Votre itineraire est correct, MAIS votre jour 9 et surtout votre jour 13 sont irrealistes...
les 2h55 pour faire SF à Yosemite et les 45 mns pour faire Yosemite à Lee vining sont jusqu'aux entrées ouest et est du parc. Il y a tout l'interieur du parc qui n'est pas compté, et Yosemite c'est grand...
En 15 jours (j'enleve le jour d'arrivée et le jour de départ) difficile de faire un tel circuit dans l'ouest, où les distances sont quand même tres grandes.
Vs dites au depart 2 à 3 semaines : vs pouvez en rajouter un peu???
Autrement, vs aborderez simplement YOSEMITE, sans faire de randos.
Concernant les Parcs, je ne compte pas faire de grandes randonnées, les visites basiques (si cela existe!) me conviennent. Je pense ne pas m'être assez renseignée sur les visites possibles concernant les parcs, cela reste très flou pour moi ..
Le trajet entre le GC est long 7 à 8h d'autoroute, et n'a pas grand interet.
C'est pourquoi beaucoup vs conseilleront un depart de PHOENIX ou LAS VEGAS.
KINGMAN peut faire une etape à mi chemin du GC et LA pour déjeuner. A part cà...
LAUGHLIN n'a absolument aucun interet, et comme c'est une etape obligée des voyagistes dans less voyages organisés, herisse profondement tous les individualistes de ce forum
Bravo pour les distances et les temps de route apparents, ce n'est pas si fréquent ! 🙂
ça me paraît pas mal comme circuit,
effectivement pour le J13 autant traverser Zion (en s'arrêtant à quelques points de vue, comme l'Overlook à la sortie du tunnel : attention ça surprend, il faut avoir le réflexe de s'arrêter au petit parking, même si il est plein, le turn-over est rapide)
et dormir à Bryce pour un beau sunset et le lendemain matin un beau sunrise + rando à la fraîche ! 😎
Kingman ou Laughlin ne valent pas le détour?

Je n'ai jamais eu besoin de guides ni savaient si ça existait . Dans les visitors center à l'entrée des parcs , j'ai toujours eu les informations nécessaires et cartes pour mes besoins.
Et tout se trouve avec google de toute façon ou sur Trip Advisor .

Je ferai donc attention à ne pas faire LV en weekend! Et la pertinence de faire la côte Nord/Sud plutôt que Sud/Nord je n'y aurai jamais pensé (et pour le coup c'était évident que dans ce sens c'est le bon côté de la route pour une meilleure vue 😕 ).
Une location de voiture indispensable pour LA et SF ou les visites en bus à la journée ou 48h/72h peuvent faire l'affaire ?

Voiture conseillée à San Francisco si on n'y reste que deux ou trois jours pour ne pas faire que le "centre ville"
SF , les transports en commun insuffisant ou plutôt non adapté pour tout visiter ?
Il est évident qu'on ne peut pas aller de partout avec juste les transports en commun, un seul exemple: Conzelman Rd.
Et il est certain qu'on mettra plus de temps en transport en commun pour aller d'un point A à un point B... Donc il faut du temps si on veut visiter SF en transport en commun.
Idem pour LA en encore plus poussé. Si on y va par là, c'est aussi possible en transports en commun, certains l'ont fait. Mais il faut y passer au moins une semaine complète ... Et on y verra ce qu'on peut voir en 3 jours en voiture.

C'est qu'il n'y a pas des bus pour aller partout, mais c'est aussi surtout une question de temps.
SF (qui fait +/- 12km/15km) sans voiture, si on y reste au moins 1 semaine, pourquoi pas, si on aime se balader ds des villes plutôt que ds les parcs.
LA (qui fait +/- 30km/50km pour sa partie la + visitée) sans voiture, si on y reste au moins 2 semaines, c'est aussi possible (certains ont déjà fait part de cette expérience en transports en commun, dont un carnet très bien fait ds un forum concurrent)
Donc, tout est possible.
C'est juste que pour donner un conseil utile, il faut s'adapter à ce que la personne demande: en l’occurrence, on parle d'une durée de 48-72 h; et donc sur ce laps de temps, les personnes qui conseillent le "sans voiture" devraient aussi avoir la franchise de prévenir qu'il sera alors impossible de voir SF ds son entièreté, qu'il faudra se contenter des quartiers où se concentrent la plupart des touristes 🤪, qu'il sera très difficile de se rendre à certains overlooks (surtout aux moments propices que sont les début et fin de journées), et rappeler que SF est construit sur des collines, que les rues sont souvent très pentues et que les balades en dehors du cente-ville (plat) sont assez fatigantes

