Hi everyone,

What a joy to be back here and pick up where we left off after all these months of hiatus.

I hope you’ll enjoy the story of this little trip around the Eastern Mediterranean. This cruise was the perfect way to satisfy our longing to return to Greece and Istanbul. The end of the season, until late November, is the best time to visit the Mediterranean in my opinion—when climate disruptions don’t get in the way.

Departing from Trieste, our stops were Katakolon, Piraeus, Kusadasi, Istanbul, Corfu, and Bari, before returning to Trieste and then Venice, where we planned a very short 24-hour stay.

We left home at 6:15 AM—our first cruise departure since moving to Normandy. What I miss most about living in the Gard is how close we were to Marseille Airport. No more hopping over to Marignane in an hour; now we have to plan for a three-hour trip to CDG, even under the best conditions on an early Sunday morning.

It was impossible to book a hotel night before our flight because, starting in April, the Ibis was priced at 450 € per night, and the Mercure was flirting with 800 €—breakfast not included, of course. 😏

I had a feeling there must’ve been a conference or something going on… Turns out, it was just the auto show. They simply adjusted the room prices to match the cost of the cars. 😛

Our flight took us to Venice, where we caught a FlixBus to Trieste. We arrived at Trieste’s train station in the afternoon and walked to our hotel in the city center.

After treating ourselves to an amazing pizza at a restaurant (Di Napoli Maestri Pizzaioli, Via Armando Diaz 10) for a very reasonable price, we enjoyed the mild evening temperature while exploring the stunning buildings of this charming city by night. These magnificent structures are a testament to the city’s past. Trieste became Austrian in 1382 due to its complicated relationship with Venice, and it wasn’t until 1918, at the end of World War I, that it became Italian again. The city’s lighting beautifully highlights the architecture of the buildings.

The terraces were lively, and the atmosphere was so warm and inviting that we wanted to stay out even longer.



But we’d been up since 4 AM, so we were happy to retreat to the quiet of our hotel, located in the pedestrian center just a few steps from the port (Urban Hotel Design—highly recommended).

I need to take the Explora I ship for a cruise departing from Venice (Fusina port) in mid-October.

We’re spending two days in Venice beforehand. How do we get to the ship? Is it easier to take the train back to Mestre and then a taxi? Are there taxis at Mestre station? Do we need to book in advance? Do you know of a reliable company?

Explora doesn’t offer a bus transfer and mentions a water taxi for 360 €!!!!

Lors de ma prochaine croisière, le bateau accostera à Portofino de 8 à 17H. Quelqu'un connaitrait-il le moyen le plus approprié de rejoindre Gênes sans passer par le croisiériste ?

Dans le cas où nous resterions sur Portofino, qu'y a t-il de sympa à faire tant culturel que gastronomique ?

Bonsoir je souhaiterai faire l'excursion à Capri sans MSC en sachant que le bateau accoste à 7h 00 et repart à 17h, j'ai regarder sur le site des ferry , mais c'est vague , lequel prendre ? lequel est le plus rapide ? de quel port? car il y en a qui disent que certains ferry vous deposent plus loin😐, si quelqu'un d'entre vous l'a fait et a ete à lheure pour le dpart du bateau , je suis preneuse de toute infos!! merci

je dois partir en croisière avec le costa smeralda fin avril, départ de Marseille et escale en Espagne et Italie. bateau de plus de 5 000 croisiéristes et 1 500 personnes d'équipage. actuellement pas de possibilité d'annuler la croisières sauf à payer 20% voir 30% du coût. Je suis surpris, à la vue de la capacité du bateau, que cette croisière ne soit pas annulée par les conditions à respecter pour éviter le coronavirus

Bonjour, je suis en train de reporter une croisière prévue au mois de mars 2020 départ des Maldives arrivée Venise 28 jours. J'ai une proposition sur le Diadema et je souhaiterai savoir par des personnes qui connaissent ce bateau si les cabines situées à l'arrivée des ascenseurs sont plus bruyantes que celles situées en face de cabines intérieures, en fait on me propose les cabines 8069 et 8071 ou les cabines 10049 et 10045 avec balcon. Hello, We’ve just returned from our cruise on the Smeralda. There were four of us in balcony cabin 17001—a nice cabin with a large balcony and a very practical bathroom, though storage was a bit tight for four (small wardrobe and small shelf). Our assigned restaurant, El Meneghino, served good and hearty meals. The buffet was fine—since it’s a large ship, we always found free tables at different times, whether for breakfast or lunch. The food was good but not very varied. Be sure to check the daily program for meal times, as they change every day with different options: either buffet, fixed-menu restaurant, or both. The pools and jacuzzis were very small and crowded, and despite the nice weather that week, we never saw the aquapark open. There are plenty of bars where you can easily find a spot to enjoy a drink in peace or with music. The theater was very small and had unusual hours. Over the week, we only managed to see two shows live—the rest were on TV in the cabin. We did two Costa excursions: one in Rome with the express train, which was very pleasant, and the other in Pisa, which was well-organized for independent exploration. Overall, we were quite satisfied with our trip, but we still prefer MSC. Have a nice Sunday.

