Hi there,

I’m planning a trip to Argentina where I’ll be arriving at Buenos Aires EZE airport. I’ve seen that there are buses to the city center, but you need a card to board them. Does anyone know the name of the card, and if so, where can I buy it? Thanks, and have a great day!

Hi

You need to take line 8 and have a SUBE card.

Everything is explained on this page about transportation in Buenos Aires

The SUBE card can now be created online, and the process is normally available to foreigners (I haven’t checked, as I’m a resident, but the "Foreign Document" option appears on the site).

You need to download the SUBE app (on Google Play) and create an account.

This digital SUBE works from an Android phone (I think it doesn’t currently work on iPhone—check to be sure). It can be topped up online with a Visa or Mastercard credit card but can’t be reloaded with cash at the usual physical card top-up points.

In the subway, there are "turnstile machines" reserved for digital SUBE users, and it works on all buses in Buenos Aires and Greater Buenos Aires, as well as most trains. More and more provinces are also joining the SUBE system (check the SUBE website for details).

Hi there, I’m not sure if what I’m about to say is still current, since I haven’t been back to Argentina since 2019. But up until then, there were the Tienda Leon shuttles that ran from Ezeiza to the city center (arriving at Retiro), no reservation needed, for a reasonable price, and you could pay in euros or pesos when boarding the bus. Enjoy your stay in Bs As! I’m heading back in February, can’t wait to see how much has changed in six years...
