Juste pour info, il est tres facile de se procurer un visa chinois au laos, de nombreuses agences sans grosses commissions s en chargent dans tout le nord du pays sans rien demander de plus qu une photo et l inevitable formulaire: pas besoin de billet d avion retour, d invitation, etc... en 3/4 jours !
alors c est un visa d un mois simple entree (renouvelable 1 fois sur place) pour 45/65 dollards us selon ta distance postale de vientiane ! tu as trois mois pour entrer dans le pays... nous avons passe la frontiere a pied a Boten, no problemo !
Je viens de faire ma demande de visa à Ventiane, je suis passée par une agence, car je me suis fait refouler à l'ambassade...En effet, on me demandait un billet d'avion A/R, et une réservation d'hôtel...
Je suis donc allée dans une agence qui m'a imprimé de fausse réservation de billet d'avion, et j'ai fait une réservation bidon pour l'hôtel...Le dossier a été déposé avec succès, mais j'attends quand même de récupérer mon passeport avec le visa...
J'ai seulement pu obtenir un visa d'un mois, il semble que les relations avec la Chine ne soit pas encore au beau fixe...
Je voulais rester 2 mois en Chine mais la je suis bloqué...Je sais qu'il est possible de le renouveler sur place mais combien de fois et pour combien de temps ??

a priori tu peux faire renouveller une fois ton visa pour un mois a l imigration chinoise, apres ca faut sortir de chine a hongkong ou macao et faire un nouveau visa... un ami est reste 10 mois en chine comme ca !

Oui je confirme tu peut le renouveler une fois pour te rajouter 1 mois. Je suis actuellement en Chine et j'y suis arrivé depuis le Laos à Boten et dans tous le Laos à partir de Vientiane et jusqu'à la frontière chinoise n'importe quel agence t’obtiens un Visas pour la Chine, Le Vietnam ... Même le jour du nouvel an chinois ils on réussi à fair un visa pour une amie (en payant un peut plus pour la connaissance à l'ambassade) bref tout ce trouve!
Comment se passe le passage à la frontière ??? Nous y serons dans 2 semaines si tout va bien, je dois aller chercher mon passeport demain à l'agence...

J'avais pris le bus depuis Luang Prabang, ils le vendent dans toutes les agences de la ville et même ta guesthouse t'en proposeras pour 400'000 à 430'000 Kips pour te donner un ordre de grandeur (enfin réferé à ce que j'ai négocié, mais avec le nouvel an chinois j'ai eu des soucis). C'est un bus couchette (bon parcontre je me suis retrouvé sur la banquette de 5 du fond et c'était pas top top coté Laos car ca bouge beaucoup). Le bus trace ensuite jusqu'à la frontière (tu arrive vers 16h si je me rapel bien) Puis aucun soucis coté Laos, tu sort juste du bus, tampon sur le passeport (tu peut déjà a la limite préremplir la petite carte de sortie) puis tu remonte dans le bus jusqu'au coté chinois, là tu sort du bus avec ton sac, tous alligné puis un militaire passe la main dans ton sac et te demande d'ouvrir deux trois poches, puis tu rentre dnas le building qui ressemble à un aéroport, là c'est passeport et controle du visas (il m'à quand même regardé pendant 5 minutes en tournant mon passeport dans tous les sens, mais ca ce passe bien, puis je crois que de toute facon il ne parlait pas anglais pour te poser des questions. tu as un petit coin avec 2-3 commerce (Détaxé?) puis deux trois femmes qui te change de l'argent à un taux pourri (mais te permet d'avoir 50 Yuan pour t'acheter un truc à grignoter avant la nuit, et payer le bus public une fois à Kunming (1 ou 2 yuann en général mais faut avoir l'appoint) pendant ce temps le bus est passé, puis tu remonte dedans, une heure de pause à Boten puis c'est parti pour la nuit (avec une autre pause vers 21h je ne sais où) et Kunming vers 5h30 du matin. Du coup c'était trop tot donc j'ai dormi jusqu'à 7h30 dans le bus (jusqu'à me faire virer par le chauffeur) mais les chinois le font aussi. Puis si tu veut une bonne adresse à Kunming, va au Cloudland Hotel, une auberge de jeunesse vraiment sympa (j'y ai passé 3 semaines vu que j'avais des cours de chinois) et avec la carte des auberges de jeunesses (50Y) tu économise 5Y par nuit (dans toutes les auberges de jeunesses de chine) ce qui revient à 30Y la nuit en dortoir de 8, et le personnel est extra! Il faut prendre le bus 64 depuis la gare routière du sud. N'hesite pas à demander si tu veut plus d'infos sur Kunming ou LpB ou sur la frontière. Et bon voyage!
Sinon pour les photos je t'ai mis le bus, la frontière coté Laos puis Chine et les cascades que je te recommande près de Luang Prabang!

