Alors que je veux visiter L'Inde et le Népal avec ma fille au cours d'un même voyage, j'ai fait l'erreur d'acheter deux AR Paris-Delhi. Je pense faire une demande d'exemption à la règle des 2 mois mais comme je n'ai pas encore acheté mes billets d'avion Varanasi-Kathmandu et Kathmandu-Delhi je suis confronté au dilemne suivant soit renoncer au Népal soit acheter mes billets vers le Népal au risque ensuite de ne pas avoir l'exemption et d'avoir donc perdu pas mal d'argent. D'où ma question: Y a t'il eu parmi vous des cas de refus de l'exemption de la règle des 2 mois par l'ambassade d'Inde à Paris ? Merci d'avance de vos réponses.
Si tu te rends dans un pays limitrophe à l'Inde (le Népal, par exemple) et si tu as la preuve (billet d'avion, par exemple) que pour renter chez toi ton avion repart d'un aéroport indien, tu peux à nouveau franchir la frontière indienne sans attendre un délai de 2 mois et ce, à condition que ton visa soit encore valable (attention, à partir de la date d'entrée sur le territoire indien. Le temps de séjour maximum de séjours en Inde est de 90 jours, même si tu as un visa valable pour six mois. Attention le seul point où les renseignements divergent: combien de temps peut-on encore rester sur le territoire indien après avoir repassé une seconde fois la frontière ? De cinq jours à l'expiration des 90 jours du séjour autorisé en Inde ? Personne ne m'a apporté de réponse fiable.
En France, contrairement à la Belgique, tu peux rester 180 jours pleins en Inde avec le via de 6 mois. On peut aller au Népal en demandant une dérogation à Kathmandu avec son billet retour de l'Inde. On peux trouver plus de détails en cherchant bien sur ce forum ou en appelant VFS 😉

Je suis dans la même situation, je me suis rendu à l'ambassade d'Inde à Kathmandu et j'ai obtenu un tampon spécial après avoir rempli quelques papiers et fourni des photocopies, aucun souci :
- Première visite, j'explique ma situation, on me dit que je n'ai pas besoin d'autorisation, puis une seconde plus tard on me dit que si, bref, je récupère les deux formulaires à remplir et la liste des photocopies à fournir : billet Kathmandu-Delhi, et Delhi-Paris (dans mon cas), passeport, visa Inde et Nepal + tampons d'entrée-sortie. La boutique à droite face à l'ambassade connait bien le processus et fait les photocopies en 30 secondes pour 10 Rps pièce.
- Deuxième visite, pour donner les papiers et le passeport, le lendemain. Et payer les 900 Rps de frais de dossier.
- Puis troisième visite à 17h le même jour pour récupérer le passeport, avec un gros tampon dedans qui m'indique que j'ai le droit de retourner en Inde dans les 13 prochains jours (aucune idée pourquoi 13 jours, ça ne correspond pas à mon vol KTM-DEL).
Voila, la démarche est simple, la seule chose c'est la longue attente, près de 4 heures aux 2 premières visites, même en arrivant avant l'heure d'ouverture.
L'ambassade est à 5-10 min en taxi selon la circulation, 20-30 min à pied par rapport à Thamel, le quartier touristique et backpacker.
Partant en Inde la semaine prochaine , je suis dans le même cas mais avec peut être une réponse.
Mon parcours prévu est Paris=>Delhi=>Kathmandou=>Delhi=>Rajahstan=>Delhi=>Paris
J'ai fait une demande de dérogation à la règle des 2 mois qui à priori a été refusée puisque, malgré le fait que j'ai obtenu un visa double, je n'ai nulle part mention claire sur le visa de cette dérogation. Pourtant j'avais fourni mes billets d'avion Delhi Kathmandou.
J'ai voulu en avoir le coeur net, alors j'ai appelé l'ambassade d'Inde à Paris. Quant je lui ai dit que j'allais au Népal quelque jours, l'agent m'a répondu, en gros : "pas de problème, pour le Sri Lanka, le Népal ou le Bangladesh il n'y a pas besoin de dérogation."
Donc en clair je crois qu'il me faisait comprendre que les douaniers s'étaient assouplis pour les circuits au Népal ou autres pays limitrophes.
Bref, je ne sais pas trop quoi penser, je vais essayer d'appeler l'ambassade d'Inde à Kathmandou , ou l'ambassade de France à Delhi.