J'ai déjà fait des recherches sur le forum et ailleurs au sujet des escales que j'aurai, mais il reste quelques questions à ceux qui ont fait ces excursions récemment. Celles proposées par le bateau sont très chères (beaucoup plus chères que chez Costa/MSC etc.).

1) Civitavecchia - je voudrais aller à Tarquinia. Où peut-on acheter les tickets du bus Cotral (trop cher manifestement chez le chauffeur) ? Les informations sont contradictoires ou datent d'il y a longtemps. L'escale dure de 8h à 19h, je pense avoir le temps. Est-ce que les horaires sur le site Cotral sont fiables ? Est-il possible d'aller du centre-ville jusqu'aux nécropoles à pied ?

2) Naples - j'ai prévu d'aller à Herculanum. Y a-t-il toujours une possibilité d'acheter les tickets tram (bus ?) et train dans un kiosque à côté du port ? L'escale dure de 8h à 19h.

3) Livourne - est-ce que cela vaut la peine de prendre une excursion (très chère) à Orvieto ? Comme alternative je pourrais aller à Pise en train (pourtant je connais bien), est-il possible d'aller à la gare à pied depuis le lieu où la navette dépose les gens ? Est-ce que la navette est gratuite ?

4) Cannes - je pense prendre la bateau pour l'île Sainte-Marguerite. Y a-t-il mieux à faire ?

Nous partons en croisière en octobre sur le MSC fantasia. y at'il des personnes qui peuvent nous renseigner pour les sites à voir notamment à Venise où nous resterons deux jours avant le départ. Avez vous de bons plans pour les escales: Split, Dubrovnik, Santorin, Sarande, Ancône? Nous serons huit et aimerions éviter les excursions prises sur le bateau.

Pour ceux ou celles qui ont visité les îles Borromées à Streisa, Lac Majeur, Italie du Nord, existe-t-il une meilleure croisière qu’une autre? Un meilleur style de bateau? Une meilleure compagnie? Vos commentaires et/ou vos expériences seraient appréciés!

Bonjour, je pars de Marseille du 15 au 26/10/19 avec une amie, pour une croisière avec COSTA, sur le navire Costa Pacifica. Les 7 escales sont Arrecife, Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Funchal, Malaga, Savone, Rome( Civitavecchia). Qui a déjà fait cette croisière ? Et est-il judicieux de souscrire les visites sur le bateau (ce n'est pas donné!!) , ou peut on individuellement visiter chaque ville ? Merci pour votre réponse.

Je prévois une croisière en Méditerranée (Italie, Espagne, Sicile :Marseille, Nice/Sabine, Naples, barcelone, Palerme, valence, ...) en avril 2020 à bord du Costa Diadema en chambre intérieure certainement . J’ai lu beaucoup de mauvais commentaires sur ce bateau. Mais sachant que bien souvent les personnes laissent des commentaires quand ils sont mécontents et non quand ils sont satisfaits, j’aimerai avoir d’autres avis sur un séjour de 2019 svp. De même, si vous avez des conseils pour la vie sur le bateau : restaurants choix de l’heure, spectacles, boissons, activités à bords, excursions avec Costa ou par soi même ? Je vous remercie.

Bonjour nous partons pour notre première croisière sur le Fantasia le 11/8/2019 je suis en train de regarder les excursions possibles mais je me pose la question suivante : quand nous ne sommes pas sur le bateau pour le repas du midi pouvons-nous emporter un panier repas ou prendre quelque chose en plus au petit déjeuner il y a t-il des possibilités d'emporter quelque chose ? merci de vos réponses Philippe

We’re boarding a Costa cruise on the Deliziosa next weekend at 11:30 AM. Our flight lands at 10 AM at Trieste Airport. Unfortunately, there’s no train before 11 AM, so we’ll arrive around noon, later than the time indicated on the boarding pass. Could you confirm that we can easily arrive 30 minutes later? I imagine there must be quite a wait to board.
