Je pars avec ma copine du 11 au 30 Juillet aux Açores. Nous avons d'ores et déjà prévu notre itinéraire entre les différentes îles (billets SATA reservés):
Sao Miguel: 11 au 14/07
Flores: 14 au 18/07
Faial: 19 et 20/07
Pico: 21 au 23/07
Sao Jorge: 24 au 27/07
Sao Miguel: 28 et 29/07
Avion retour le 30 au matin.
J'aimerais avoir vos avis sur les lieux incontournables, les loueurs de voiture et les campings à privilégier/éviter.

Je pars cet été avec mon mari quasiment aux mêmes dates que toi: du 14 juillet au 2 août.
Notre itinéraire est un peu différent.
Sao Miguel: 6 nuits
Faial: 2 ou 3 nuits ?
Pico: 3 nuits
Sao Jorge: 4 ou 5 nuits ?
Terceira: 3 nuits
Nous avons hésité à aller à Flores car ça semble très beau aussi mais il fallait faire des choix!
Nous avons réservé les vols internationaux et le vol Sao Miguel/Faial et Sao Jorge/Terceira ainsi que les hébergements à Sao Miguel et Terceira par "AirBandB".
On a aussi réservé la voiture à Sao Miguel, c'est assez cher, le + économique que j'ai trouvé c'est "Economy Car Rentals" et il y avait 1 offre avec le 2eme conducteur offert, c'est tout de même 231€ pour 5 jours.
Entre les autres îles, on pense prendre le bateau.
Penses tu qu'il faille réserver si l'on passe en piéton ?
Sur les petites îles on envisageait de louer un scooter, avez vous creusé cette question ?
Concernant les campings je n'ai pas trop à te dire car on envisage de se loger tout le temps avec "AirBandB".
A propos des incontournables, d'après des gens qui y sont allés, il semble que tout soit beau quand on aime la nature.
Sao Jorge serait particulièrement recommandé pour la randonnée.
On va peut être se croiser car les îles sont assez petites.

J'ai lu pas mal de témoignages qui disent que les trajets en bateau en piéton sont assez fréquents entre Pico-Faial-Sao Jorge donc pas utile de réserver (pour Terceira je ne sais pas).
Pour ce qui est de la location de véhicules c'est effectivement super cher. Je pense que l'on va également s'orienter vers l'option scooter pour Sao Jorge et Pico (20 à 25 euros par jour à ce que j'ai pu voir). Pour Faial j'ai trouvé une offre de location de voiture à 75 euros pour deux jours avec Rentalcars.
Comme d'habitude, depuis des années désormais, au Japon, en Nouvelle Zélande et ailleurs, par un comparateur et un broker.
Carigami pour le comparateur et pour la deuxième fois chez un broker chez qui j'avais eu un tarif canon dans le nord de la Grèce.
J'ai réservé par Carigami, mi avril chez Enterprise pour Paris, puis mêmes sociétés pour Edinburgh et donc Ponta Delgada où j'irai chez Luso.

C'est en effet un bon tarif mais je pense que c'est beaucoup moins cher en juin qu'en juillet/août.
J'ai beaucoup cherché et le moins cher que j'ai trouvé à Sao Miguel c'est 231€ du 14 au 20 juillet, soit 6 jours.
Je me demande si ça vaut vraiment le coup financièrement de louer des scooter car c'est quand même 25€/ jour et autour de 40€/jour pour une voiture.
Sur le scooter, on ne peut pas y mettre les bagages, il faut donc 1 taxi pour aller à l'hébergement (les bus il n'y a pas grand chose sur les petites îles) puis aller chercher le scooter et même chose pour le départ.
Si vous avez trouvé des solutions pratiques avec le scooter, je suis preneuse.