Oui, manifestement certains disent ça, je l'ai lu plusieurs fois dans des forums, mais j'ai aussi lu que parfois même dans le cas de pays limitrophes ça ne fonctionne pas : avion raté !
Ça dépend de l'agent sur lequel vous tombez, c'est un risque à tenter.
Merci pour vos réponses. Il y a quand même un évident manque de clarté, volontaire sans doute, de la part de nos amis indiens. Mais pour avoir travaillé en Inde et m'être frotté à la bureaucratie indienne je ne suis pas surpris. Pour l'instant je me bats pour l'obtention du visa de ma fille mineure qui voyage avec son propre passeport. Le fait qu'elle porte le nom de famille de sa mère, qui ne voyage pas avec nous, pose de sérieux problèmes. Le parcours du combattant continue.

Normalement, ils ne refusent pas cette possibilité, sachant que les gens faisant inde-nepal-inde en moins de 2 mois, c'est très courant. Lors de ta demande de visa, il suffit de faire une lettre expliquant les raisons de ta demande ( voyage au nepal ..). Tu n'as pas besoin d'avoir les billets d'avion pour Kathmandou maintenant (je l'ai fait egalement comme ca). Car tu pourrais aussi passer la frontiere par voie terrestre

Neighborhood Country visits: Some foreign nationals holding tourist visas, after initial entry into India, plan to visit another country largely on account of neighborhood tourism and need to reenter India within 60 days, before finally exiting. Such persons may be permitted up to three entries (need based) subject to submission of a detailed itinerary. Once such a foreign national exits the country after availing the facility of three entries (within the visa validity period or stay stipulation period of 180 days) there shall be a gap of two months from the date of final exit before re-entry into India again on a tourist visa.

Je pars le 6 juillet à Delhi. Le 26 juillet je ferai Varanasi-Kathmandu et le 3 aout Kathmandu-Delhi pour un retour en France le 9 aout.
J'ai fourni mes billets d'avion Inde Népal à VFS, qui me les avait demandés, et j'attends le retour des passeports.
Avec un visa 6 mois, multiple entries, il est nécessaire d'obtenir un re entry permit (et non un transit visa) qui coûte 900 nrp (env. 9 euros). Sa durée maximale est de 15 jours, billet d'avion de sortie d'Inde obligatoire. Ce permis commence dès sa date d'issue et on l'obtient dans la journée, demande avant 9h, retrait 17h du lundi au vendredi sauf jours fériés indiens.
Avec un visa double entrées, il est possible de ré entrer en Inde avant les deux mois sans passer par la case ambassade.
Info importante à faire passer:
En voyageant sur Air Asia et en transit à Calcutta, il est obligatoire de posséder un visa de transit indien même si l'on reste en zone de transit international de l'aéroport.
Actuellement a Kathmandou, j ai fait tout de meme un petit saut a l ambassade, et le reentry permit s obtient sans aucune difficulte, il faut juste s y rendre le matin assez tot.
je l ai fait sur conseil d un francais vivant dans la capitale, qui connait des personnes ayant ete bloquees.

Je viens de recevoir les passeports à L'instant. Les visas sur mon passeport et sur celui de ma fille ne sont pas identiques. Pour moi pas de problème. La mention No entry permitted within 60 days of last exit from India est présente et a été barrée. Donc jepeux réentreer.
Sur le visa de ma fille la mention No entry etc... n'existe pas. Donc à priori elle s'applique et ne pourra pas réentreer. Je vais appeler l'ambassade d'inde à PAris pour confirmation.

j'ai obtenu un visa touriste d'un an entrees multiples.
a l'arrivee a l'aeroport de delhi, l'agent d'immigration m'a bien precise cette regle des 90 jours consecutifs en Inde et de la sortie durant 60 jours minimum avant la re-entree dans le pays.
quelqu'un pourrait-il me confirmer qu'il est possible d'obtenir un 're-entry permit' a l'ambassade indienne de kathmandu au nepal?

