J'aurai besoin de votre aide et de vos conseils afin d'optimiser notre voyage sur Bali et Lombok, qui se déroulera du 10 avril 2010 au 1er mai 2010.
Certes, nous sommes encore à plus de 5 mois du grand départ mais nous aimerions avoir un peu de concret.
Je préfère vous prévenir, il ne s'agit là que d'une première mouture, surement un peu naïve dans sa conception.
Comme pour tous nos précédents voyages, 1 règle immuable: découvrir tout en se reposant aussi!
Pour l'instant, seuls les billets d'avion ont été achetés(700€/P A-R avec Qatar Airways). Nous sommes un jeune couple, agés de 30 ans tous les 2.
Cette petite précision étant faite, voici ce à quoi que avons pensé:
Samedi 10 avril: Départ de Paris CDG à 15H50 (Vol Paris-Denpasar via Doha(Qatar))
Dimanche 11 avril:Arrivée prévue à l'aéroport de Denpasar à 18H10. Nuit à Seminyak ou Jimbaran?
Lundi 12 avril: Visite Kuta et Temple Uluwatu. Nuit à Jimbaran
Mardi 13 avril: Route vers Tana Lot. Nuit ?
Mercredi 14 avril: Nous prenons l'avion à Denpasar direction Mataram, sur l'île de Lombok. Nuit à Batu Layar.
Jeudi 15 avril, Vendredi 16 avril et Samedi 17 avril: Trek et ascension du volcan Rinjani (Agence Perama ou Lombok Network?)
Dimanche 18 avril: Route du Rinjani vers le port de Bangsai avec au programme: sources chaudes du volcan et les chutes de Tiu Pupas). Nuit sur ïles Gili.
Lundi 19 avril et mardi 20 avril: Repos sur îles Gili (Gili Air, Gili Trawangan ou Gili Meno???)
Mercredi 21 avril: Bateau des Gilis vers Amed. Nuit à Amed
Jeudi 22 avril: Amed et environs. Nuit à Amed
Vendredi 23 avril: Route d'Amed vers Lovina(Au programme: Sidemen, Besakih et Lac Batur). Nuit à Lovina.
Samedi 24 avril: Lovina vers Pemuteran(au programme: temple kubutambahan, sources naturelles de Air Sanih et cascade de Git Git). Nuit à Pemuteran.
Dimanche 25 avril: Pemuteran. Nuit à Pemuteran.
Lundi 26 avril: Route de Pemuteran vers Ubud. Nuit à Ubud.
Mardi 27 avril: Ubud et environs(scooter)
Mercredi 28 avril: Ubud(scooter)
Jeudi 29 avril: Ubud(scooter)
Vendredi 30 avril: Mengwi?
Samedi 1er mai: Journée plage et derniers achats(mais où) avant retour vers la France. Décollage à Denpasar à 23H10, ce qui nous laisse la journée.
Au niveau des activités, voici ce que nous aimerions faire:
- Parcours de rafting
- Visite d'un parc ornitologique et d'un parc de reptiles
- Observer et découvrir des rituels de crémation...

Nous sommes partis à Bali 15 jours en Octobre 2009.
Ce que nous avons préféré : UBUD (balade dans la ville bien animée et dans les rizières tout autour du centre ville et spectacle de danse à Ubud Palace, en centre)
Nous avons aussi beaucoup aimé AMED, avec location d'un scooter, c'est l'idéal pour se balader et la plage est assez belle avec de belles plongées à faire (snorkeling). Nous avons souvent bénéficié des services de pêcheurs pour nous amener à divers endroits. Ambiance très familiale.
Munduk, nous avons un peu moins aimé, on s'est un peu ennuyés.
Nous avons fait une descente en Rafting de 2 h, très chouette mais je ne sais plus où, tu peux m'envoyer si tu veux un message privé et je regarderais le lieu et l'organisme.
Pour les achats, nous les avons fait à UBUD et SANUR.
Bonne préparation de voyage.
Tu fais le trek du Rinjani à partir de où ... ? le mieux serait à partir de Senaru au Nord, ainsi tu n'es pas trés loin de l'embarquement pour les Gilis .... l'ascension du Rinjani ce n'est pas une petite affaire, mieux vaut le savoir surtout si tu y vas avec ton amie ( ou femme, ou ... ) .....
Résider aux Gilis ...... beaucoup de post là dessus, moi ma préféré c'est Trawangan en trois fois qu ej'y suis allé, tu peux y trouver tou ce qu'il faut pour les activités aquatiques, s'amuser et la tranquillité surtout à la période ou tu vas, ce n'est pas trop chargé .....
Pour le reste, c'est à ta convenance et pas trop mal équilibré .....