D'autan qe ns allons sur les mêmes îles sauf Flores .
J'ai eu bcp de mal a trouver un loueur)/de voiture) sur chaque îles rassemblant ttes les qualités qe je souhaitais ( pas trop cher, contrat clair, voiture moyenne, ...) J'ai écrit a chacun des plus connus là bas (ilha verde, autatlantis....) j'ai reçu des réponses très peu précises et surtout assez chères. Et lorsque j'insistais pr mieux comprendre, ils me répondaient soit la même chose soit en me prenant de " haut" , d'une manière condescendante ! Eh oui !
Finalement en désespoir de cause je me suis tournée vers le loueur renseigné par la compagnie d'avion nous transportant jusqu'à là ( jetair ) Ils font appel a un sous traitant : sunnycars . Ce denier propose des offres claires : contrat tt compris et fort bon marché de surcroît ! Ils sont bien notés lorsque j'ai cherché la valeur de leurs services de loueur ... Bref ttes les qualités qe je cherchais , semblaient ils avoir! Nous verrons ...
Mais à vous de voir aussi le loueur de votre compagnie vous transportant depuis votre patrie .
Sunnycars a l'air de deservir les grosses compagnies et je me suis dite qu'ils n'ont pas intérêt a être trop nul pr garder leur places a côtés de telles compagnies .
Sunnycars a un service d'aide 24h/24 : là j'ai testé ils rappellent tt de suite ..
On verra sur place et on vs dira..

NB bien qe ns soyons bien .plus âgés qe vous, nous sommes encore " dynamiques" ...euh, jusqu'à maintenant en.tt cas :-)
C'est pareil pour moi: l'an dernier, j'ai reservé via Jet Air chez Sunny Cars (qui travaille en association avec Ilha Verde, si j'ai bien compris) et tout était clair question contrat et assurance. Je n'ai pas eu le moindre problème avec la voiture, qui correspondait à la catégorie demandée et qui était neuve (Elle avait moins de 1000 Km! J'étais sans doute le second ou le 3ème à la louer).
Je retourne aux Açores cette année et ce sera la même chose pour la location de voiture. On peut sûrement trouver moins cher, c'est vrai, mais je pense (ceci n'engage que moi) que dans ce domaine, vouloir chercher à toute force le meilleur marché est rarement un bon calcul (Cela ne vaut pas seulement pour les Açores, bien sûr). On risque souvent de se retrouver avec des voitures qui ont déjà beaucoup vécu et ceci est un euphémisme.
Ex de location via sunnycars : 8 jrs pour 266€ tt compris pr une renault Clio AC , !!s ont des conventions avc ts les gros loueur et ici c'est chez autatlantis... Je trouve le prix ..excellent .. A réfléchir en effet , par rapport au côté pratique du scooter ( pas transporter valise, nécessité de reprendre un taxi pr rejoindre bateau ou aéroport...). A réfléchir ....bonne réflexion donc !
Le scooter a aussi un autre inconvénient.
Le climat des Açores est assez humide. Il peut pleuvoir n'importe quand, même durant l'été ! Et rouler en deux roues sous la pluie n'a rien d'agréable. A ce point de vue, la voiture est nettement plus pratique!