Lis bien les posts, j'ai précisé plus haut que j'ai obtenu sans aucun problème la dérogation à l'ambassade de l' Inde de Kathmandou, donc no stress ! Pour cela il faut s'y rendre le matin à l'ouverture (9h je crois), fournir differents documents comme billets d'avion, photocopie de passeport, itinéraire prévu en Inde, etc. Cela coûte environ 9 euros, on laisse son passeport la journée et on le récupère au même endroit à 17h le même jour. Cette formalité est très courante, donc pas de souci !

- photocopie du billet d'avion de sortie d'inde (maximum 15 jours après la demande de transit permit)
- copie de visa népalais
- et de visa indien et
- copie de passeport

Merci pour ces explications mais j'ai besoin d'un petit éclaircissement. Pour le visa il faut faire la demande en ligne... Ensuite faut-il joindre ta lettre de motivation pour la "re-entry permitted' à ta demande de visa lorsque tu vas directement la déposer à VFS. Er que faut-il préciser dans cette lettre, en sachant que j'ai l'intention de passer la frontière par vois terrestre.

Je rentre juste d'Inde avec intermède de 10 jours au Népal et je n'ai eu aucun problème avec la règle des 2 mois. Comme c'est moi qui ai lancé cette discussion, je tiens en quelque sorte à la fermer par mon retour d'expérience.
J'avais rempli le formulaire de dérogation à la règle des 2 mois en meme temps que la demande de visa (double entrée) et fourni une photocopie de mes billets d'avion Varanasi KTM et KTM Delhi et transmis le tout à VFS Paris.
A réception des passeports j'avais noté une différence entre le visa de ma fille et le mien.
Sur le mien la mention 'No entry permitted within 60 days of last exit' était présente mais avait été barrée et surmontée d'un tampon officiel 'Embassy of India - Rectified'. Sur celui de ma fille rien n'était indiqué. Seulement nb of entries: double. J'avais appelé VFS qui m'avait rassuré en me disant que je n'aurai pas de problème de ré-entrée dans les 2 mois ni pour ma fille, ni pour moi.
Et en effet nous n'avons eu aucun problème pour réentrer en Inde après 10 jours au Népal. Et aucune mention de type 'reentry permitted' n'était présente sur nos visas. Et nous ne somme pas allés non plus à l'ambassade d'Inde à Kathmandu chercher une quelconque autorisation.
En conclusion il suffit de remplir la demande de dérogation en meme temps que les autres documents demandés et de transmettre le tout à VFS. La seule contrainte est que VFS m'a réclamé les billets d'avion Inde-Népal AR ce qui m'a forcé de les acheter plus tot que je ne pensais le faire.

En complément :
Si l'on fait un trajet Paris Delhi puis Katmandou Paris via Delhi : est il nécessaire dans ce dernier cas d'avoir un quelconque visa, double entrée ou de transit. Le vol que j'ai simulé sur air india indique une correspondance mais dans ce cas on reste dans la zone de correspondance de l'aéroport, donc pas besoin de visa, non ?
La dérogation est gratuite si tu la demandes en meme temps que le visa (mon expérience).
Juillet Aout n'est pas la bonne période pour visiter l'Inde, mais ma fille étant lycéenne je n'avais pas le choix des dates.
Si tu passes à Agra, n'oublie pas de visiter la vieille ville, ça vaut presque le Taj Mahal (l'inverse en quelque sorte) et à Bénarès n'oublie pas le quartier musulman, un labyrinthe de ruelles très oppressant, des mecs partout qui te dévisagent d'une manière peu amène, pas une nana même voilée. Se balader aussi dans les ruelles de Old Delhi, où l'on redécouvre plein de métiers qui n'existent plus chez nous. Les 2 semaines dans le Rajasthan ont été magnifiques.
Il ne pleuvait pas beaucoup en Inde au contraire du Népal: pluie quotidienne en général après 16h.
Si tu restes dans l'aéroport tu n'as besoin de visa, mais comme la dérogation à la règle des 2 mois est gratuite, autant la demander en meme temps que ton visa, surtout si tu as déjà tes billets d'avion Inde-Népal-Inde

j'ai ete l'autre jour a l'ambassade indienne de kathmandu.
beaucoup d'attente, mais on obtient en effet son re-entry permit dans la journee, contre 900 roupies nepalaises, c'est un bon business.
avec les documents mentionnes ci-dessus, deux formulaires differents sont a remplir dont l'un demande une photo.
beaucoup d'attente ; le guichet ouvre a 9h30 mais les portes ouvrent a 8h30 pour prendre les tickets d'attente et commencer a remplir les formulaires distribues par les agents.
les agents de securite sont hilarants qui vont parler a tout le monde gentiment, font collection de tickets d'attente et en donnent discretement aux gens qu'ils aiment bien.

