Vietnam Exit Ticket

Hi everyone,

I’ve got a one-way ticket to Vietnam. My return flight will be from Malaysia since I’ll be traveling around Southeast Asia overland. To qualify for the 45-day visa-free entry, you need to show an exit ticket from Vietnam. Do you think a bus ticket from Saigon to Phnom Penh would work?

Hi there, Absolutely! You need to prove you’ll leave within 45 days (entry and exit days included). Bus, train, or flight tickets all work—they might ask for it at check-in in Roissy. This happened to us last November: we had a flight to Hanoi and a return from Osaka, and the agent asked for our exit ticket (a flight for us). We’re heading back next month to China, then returning to Vietnam/Thailand/Japan by bus from China to Hanoi, so I bought the tickets online. I emailed the airline at Roissy to double-check, and they confirmed it’s valid and we’ll be asked for it at check-in in CDG.
Cordialement, Patrick.

Awesome. Thanks for sharing your experience, Patrick. I'm leaving from Nairobi with Air Asia. I emailed the airline to make sure they'll let me board with a Vietnam exit bus ticket.