Le 28 juillet, prend-tu le vol Sao-Jorge/Sao Miguel de 9h00 arrivé 10h35 ?
Nous avons loué des voitures sur chacune des îles (Sauf Corvo car une seule route...) avec l'agence de location Autatlantis qui est présente sur toutes les îles de l'archipel. L'agence à l'air très sérieuse. Nous avons réservé les voitures début avril et ils n'en restaient presque plus de disponibles...
A ce que j'ai lu et crû comprendre, je te déconseille le scooter car les routes sont parfois très glissantes ( Aux Açores, c'est les 4 saisons en une journée et cela même en été... !) et peuvent alors devenir dangereuses, de plus, si vous sac à dos sont assez conséquents comme les nôtres, cela peut être aussi dangereux sur certaines routes (virages...).
Je ne peux te conseiller aucun campings ou autres car nous dormons dans toutes les îles dans des gîtes ou chambres d'hôtes (Bed and Breakfast).
Quant aux lieux incontournables, je te conseille d'acheter le guide petit Futé Açores édition 2016-2017 qui te renseignera énormément. Juste, ne manque pas le Fête de l'émigrant sur l'île de Flores (village de Lajes das Flores), qui se déroule au moment de ton passage sur Flores. C'est une fête traditionnelle açorienne qui rend hommage aux habitants ayant quitté l'île en quête de meilleurs conditions de vie
As-tu prévu de passer une journée sur Corvo lors de ton passage à Flores ?
Nouvelle sur ce forum je prévois un séjour aux Açores en solo en juillet , les membres de ma famille refusant de prendre l'avion... Que pensez de Terra Lusitania qui propose un circuit sur trois îles (10 jours ) pour plus de mille euros avec visite en groupe de huit personnes , chambre en ¨hôtel + un vol intérieur + une traversée en bateau pour les trois île S.Miguel, Pico, Faial, .
La formule scooter + Air B and B me parait intéressante mais je n'ai pas réservé...
3 îles en 10 jours, bien sûr c'est faisable mais tenez compte du temps que vous allez perdre pour vos déplacements : deux heures d'avion pour aller de Lisbonne à Sao Miguel plus le temps perdu à l'aéroport au départ et à l'arrivée, plus le transfert à l'hôtel, cela fait déjà une journée bien entamée, à l'aller comme au retour. Le bateau de Pico à Faial ne prend qu'une demi-heure mais par contre, s'il est prévu un ferry de Sao Miguel vers Pico ou Faial, cela vous prendra entre 11 et 14 h. Au total, votre temps de séjour sur les îles proprement dites est déjà bien entamé.
Personnellement, je préfère prendre mon temps pour visiter à mon aise. Je passerai 10 jours sur la seule Sao Miguel cet été (et ce n'est pas la 1ère fois que j'y vais) mais à chacun ses préférences; c'est vous qui décidez.
Je déconseille le scooter pour la raison expliquée dans mon précédent message mais quand on voyage seul, c'est évidemment plus intéressant qu'une voiture.
Dommage que votre famille ait peur de prendre l'avion car les Açores sont des îles magnifiques. Vous leur donnerez peut-être l'envie d'y aller quand ils verront vos photos...🙂

Sur tous les forums relatifs aux Açores, il y a toujours cette question récurrente : " Combien de jours sur telle ou telle île... ? " Comme si les gens avaient peur de s'y embêter! A de telles questions, j'ai toujours envie de répondre : "Autant de jours qu'il vous plaira!" Les gens courent déjà toute l'année et en vacances, au lieu de s'accorder un peu de répit, ils continuent à courir !
Les Açores sont un des plus beaux endroits d'Europe. C'est dommage de ne pas prendre le temps de les découvrir vraiment...
C'est juste. Je me demandais, sur place, quel est l'intérêt de faire la visite exhaustive des différentes îles alors que les paysages sauf rares exceptions et endroits précis, sont relativement identiques, surtout dans les campagnes, idem pour le climat.
Une visite à fond d'une île, à pied de préférence ou sous forme de randonnées, donnera un meilleur retour sur investissement qu'un tour complet en survol de l'archipel dont on n'aura, in fine, rien retenu.
Je dirai tout de même que si ces îles ont un indéniable « air de famille », chacune est néanmoins différente des autres : paysages, végétation, relief, curiosités naturelles diverses et même au niveau de la fréquentation touristique, chaque île a ses spécificités. A ce point de vue, je comprends qu’on puisse avoir envie de les visiter toutes. Et personnellement, j’espère bien visiter prochainement celles que je ne connais pas encore… mais en prenant mon temps et certainement pas en un seul voyage !
Nous revenons tout juste de 3 semaines aux Açores et sommes sous le charme. Nous sommes allés à Sao Miguel, Faial, Pico, Sao Jorge et Terceira.
Elles avaient toutes leurs particularité avec des similitudes. Des gens adorables, des paysages à couper le souffle, un climat idéal ni trop chaud ni trop froid, des belles randos, température de l'eau idéale aussi et très claire (avec quelques méduses tout de même), de très jolies maisons...
Sao Miguel et Terceira un peu moins sauvages mais Angra do Heroismo est une belle ville.
Nous nous sommes logés avec "AirBandB", c'était très bien.
Que dire de plus ? La prochaine fois nous irons aussi à Flores...