Pour obtenir cette fameuse dérogation on a donc le choix entre
- passer plusieurs heures à l'ambassade d'Inde à kathmandu et payer 9 euros par personne.
ou
- faire la demande (gratuite) à VFS en meme temps que la demande de visa. Moi je préfère cette solution, mais il est bon de savoir qu'une solution de secours existe sur place.

I’ll explain my situation.
Unfortunately, I lost my passport, and I only realized it two weeks before my departure for a humanitarian mission in Libya. I’m a nurse, and this mission really means a lot to me.
First, I applied for an emergency passport, but it was denied by the Val-d'Oise prefecture on the grounds that a planned humanitarian mission wasn’t considered an urgent reason.
So, I submitted a biometric passport application on July 20th. Since then, the tracking has been stuck, and the town hall can’t (or won’t) give me any clear information. Every time I call, I get a different story. The last update I received was that the passport had been produced since July 23rd with a status of "about to be shipped," but nothing since then.
I’ve managed to push my departure back to next Tuesday at the latest, but I’m starting to really panic.
Have any of you submitted an application around July 20th, especially in Val-d'Oise (95)? How long did you wait between the passport being produced and it being available at the town hall? Is it normal for this step to take this long?
This mission means so much to me. I had everything organized, and I’m also supposed to attend a friend’s wedding right after near the border.

The information I’ve found about whether an international permit is required is contradictory. Some sources say you need one, others say you don’t.
Could anyone let me know if an international driver’s permit is necessary to rent a car in Australia (Perth), or if a French license is enough for a 7-day rental?
I’m a bit embarrassed because I need to travel to Quebec from February 27th to March 13th. I’m a regular visitor to Canada—this will be my 10th trip since 1997, plus a year as a permanent resident (2000–2001) and a cross-country run from Vancouver to Halifax in 2011. So, I’m definitely not a terrorist!
But since our last trip in July 2015, they’ve introduced this eTA thing. Seems more like a way to make money than to actually secure Canada, if you ask me, but anyway, that’s not the point.
I applied for an eTA for myself, my wife, and our two kids. They all got approved within hours, but not me! I was asked to create a GC key and then an IRCC account, which I did. Normally, you get news within 72 hours, but since Monday, January 15th, nothing!
In the "message" section of the account, it says "explanation letter (required)" with a deadline of January 25th, but I can’t find any explanation anywhere—despite searching the Canadian government website and Google. No links, nothing!
I’ve emailed them but haven’t heard back yet. I’m thinking of calling the Canadian embassy in Paris tomorrow. Even though I’m not stressing yet, it’d be a bummer if everyone else got to go without me!
If anyone’s had this issue before or knows what this explanation letter is about, I’d love to hear more.

I’m planning a trip from France to Alberta/British Columbia, and I’m unsure about which bank card to use for the security deposit with the rental company (I’m thinking of going with AVIS).
I contacted Avis Canada, and they told me a credit card is absolutely required. I asked my bank for a credit card (a *real* credit card), but they only offered me a deferred debit card.
My question: For a rental with Avis Canada, is a Gold International Mastercard deferred debit card usable for the security deposit needed to finalize the rental? Is the "CREDIT" label enough? (Some cards say "CREDIT" and others say "CARTE DE CREDIT"—seems minor, but it’s actually a big deal in how the card works.)
I’ve seen conflicting info everywhere I look... My bank says it’s *usually* okay (the deferred debit card), while Avis Canada insists it *must* be a credit card, not debit—even when I mention the deferred debit card.
I know the whole credit card concept is already confusing, and on top of that, some sites say a deferred debit card counts as a credit card, while others say it doesn’t.

