On m'a parle de Kulelkhani Reservoir accessible en bus (donc a moto) pour Markhu soit par le col de Thankot (est de KTM), soit par Dakshinkali (sud de KTM). Jamais allee... a toi de voir.

Bonjour, je vais certainement partir pour le Népal dans un an environ. L'idée est de faire le trek du camp de base de l'Everest et de visiter.
Comme je tente au maximum d'éviter la route d'autres touristes, j'aurai aimé aller de Katmandou à Lukla en moto.
Est-ce possible ?
J'entends de louer une moto à Katmandou, et de la laisser à Lukla ? Ou me faudra-t-il la louer pour toute la durée et la laisser à Lukla en attendant mon retour (en espérant ne pas me la faire tirer...)
Pas possible d'aller en moto à Lukla, il n'y a pas de routes praticables.
Seules solutions : directement en avion à Lukla ou à pied en passant par Jiri.
Salut moi je part bientôt au Népal pour 10 jours de Bajaj au départ de KTM, je compte remonter jusqu'a Kagbeni, y a t-il du carburant sur le trajet vers Jomsom ou Kagbeni?

franchement pas sure qu'il soit possible de trouver du carburant sur le trajet. à Jomsom surement (puisqu'il y a un "aéroport").
Par contre ce n'est pas vraiment une route mais plutôt une piste avec des précipices vertigineux. La prudence est de mise!
La route pour Muktinath n'est pas évidente mais franchement c'est que du bonheur! Ma meilleure balade en moto.
Je l'ai fait avec une Bajaj 150, on était 2 dessus, c'est passé tranquille.
Niveau carburant, on avait fait le plein à Pokhara, ces machines ne consomment rien, surtout en roulant sur ces pistes à 30 à l'heure max. Pas besoin de retourner à la pompe. Meme si sur la route d'après mes souvenirs, y a toujours possibilité de trouver du carburant.
Le plus chiant, c'est les check-point où l'escroquerie est souvent de mise...mais y a moyen de resquiller...😇

je viens sur ce fil disccussion de "motard" pour avoir quelques infos.
Je vais au Nepal depuis quelques temps, en piéton, mais pour mon prochain séjour, j'aimerais louer un moto, une petite bécane, hein..., pour tout le long de mon séjour d'environ trois mois
J'ai déjà loué des motos, ou des scooters à Pokara, pour une ou quelques journées, mais à chaque fois on n'a rien voulu entendre et j'ai dû laisser mon passeport en "caution". Ce qui n'est pas génant tant qu'on ne s'éloigne pas et si c'est pour une très courte durée.
J'aimerais savoir si quelqu'un peut me conseiller sur ce problème.
Je serais bien ok pour une petite caution en Euros, ou Dollars, mais cela ne me semble pas réalisable si on me demande une somme équivalente à la valeur de l'engin.(autant en acheter une dans ce cas)
Donc...Comment louer cette moto si je ne veux pas confier mon passeport ? J'ai l'intention de naviguer "loin" avec ; Exemple: Pokara, Tansens, Lumbini, Chitwan, etc... et sans passeport...
Si vous avez aussi une bonne adresse à Pokara, cela me serait bien utile. Je précise bien Pokara et pas Kathmandu, car je ne me sens pas trop d'y circuler en moto, c'est déjà bien risqué à pied, alors en moto...
J'avais le même problème au niveau du passeport : pour des courtes durées, pas de souci, mais quand tu commences à partir un peu plus longtemps c'est gênant de laisser le passeport.
Ce que j'ai réussi à laisser en caution à des loueurs : photocopie du passeport, carte d'identité (ou photocopie), permis de conduire (ou photocopie), j'ai même laisser une carte de visite une fois 😛
Donc à mon avis tout est une question de feeling avec celui qui te louera la moto.

Carte d'identité, et permis de conduire, (qu'aucun flic à mon avis ne me demanderait de produire en original dans un contrôle) je n'y avais pas pensé, mais pas sûr que cela tranquilise le loueur.
Le feeling oui...mais jusqu'à te laisser partir avec sa bécane pour plusieurs semaines, pas sûr non plus.
Et pour ma carte de visite, à mon avis ça ne le motivera pas trop..., au moins ça le fera un peu sourire...
Je pensais aussi me faire accompagner par le patron d'un guest house, qui est aussi un ami, mais c'est génant, parce qu'il s'engage et cela risque de le mettre en soucis, et puis le loueur peut bien se contrefiche de la caution "morale" de l'un de ses compatriotes .
Et pour une caution en cash. C'est un peu ma question, de quel montant en moyenne ... ?