noussommes partis a bali+lombok en mai dernier , donc je peux vous donner mon humble avis .
Pour les parcs et le rafting = 0 , j'en ai pas vu mais je n'ai pas cherhcé non plus ....
Kuta et sans interet aucun sauf si vous aimez voir les australiens fashions boire des bieres ou manger au burger king ...... moi c pas du tout ma came .
Vous allez ensuite sur lombok , j'ai eu un vrai coup de coeur pour cette ile encore preserve mais c tres pauvre encore , mais assez sauvage . Ca conserve donc un espri ''roots'' mais sans trop ( hormis Sengiggi and co pas routard du tout ) qui n'est pas pour me deplaire . Les plages du sud sont a couper le souffle , les plus belles que j'ai vu de ma vie ( Mawun etc ) . Vraiment si vous pouvez y aller n'hesitez pas , mais fo prevoir 2 ou 3 jours pour profiter de l'endroit .
Les gilis : excellent souvenir , j'ai fait pour ma part trawangan et air et j'ai prefere trawangan pour les plages plus sympas que su air avec moins de coraux . Je pratiquais la plongée la bas , super spot d'ailleurs .
Amed : bon spot si vous faites du snorkeling , plages de sables noir donc on aime ou pas ....
Ubud : malgre le fait que tout le monde va a ubud j'ai bien accroche , atmosphere particuliere avec des tas de ballades ympas au milieur des rizieres tout autour d'ubud ; syper resto les plus ympas que j'ai fait du voyage .
A mon humble avis le bemol que je poserais est le nombre d'etapes , surtout en ce qui concerne les plages . Ca fait un peu marathon pour des vacances je trouve , meme si je comprends tres bien qu'on veut tout faire mais cela enleve du charme au voyage . Diminuer le nombre d'etaps vous permet en plus de pouvoir vous poser dans les endroits qui vous plaisent , apres tout depend de vos attentes.
Vous restez parfois une seule journee dans un lieu ( pemeturan par ex ) , ce qui n'offre pas trop d'interet .
Pourquoi ne pas rester plus longtemps sur une plage qui vous plait , les gilis sont vraiment sympa ( mais moins que celles de lombok ;-) ) .
Si vous vuolez plus d'infos , n'hesitez pas .
Nous avons a peu pres le meme age que vous ( un peu plus jeune 😛 ) donc dans l'esprit de nos vacances peuvent se rejoindre , c'est pourquoi je me suis permise de vous donner mon avis .

Je confirme qu’il y a possibilité de faire du rafting à Bali, d’ailleurs c’est plutôt très sympa ; on avait fait ça en réservant depuis Ubud. Ca prend +/- ½ journée.
Ubud, j’ai également bcp aimé, c’était notre « camp de base », idéal pour rayonner autour de l’ile ! Conseil : allez voir Thierry, un Français qui tient une librairie en face du marché, il aura plein de bons tuyaux à vous donner !
Kuta Bali, c’est effectivement blindé d’Aussie, mais ça reste un endroit bien sympa pour faire la fête (surtout en tant que célibataire :) ainsi que du shopping pour ressembler à un Australien :)
Sinon le Rinjani ce n’est pas rien quand même je confirme ! Bonne idée d’enchainer avec un peu de repos sur les Gili Islands. J’étais sur Trawangan, superbe ! Perso je resterai au moins 3 jours voir plus. C’est un super spot de plongée/diving + parfait pour se reposer et manger des poissons grillés le soir dans une ambiance super decontract’ !!
Kuta Lombok est superbe aussi, pas très fréquenté, superbes plages, mais risque de s’ennuyer après 2 jours . . .
Bon voyage, ca va être excellent de toute façon :)

achats à l'aéroport, beaux produits de meilleure qualité, un peu plus chers mais cela vaut le coup. Y a pas photo!

rituels de crémation : pour cela, il faut prendre son temps, se poser un peu, demander aux Balinais s'il y a une procession, une crémation. Les chauffeurs de taxi et les hôteliers pourront vous renseigner. Sarong de rigueur.
Pour le reste, je vous avais écrit un long mail et tout a sauté, grrrrrrrrrrrrr !

Je pense que ce parcours est plus équilibré que le premier. Toutefois, il nous faudrait économiser une journée ailleurs, pour en rajouter 1 à Amed. Mais quelle journée enlever à votre avis?

