Petit nouveau je prépare un voyage en moto (500XT) entre la France et l'Inde. J'ai reçu du consulat du Pakistan à Paris une réponse ferme et négative sur la possibilité (à ce jour) de traverser le Pakistan par la route.
Les informations que je recueille sur les passages Iran, Émirats, Inde sont assez floues.
Toute info et experience seront bienvenues

Par la route , c'est le pensum , pas impossible mais ...
A partir de l'Iran , il vous faut passer par les pays en "stan" au nord de l'Afghanistan , bon , on y arrive mais après ? C'est automatiquement la Chine du nord-ouest et le Tibet d'où de restrictions , etc . Après , plein sud par le Népal pour l'Inde .
Moi , je vous conseille de chercher un transport maritime à partir de l'Iran ou des Emirats vers l'Inde . Dites vous qu'entre le trajet France-Iran et tout ce que vous verrez en Inde , vous en aurez déjà plein les yeux...et les mollets !
Alors , à ce moment là , je ne peux pas vous aider mais cherchez dans les discussions anciennes : je me souviens que quelqu'un avait fait passer je ne sais plus quoi , auto ou moto , de cette façon pour l'Inde .

Bonjour, tu as bien sûr un carnet de passage en douanes? Perso je voyage régulièrement en Asie, dont Thailande, Laos, Vietnam, Inde à moto, mais toujours en louant ou achetant des bécanes locales - en Inde la Royal Enfield bien sûr, 5 mois sur les pistes himalayennes l'an dernier. Un bon tracteur, fiable, mécanique et structure robustes, passe-partout (éviter les acrobaties donc les hôpitaux locaux ;+) et surtout pièces à prix dérisoire, trouvables partout, même au Cachemire Zanskar Ladakh, ce qui n'est pas le cas pour une XT. Pour info, ma seule panne en 8000km fut le changement kit chaîne à Srinagar, 1500rps, soit 20€ pièces, main-d'oeuvre, chaï et invitation repas en famille compris ; réparation effectuée dans la journée le vendredi, jour de la grande prière, par un bon musulman à côté de la mosquée principale.
Autre avantage, je revends la bécane à peu près au prix d'achat avant de repartir, ce qui permet de voyager léger et plus longtemps, l'esprit libre et les poches pas trop vides.
Certains ramènent des Enfield par la route (pas de souci par conteneur bateau), mais difficile d'obtenir un carnet depuis l'Europe (sauf peut-être l'automobile club de Bruxelles), impossible pour un étranger depuis l'Inde, peut-être négociable depuis le Népal.
La solution carnet de passage marchandises possible avec les chambres de commerce internationales (bien moins cher que le Carnet de Passage en Douanes) peut marcher, à la tête du client sur place et selon son aptitude à la négociation patiente, souriante et courtoise (compter un à deux jours de palabres selon les douaniers).
Merci de nous informer des développements, on me demande régulièrement ce périple, mais je préfère les moyens locaux, moins compliqués; et l'Asie aide à se détacher du rapport affectif à ce qui n'est somme toute que du matériel, d'une marque à une autre...

...en plus il est facile d'équiper au départ ton tracteur pour le grand raid, avec des porte-bagages ajouts pas très esthétiques, mais solides et protecteurs

Merci pour toutes ces informations. J'ai déjà loué une Enfeild 500 en Inde. Robuste, fiable, facile a equiper, réparable partout et frugale mais très lourde (enfin pour moi) et assez peu maniable sur les pistes defoncees de l'Himalaya. Mais pour l'instant je me suis mis dans la tête de faire la route jusque là bas car je viens de terminer la cc restauration de mon XT et j'ai envie de partir avec. Il y a de nombreuses années j'avais fait sans problèmes deux voyages en Algérie et au Niger avec. De plus j'aimerai bien visiter l'Iran.
Et donc mon problème actuel est la traversée du Pakistan, plus qu aléatoire ou son contournement. Voilà. Si tu as des infos la dessus je suis preneur.

De passage à Paris je suis passé à l'ambassade d'Iran. Accueil presque chaleureux. Visa de 3 mois nécessaire et carnet de passage en douane. Inconvénient, il faut aller à Paris car il y a prise d'empreintes digitales.