ça, c'est justement qq ch qui est régulièrement dit et redit, ici, et ds les autres rubriques (du moins celles que je lis), et qu'il faut malheureusement faire des choix qd on établit son itinéraire.
Mais les esprits positifs disent que ça permet aussi de retourner plusieurs fois ds un même pays sans voir nécessairement les mêmes régions😉

Ce n'est pas une raison pour m'accuser de ne pas avoir la franchise d'écrire qu'on ne pourras pas tout voir SF en deux jours de marche . Personne ne veut tout voir à SF ni ailleurs. On choisis selon nos goûts et l'horaire.

Vous avez sous estime vos temps de parcourt.
Pour votre trajet de los Angeles a San Francisco vous serez le long de la cote du Pacific et beaucoup d'endroits sont a 35, 45 et jamais plus de 55 miles a l'heure.
Pour San Francisco Yosemite (Village) comptez 4:30 .
Et je pense que tous vos autres trajets doivent aussi etre revises a la hausse.
Presque tous vos trajets seront sur des routes ou la vitesse est limite et une bonne parti sera dans les montagnes.
Si vous n'etes jamais venue aux USA, la conduite ici est plus relax qu'elle l'est en France, mais les regles sont aussi appliquees plus strictement par la police.

Pour les reserves indiennes, ca reste quand même assez glauque.
La route 66 : c'est un mythe, comme pour ns la nationale 7 : c'est une route danns le desert en Californie.
Contentez vs d'en prendre pleins les yeux des paysages, des villes, des attractions, etc
Je pense que tout voyage est le reflet des attentes et envies de chacun, pour ma part je souhaite découvrir la côte Ouest des USA (qui reste synonyme de *rêve*) et y voir une multitude de chose plus originale, typique et atypique.
Tels que les restaurant ambiance 50s/70s afin de faire un bon temps le temps, les villes fantômes, le côté FarWest ou Indien qui nous rappellent la ruée vers l'or. J'y vais notamment pour faire un reportage photo et souhaite prendre un maximum de cliché pour mes souvenirs mais pour faire revivre mon voyage à mon entourage.
Même si je ne doute pas que les grandes villes ou les parcs m'en mettrons pleins la vue, j'ai envie de voir de choses *insolites* qui enrichiront mes souvenirs ..
Après consultation de divers sites/forums, de conseil/avis/suggestion de voyageur, et achat du Guide du Routard LES PARCS NATIONAUX DE L'OUEST et du guide de l'ESSENTIEL DE LA CALIFORNIE .. Voici mon circuit modifié (et en constante modification d'ailleurs 🤪 )

Le vol interne LA-Vegas ne se justifie guère car il ne vs fera guère gagner du temps. Il n'y a que 4h30 de route. Pensez que si vs prenez l'avion, il faut arriver à l'aéroport à l'avance, + rendre la voiture + le temps de vol.
A Vegas, la voiture et aussi bien utile pour gagner du temps et épargner ses pieds.
Et puis, il est préférable d'éviter de faire Vegas-Death Valley en A-R (le trajet est mortellement ennuyeux et soporifique).
Pour ttes ces raisons, il est préférable de faire :
J+8 LA - Lone Pine (Alabama Hills) - Death Valley, visite en fin d'aprèm. Et nuit à Death Valley
J+9 Death Valley (visite le matin > 11h) - Rte > Vegas
J+10 Las Vegas
J+11 Las Vegas / Zion / Bryce Canyon

Si tes billets ne sont pas encore pris (d'après ce que j'ai lu), pourquoi revenir à SF (vol interne que tu vas payer) pour repartir à Paris ? Autant repartir de Las Vegas. Le seul coût supplémentaire (pour l'avion c'est du kif si tu n'oublies pas de cocher vol multidestination) c'est éventuellement les frais de one way pour la voiture (dépend des loueurs et des états) et peut être compensé par le prix de ton vol interne annulé.

