Bonjour à tous, Nous revenons d'un périple de 3 semaines en juillet aout avec 2 semaines sur le Nord Vietnam (Hanoï, les montagnes du NO vers Ha Giang à deux pas de la frontière chinoise puis les deux baies d'Halong (terrestre et maritime), le delta du fleuve rouge (à faire; pas de touristes rencontrés), Hué, Hoï An et vol pour le Cambodge de Da Nang pour SiemReap pour les temples d'Angkor puis le lac Tonlé Sap au centre du pays et enfin Pnohm Penh pour le retour France, Nice avec Emirates via Dubaï. Nous avons été trés loins de notre "zone de confort" parfois lorsque chez l'habitant et souvent éloignés des zones touristiques que ce soit pour loger ou pour manger. Nous avons évités toutes ces agences sur Hanoï qui vous proposent les mêmes choses en 1/2 ou 3 jours. Je vous recommande notre guide francophone si cela vous intéresse. Il est indépendant et en plus est féru de botanique et se déplace sur l'ensemble du Vietnam. Une belle rencontre.

Pour le Cambodge, restez sur Siem Reap et les temples d'Angkor, le reste peut être évité.

Hi everyone, I’m starting to plan my next trip to Southeast Asia this winter (2.5 months, leaving in early December), and here’s a rough outline of my route—I’d love to share it with you and hear your thoughts and tips.

- I’ll start in Bangkok and already have three spots I’ve marked: Ayutthaya, Kanchanaburi, and Uthai Thani (I haven’t been to any of these places yet). - Next, I’d like to cross the country from west to east to reach the Laos border. I’d love suggestions for any interesting stops along this route—I don’t know this part of Thailand at all... - Then I’ll head into Laos, probably at Savannakhet (you can usually get a visa at the border). - > I’m tempted to spend a week in Hoi An, Vietnam, since I loved that city and the area when I visited two years ago. No visa needed for Vietnam now, so it could be a nice little detour. On the map, it doesn’t look too far, but I know you’ve got to be careful with these things, and I’m not sure if it’s a good idea. Any opinions on this? - Back to Laos (maybe via Dakta), and I’ll head south along the Mekong, probably doing the Bolaven Plateau loop that I missed last time. Then Paksé, the 4,000 Islands... I’ve been before, but I’d happily go back. - Crossing into Cambodia, I’ll follow the Mekong down to Phnom Penh (I know this area and love how untouristy it is). From there, I’ll probably spend a few days in Kep (quieter than Kampot). Still undecided, though. - Then back to Thailand (BKK), likely by plane from Phnom Penh since the borders between the two countries are currently closed (plus, let’s be honest, Cambodian roads... ;-). We’ll see how things look when the time comes. - After that, I’d like to explore southern Thailand, taking it slow with short hops. I’ve got my eye on Khao Sok National Park, and I’ve heard good things about Krabi... Again, I don’t know this region well, so any info or tips would be great.

So, I think this should be doable in 2.5 months, especially since I prefer short hops of 300 km max to avoid getting too tired, and I like staying 2-3 days in each place to explore. Plus, I’ll take a week off to relax if I find a spot I love—maybe by the sea for some real downtime.

Nous avons pris contact avec Sokdin pour visiter les temples d Angkor, le lac Tonle Sap, Siem Reap et la région sur 4 jours. C est un très bon tuk tuk diver! I really loved Thailand, but it was too touristy for my taste. So I'm hesitating about going back and wondering if Cambodia or Vietnam would be less crowded with tourists...

Hi there, We’re heading to Cambodia for 15 days in February 2026. We’ll spend 3 nights in Siem Reap for the Angkor temples, then check out the floating markets. I’d love to know if Battambang is worth the detour. If so, we’re thinking of taking a ferry across the lake, staying one night, and then flying to the islands for the second week. Which islands would you recommend—Koh Rong or Koh Rong Samloem—or is there another that’s better for relaxation, downtime, and snorkeling? Thanks for your tips!

