quelle moto avez vous réservé et chez qui ?
je te redonne l'equipement de base à avoir selon moi : casque léger ( l'integral est du à supporter) gants légers aussi + 1 paire de rechange plus épais blouson moto été tenue de pluie facile à mettre bottes motos (les santiag sont parfaites et dans le style !) araignée pour accrocher un blouson par exemple sur le top case sac pour le top case . cela evites de tout sortir en vrac des poches plastique pour plier les affaires dans les sacoches (pas étanches en général) une polaire pour eventuellement un jour à 2500 ou 3000 métres (ex bryce ou yosemite ) fringues : le mini, de toute maniere, il faut laver en route et puis tu auras l'occasion d'acheter des TS .
en plus les américains ne s'habillent vraiment pas : jeans, chemises, TS .... adaptateur de prise electrique

Par contre au niveau du casque on n'a qu'un intégral...faut-il en acheter un avt de partir, ou est-ce qu'ils en louent, ou vaut-il mieux acheter là-bas car moins cher?????🤪
Le coup de la polaire et de la tenue de pluie on avait zappé!! on n'a pas l'habitude de se faire des périples comme ça en moto!😊

le probléme avec l'integral, c'est la chaleur .
effectivement sur place, ils te pretent des bols ultralégers . perso, pour l'hygiéne, je ne prends pas .
pour acheter sur place, c'est vraiment pas cher, casques ultralégers mais la sécurité ?????
mais attention, bcp d'agences de location n'ont pas de magasins de vente . ex : san francisco ou houston . à contrario, à chicago, la concession HD est attenante .
pour le reste, eh oui meme aux us il arrive de pleuvoir ! et pour le froid, peu de risques, mais il faut penser que tu seras souvent au dessus de 1800 metres d'altitude jusqu'à 2800 metres .

J'ai déjà lu, sur ce forum, que certaines agences ne permettaient pas de rouler dans la death valley avec leurs motos... Comme je voyage avec ma propre moto, je n'ai pas de problème. Il faisait 52 degrés quand je suis passé par la death valley en septembre 2006, On ne peut pas rouler sous cette chaleur.
Allume le four au max, places y un ventilateur et mets toi devant. Tu auras une idée à quoi ça ressemble.
Prévoir passer tôt le matin ou à la fin de la journée.
À ne pas manquer : Artist Drive et Zabriski point (lever ou coucher du soleil)
Lors du même voyage, toujours en septembre, il y avait des plaques de neige sur les côtés de la route à notre arrivée au south rim du grand canyon. Il avait neigé durant la nuit. Des vêtements chauds sont de mise aussi !
Perso, je voyage avec ce que j'ai sur le dos et un change complet., en plus des indispensables lorsqu'on fait de la moto. Veste (imperméable) avec doublure amovible, gants, lunettes, pantalons de pluie, bottes de pluie.
J'ai toujours aussi une chemise jeans à manches longues que j'utilise soit seule, soit avec la doublure de la veste quand le temps est plus frais le soir.
Enfin, un maillot de bain qui sert aussi de pantalons courts.
Personne ne s'en offusquera.
nous revenons d'un voyage aux etats unis cote ouest ( 18 jours) et nous avions une ELECTRA GLIDE ULTRA CLASSIC super moto pour voyager a 2 avec armes et bagages, pour les casques eaglerider prete des "gamelles " simple, facile, on mettait un foulard sur les cheveux. Pour les chaussures nous sommes partis avec des chaussures de randonnées de chez DECATHLON sans leur faire de pub elle tienne bien le pied et passe partout, petite chaussure le soir pour détendre.

Suis a mon troisieme periple au USA notamment l ouest et je viens terminer les Rocheuses il y a 1 semaine. L electra glide est TOP pour le confort, en general ce genre de voyage sur 3 semaines, tu va faire entre 5 et 6000 kms il faut donc pour le passager le TOP. par contre attention a ce que tu as l habitude de conduire en France, cette moto est lourde en inertie, + les bagages ... Eagle Rider est un bon loueur mais les services sont differents d une ville a l autre. Cette annee DENVER : formidable : moto neuve, porte bagage, carenage jambier etc ... l annee derniere San Francisco moto en bon etat mais pas autant d accessoires, un peu abime sur les chromes, pas de porte bagage, celui ci est vachement pratique pour les combinaisons de pluie notamment, sinon tu enleves le tapis au fond du top case tu le poses au dessus de celui ci et tu mets un filet, attention de ne pas rayer le top tu laisses 2000 dollards de caution au depart !
Attention en aout effectivement Eagle rider ne voulait pas de traversee de la Vallee de la mort en septembre je pense qu il n y a pas de probleme, j'ai du signer une decharge.
ne pas oublier une ou deux sacoches refrigeree pour les bouteilles d eau, un colyre gel pour rehumecter les yeux si grande chaleur, protection solaire surtout pour le pif (reflexion avec les lunettes !) beurre de cacao, adaptateur prise (1 ou 2 si telephone, camescope et appareil numerique a voir) globalement au niveau rangement le top case arriere c est les vetements sauf combinaisons pluie, en 2 sacs : monsieur madame, et trousse de toilette commune puis linge sale ensuite qui prend + de place . une sacoche laterale "technique" : appareil photo, camescope, tous les chargeurs, petit outillage (couteau multifonctions), eau, l autre sacoche laterale : documents voyage : cartes, road book, guide du routard, vouchers hotel etc ... chaussure legere style grosses Tong, petit encas eventuellemnt, casquette pour la chaleur lors des arrets. voila quelques conseils pratiques n hesite pas si tu as besoin d'autres infos. Depart de Denver et retour dans cette ville - voyage de 3 semaines - 6 etats - dans les grosses lignes : les Rocky mountains avec neige !, Grand Junction - Moab (Canyonland les Arches) - Torrey(Capitol Reef) - Bryce Canyon - Salt Lake City - Jackson Home (Grand Teton) - Yellowstone - la 212 avec neige - Cody - Buffalo - Deadwood ( Badlands, Rushmore, ) Laramie - voici our les grandes lignes - 6080 kms de bonheur, mais difficile surtout le vent tres violent dans l est. Car si vous allez dans le sud, tu ne vas pas rencontrer les mêmes variations de températures qu'au nord ou que sur la cote du Pacific (ou il ne fait chaud que dans les films 😉 ).