Je crois meme que tu peux renouveler deux fois ton visa...ce qui te donne trois mois au total. Essaye de le faire dans une "petite" ville si tu veux eviter 5 longs jours d'attente (genre Leshan au Sichuan..)
J ai egalement passe la frontiere a velo il y a moins de 15 jours et effectivement c'est tres facile, le douanier parlait deux ou trois mots de francais...
Si vous avez le temps de vous arreter avant Kunming, Jinghong (et surtout la region autour parce que la ville c est pas trop ca...) est une bonne base! Un gros melange de population, birmans, lao, thai, tribus.

petite question pratique par rapport au message de GROUIK: C'est plutôt rassurant que dans le nord du laos ils (des agences?) te facilitent le boulot et qu'au final il ne soit pas demandé de billet aller retour, mais qu'en est-il quand tu veux renouveler le visa une fois en chine? J'imagine qu'ils sont moins arrangeants et qu'ils te demandent de fournir le billet aller retour?
Quant aux expériences de visa chinois par les agences laotienne (dont parle DUDUCHE85) qui te font de fausses réservations de vol, elles te filent le document (faux vol) qui peut te reservir pour le renouvellement du visa chinois j'imagine?

Je peux t'aider un peu je suis (toujours) sur place en ce moment, et le nez (ou plutot les deux roues de mon velo) en plein dans les demandes d'extension, du moins la premiere.
Donc, pour un renouvellement de visa, comme d'autres l'ont deja dit, essaye de le faire dans une petite ville. Sur ta route tu as Dali (3 jours d'attente je crois, mais il faut aller a Xiancheng, le "new Dali"), lijiang, 2 jours, Shangri la, moins d'une journee...Dans tous les cas, en general, on te demande "7 days left" sur ton visa en cours et normalement (a shangri la c est le cas), ton extension commence le jour ou prend fin ton visa, pour un mois. Pas de billet d'avion demande dans ces 3 villes, une photo, demande d'enregistrement dans un hotel gouvernemental (guesthouse..) et photocopies de ton passeport+visa, that s it! En ce moment a shangri la c est la galere, coupure de jus 20h/24h pendant au moins 10 jours, ils refont le systeme electrique de la ville...
Les agences ne te donneront pas le "faux" billet d'avion, parfois je me demande meme si certaines agences le font, apres tout il peut juste s'agir de connection et le fait de demander ces papiers pour le visa est peut etre aussi une simple combine pour faire marcher le business des agences touristiques. J'ai du mal a croire que les consulats chinois soit si dupes..
Normalement, tu peux faire une seconde extension de visa (j insiste la dessus parce que je ne le vois nul part sur les posts recents), OUI, c est possible mais parfois un releve de compte est demande, et peut etre meme un billet d avion (facile de faire une resa et de l annuler..).
Pour des infos recentes va voir le forum du lonely planet "Thorn threads", il y a pas mal de pages consacrees aux extensions et c est regulierement reactualise!
Pour ta route jusqu en Inde, tu devras avoir un permis pour rentrer au Tibet, que tu pourras faire a partir de Dali, lijiang, shangri la..Kunming a la rigueur. Tu peux toujours essayer la solution en stop et cache dans un camion mais j ai croise quelques personnes dernierement qui ont ete chopes sans permis et renvoyer a la case depart.. La portion de route Lhassa Kathmandou ne requiert pas de permis mais je ne pense pas que tu puisses descendre du bus et faire ta vie dans les villages que tu traverseras.

Obtenu aujourd hui mon extension de visa a shangri la, en une heure, 30 jours a partir d aujourd hui et non a partir de la fin de mon visa actuel..je perds donc 8 jours..:(
Pour les permis du Tibet, c'est ok en Avril, ca ne l'etait pas le mois dernier..
Il n'est plus possible d'obtenir un visa chinois depuis le LAOS, les regles ont changes depuis le 15 avril 2011... (juste pour les francais...)