Ah !!!! Premiere nouvelle.....( hier j etais avec mes potes cow boy dans leur ranch et ils marquaient les veaux de l annee au fer rouge exactement comme dans le temps ) le temps des cowboys est toujours d actualite dans l /Ouest , par exemple entre autres , ici c est le pays des hauts plateaux battus par les vents , ranchs immenses que seuls les cowboys font tourner....
Quand a Bodie c'est une ville reconstruite en musee de A a Z ....

Je vais regarder les vols pour Aller Paris-SF et Retour LV-Paris .. En espérant que ça reste dans des prix raisonnables!
De fait, faire le vol retour depuis Las Vegas serait bcp mieux (et normalement, en cochant la case adéquate "multidestination", ça ne doit guère coûter + cher)
Et ds ce cas, je vs suggère de reporter votre halte à Las Vegas en fin de parcours, et de faire ceci:

Effectivement, c'est possible de prendre un billet avion multi-destination avec un montant de 100 euros supérieur en moyenne (j'ai regardé que très rapidement les offres).

Nowadays, all rental cars come with GPS, but do you know if you can use it without paying for the GPS rental? I have no idea since I always use my own!

We’ll adapt day by day based on our mental and physical state (we’re not exactly spring chickens).
After our first trip as a young couple to the West in 2007 (yes, that doesn’t make us any younger!), we’re planning to go back in 2028, but this time as a family of four! (We have two boys who’ll be 5½ and 13 years old in the summer of 2028.)
Our plan is to combine a few big cities (SF and LA, maybe San Diego) with national parks and state parks, mostly!
Ideally, we’d like to leave at the end of June and head back to France around July 19–20, so we can enjoy the first week of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
Since we already did the "loop" in 2007, there are must-see places we absolutely want to revisit—and especially share with our kids: Bryce Canyon, Yosemite, and above all, the Grand Canyon, which is still the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen on Earth!
On the other hand, some places didn’t leave a big impression on us for various reasons, so we’re not making them a priority: Antelope Canyon, Monument Valley, for example.
We’re planning ahead, but might as well be smart about it😏
Do you have any tips for a fun and doable itinerary over about 20–25 days with kids, without rushing?
We went as a family to Mount Rushmore in 2023, where my son bought a multi-function pocket knife like the one below with his name engraved—'NOAH'.
Unfortunately, he just lost it, and he was really attached to it. So, if there’s a kind soul passing by Mount Rushmore who could bring one back for me (I’d obviously cover all costs), that would be amazing for my son.

Hello everyone! Really damaged due to flooding caused by runoff after forest fires (a total mess!), does anyone in this friendly forum have any updates on the Apache Trail between Apache Junction and Roosevelt Dam? Is there still a section of the road that’s tough to navigate?
We're leaving at the end of June and will be driving the route between Buffalo and Cody. We’ve already booked our accommodations and a rodeo in Cody, but during the day, we’ll be driving between the two and I’m unsure about the itinerary.
Which route do you think is the most pleasant, interesting, or scenic between:
- The northern route via Highway 14 with Sheridan, Lowell, etc.
- The southern route with Highways 16/20/14, passing by Loaf Mountain Overlook, Powder River Pass, Ten Sleep Canyon...
We’ll be in a car, so we should be able to drive on any road.

I’m almost done planning our September road trip. After our 3-night visit to Sequoia, we’ll have a stopover night in Coalinga (to break up the drive). We’ll be staying two nights in Monterey and would like to stop along the way to visit one side of Pinnacles National Park. We’re torn between the West entrance and the East entrance, and we’d like to do a short hike of no more than 2 hours since we don’t want to arrive too late in Monterey.
This park is split into two distinct zones with no connection between them, and the mileage from Coalinga to Monterey is pretty much the same for both. Which area do you recommend visiting—east or west? And which route is the most scenic?
I’ve spotted two short hikes:
- East: Moses Spring to Rim Trail Loop
- West: Balconies Cliffs Cave Loop
Has anyone been there, or do you have another hike to suggest?