I bought a one-way flight (Ryanair) and a return flight (EasyJet) to spend a week in Morocco in April.
My passport expires 3 weeks after the return date.
Some websites say the passport must be valid for 3 months at the time of entry.
However, it will still be valid both on entry and return, but its validity will only be 1 month at the time of entry (and 3 weeks on the return date, everything prepaid).
It's an individual family trip.
The consulate can't give me an answer—they're still looking into it (really!)
Last year, we stayed for 3 months in Thailand, north of Khao Lak, and were able to benefit from the 2-month visa exemption, renewable for one month by going to Takua Pa to validate a 1-month extension (1,900 baht).
This year, it’s a disaster for us—not only were we planning a 4-month stay, adding a visa run in between (which some say is quite risky), but the law is apparently changing in the coming months with the return of the 1-month exemption (plus the usual 1-month option). So, we looked into applying for a 6-month multiple-entry visa, allowing a maximum of 60 consecutive days in Thailand. However, I can’t find anywhere the minimum time required outside Thailand between two stays—do any of you have an idea?

We’ll soon be moving to Madagascar long-term.
As a French national, I need to obtain a short-stay visa that can be converted to a long-stay one. To do this, I have to send the required documents to the Madagascar embassy in Paris.
No issues with that procedure so far.
If I get this visa, once I arrive in Madagascar, I’ll need to provide the same documents to the Ministry of the Interior in Anosy. I’m trying to find an email address or website for the Ministry to check which documents I need to submit (I think they ask for additional ones).
If you have any info on this, I’d appreciate your replies.

I’d like to know if anyone has already applied for a private visa to Russia with an invitation from a Russian resident.
I traveled earlier this year with an e-visa, but since I want to stay longer, I’ll be visiting my friend who lives in eastern Russia.
For the visa application, does the invitation need to be on an official paper form issued by the Russian ministry? And most importantly, do I need to present the original for the application, or is there an electronic version that can be sent directly to the consulate in France?

I filled out the B2 form to apply for a visa, created an account on Atvis to pay the visa fees and schedule a meet-up, but every time I try to pay with my Boursobank Visa 1st card, they refuse the payment with a message telling me to check my details (address), even though everything is correct. Does anyone know why this is happening, or maybe they don’t accept Visa cards? Are you aware of this?

There are rumors going around about the ETA: it must absolutely be on your smartphone in the "ETA" app.
Paper documents might not be accepted.

I’ve read that China may ask for proof of exit within 30 days (flight ticket or other reservation). Since we’d be leaving by land, I’m wondering how this works in practice.
Has anyone here been in this situation recently?
Did the airline ask for an exit ticket before boarding?
Did Chinese authorities require proof upon arrival?
Is a train/bus ticket to Vietnam sufficient?
Is a cancelable or flexible reservation accepted?

My wife and I are heading to the US.
On her ticket, it only has her maiden name (e.g., Martine DUPOND).
On her passport, it’s written as Martine DUPOND épouse AVRY.
No issues for travel, I hope I did the right thing with the ticket?
Then for the ESTA, is just Martine DUPOND enough, or do I need to include the "épouse AVRY" part like on the passport?

I saw on the French Embassy in Peru’s website and the Peruvian Consulate in Paris’s site that the rule is to have a passport valid for 6 months *after the arrival date* (not the return date).
I arrive in Peru on August 13, 2019 (for about twelve days), and my passport is valid until February 16, 2020.
That’s 6 months and 3 days after my arrival date in Peru. In my opinion, I’m good to go.
But could I still be denied entry if they say I don’t cover the return date or that I’m too close to the 6-month mark?
I read on the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs website that it’s possible to apply for a temporary driving permit in China, valid for 1 month.

My departure is slowly approaching, and now that I’ve got my Russian visa sorted, I’m fine-tuning the rest of my trip to Tajikistan. Since the Tajik visa is no longer required for stays under 30 days (for French nationals), I’ll need to visit the Ministry of Interior (OVIR) to register within 10 days of entering the country. No big deal, though, since I had to go there anyway to apply for my GBAO permit. 😉 However, I’ve *seen* several reports from travelers (mostly motorized) mentioning that you need an entry permit for Kyrgyzstan, which has to be arranged in advance at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) in Dushanbe. Otherwise, you’re *stuck* at the Kyzyl-Art border (with no Wi-Fi, of course, to try and sort it out). The most recent report was from a year ago, so I’d love to know if this is still the case and if it’s indeed at the Kyrgyz Ministry (consulate?) where you need to go for this pre-authorization.