Reste la solution d'espérer trouver une occasion, qui me coûterait à peu près le coût de cette location pour 3 mois, et que je laisserais à un ami à mon départ. Si je compte: 400/500 rs/jour sur 90 jours, ça fait en moyenne: dans les 450 euros. Et à ce prix, même au Nepal, je ne me fais pas grande illusion pour trouver un engin qui va rouler sans histoire...
Désolé mais je ne conduis pas de moto donc je ne sais pas où tu pourrais louer une moto. En revanche demande à Saijfou (plus haut dans la conversation), il en a loué plusieurs fois et saura mieux te renseigner que moi.
Fin février Début mai c'est l'époque du Festival Shivaratri qui marque la fin de l'hiver et le début du printemps. Il fait chaud en journée mais froid la nuit. Et je pense qu'à moto la fraicheur doit se faire ressentir également !
Si je te donne le nom de quelques fêtes qui ont lieu au Népal en février/mars, est ce que tu pourrais me donner les dates de ces fêtes ? Apparemment elles n'ont pas lieu à des dates fixes et sont souvent fonction des lunes ou autres :
Basanta Panchami, losar, Maha Shivaratri, Holi, Chaitra Dasain .....
Pour ce qui est des loueurs, j'ai pas d'adresse précise à te donner, c'était souvent au petit bonheur la chance dans le quartier de Thamel.
Pour les ballades, il y en a pleins à faire dans la vallée de Ktm (faudrait que je regarde plus précisément une carte pour m'en souvenir) et monter jusqu'à Muktinath dans les Annapurna en bécane reste une super aventure, et il y a le Langtang également à faire.
Alors pour les dates des festivals en 2013 :
- Shivaratri le 10 mars
- Holi le 26 mars
- Chaitra Dasain le 20 avril
- Lhosar, un peu plus compliqué car selon les groupes qui le célèbrent, les dates sont différentes : 30 décembre, 12 janvier, 11 Février, 12 Mars.
Je me suis penché sur une carte de la vallée pour te donner quelques pistes de ballades. Mais quand tu y seras , il suffit que tu achètes une carte et de partir vers n'importe quelle direction hors Kathmandou pour faire de super ballades et des rencontres inoubliables!😇
Donc quand tu es à KTM, tu peux faire :départ vers boudha, puis sankhu. Rejoindre Nagarkot (magique le coucher ou lever de soleil), rattraper Changunarayan puis Bhaktapur.depuis Bhaktapur : Banepa, Dhulikel, Namo buddha, Panauti et rentrer vers KTM par Lhubu.Après tu peux faire le sud : Patan, Kirtipur, rejoindre Dakshinkali puis le lac artificiel de Kulekhani ( y parait que c'est cool d'y aller en vélo aussi, faut que tu demandes à LoNépal pour ça...😛) qui est un super endroit pour un pic nic et une baignade. et revenir vers KTM en passant par le col de Thankot...physique, surtout avec une crevaison😎tu peux aussi aller vers le nord avec le parc naturel de Shivapuri en passant par Sundarijal..là c'est plus du cross qu'autre chose.
La carte que j'ai mise n'est pas très précise niveau route mais c'était pour te donner une idée...il y en a tellement à faire😏

I’m planning a motorcycle road trip to Armenia and Georgia in September 2026 or May 2027. I’m looking for one or more riders (male or female) who’d like to explore these countries with me.
Along the way, we’ll visit Cappadocia, the capitals Yerevan, Tbilisi, Sofia, Skopje, and other cities—we can finalize the route and roadbook later.
This trip requires experience with long motorcycle journeys, as we’ll cover around 7,000 km over 5 or 6 weeks (or more, depending on sightseeing and time spent).
I don’t expect dozens of applicants, since motorcycle riders are few and far between on this forum, but I’m putting this out there anyway.
I’m starting to think about a trip that’s really close to my heart: Algeria by motorcycle, specifically the southern part of the country. It’d be for January 2025, and I’ve got two main questions:
Is it possible for an individual on a motorcycle to travel freely, outside of any organized tour, or does the regulation require some kind of supervision in the Algerian Sahara region?
Is the Hoggar massif accessible by road or by (rideable) tracks?
Beyond the official recommendations, I’m really looking for your firsthand experiences.