Je ne dois pas être le premier à poster ce genre de message, mais je m'interroge sur la faisabilité de mon voyage en Asie, prévu (dans l'absolu) du 29 octobre au 25 novembre.

Ma première destination serait le Nord Vietnam (avec Allez/retour depuis Hanoi mais rien n'est fait je n'ai pas encore prix le billet), 1 semaine voire 10 jours à Hanoi, Ha-Long et Sapa. Puis 1 semaine à Siem Reap pour visiter Angkor, puis, à moins d'une proposition bonus, 3/4 jours à Bangkok, puis éventuellement Chiang Mai que je connais déjà et plage en Thailande.

Mon moyen de déplacement principal serait l'avion car je ne veux pas perdre trop de temps en transit. Je sais qu'idéalement il vaut mieux se focaliser sur un seul pays, mais je préfère jouer la carte de la découverte quitte à revenir plus longtemps dans le futur.

Mon objectif est de mêler culture, gastronomie, rencontres, vie nocturne... (pas vraiment boite, plus bars tranquilles où boire une bière et rencontrer des gens)

Qu'en pensez-vous? Vu depuis mon écran d'ordinateur et google map ça me semble possible mais je sais que parfois la réalité peut être toute autre !

Par ailleurs on m'a conseillé de plutôt faire Paris-Bangkok puis Cambodge, puis Vietnam, vous pensez que ce serait plus judicieux? (La problématique est la météo au Nord Vietnam, qui devrait changer début novembre, bien que ce ne soit pas une science exacte)

I’m heading back to Cambodia in a few weeks and had a couple of questions:

1/ the new airport Does anyone have info on the average tuk-tuk fare? From the old one, we’d usually pay between $7 and $10. Are we looking at the same range? It seems a bit farther, so maybe a little pricier. If you’ve got a rough idea of the time (always better to budget extra), I’m guessing around an hour?

2/ access to Preah Vihear temple I haven’t been back in a few years, but I was thinking of revisiting it this year. Given the border troubles, is access still allowed at the moment?

L’ile de Koh Dach (prononcer "Kodak"), baptisée « ile de la Soie " par les Français, car il y a de nombreuses maisons où est tissée de la soie brute chinoise et japonaise, se trouve à environ 10 km au nord de Phnom Penh au beau milieu du Mékong. Pour y aller, c’est le tuk-tuk ou le scooter de location si vous choisissez cette solution, il faut traverser le pont japonais et prendre la route 6, direction Siem Reap plusieurs bacs indiqués par une photo sur un panneau à droite quelques kilomètres après le pont.

Trois hôtels dans l’ile, tous de l’autre côté de l’ile par rapport aux bacs, donc, en scooter, tourner à gauche en haut de la rampe de sortie du bac, puis à droite après deux salons de coiffure et encore à droite au marché. La Villa Kroma, avec piscine, mais du béton nu et, en arrivant, la réception est à gauche et la zone de gravats à droite, le tout pour 40$. La Red House est enfouie sous des arbres, donc très sombre à l’intérieur, et au bord d’une morne route en béton. Séjourner à la très charmante Villa Koh Dach, juste après la Kroma, propriété du très sympathique et cultivé notre ami Roger Barthas. Bavarder avec lui, c’est un puits de connaissances sur le Cambodge et l’ile ! Une jolie terrasse pleine de fleurs et d’arbres, 4 chambres très correctes (2 doubles à 12$, une triple à 22 et une quadruple à 25, petit-déjeuner non inclus) et un restaurant où l’on se régale (plats très copieux – Si vous voulez du poisson, il faut le commander le matin je me suis régalé avec du tout frais à la sauce tomate). Location de vélos (2$) et de scooters (8$). Service impeccablement souriant. Bref, j’étais parti pour une nuit et j’y suis resté trois.

Cinq belles pagodes, avec une unique, celle qui est juste après le dernier bac quand on arrive de la Villa Koh Dach vous allez au fond du complexe et prenez une jolie petite route bordée de grands arbres vous arrivez dans une pagode étonnante, car la cour est pleine de statues multicolores représentant des épisodes de récits bouddhistes et, à l’intérieur, les murs et le plafond sont couverts de belles peintures.