On part de SF on longe la côte jusqu'à LA puis GC, MV, lake powell, LV, DV, Yosemite et retour SF.
C'est surtout au niveau des volumes des sacoches qu'on sait pas trop. On pense louer une electra glide.

Tu vas plutôt avoir de grosses chaleurs que du froid !
Il faut quand même prévoir une chemise ou pull en polaire pour les soirées et peut-être pour Grand Canyon, les soirée à San Francisco sont souvent fraîches voir très fraîches.
En général les températures ne sont pas très élévées le long du Pacific.
J'étais las bas en juin et j'ai longé la côte par la Hyghway 1, au nord de San Francisco, 11 à 12 °, au bout de 300 kms tu ne sens plus les jambes...
Mais c'est quand même vachement beau, qu'il fasse chaud ou qu'il fasse froid, tu en as toujours plein les yeux...
Vos voyages me font pas mal rêver! j'ai le permis moto depuis peu de temps donc je pense que ce n'est pas encore possible pour moi de louer un harley aux US, d'un point de vue financier, assurance et expérience!
Cependant par curiosité est que vous pouvez me dire combien ça coûte une telle location, et quelles sont conditions requise en terme d'assurance, age ou autre?

la location d'une moto est ce qu'il y a de plus cher aux States ( celà te revient de 2 à 4 fois plus cher qu'une voiture) mais quel plaisir
Il ne faut pas lésiner sur les assurances, il vaut mieux en a voir trop que pas assez. Ils ne rigolent pas en cas de problemes là bas.
Pour infos une loc de 14 jours chez Eagle Rider m'a coûté : $2670 soit 1700 euros ( negocié en janvier pour juin)
Cela comprend $1500 de loc, le reste c'est les taxes et assurances.
Tu peux faire une simulation sur le site d'Eagle Rider .
Il faut avoir 25 ans et le permis moto depuis plus d'un an (il me semble)

Il n'y a pas de caution !
Il prenne une empreinte de ta CB pour la franchise au cas ou tu abîme la moto.
La franchise est de $2000. Si tu prends l'assurance EVIP, ça ramène la franchise à $1000.
Bien entendu si tu casse pas la moto, ils ne prélèvent rien.
Il est conseillé de prendre EVIP et SLI (si elle est disponible) pour les assurances

I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

I just realized I’ve been registered on VoyageForum since... March 28, 2012 😊. Yet, I’ve barely participated until now.
August 1, 2026, will mark a somewhat special milestone: 5 years on the road.
We left Switzerland on August 1, 2021 with a simple idea: let chance decide our direction. We placed a bottle of wine on a world map, spun it... and it chose our first destination.
A year later, when we arrived in Morocco, we faced a new choice: continue toward Africa or head to Asia. This time, a tarot card game made the decision. Since then, we’ve tried to keep this journey as open to the unexpected as possible.
Today, that adds up to about 120,000 km, 46 countries, and over 1,800 days on the road—mostly by motorcycle, but also by sailboat, train, bus, hitchhiking, or on foot when adventure calls.
Our guiding thread isn’t just the motorcycle, but service exchanges. Instead of simply passing through countries, we try to stop regularly to lend a hand to the people we meet. So far, that’s about 600 days of volunteering.
Over the years, we’ve:
renovated a house in Croatia
made earth bricks in the Moroccan desert
helped sail a boat through the Greek islands
looked after houses, dogs, horses, a camel... and lots of other animals
worked at a street art festival in Morocco
created videos for local associations and projects
worked the grape harvest on the Tibetan plateau
been accredited as "media" for the World Nomad Games in Central Asia
Some of the moments that have stuck with us the most include six months in China, a night spent on the Great Wall, the Pamir Highway, the Silk Road, three months in Taiwan, and the incredible encounters in the mountains of Central Asia.
We travel on Falkor, our lucky dragon—a 2014 BMW F800GS that’s been with us since the start and is starting to have some great stories of its own.
While we share our adventure on Instagram, Polarsteps, and YouTube, that’s not why we’re here. The forum’s rules about promotion are clear, and I totally get them. If I’m finally taking the time to write, it’s mostly because after five years on the road, I thought our experience might be useful to other travelers.

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.

I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
