage, après de nombreux voyages en sac a dos notamment en Amérique Latine, mais les jeunes parents ont envie de se reposer pour une fois.
L'idée est de faire un mix repos, sport, plage, snorkelling/plongée dans les iles paradisiaques, dans des hôtels/resorts ou bungalows de qualité correcte.
J'ai bien lu sur le forum que Patong était plutôt à éviter, j'ai glané pas mal d'infos à droite à gauche et j'ai 2 questions avant d'aller plus loin.
Nous avions idée d'un budget d'environ 100€ par nuit, qu'a-t'on vraiment comme standing pour ce prix ?
Par ailleurs, vaut-il mieux prendre une offre vol + hôtel pour les 10 jours et se balader chaque jour à différents endroits, ou prendre 3 hôtels différents pendant 3 jours ?
Je pencherai plus pour bouger tous les 3 jours, entre Ao Nang et Lanta par exemple, mais si ça se trouve on peut très bien se baser au milieu et faire des allers retours en une journée.
Enfin j'ai conscience de m'y prendre tard, les billets d'avion sont chers et les sites de booking me disent tous qu'ils reste 2 à 5 chambres de libre par hotel !!

Donc pour continuer mon monolgue, j'avais dans l'idée de me baser à Ko Phi Phi et d'essaimer à droite à gauche, mais le choix d'un hôtel sur place semble... compliqué.
En regardant un peu ailleurs, j'ai vu des hôtels moins chers et ou les avis étaient plus homogènes, sur des îles comme Koh Pu/Koh Jum ou sur Krabi, voir même sur Lanta.
Question bête, mais si on est sur Kho Pu par exemple, et qu'un soir on veut sortir, restau + soirée à Tonsai par exemple, c'est possible de trouver des taxi boat tard pour rentrer à l'hôtel ?

Je suis partie 17 jours en juillet l'été dernier, ça a été fabuleux :
- pollution ? oui un peu à Bangkok, mais bon, ça fait partie du dépaysement et c'est respirable quand même ! Sur Ko Phangan on a été surpris de la propreté (pas de déchets comme sur nos plages françaises, etc...)
- tourisme de masse ? on a eu plusieurs plages paradisiaques pour nous tout seuls, on ne s'est jamais marché sur les pieds sur Ko Phangan (bon Bangkok, il y a du monde, mais beaucoup d'endroits sans trop ou pas du tout de touristes, et en dehors on a parfois été les seuls non thai ! avec de vraies rencontres enrichissante d'une culture très éloignée de la nôtre
- arnaque et autres : une seule arnaque en 17 jours (4 euros sur un taxi) et une tentative devant le grand palais pour nous proposer une ballade en tuk tuk mais tu réponds non merci en passant ton chemin et tout se passe bien !
Combien de souvenirs, de découvertes, etc... Je n'ai rien regretté, sauf de devoir rentrer ! N'hésitez pas (n'allez juste peut-être pas dans la destination la plus touristique de Thailande si vous ne voulez pas rencontrez trop d'occidentaux !)

Sur les bons conseils justement d'un membre en privé, j'ai pu réserver un hotel à Koh Jum, le dernier bungalow de libre, pour les 5 derniers jours, qui seront donc sur une ile relativement épargnée par le tourisme de masse.
J'ai donc 3/4 jours à occuper encore, sachant que j'atterris à Krabi, nous envisageons éventuellement de remonter un peu dans les terres pour faire un parc national avec visite de temples, balades en éléphants, etc. Je pense pour l'instant au Parc de Khao Sok pour 2/3 jours ou plus simplement une excursion sur la journée au temple du Tigre.
Voilà donc l'optimisme est de rigueur et le reste viendra avec.
je reviens de 21 jours dans le sud de la taillande avec 2 enfants en bas ages, mais malgré les étapes suivantes : phuket, kao sok, ao nang, phiphi, et lanta je n'ai pas vu le temps passer.
d'abord comme une personne te la déjà dit 8 jours me paraissent un peu court pour faire tout le sud il faut compter une demie journée pour les transit🙁🙁
aprés tu parles de polution ( atmosphérique, ou trop de monde), si c'est la seconde c'est un peu normal qu'il y est trop de monde c'est une trés belle destination😊
si tu parles toujours de la seconde pollution évite alors ko phi phi dans ton programme car cette ile est vraiment spéciale surtout tonsai qui ressemble à IBIZA 😐😐

