Hi there, could you please share your feedback on renting a 4x4 for a 21-day self-drive trip in Uganda? Thanks

Hi there,

I used 4x4uganda.com and had no issues—the vehicle was great, and they also arranged the permits for gorillas and chimpanzees.

Hi Olivier,

I’m thinking of renting a 4x4 for our trip. I see you were happy with 4x4Uganda.

A few practical questions: When was your trip? Do they provide at least 1 or even 2 spare tires? A compressor for inflating/deflating?

Thanks so much for your feedback, Pascale

Hello,

I went in June 2021. One tire provided (some models have two). Didn’t get a compressor. But probably available on request? No issues with the tires anyway. We had the Prado with a double roof tent.

Hi, I'm looking for a 4x4 rental company in Uganda, but there are so many with similar names. Also, when I check the addresses on Street View, I only see houses in residential neighborhoods with no cars, and there isn’t even a sign. One rental company asked me to pay everything upfront... So, could you share any tips to definitely identify the rental companies you’ve chosen, especially 4x4uganda.com? Thanks in advance.

With 4x4uganda.com, everything was easy. I only communicated by email, and I only paid a $100 deposit for the car (total price around $1300), via a link they provided (using Visa). I never went to their office. I asked for the car to be delivered to my guesthouse, and they arrived on time. I then paid the rest via a similar link.

I booked my car (4x4 Landcruiser Troopy) with Roadtrip Africa for our trip starting at the end of this year. https://www.roadtripafrica.com/uganda/

The advantage is that you receive your invoice in euros and can pay it in euros to a Dutch bank account via bank transfer, with no extra fees.

They’re super responsive by email. They can also handle booking Gorilla and Chimpanzee permits.

Hi there, We’re planning a trip to Uganda in August. Could you tell me how your experience with your car rental agency went? And overall, did you enjoy the country? I’m starting to get ready (better late than never...😉). Thanks in advance for your reply!