Il y a également à la pointe nord de l’ile une petite plage aménagée (3$ de droit d’entrée).

Je vous sollicite car je vais partir en Thaïlande en mars, et j'aurais un peu de temps vers mi-mars/fin mars et j'hésite à visiter alors entre le Laos et le Cambodge.

C'est surtout au niveau de la sécheresse, on m'a dit qu'elle serait très prononcée à cette période et plus au Laos.

Bonjour à tous Nous allons faire une ballade d'environ 3 semaines au Cambodge, ( début février 2020 ) en faisant nos visas directement à l'aéroport de Siem Reap (c'est notre premier voyage au Cambodge) Notre vol Air asia (Bkk/Siem Reap) arrive à 21 h 10 et nous avons réservé les deux premières nuits dans un hôtel (le rose blanche boutique) qui se trouve à environ 20 km de l'aéroport Je suppose que avec le débarquement, les formalités du visa, etc... nous ne sortirons pas de l'aéroport avant 23 h et ma question est comment rejoindre notre hôtel , tuk tuk , taxi ...?, quel serait le juste prix en tuk tuk par exemple ? ou en taxi ? , l'heure sera tardive j'espère que l'hôtel sera ouvert pour nous recevoir Merci pour vos réponses

So, my flight tickets have just been booked for a trip to Cambodia from November 4th to 27th, 2025. I’ll be traveling solo and want to explore this amazing country while getting a bit off the beaten path. I’m arriving in Phnom Penh and also departing from Phnom Penh. My goal is to travel as much as possible by bus and scooter. What itinerary would you recommend? What are the must-do things? I’m open to all tips and info. We got back enchanted from a 6-week trip to Cambodia! Our itinerary: Kampot - Kampong Chhnang - Battambang - Siem Reap - Kampong Cham - Sen Monorom (Mondulkiri) - Banlung (Ratanakiri) - Kratie - Kampong Thom - Phnom Penh. We traveled by bus, minivan, boat (between Battambang and Siem Reap), overnight bus, scooter, tuk-tuk, and rickshaw for shorter distances. We stayed in guesthouses, homestays, and even in the jungle during a trek. While the Angkor temples are fabulous, it’s the people you should visit Cambodia for—the "Land of Smiles" truly lives up to its nickname! Tourists gather in Angkor but are quite rare elsewhere, even though the country is easy to travel around. I won’t describe our trip in detail but instead highlight a few favorite moments. From Kampot, don’t hesitate to head out around 6 AM to see the fishermen return and their wives selling their catch (just 10 minutes away by the coast). Guaranteed picturesque! In Battambang, known for its food scene, we discovered a cooking class with Smokin’ Pot (authentic Khmer cooking class). They pick you up from your guesthouse to shop for ingredients (we made fish amok and beef lok lak) at their village market, then cook and eat together. A private class—just the two of us! They also send the recipes via WhatsApp as a PDF. +855 12 821 400 In Siem Reap, I can recommend a francophone tuk-tuk driver who was very attentive to our wishes. We visited tourist spots but also more remote villages and local grilled-pork restaurants with him. We did a 2-day, 1-night trek in Mondulkiri. Don’t expect a super dense jungle—it looks more like a forest similar to ours. But Nara, our Bunong ethnic guide, made the experience adventurous and ultimately very immersive! In Kratie, rent a scooter and follow the Mekong north for 40 km at your own pace. Being so close to the locals was a treat! Same goes for heading south if you have time. Kampong Thom: Head 25 km out to visit the pre-Angkorian temples of Sambor Prei Kuk. Around a hundred monuments spread across three sites… and hardly anyone there!

A few practical tips: Though prices are often listed in dollars, you can always pay in riels (1 USD = 4000 riels), which is what we preferred. PassApp: An app to book tuk-tuks or rickshaws (and most importantly, know the price upfront). Virak Buntham: A bus company connecting several cities, bookable online.

