Mon épouse et moi sommes à la retraite. Nous cherchons la meilleure ville à Cuba, pour y suivre des cours d'espagnol, offrant la possibilité pratique et facile d'échanger quotidiennement en espagnol avec des Cubains. Nous choisirions de préférence une ville de moyenne grandeur.
À cette fin, nous prévoyons y passer deux mois annuellement. Nous ne cherchons pas un endroit pour nous reposer mais un endroit pour apprendre une langue étrangère dans un pays où elle est pratiquée, dans le cas qui nous occupe l'espagnol. Cuba me semble un endroit sécuritaire et agréable pour des étrangers.
une ville sympathique, de bonne taille avec médecin international, en plus proche de la mer, quasi sans touristes ; pour moi le choix est fait, c'est Cienfuegos, une ville un peu plus ''riche'' que les autres, pour des raisons inconnues, pas trop loin de la Havane, proche de Trinidad et de Santa Clara
Si ce n'est pas abuser de votre bonté, pourriez-vous me dire la meilleure façon de se loger et de se nourrirà Cienfuegos, forfait ou autre, (ni la plus chère, ni la moins chère) pour un couple de retraités. Pour simplifier l'opération, bien vouloir me faire connaître (je comprends que ce ne pourra qu'être relativement approximatif), le montant nécessaire à budgéter pour un séjour de deux mois en fonction du type de logement et de la façon de se nourrirr que vous me recommanderez. Je ferai alors des recherches dans cette direction sur le NET.

Je me demandais si l'on pouvait facilement se connecter à Internet à Cuba ... je vois que vous êtes connecté ... est-ce facilement acccessible aux locaux et aux étrangers ?

internet à Cuba c'est toujours problèmatique et couteux, quand à y résider six mois, je crois que les canadiens ont droit à 90 jours mais je peux me tromper.
la vie sera obligatoirement plus chère qu'au Canada, la seule option possible étant d'habiter chez l'habitant.
dans d'autres endroits de l'ile (playas del este) il y a aura des possibilités de condos, en cherchant bien.
un budget typique serait de 40 CUC par jour minimum, sans bouger, en étant installé en casa particular ''longue durée'' avec un tarif dégressif négocié à l'avance
le fait d'avoir une voiture doublerait tout simplement le budget...
il n'y aura pas d'inclusive en ville, hormis Varadero.... donc le tour est vite fait !
Sinon vivre à la Havane, mais c'est totalement différent au quotidien, grande ville, moins relax.
Vous avez réussi à apporter un très bon éclairage sur l'ensemble de l'opération que nous nous préparions à engager. Il va de soi que nous ne cherchons nullement à changer de vie pour une qualité moindre à un coût supérieur, surtout à l'âge où nous sommes rendus. Ce qui, si je vous ai bien compris, serait le cas si nous devions décider de vivre à Cuba 6 mois par année, sans compter qu'il me faudra vérifier si cela est possible règlementairement. Je sais que le Canada permet à ses citoyens un séjour annuel de six mois à l'étranger sans perte d'avantages sociaux ou autres. Si vous dites que les Canadiens ne peuvent résider à Cuba que pour une période de 90 jours ou moins cela voudrait dire que cette restriction est le fait du gouvernement cubain ? Bien vouloir me confirmer que c'est bien le cas, si vous le savez.
Je vais donc étudier d'autres possibilités, dans d'autres pays d'Amérique latine.

Nous allons à Cuba, à Varadero, pour un premier voyage à Cuba, du 21 novembre au 5 décembre. Nous irons visiter La Havane. Nous verrons bien alors ce que cela nous apportera comme connaissance pratique de la vie à Cuba.
Cuba permet aux Canadiens de résider 6 mois à Cuba. Plus précisement, le visa de touriste est valide pour 3 mois mais peut-être renouvelé pour 3 mois supplémentaire. Après, il faut sortir de l'île.

Holguin ? chez les canadiens cela n'a pas le même sens.... voulez vous parler des réserves à touristes du bord de mer, desservies par l'aéroport de Holguin sité à quasiment 100 km ou de la ville, capitale régionale ?

La Havane, bien sur, ville chargée d'histoire mais peut-être plus ''fatiguante'' au quotidien pour des retraités, avec par contre mille opportunités de visite et de formation...
non, finalement, plus j'y pense et plus je choisis Cienfuegos... mais j'ai pas 60 ans.
C'est vrai que Cienfuegos est une fort belle ville et que c'est agréable d'y vivre en comparaison avec d'autres villes cubaines. J'y ai fait 2 séjours de 8 semaines chacun et j'en garde un très bon souvenir. J'étais alors directrice adjointe d'un projet d'échange culturel entre jeunes Québécois et jeunes Cubains.
Moi aussi je vous conseillerais cette ville en premier lieu. Pour le logement, ce que je ferais à votre place c'est louer une casa particular pour commencer, et une fois rendu sur place, vous pourriez peut-être vous informer pour trouver une maison à louer. Il y en a souvent, mais c'est beaucoup plus simple de les dénicher une fois sur place. Cependant, il faut savoir que votre confort (et ici je parle du minimum comme l'eau courante, une toilette digne de ce nom, une douche, électricité sans trop de panne, pas trop de bibittes!!) est probablement plus assuré en casa particular que dans une maison louée... Avez-vous déjà vécu à la Cubaine?? Avant d'envisager y passer quelques mois, il faudrait peut-être aller y passer 2 ou 3 semaines hors des circuits touristiques.
À l'époque il y avait à Cuba le bureau de l'ICAP (institution cubaine pour l'amitié entre les peuples), je pense que si c'est toujours en place, ces gens pourraient proablement vous aider aussi (autant pour le logement que pour les cours). Dans le temps nous on travaillait en étroite collaboration avec eux.
Bref le mieux à mon avis, ce serait d'abord d'aller sur place pour un court séjour (2-3 semaines) afin de tisser des contacts, de voir ce qui serait possible, et surtout vérifier si vous pouvez vous adpater à la «vraie vie cubaine» pendant un long laps de temps. Parce que si vous souhaitez avoir le même confort qu'ici, vous risquez fort d'être déçu.
