Je suis professeur de français en métropole.J'envisage une mutation sur Mayotte.J'ai lu de nombreux blogs et forums sur le sujet.Mais je voudrais savoir surtout comment sont les élèves dans les collèges.Sont ils toujours "calmes gentils et respectueux" ou leur comportement change t-il ? Je ne parviens pas à savoir cela. En effet , si je ne m'imagine pas que tout est facile à Mayotte, je souhaiterais au moins avoir affaire à des élèves plus agréables que ceux d'ici(où la situation n'est pas bonne).Par ailleurs compte tenu des suppressions de postes, je me demande aussi si les effectifs ont augmenté dans les classes??
Et enfin quelles sont les régions, où il est le plus agréable de travailler, toujours par rapport aux élèves .Ce point me parait important car les conditions de travail sont importantes pour une bonne adaptation.Merci aux enseignants qui voudront bien me renseigner sur ce qui se passe "entre les murs"??

Je travaille actuellement au collège de Passamainty, voilà la situation là bas et un peu partout dans l'île suivant ce que j'ai pu entendre.
Alors les élèves malheureusement se rapprochent assez de ceux de métropole pour le comportement (je travaillais à Toulon dans un collège très hétérogène). Le respect est peut être un peu meilleur qu'en métropôle mais de peu.
Le niveau est plus que minimum ici, les élèves ne travaillent pas et ont une compréhension de français vraiment très très limitée.
Les classes sont à 30 en collège, en effet tous les collèges et lycées de l'île sont en sureffectif. En exemple, Passamainty accueille 1600 élèves alors qu'il est prévu pour 800...
Les horaires sont 7h00 le matin - 12h30 puis 13h30 - 16h30. Il n'y a pas de cantine sauf dans les lycées. Beaucoup de collèges sont ouvert le mercredi et le samedi matin.
L'enseignement du français se rapproche assez d'un enseignement FLS.
Sinon as-tu également vu la situation de vie actuelle à Mayotte ? Même si elle n'est que transitoire elle laissera surement de grosse trace sur les réactions de nos élèves en classe.
Les coins les plus sympas... difficile à dire. Le centre est bien. Le Nord aussi mais la vie y est plus sommaire. Le Sud apparemment a bonne réputation. Éviter Mamoudzou et alentours c'est là où les élèves y sont le plus difficile.

Je ne suis pas venu seul mais avec ma femme. Nous ne connaissions personne sur place mais ici on fait très vite connaissance si on est un tant soit peu sociable.
Pour être honnête, ce que nous avons vu de Mayotte avant la crise nous a bien plu, bon maintenant avec les évènements c'est nettement moins cool faut bien le dire. Dans l'ensemble, si on exclu donc ce qui se passe actuellement, oui nous sommes plutot satisfait de notre choix.
Cependant je déconseille de venir seule ou seul à Mayotte car malheureusement l'insécurité est en constante augmentation. Toutes fois, en trouvant un logement dans un quartier SIM, une personne seule trouve très vite des gens pour bouger. Il faudra cependant oublier les longues journées seule sur une plage déserte car les risques sont réels même si Mayotte n'est tout de même pas un coupe gorge il faut bien le dire.

es-tu toujours sur Mayotte car j'aimerais venir y enseigner. Je suis Directeur d'école et mon épouse ne travaille pas. Peux-tu me décrire un peu les conditions de vie qui parait-il ne sont pas faciles, mais entre ce que l'on entend et ce qui est vraiment, il y a quelquefois un gouffre, je compte sur ton objectivité. Peux-tu me conseiller un coin en particulier afin de profiter à fond des bons côtés, de se faire des amis, d'avoir une connexion internet pour garder le contact avec nos grands-enfants et enfin pour que mon épouse puisse trouver un petite job.

Tout d'abord excuse moi de ne pas avoir répondu plus tot. Et oui j'habite toujours à Mayotte, à Combani pour être plus précis.
D'abord je ne sais pas si l'éducation nationale recrute des directeurs d'école. Cela change tous les ans mais il faut être conscient que les conditions d'enseignement dans le primaire sont très difficiles partout sur l'île. Les écoles sont peu, voir pas dotées (certaines maternelles n'ont ni chaise ni table et ce ne sont pas des rumeurs). Le matériel scolaire chez les enfants et les moyens des écoles sont quasi inexistant. Les conditions de travail y sont difficiles. Classes bondées au maximum, deux classe pour une même salle : première classe le matin de 7h à 12h non stop (ou presque) et la seconde 13h 18h. Ca non plus ce n'est pas une rumeur, j'ai un amis qui travaille à Combani et qui rentre en France au bout de 2 ans. Quand aux élèves ça dépend des classes mais le respect du maitre s’amenuise d'année en année. Enfin pour terminer, beaucoup d'élèves ne parlent pas français en arrivant au CP.
Pour la vie à proprement dit dans l'île. Même si les conflits sociaux se poursuivent, la tension est considérablement retombée depuis décembre mais les 45 jours de grève contre la vie chère ont quand même laissé des marques. Il faut ainsi oublié les plages isolées à deux. Ce n'est pas un coupe gorge mais les risques de braquage violent sont bien réels. La journée dans les villes ou les chemin de rando les risques ne sont pas plus grands qu'en métropole.
Pour vivre ma femme et moi avons choisi le centre. Zone assez tranquille, nous ne sommes pas en bord de mer (10 minutes de voiture) mais nous disposons de magasin correctement fourni et d'un accès à la capitale simple. Le Sud est calme aussi et se développe doucement. Les plages y sont les plus belles et les plus nombreuses. Le Nord est plus sauvage, moins de plages (beaucoup moins) et des gens qui sont restés plus autentiques. Des élèves moins difficile aussi parrait-il. Mamoudzou et alentours, là je ne suis pas objectif car je n'aime pas les villes en générale mais franchement je n'habiterai mamoudzou pour rien au monde et les alentours encore moins. C'est sale, surpeuplé. C'est cependant là que l'on trouve tous les commerces et services de pointe de l'île.
Enfin Petite Terre est la seconde ile. Là ce n'est plus la même chose du tout. Densément peuplé mais propre. C'est l'image que l'on se fait le plus d'un département français. Le reste de l'ile donnant plus l'impression d'être en Afrique qu'en France (je n'entends rien de péjoratif là dessus, c'est juste l'impression que ça donne). Une barge relie Petite Terre à Grande Terre mais elle demeure très cher sitot que l'on veut prendre sa voiture (15€ l'aller retour).

After living for many years in the West (Belgium, Italy, Switzerland),
I’ve decided to return and settle in Cameroon, my home country.