Plus aucune agence n'accepte les francais, on les a toutes faites, sans succes.
Le seul moyen est de passer par l'ambassade de chine a ventiane, mais attention les documents qu'ils demandent :
- Billet d'avion aller/retour
- resa d'hotels
- Justificatif de travail/chomage(assedic) (il le faut traduit en anglais sinon refuse...) (issued by the work unit, including applicant name title, proof of travel time in foreign countries)
- Photocopie de la carte d'identite francaise
- sécurité économique personnelle: le livre comme une copie de titres à revenu fixe (salaire, permis d'agent immobilier, permis de conduire véhicule) (Pas trop compris a quoi ca correspond. Voici l'intitule precis de l'ambassade:
" personal economic security: the book as a copy of fixed income ( wages, real estate license, vehicule driving license )")
- Assurance medicale/voyage ("Consistent with the residence time in china, including medical and insurance amount for some reason was taken back to thirty thousands euros a person outside the health insurance abroad")

C'est vraiment n'importe quoi, nous avons eu notre visa au Laos, il y a moins d'un mois, et nous venons de renouveler notre visa à Shangri la en à peine une heure...La bureaucratie change tellement vite, et est parfois tellement ridicule...

Je suis actuellement en Thailande, mais avant j'étais au Laos.
J'ai rencontré une vieille dame où je suis qui amerait se rendre au Laos pour faire un visa chinois. Nous sommes actuellement dans le nord de la thailande, et j'imagine qu'elle aimerait se deplacer au minimum vu son age (74 ans). J'avais cru voir en effet des agences pour touristes qui proposaient de faire les visa chinois. Connaissez vous la ville la plus proche de la frontiere de la thailande qui propose ce genre de service ?
Etant impossible maintenant de faire le visa chinois au Laos (Attention!! seulement pour les francais), nous sommes revenu a Bangkok. De la, en passant par une agence, il n'y a pas eu de problemes.
Concernant les autres villes de thailande, je ne sais pas du tout. A moins qu'ils envoient le passeport a l'ambassade de chine a bangkok, je ne vois pas comment ca peut etre possible.
A bangkok, devant l'ambassade, un type vous proposera de vous le faire, ne vous inquietez il vous trouvera. Aucuns soucis il est sur(nous sommes passes par lui (2750 baths le visa)).
Sinon essayez des agences de Khao San (environs 2100 baths le visa) mais pas essayes.
en fait je me suis mal exprimer, elle va devoir passer par le Laos et elle me demander quelle est la ville la plus au nord où il est possible de faire une demande de visa

juste une petite info qui peut eviter des deplacements inutiles, j'ai obtenu un visa chinois a Vientiane en deposant mon passeport le 30 mai et en le recuperant le 31 mai (hier). Je suis passé pas une agence et ils ne m ont demandé que 2 photos et une reservation d'hotel (juste 2 nuits).

En fait je ne trouve que la GH Saysouly et pas de Saysouly 2... Je pense donc que c'est bien celle où je suis allée tout à l'heure: réponse négative...
J ai regardé sur internet et il me semble que l adresse de Saysouly soit la même. Le bâtiment est quelques mètres en retrait par rapport a la rue. Mais je suis sur que le panneau indique Saysouly 2. Quand j y était y avait 2 réceptionnistes un jeune et l autre moins. C est au plus âgé qu il faut t adresser, normalement il est la dans la journée, pas avant 10-11h. Au bout de la rue y a le boulevard qui longe le mékong et un bar( genre occidental) qui fait l angle, chaise haute et musique le soir. Bon courage.
J'ai bien trouvé la GH dont tu parlais, malheureusement un coup de fil plus tard, il m'a dit que c'était impossible et qu'il fallait que je me rende directement à l’ambassade.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’ve tried my hotel, the Lotte Hotel (which is well-known in Seoul), the airport—basically, I’ve entered at least 20 addresses, all rejected....

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

We need to apply for a B2 visa because we visited Iran in 2018. It currently costs $185, but they’re planning an additional $250 fee per person for the same visa—it’s been approved but not yet implemented. Does anyone know when this fee will take effect?

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.
Has anyone here been in this situation recently?
Did the airline ask for an exit ticket before boarding?
Did Chinese authorities require proof upon arrival?
Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?
Is a cancelable or flexible reservation accepted?

Just a question that’s probably been asked before (though usually the other way around for my situation :))
My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I’m spending a few days in San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) and would like to cross the Argentine border to make a loop toward Salta and then return to Chile to drop off the rental car.
I’ve heard that crossing the border can be tricky!
Is it possible with a rental company’s authorization? Which company, and at what cost?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