Je suis aussi allé à Marseille (le bureau de Sophia à fermé) pour l'Iran il faut malheureusement aller à Paris. Ça changera peut être dans l'avenir. Moi ils m'ont pris mes empreintes au cas ou. Si tu vas à Paris tu peux passer au service consulaire de l'ambassade et ils te prendront les empreintes même si tu ne fais pas de demande de visa. Cool!

il faut peut etre retenter ta chance a l'ambassade du Pakistan ? des motards autorisés a traverser il y en a , pourquoi certains sont autorisés et pas d'autres ? ca je ne sais pas ....je poserais la question directement a ceux qui ont fait cette traversée récemment si j'etais en train de preparer ce voyage ...est ce que dans ta demande de visa on te demande la route que tu comptes utilisée ? est ce que c'est le point d'entree qui pose probleme ?

OK je ressaierais lors de mon prochain passage à Paris mais la dernière fois c'était un non catégorique et définitif sans options possibles. En fait je pense que les visas sont délivrés un peu en fonction des conditions sécuritaires du pays surtout pour les voyages terrestres et en ce moment le Pakistan ne semble pas au top. C'est pour cela que je regarde les solutions alternatives.

Je suis toujours sur le coup mais j'ai un peu modéré mes ambitions et le mototrip vers l'Inde ne semble à mon âge pas très raisonnable. Par contre l'Iran me tente toujours et bien sur la distance pose problème pour raison évoquée un peu plus haut.
Je cherche donc des informations sur la possibilité de faire un Paris ou Nice Sofia ou Bucarest en train moto et de prendre un ferry vers le Géorgie et de là passer en Iran par l'Arménie ou l'Azerbaidjan selon les possibilités frontalières (ce qui fait éviter la Turquie ce qui est plutôt positif en ce moment). L'ambassade d'Iran m'avait indiqué que toutes les points d'accès terrestres étaient accessibles au porteur d'un visa touristique.

Je suis inscrit depuis quelques jours sur Forum voyage en vue de partir de Genève pour l' Iran via la Turquie en avril 2019. Vue ton expérience, je pense que, si tu le souhaites, tu m' aider. Je redoute surtout le passage de la frontière turquo-iranienne : caution, etc. Je compte m'y rendre avec ma R850R ( 15000kms ; très bon état ) et plutôt léger : juste un sac de couchage ! Le ravitaillement en essence pose-t-il problème ?

Bonjour Noël, je n'ai pas d'infos récentes sur la région. Là encore horizons unlimited reste le site de référence très à jour. Tu peux aussi vérifier le thorntree sur lonely planet. Duvet avec sursac bivouac (nuits froides en montagne) perso je prends tjrs une petite tente Quick hiker 2 places, 2,5kg, avancée, inestimable si tu es sous la pluie deux jours en brousse. Trocathlon dans tous les Decathlons de France week-end prochain je crois

Je me résume voire me répète, pour partie, si tu m' as déjà lu.
J' ai 62 ans, suis à la retraite depuis janvier. A 22/23 ans j' étais saisonnier dans les Alpes, suis parti à deux reprises pour 6 mois : transsibérien, Japon ( en stop ), Asie du sud-est ; Usa, Amérique centrale. Puis d' autres séjours beaucoup plus courts : tour des Annapurnas en 1980 ; et avec mon fils, dernièrement, un mois en Afrique du sud...
J' ai pour projet d' aller en Iran à moto en avril 2019, retour en juin. Aucune inquiétude particulière jusqu'à l' est de la Turquie pour m'y rendre seul. Mais à la vue de possible difficulté du passage de la frontière turquo-iranienne je pense qu' il est plus prudent d' être à deux...
Il est envisageable que je parte avec mon neveu (a déjà fait le Maghreb ) mais rien de sûr. Aussi,
j' étudie toute possibilité d' un partenaire motard ( curieux de tout, aventureux mais pas casse-cou ! ). Au cas ou mon neveu se décide partant, le partenaire que je recherche pourra se joindre à nous...

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

I’m looking for info on shipping my vehicle by sea—possibly to Uruguay or another destination, as I haven’t finalized anything yet.
How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?
Lastly, if any bikers want to join us (my partner and me), we’re open to that possibility too.

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

For now, I’m solo, riding a 1998 SUZUKI DR 650 with some basic gear to keep things smooth. I’ll have a tent so we can do a few nights under the stars.

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Next October we’re planning to ride the Ruta de la Plata by motorcycle—a historic Spanish route that runs from Gijón to Seville, also known as the N630.
Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