Why not explore the Peloponnese!
I’m not particularly drawn to museums, ruins, or monuments.
I want to experience local life—small villages, seaside spots, beaches, and the interior if the landscapes are extraordinary.
Ideally, coming from Athens, I’d take a bus or train to get as close as possible to a starting point, then rent a scooter (125cc) to explore by taking secondary roads or even coastal paths. I’d stay in 2-3 places for a few days each to discover their surroundings.

What do you think would be the ideal itinerary?
From Athens, the best option would be to take either a flight or a bus to Kalamata. Rent a scooter and head either west or east. Is there a tertiary road (very lightly trafficked) or a path where I can ride slowly, take it easy, and enjoy the scenery without being bothered by traffic? I’d like to go all the way to Monemvasia, still hugging the coast. I need to find a way to avoid returning to Kalamata to drop off the scooter and catch a flight—maybe a small town where the train stops so I can head back to Athens.

How do you get visas for the countries I’ll be crossing: Uruguay, Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, and Chile? Are they e-Visas, obtained at the border, or through embassies?
Where can I get vehicle insurance?

I’ve got 15 days off in June and I’m pretty undecided about where to go for a motorcycle road trip. Two strong desires are pulling me in different directions: Corsica or Norway.
Corsica has been a dream of mine for a long time: legendary roads, stunning landscapes, a unique vibe, and the perfect mix of sea and mountains. At the same time, I’m wondering if 2 weeks might be *too much* for Corsica—risking feeling like I’ve seen it all too quickly, especially on a bike.
Since I also have an extra week free in May, I could use that specifically for Corsica. Maybe splitting it into two trips would make more sense? If so, which routes or regions would be the most interesting to plan for a 7-day trip?
On the other hand, Norway is *super* appealing. The landscapes look incredible, totally different from anything I’ve experienced, and it’d be a real “wow” trip. I know 15 days is still short for such a vast country. Getting all the way to the North Cape seems pretty much impossible in that time, but I’m curious about what realistic routes could be planned.
So I’m wondering:
Is it better to save Norway for next year, take 3 weeks off, and do it *properly*?
Or are 15 days enough for a first amazing taste of the country?
I’d love to hear about your experiences—whether it’s Corsica (ideal duration, routes) or Norway (what’s realistic in 2 weeks on a bike).

Hello! We’re planning a motorcycle trip that will include a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau in June 2026.
We’re unsure (still debating) whether we should stay at a hotel on-site and get to the memorial with an Uber (leaving our bikes at the hotel) and book a guided tour, or base ourselves in Kraków and take a tour that includes transport.
One thing’s for sure—we’d prefer a guide in French since we don’t speak English 😅.
Could you share your experiences or advice?

Has anyone here already ridden it?
Unfortunately, I’m worried that parts of the N630 may have disappeared or merged with the A66 motorway, forcing us to ride long stretches of highway, which we’d rather avoid.

We’ve rented two Royal Enfield 450s.
This is our first motorcycle trip in Morocco. I got my license two years ago with the dream of taking this kind of trip, and here we are! ✌️😍
In France, we usually ride between 300 to 400 km per day on roadsters. We’re not used to off-road tracks, so we’re looking for easy ones 😅—especially for me 😅.
For Morocco, I’ve planned stages of 200 to 300 km per day.
Here’s the idea:
Day 1 (departure at noon): Marrakech - Tizi n Test - Tafingoult (165 km - 4h15)
Day 2: Tafingoult - Amzarkou - Telouet (200 km - 4h34)
Day 3: Telouet - Ait Benhaddou - Ouarzazate - Boumalne (200 km - 3h30) (+ Vallée des Roses maybe)
Day 4: Boumalne - Dades Gorges - Agoudal - Todra Gorges - Tinghir - Goulmima (291 km - 6h)
Day 5: Goulmima - Midelt - Cirque Jaffar - Agoudim (280 km - 4h45)
Day 6: Agoudim - Imilchil - Aghbala - El Ksiba (280 km - 4h45)
Day 7: El Ksiba - La Cathédrale - Zaouiat Ahansal (212 km - 4h20)
Day 8: Ahansal - Ouzoud Waterfalls via R 302 (188 km - 4h22)
Day 9: Ouzoud - Marrakech (160 km - 2h43)