J'ai la paresse d'aller voir ce que je t'avais écrit (ou pas écrit ???? tu sais, j'avais buggé et plus eu le courage de réécrire tout le mail) mais une nuit ici, une nuit là, c fatigant et pas très dans ton esprit, enfin ta règle immuable.
Pour voir des cérémonies et crémations (très drôle la réflexion de ...., en effet, qui aurait l'idée saugrenue en France de s'inviter à un enterrement? mais à Bali, c'est super beau, toutes ces cérémonies et défilés, si, si), prends ton temps.
Pourquoi Amed? Vous voulez faire de la plongée? Perso, je n'ai pas aimé; c'est une longue route qui longe la mer et des plages affreuses (gravier, caillasse dans la mer et sable grossier et noir) et des deux côtés que des hôtels ou presque. Nous avions un super hôtel mais notre but n'était pas de faire du farniente mais bon de là, on a vu le Waterpalace (bien!) et Tirta Gangga (magnifique). Ne pas oublier à Tirta Gangga -ce que nous n'avons pas fait mais que j'ai lu ensuite - une balade à pied dans les rizières.
Je continue de trouver ça bizarre de s'inviter aux funérailles d'un inconnu. Même si le décorum est beau et "authentique". Faut pas se laisser berner par l'ambiance "festive" de ces cérémonies, c'est pas parce que les gens sourient qu'ils sont heureux...
Bon, apparemment ça ne choque pas grand monde à part moi 😕
Deux / trois réflexions, mais attention, tout dépend de ce que vous cherchez sur place:
- Kuta Bali n'a aucun intérêt, sauf pour le surf. Commencer Bali par là, c'est un peu dommage; vous pourrez toujours aller à uluwatu en scooter ou taxi lors de votre dernière journée, avec halte pour manger un poisson sur la plage de jimbaran avant de repartir (parce que Denpasar ne vaut pas le coup non plus). Nous sommes arrivés à la même heure que vous à Bali et avons pris un taxi pour UBUD directement, et nous ne l'avons pas regretté: se lever le premier matin avec vue sur les rizières est absolument magique. En sortant de l'aéroport à 19h, vous serez à Ubud à 21h.
- à propos d'Ubud: c'est quand même la région la plus fantastique de l'île, avec des excursions magiques à faire (conseil: prendre un guide à la journée; le principe ne m'enchantait guère, mais ça donne une toute autre dimension à vos ballades); c'est simple: on avait prévu de ne rester que 4 jours à Ubud pendant notre séjour en Indonésie, mais on y est revenu 3 fois finalement, plusieurs jours à chaque fois, parce qu'on s'y sent très bien très vite et qu'il y a beaucoup de choses à voir, et à faire -y compris rafting et excursions à vélo. Un conseil donc, prévoyez plus large pour Ubud
- Je partage l'avis donné sur Tirtagganga qui vaut vraiment le coup, pour une nuit sur la route entre Ubud et Amed; ou au retour vers Denpasar.
- Sinon il y a aussi Kuta Lombok: effectivement plages magiques, très peu d'infrastructures, impression de bout du monde, mais difficilement accessible
- les coins dispensables en résumé: kuta bali, denpasar, et j'ajouterais pemutaran voire Lovina.
- savez-vous qu'un bateau rapide peut vous amener d'Amed aux Gili, en 1h15? Vous pouvez peut-être revoir votre itinéraire dans ce sens pour aller de Bali à Lombok.
a propos du Rinjani le trek de 3 jours ne pouvais pas se faire cet été, car le volcan etait en activité, un peu de lave qui coulait d'une petite chemine sur le coté du petit dome.
Seul le trek on monte, on dort on redescend était faisable, de toute façon si vous n'êtes pas des grands marcheurs en général c'est suffisant :p
pour les prix en pleine saison sur place la balade de 2 jours nous est revenu a 700 000 rp par personne, pour 7 personnes, avec le taxi du retour à Trawagan (enfin une ville pas loin des Gilis) et une nuit a senaru, et pas mal de négociation quand même.
et je n'ai pas pu surfer pendant 2 jours a cause des courbatures :p
Quand au gilis on m'en a dit du mal en gros se serais des iles blindés de touristes qui glandent sur la plage, et pire : on peu rarement y surfer !
Et pour ceux qui critique Kuta et ses aussi bourré, j'ai rencontré des gens qui disent que Ubud, c'est un coin plein de français speudo intello ... bon je dirais que c'est quand meme beau a voir rien que pour les rizières, apres c'est quand meme un truc rempli de touriste et de balinais qui te vois un peu comme un porte monnaie ambulant (meme si ils ont toujours un méga smile :)).
le sud de Lombok pour qui ne surf pas c'est vite chiant, y a rien a y faire, par contre tu peux te trouver des plages immenses et quasi désertes facilement ... ensuite faut aime le scooter et les vaches ... il y a de la pèche sous marine aussi mais faut trouver du monde qui connait pour en faire ...
nous on est partis 3 semaines il y a 2 ans, et on a fait à peu près le meme circuit, sans Pemuteran.
2/3 suggestions comme ca :
- tu peux t'épargner des changements d'hotel tous les jours (Mengwi, Munduk...) car Bali est une petite ile donc tu peux aussi faire des balades en étoile depuis ubud ou seminyak, dans la journée. A toi de voir, nous on préfère !
- Ubud malgré le monde c'est vraiment top, 3 jours c'est bien pour en profiter et surtout en sortir pour se balader.
- Gilis : nous on était à Trawangan, et franchement on a adoré, bapteme de plongée dans des conditions top (depuis on est accros !)
- Amed : très sympa, plus sauvage effectivement... Seul endroit ou on a osé louer un scoot sans avoir l'impression qu'on allait se tuer !
- Pour le sud : passage un peu obligé mais franchement, l'interet est limité, Kuta j'ai trouvé ca atroce, Seminyak pas bcp mieux et Sanur sans plus...
Bon on a retravaillé l'itinéraire et la raison l'a emporté: on zappe Pemuteran, ce qui nous fait économiser 2 jours. Cela permet d'ajouter une journée de plus à Ubud(5 jours au total) et 1 jour à Amed(2 jours au total), et cela permet de moins bouger d'hotels.
Voici ce que cela donne:

Vendredi 16 avril: Journée ballade aux alentours du Lac et Mont Batur. Nuit à Ubud.
Lundi 19 avril: Ubud (Visite Parc Ornitologique puis Parc des Reptile). Nuit à Ubud
mardi 20 avril: Ballade au nord d’Ubud : mausolées et tombes royales de Sebatu(Guning Kawi), bassins eaux sacrésde Pura Tirtal Empul et promenade sur éléphants à Tora. Nuit à Ubud
Mercredi 21 avril: Route de Ubud vers Padangbai tôt le matin pour prendre le bateau vers Lombok(Port de Lembar). Nuit à Segara.
Jeudi 22 avril: Journée détente et découverte à Mataram et Segara. Nuit à Segara.
Vendredi 23 avril: Trek au Rinjani
Samedi 24 avril: Trek au Rinjani
Dimanche 25 avril: Trek au Rinjani et transfert à Senggigi pour bateau vers Iles Gili. Nuit à Gili Trawagan.
Lundi 26 avril: Gilis(Repos, plongée et snorkelling)Nuit à GiliTrawagan.
Mardi 27 avril: Gilis(Repos, plongée et snorkelling)Nuit à Gili Trawagan ou Gili Meno.

Subsistent 2 questions:
- On pensait louer une voiture du 1er jour jusque notre arrivée sur Ubud. A moins que les bemos soient vraiment réguliers, efficaces et fiables? Pour info, nous voyaegerons avec des sacs à dos.
- Dans quels villes/villages où nous passeront est-il plus intéressant de faire les achats(masques, statues...)?

pas testé les bemo, on a bcp circulé à pied, en taxi ou voiture avec chauffeur pr longs trajets. Conduire à Bali à vous de voir, moi je suis peut-etre froussarde mais j'oserais pas (surtout dans le sud de l'ile), le trafic est fou, le code de la route aléatoire...
Coté achats, j'ai fait les meilleurs achats à Ubud, pas forcément au marché que j'ai trouvé décevant mais dans d'autre petites boutiques (dont une top, qui était sur la route de la monkey forest, pas mal à l'cart après l'entrée si je me souvients bien... top affaires)

En tout cas, je ne peux que recommander ce fabuleux pays qu'est l'Indonésie, et notamment Bali!!!

Je souhaite au cours de mon voyage (voiture avec chauffeur) faire une étape départ Kubutambahan vers le sud -est en passant par Kintamani (pura ulun danu Batur) Penelokan et route vers Pura Besakih.
Je m'interroge sur le temps nécessaire(temps de route et temps de visite) et quel point de chute choisir proche de Besakih ? car je ne pense pas avoir le temps de rejoindre Amlapura!!

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).
I need some expert advice on these two destinations for a 15-day trip. We land in KL and plan to stay for 2 days before heading to Borneo and finishing with an island for snorkeling.
For those who’ve been, what are your must-sees?
We were thinking of spending the last 3 days on the Perhentian Islands, unless you’ve got another island to recommend near Borneo.

The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before.