Hi everyone! I’ve booked flights to Phnom Penh for August 26 (no layover in the Emirates as a precaution...). We arrive on Sunday, August 2 in the morning and leave on August 19 around 9 PM (also from Phnom Penh). We’re a couple traveling with three kids aged 9 to 16. Among the many questions I have about our itinerary, a few are standing out: If we arrive in Phnom Penh exhausted, I imagine we’ll need to stay one night there before heading to Siem Reap... but how much time should we spend there to enjoy Angkor in good conditions? Then, Mondulkiri or Battambang? (Because I don’t want it to be a total rush, changing accommodation every two days and praying that bus transfers or private drivers go as planned...). Where does Tonlé Sap Lake fit into all this? And if we end with a beach stay: is Koh Rong a must, or is there another spot? Also, what about the return logistics: should we spend the night before our flight in Phnom Penh to be safe... or do we do everything on August 19... like taking a boat and then the road from Sihanoukville to Phnom Penh, risking missing our flight if anything goes wrong? Nous avons choisi de faire les visites dans ce sens pour varier les visites culturelles pour les enfants. Nous hésitons à prendre un vol pour aller visiter les temples d'Angkor pendant 3 jours mais cela voudrait dire qu'il faut tout modifier. Est ce bien raisonnable ?

J’ai des billets d’avion avec Singapour Airlines du 6 décembre au 11 janvier Zürich-Bangkok aller retour. J’ai perdu tout espoir de pouvoir me rendre en Thailande mais je me demande si je peux encore espérer aller visiter l’Indonésie ou un autre pays à la place... Est-ce qu’il y a des gens qui sont sur place et/ou qui sont mieux informés que moi ? J’ai vu que Bali pense ouvrir ses frontières le 11 septembre. Est-ce que c’est concret ou juste une rumeur ? J'envisage de faire mon premier voyage en solo et j'ai choisi le Cambodge et le Laos. Je pensais faire également le Vietnam mais je me suis vite aperçu que vouloir faire les 3 sans trop courir est un peu prétentieux.

Mon projet d'itinéraire au cambodge: Phnom Penh, Kep/Kampot, Battabang, Siam Reap Au Laos je voudrais le remonter du Sud au Nord : 4000 iles, Pakse et le plateau des Bolavens, Rivière souterraine de Kong Lor, Ventiane, Vang Vieng, Lulang Prabang, Nong Kiaw ou Muang Noi ou Phongsaly. Retour en France au départ de Lulang Prabang Je voudrais rejoindre le sud du Laos par la route via Kratie et Stung Treng

Possible tout ça en 1 mois ? Je voudrais aussi prendre mon temps et savourer chaque endroit.

Nous avons visiter sur 1 journée la ville avec M Vannat. La forêt d hévéas, la fabrique de caoutchouc; l ile koh pen, un village... Il parle bien français et il a gentiment répondu à toutes nos questions ! On le recommande vivement !

Hi everyone, We’re planning to return to Cambodia in July 2026, as a family, for the third time. Since we’ve already visited Siem Reap and Battambang, we’re not considering going back this time. Instead, we’d like to travel more slowly and take the time to settle in. We’re thinking of an itinerary around Mondulkiri, Kampot, and Koh Kong (Tatai waterfalls, mangroves, etc.). For those who know the Koh Kong province and Mondulkiri well: are these areas still accessible and enjoyable during the rainy season? We’d also like to spend 2 or 3 days on an island, but we’re not sure if it’s really feasible at this time of year (sea conditions, boat crossings…). If it’s doable, which one would you recommend? We’re planning to spend only a short time in Phnom Penh, then a few days with family near Koh Thom. If you have any other ideas, firsthand experiences, or suggestions for stops that work well for a trip in July, we’d love to hear them. Thanks in advance !