Just a quick question about King Canyon and Sequoia National Park.
Before our night in Miramonte, we plan to visit King Canyon. The next stop will be two nights in Three Rivers to explore Sequoia National Park. I wanted to go all the way to Roaring River Falls on the King Canyon Scenic Byway and then turn back to head to Miramonte. Since we’re coming from Oakhurst, Google Maps says it’s 300 km and 5 hours of driving. Since we also want to hike to see the sequoias (Big Stump Area and Grand Grove) before tackling the King Canyon Scenic Byway, the timing’s going to be tight. How far do you recommend going before turning back to miss as few points of interest as possible on the King Canyon Scenic Byway? Thanks for your advice, and have a great evening!

We’ll be alternating between house swaps, motels, and campgrounds. I’ve booked all the accommodations (except the campground at Bryce since sunset bookings open only 14 days in advance) and the first activities, as well as the most touristy ones.

I’d like to travel along I-15N from San Diego to Las Vegas with my mom, who’s 67. We’ve explored Northern California and the California Coast over the past two years and now want to continue through the desert.
There are several attractions along the way:
- Mormon Rocks
- Desert Discovery Center and visit the Old Woman meteorite
- Joshua Tree National Park
- Mojave Desert
- Mojave National Preserve
- Anza-Borrego Desert State Park
- Silverwood Lake
My mom has back issues that prevent her from hiking or walking on trails with elevation changes. Is it possible to visit these places by car, or are the routes flat enough?
I’d love for her to experience the desert with an itinerary adapted to her condition. I’m also open to other points of interest that aren’t mentioned. We have 3-4 days for the trip, so we’re not in a rush—just want to explore.
I’d love to take a road trip and visit Nova Scotia. I’d appreciate some info on the best cities to see and the most interesting spots. The trip should last about 10 to 15 days, staying in hotels or motels. Thanks in advance!

Is it pretty easy to navigate Detroit Airport to catch the connecting flight to Grand Rapids (domestic flight)? There are several of them who speak English well.

We’d like to walk to Eagle Falls and then Eagle Lake. I’ve spotted two parking lots that seem close to each other and give access to the trailhead. Where and how do we pay for entry to Emerald Bay State Park and Inspiration Point?
**Viewpoints on the East Side:**
Are most of the viewpoints (Balancing Rock, Granite Cave, Bonsai Rock, etc.) right by the road, or do you have to hike to reach them?
**Donner Memorial State Park:**
Is it worth making a detour to Truckee to visit this park and the Truckee historic downtown?

I’m a total USA addict. I’ve already done several road trips, including the East Coast and West Coast.
I’m here today because I’m planning to go back for another road trip on the West Coast. Possibly with one of my sisters and a couple of friends. It’s still just a plan for now, but I’m working on an itinerary in the meantime. Ideally, I’d leave in 2026, but I don’t have the exact dates yet—maybe April-May or September-October.
My last trip to the West Coast was in September 2014. We went for 2 weeks, but this time it’d be 3 weeks. What made me want to go back was simply a colleague who just left today. As I’m writing this, he’s on the plane. I’m so happy for him, but now all I can think about is going back.
Since I recently went to NY, I noticed that prices have really gone up. I assume the same is true for the West Coast? For 2 people over 3 weeks, what budget should I expect? We’re the type to watch our spending and find great tips.
I think we’ll arrive in San Francisco like the first time and leave from either Los Angeles or Las Vegas.

Travelers to the United States | Photo Now Mandatory Upon Entry and Exit | La Presse
I assume many of you already know, but the America the Beautiful annual pass, which was $80, will increase to $250 starting January 1, 2026.
So if you're planning to travel before the end of December 2026, it's in your best interest to buy your pass in December 2025, since it will still cost $80 and be valid until the end of December 2026 if you purchase it in December 2025.
This price increase only applies to non-U.S. residents.
Additionally, for those who planned to visit just one park, a $100 surcharge per person will apply to access a list of 11 national parks...
For example, if there are 4 of you in a car, you’ll have to pay $35 + $400,
which comes to $435 to visit one of the 11 parks on the list (I don’t have all of them... Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Grand Teton, etc.).
Total madness.
The goal is to push people who only visit one park into buying the annual pass.
Last point: free entry days are over for non-residents!