We’re planning a short trip at the end of July to explore the legendary mountains and valleys of the Bernese Oberland: round trip from Nancy (Swiss highway vignette planned), 2 nights in a room with a small kitchen in Adelboden, then 2 nights in a hotel at the Gletscherblick in Grindelwald, both with half-board included.
Could you share some tips on the best road routes to take, as well as some walking hikes (we’re not as fit as we used to be, so nothing longer than 2-3 hours)? Maybe also 1 or 2 cable car rides—I was thinking of Oeschinensee Lake above Kandersteg and the First gondola above Grindelwald for better panoramic views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau... all while keeping it doable with our schedule. We’ve ruled out the "premium" trip up to the Jungfraujoch for this time.
I’m also guessing that paying to access Wengen or Mürren only makes sense if we’re staying there for a few days, right?

I’ve found some great deals on flights to two destinations: Menorca in the Balearic Islands and Alghero in Sardinia.
The flights would take us from Bordeaux to Menorca on the evening of 9/07 and return to Bordeaux in the evening on 13/07.
Or to Alghero very early on 10/07 (departure at 6 AM) and return in the mid-afternoon on 13/07.
We love beautiful landscapes, the sea, snorkeling, walks (hiking), and the charm of villages.
We want to spend some quality time as a couple without our kids and mix discovery with relaxation.
I can’t make up my mind. The transport costs are roughly the same when you factor in parking for Sardinia since the early departure means no public transport from home.
We’ve never been to Menorca, Sardinia, or Italy at all. I’ve been to Majorca, though.
Menorca would be 4 nights and 4 days, while Alghero would be 3 nights and 2.5 days.
Also, what itinerary would you recommend for Alghero and Menorca?

I visited the Faroe Islands in late March 2026 for about ten days. I was invited by a friend who lives near Tórshavn, so I don’t have any info on tourist accommodations or car rentals. Still, I’d like to share a few thoughts about my trip:
- Before leaving, I consulted travel guides and blogs. I was surprised by how repetitive and unoriginal the featured sites were. This leads hurried travelers to follow the same overcrowded routes, which can annoy locals. I found that all Faroese villages were interesting—they reflect the country’s identity, even without the iconic grass-roofed houses. Those are indeed harmonious and beautiful, but they feel like an exotic cliché. For activities, I loved the lively ports that keep the country running.
- I was annoyed by the paid trails in tourist spots. Locals explained that these paths cross private land, and owners are responsible for maintenance and safety. There are plenty of free trails, too—signs at the start detail their features. While not alarmist, the extreme and unpredictable weather is a key factor to consider before setting out.
- The wind’s strength really impressed me. The architecture, with doors and windows opening outward to prevent gusts from blowing roofs off, speaks to the harsh climate. Some days, relentless rain and squalls made going outside unappealing. I realized that in this country, it’s best to plan for flexible indoor days.
- Distances are relatively short. I was happy to be based near Tórshavn because it was easy to explore one or more places in a day. The roads are in great condition. In late March, diesel was 2 €. Tunnel tolls can add up (~26 € per crossing), making a fixed base less practical than I’d thought.
- Everyone agrees: the landscapes are breathtaking. Nature feels untamed here—except for the short grass, thanks to all the woolly sheep.
- The flight from Paris to the Faroe Islands (and back) was long in March—11 hours with three legs: Paris-Amsterdam, Amsterdam-Copenhagen, Copenhagen-Vágar. In bad weather, Vágar Airport can close, causing delays. During tourist season, Atlantic Airways offers a direct Paris-Faroe Islands flight, which is more comfortable and cheaper.
- I found a book recommendation in a guide that fascinated me after my trip: *Les collectionneurs d'images* by Joanes Nielsen. Through its sometimes caricatured characters, it offers a glimpse into Faroese mentalities from the 1950s to 1970s—attitudes that likely persist today.
In conclusion, I’ve traveled a lot and I’m tired of destinations that all start to look the same. The Faroe Islands were a delight—a country stunning in its landscape, climate, and culture, where tourism has barely altered its authenticity.

Summer 2027 is going to be Norwegian for us!
We’re heading to the Lofoten Islands first, then Senja, near Tromsø, and finally the North Cape.
We’ll likely start from northern Finland (flight tickets and car rentals are more affordable there).
I’d like to book accommodations early to have more options.
Good value-for-money places go fast in these pricey Nordic destinations...
But where should we book?
We’re planning to stay around ten nights in the Lofoten Islands.
What’s the best approach?
One place in the central part and explore from there?
One place in the south and another in the center?
Or one in the south, one in the center, and one in the north (3-4-3 nights)?

