Can't see domestic flights on the Cabo Verde Airlines website

Hi there,

I can't seem to find flights between the Cape Verde islands on the airline's website. No matter the date or route, I always get the same response: "no flights on this date." See the photo. Would anyone have an explanation? Surely not all flights are fully booked in July?

Best, Thierry

In another discussion, Marie (ptitortue) mentioned a change in airline for inter-island flights. That might explain this 🤔

It works for international flights (like Lisbon), but not for domestic ones. Mysterious...

Personally, I'd email the airline for an explanation.

Hi there, I can confirm that since March 28th, you need to buy tickets on the website of the airline that now operates domestic flights: CV Sky. For international flights, it’s still Cabo Verde Airlines. That said, in the summer, flights are often full: small planes, tourists, and Cape Verdeans living abroad on vacation. Marie

I always say it: if you’ve got a question about Cape Verde, ask Marie! 😉 Thanks

Hi there, and thanks for the info.

I’ll be able to plan my trip now.

Have a great day.

Hi Marie,

I’d say this new airline should be used with caution, because:

They operate flights with two ATR 42s (on lease) from a leasing company (True Noord) based in Amsterdam. Oddly, both planes are registered D4 = Cape Verde, which means Cape Verdean authorities (DGAC/CAA) have to monitor everything... Are they competent and "safe"?

And the Cape Verde Air Line Pilots Association already raised concerns in 2025:

- Insufficient crew retraining.

- Recruitment of new pilots for Linhas Aéreas de Cabo Verde (LACV), the future domestic airline, without following regulatory procedures.

Thanks, Chris

PS: In 2025, I was still flying on ATR42s with Jump Air, a Lithuanian company—already an adventure! But at least it met EU and EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) standards....

Otherwise, there’s the ferry😏

The ferry remains an option

Yes, it’s a great adventure too (except São Vicente - Santo Antão - São Vicente)....

It’s not like there weren’t other options… But that was probably already the case—the transfers we did last summer were all operated by chartered planes (and German crews, too).

Hi Chris, Thanks for your comments and info.

Still, you know, here we don’t really have a choice. This is the only airline for inter-island flights. If we locals can deal with it, I think tourists on vacation can too... or just not do it! Because tourists have the option of not coming to Cape Verde, not traveling between islands, or using the ferry (which isn’t always much better, by the way). Most Cape Verdeans don’t have that choice... So, well... we’ve learned to make do with what’s available. 😉