Does anyone know if there are direct transport options from Cambodia to Ko Chang without having to go back through Bangkok? That would be amazing!! I think there are, but I’d need more details!! Voici le circuit que j'ai crée et j'aimerai avoir votre avis sachant que nous arrivons et repartons de Phnom Penh (PP) PP : 2 nuits, visite des marchés et des pagodes. Savez vous si la messe de Noël est célébrée et si oui , dans quelle église? (je n'ai rien trouvé sur ce sujet sur internet) Kompong Cham: 2 nuits, peut être prendre un guide avec tuk tuk pour visiter la ville et les villages environnants, louer un vélo pour se rendre sur l'ile de Koh Pen Kompong Thom: 2 nuits, visite des villages environnants. Kampong Phluk ? pour être au bord du Tolé Sap. Siem REap: 4 nuits, visites des temples d'Ankor et de la ville. Puis prendre le bateau jusqu'à Battambang : 8 h de bateau Battambang: 2 nuits , visite de la ville. Puis bus jusquà Kep ou alors faire une escale dans une ville entre Batttambang et PP ? A kep : louer une vespa et se ballader , Puis Kampot: louer une vespa, visiter une ferme de poivre Aller sur une ile? retour sur PP voilà plus ou moins notre périple . Le nombre de nuits n'est pas fixe. Pensez vous que c'est jouable en 18jours ou bien est ce trop fatiguant? Avez vous d'autres propositions? Hello everyone! I just got back from a little trip to Cambodia, and I really wanted to share this experience with you—because honestly, it was wow from start to finish. I set my bags down in Siem Reap, and even though I knew the temples would be amazing… I wasn’t expecting that much beauty. Angkor Wat, of course, is THE classic, and you quickly understand why. I went super early in the morning to see the sunrise (yes, 4:30 AM wake-up, and no complaining 😊), and I don’t regret a second of it: that soft light, the silhouettes of the towers in the mist… you feel so small. I also loved Bayon, with its mysterious faces, and Ta Prohm, overrun by giant roots—guaranteed Tomb Raider vibes, but without the crowds of Lara Croft. What I found amazing is that beyond the big temples, there are plenty of quieter, almost forgotten spots where you can sit, listen to the birds, and just soak in the moment. It was hot (really hot!), so I didn’t hesitate to take breaks in the shade with a nice cold mango juice. For nature, I took a little trip to Tonlé Sap Lake. Very different, more raw, but super interesting. The floating villages are surprising—it makes you think about life at the rhythm of the water, and I was lucky enough to chat a bit with a local thanks to my guide. Authentic, simple, and touching. And then those kids rowing like pros in plastic boats… respect. In short, this trip did me so much good. Landscapes that filled my eyes, sincere smiles, and that feeling of having brushed against something bigger, something older. Cambodia—I’m not really leaving it behind; I’m bringing a little piece of it with me. If you’re hesitating about going: just go for it! Je souhaite avoir vos impressions si vous revenez tout dernièrement de ce pays : Y a t-il des mesures particulières prises par les TO ? Je pense au port du masque par exemple ? Alright, I’m scaling back the kilometers thanks to the relevance and patience of our Cambodia experts! Here’s yet another hesitation /\ When I arrive early on 01/12 in PP, I have the choice between spending a day in PP (booking a convenience room for half a day and leaving by night bus), sleeping in PP and taking the bus to SR the next morning, or hiring a driver to head back up to PP with a nice little stop and maybe sleeping in Kampong Thom or Kampong Chhnang, then heading to SP on the 13th. Then from the 13th to the 17th or 18th, exploring Angkor. I continue to Kampong Thom and stay for 2 nights (if I didn’t do it on the way there), but I might be templed-out by then. I head to Kampong Cham, where I’ll spend 2 nights—one on the island and one on the mainland. Next, I go to Kampot and Kep: probably 2 nights in Kampot, 2 in Kep, and 1 night on Tonsay Island. On 01/28, I return to PP until 01/29. One detail: how long does it take to get from downtown PP to the new airport? Because I leave on 01/29 around 7:50 PM... Anyway, I’m ready to read your unfiltered reactions 🤓 and thank you in advance for your help!