We’re heading to Bavaria from May 13 to 23, with a side trip to Austria.
Here’s our itinerary:
Day 1: Brussels-Munich
Day 2: Munich
Day 3: Munich and departure for Salzburg
We’ll be staying three nights in Salzburg.
Then we’ll head to Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where we’ll stay for five nights.
Visiting Munich and Salzburg isn’t too tricky.
Once in Garmisch, we’re planning a day in Innsbruck, a day for Neuschwanstein Castle, and the rest is still up in the air.
What’s really got me stumped is that we’d love to see Königssee Lake—everyone says it’s a must-see.
We’d also like to visit the Eagle’s Nest (Kehlsteinhaus), where the landscapes are supposedly stunning.
This would either be a round trip while we’re in Salzburg or on the way between Salzburg and Garmisch, but I’m guessing it’s impossible to do the drive from Salzburg to Garmisch, the Eagle’s Nest, *and* Königssee Lake all in one day.
Plus, the Alpine route between Salzburg and Garmisch seems prettier than the highway.
But honestly, I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed with the planning.
We should’ve added a stop between Salzburg and Garmisch, but the hotels are already booked.

We’re planning a trip to Finland and Norway this summer, starting in Oulu to explore Lapland, heading up to the North Cape, and then making our way down to Bergen.
This route means renting a car in Finland and dropping it off in Norway. My initial searches are showing rental rates that are... astronomical—about three times the price compared to returning it at the starting point.
I’m guessing I’m not the only one wanting to visit both countries. Are there any great tips to drastically reduce the cost of renting a car?

I’m sharing my draft itinerary with you because I just booked our flight tickets, and I feel like it’s quite late in the season. So, I’d like to be sure about my stops before reserving the hotels. I’ll be traveling alone with my two adult children. We want to prioritize outdoor walks, avoid too many indoor visits (both for budget and preference), and not spend too much time on the road.
D1: Arrival at 9 AM in Malaga, day in Malaga and overnight stay
D2: Head straight to Nerja (1-hour drive) and spend the night there
D3: Head straight to Granada (1.5-hour drive), spend the day and night there
D4: Granada. Visit the Alhambra (Nasrid Palaces tour at 5 PM) and spend the night
D5: Head to Ronda (2.5-hour drive) and spend the night
D6: White Villages and overnight in Ronda
D7: Head straight to the Costa del Sol (e.g., Estepona), spend the day and night there
D8: Return to Malaga to catch our flight
There you go! This itinerary takes into account that we’d like to do a circuit starting from Seville in a few years. That said, it’d be a shame to miss something doable from Malaga.
Questions:
Since the Alhambra visit is only at 5 PM, and we’d already have the day to explore Granada, would arriving the day before be a mistake? Or should we skip this day and dedicate it elsewhere (Costa del Sol? Head toward Tabernas?)? The old town appeals to me, but maybe the Sacromonte neighborhood isn’t essential...
Same question for Ronda: should we dedicate a full day to it, or combine Ronda and the White Villages in one day?
Note that we love wandering around villages outside, so that might answer my question! :)
Final question: Is it better to rent the car at Malaga Airport or in the city? If we rent at the airport, we’d need a hotel with parking, which doesn’t seem easy. Or stay outside the city and park for free near the center if possible? I’ve read comments about taking a taxi to Malaga and then picking up the rental car at the airport the next morning. The taxi would really need to be affordable...

My husband and I are planning a trip to Ireland in September 2026.
We’ll be flying from Montreal to London, where we’ll spend three nights.
After that, we’ll head to Dublin for a few days and take trains to visit the main attractions.
Our ideal plan would be to choose hotels near train stations and take tours to the interesting spots.
Would 8 days in Ireland be enough for this kind of trip?
We’re a group of 4 heading out at the end of June for 11 days.
I’m just starting my research.
We’ll be renting a regular car, not a 4x4.
I’m not finding a ton of info on the North.
Would love your take on all those kilometers—is there a route that lets us cut out a section?