Effectivement 10 JOURS en Thailande c'est bcp trop court ! , .....vous ne verrez pas grand chose , voire même rien du tout , ....à part la fatigue s'accumuler et le grand désarroi d'etre obligé (déjà) de repartir alors que vous venez à peine d'arriver et de poser vos bagages !.
Il faut 2 / 3jours déjà (même à ceux qui ont l'habitude de la destination !) pour s'habituer au décalage H déjà en arivent fraîchement + 2J de voyage , il ne vous reste que 5j ou maxi 6J de plage !....🤪
A moins de pouvoir changer vos billets de retour (moyen en 100€ , ....voire 50€ , ou même gratos suivent votre billet et votre Co !?)et de pouvoir rester quelques jours de plus (une semaine de + recommandé !)pour profiter un peu du pays

si j'étais vous je réfléchirai à deux fois , ...ou j'envisagerai déjà de prolonger !?
Pour les taxi boat = 0 trajets depuis et vers Ko Phi Phi des la tombé de la nuit !, ....sinon un arrangement très spécial reste possible (moyen en pas mal € os ou THB ) avec un long thais( joli boat du coin )et son proprio thais surtout , lequel vous attendra où que vous soyez (même en plaine nuit )!, ....mais prévoyez un budget conséquent pour cela !...la bas bcp de choses sont certes possibles mais sachez que absolument rien n'est gratos !.(comme un peu par ici d'ailleurs )

Première partie:
Nous allons passer nos 5 premiers jours/4 nuits à Ao Nang (au Tipa Resort Hotel), avec pour objectif de visiter Railei et profiter des plages locales, faire l'excursion des iles incluant l'Emerald park, monter au temple du Tigre...
- savez vous si on peut faire un peu de shopping (vétements, art local) sur place ?
- nous souhaitons profiter de nos soirées pour sortir un peu, compte tenu de la suite de notre voyage, restaus, soirées sur la plage, avez-vous des conseils particuliers ?
- est-il possible et intéressant d'aller à Khao Sok sur une journée sans dormir sur place ? ou sinon y-at'il des options plus près qui nous permettent de faire une excursion dans la nature avec balade en éléphant ?
Deuxième partie:
Nous passons les 5 jours/ 5 nuits suivantes au Koh Jum Lodge sur Koh Jum / Koh Pu
l'idée est bien sûr de farnienter et se reposer, mais cela dit:
- pensez vous que depuis Koh Jum nous pouvons faire des excursions à la demie journée qui soient intéressantes, et si oui vait-il mieux se fier au lodge ou prévoir ça à l'avance depuis Krabi (notamment pour peut-être trouver un long tail privé qui comme l'indique ymleo pourrait être à notre disposition y compris la nuit tombée) ? l'idée étant par exemple de pouvoir aller à Phiphi un après-midi et de rentrer en milieu ou fin de soirée au lodge...
- j'ai lus a droite à gauche qu'il y avait un bon club de plongée à côté du lodge mais n'ai pas trouvé grand-chose de concrêt, avez vous des infos la-dessus ? Je souhaite passer mon paddy sur place, ce qui devrait bien occuper notre séjour au lodge.

cela n'a aucun intéret déjà tout dépens le moyen de transport que tu utilises et d'ou tu te trouves de phuket déjà pour t y rendre il te faudra entre 3h et 5h.....
ensuite sur place c'est pour te déconecter de la métropole la foret des animaux trop kool il faut prendre le temps et en plus il y à pas mal de chose à faire ballade à dos d'éléphant visite de la foret voire camps de survie, ballade en boué sur la rivière................ moi j'ai dormi dans les maisons dans les arbres trop bien our jungle house sympa j'ai aprécié, mais si tu préfere quelqu'un de francophone il y a aussi mathilde beaucoup de personnes sur vf en disent que du bien. concernant les visites excursions il y à plein de choses prposé n'oublies pas que c'est l'une des plus vieilles foret du monde.

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. For those familiar with SOUTHEAST ASIA, I'm planning to leave in mid-June (with the trip ending at the latest in November), and I don’t have a precise idea of exact places or itineraries yet. The thing is, this period is usually the rainy season...
Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).
Any recommendations? I’m doing my research online, but if anyone here has the time and knowledge, I’d love to hear from you.
My partner and I are planning a trip to Indonesia in September-October 2026. It’ll be our first time in Asia, and we’re thinking of hitting the classic spots in East Java and Bali, then wrapping up with a cruise around Komodo for some snorkeling/diving. My girlfriend and I booked our tickets with Saudia Airlines for a trip to Thailand this summer, from July 5th to August 3rd. Given the geopolitical situation in the Middle East, we’re keeping a close eye on the news.
I was wondering if anyone here is in the same situation as us?
• Have you heard anything about possible mass cancellations or if the airline is still maintaining its routes to Asia?
• Are there any travelers who’ve recently returned who could tell us if air corridors have been changed (longer flight times)?
