Alors je vais décomposer un peu...
14 juin, très bien tu as raison de te reposer le décalage horaire fatigue énormément et les nombreuses heures d'avion aussi. En soirée le diner de poissons sur la plage de Jimbaran éclairée par des bougies c'est top.
15 juin, Ulu Watu, chouette, fais juste gaffe les singes te piquent tout par contre! L'après midi, oublie Nusa Dua sérieusement! Choisis plutot une plage près d'Ulu Watu en remontant sur Jimbaran pour y faire du body board par exemple...
16 juin, visite de Denpasar, tu restes 3 semaines à peu près sur Bali, y'a certainement autre chose à faire que visiter Denpaasar! Rajoutes plutot une journée à Ubud pour aller te promener dans les magnifiques rizières aux alentours
Pour Kuta, met le plutot à la fin de ton voyage car c'est juste à côté de l'aéroport.
17 juin, Nusa Lembongan dans la journée tu ne vas pas trop en profiter si?! je trouve ça toujours plus sympa d'y passer une nuit.
Ensuite 3 nuits à Ubud, t'as bien détaillé ton programme, laisse toi peut être une petite part à l'improvisation...! Pour Ubud je te dis tu verras sur place mais ce que j'avais vraiment apprécié c'est les balades dans les environs d'Ubud (à pied, en scooter ou en voiture avec chauffeur à la journée selon tes envies) donc rajouter au moins une nuit...
2 nuits à Gili c'est rapide, j'espère que tu t'y rend en fast boat sinon t'auras pas du tout le temps, le trajet en ferry c'est très long et tu dois passer par Lombok.
J'avais choisi de loger sur Gili Air, très chouette pour le snorkelling, la plus jolie pour faire de la plage c'est de mon point de vue Gili Meno...En fait Trawalgan c'est celle que je ne connais pas donc je laisserai les autres forumistes te répondre!
Lovina au départ on pensait dormir làbas (par contre on ne voulait pas faire l'excursion des dauphins 😏, c'était plus pour rayonner de làbas...) mais ça ne nous a pas inspiré, on est resté 2/3 nuits à Amed et on n'a pas regretté, en + d'Amed tu peux rejoindre les iles Gilis.
Si j'ai un petit conseil c'est ne charge pas trop, tu veux trop prévoir et en fait sur place tu te rendras compte que d'aller d'un endroit à un autre à la journée c'est très facile et tu peux rester plus de nuits à un seul et même endroit et rayonner autour à la journée...
Pour les conseils d'hébergements, je peux te donner mes coups de coeurs, dis moi ton budget...
Avant que tu ne me réponde j'avai déja supprimer Nusa Lembongan de mon programme.
J'hésite a rajouter cette journée sur gili trawangan.
Concerant Denpasar et kuta penses-tu vraiment que cet une perte de temp.
Je voulai voire le marché aux oiseaux, un marché, un temple a visiter a denpasar.
Concerant Amed il me semble avoir lu qu'il n'est pas facile de trouver des moyens de se déplacer de la bas ?
est-il possible de se rendre direction lovina simplement et faire des allers-retour au parc national par exemple depuis Amed et que représente en temp les différents trajets. J'ai aussi lu qu' Amed n'était pas très intéressent.
Pour les hotels je recherche un hotel a Ubud pour 4 nuits, a gili trawangan pour 2 voire 3 nuits, ensuite ca n'est pas très clair je dois soit me trouver un hotel vers Amed et faire des déplacements soit me trouver des hotels sur la toute comme dit dans mon mnessage d'origine.
Mon budget pour l'hotel serait de max 40-50 euro j'imagine.
Ce que tu peux faire si Denpasar t'interesse c'est y aller sur le chemin entre Jimbaran et Ubud par exemple...si tu y vas avec une voiture avec chauffeur tu lui demandes de faire une étape à Denpasar, ainsi tu ne perdras pas de temps à faire l'aller retour depuis Kuta ou Jimbaran.
Je n'ai pas dit que Kuta était une perte de temps mais vas y plutot à la fin de ton séjour sur Bali avant de reprendre l'avion...par contre Kuta ce n'est pas typique Bali, l'avantage pour moi c'est juste qu'il y a de très bons restos et que tu es au bord de la mer (par contre beaucoup de vagues) mais si tu veux prendre des cours de surf sur une journée par exemple Kuta c'est bien. Mais pour moi le centre de Bali (Ubud, etc...) est + interessant mais c'est mon avis...et sur la fin de mon voyage j'avais passé 3 jours à Seminyak et ça m'avait plu mais ce n'est pas ce que j'ai préféré, on avait été voir Tanah Lot aussi.
Amed est tranquille et c'est vrai qu'à part louer un scooter pour te déplacer c'est pas très simple mais au moins tu n'es pas embêté avec les "transports, transports!?" d'Ubud c'est sur...
Et puis comme je t'ai dit après Amed tu peux filer sur les iles gilis et du coup tac tu n'as plus besoin de trouver un transport pour quitter Amed...
Mais je pense qu'il y a des voitures avec chauffeurs presque partout (toujours négocier évidemment ;-) )
Le parc national depuis Amed ça fait un peu loin là par contre...passe au moins une nuit à Permuteran pour en profiter.
Tu as un bon budget pour les hotels, moi j'avais moins mais je vais te donner celui d'Amed et celui de Seminyak en mp. Pour Ubud tu pourras te faire + plaisir que moi (même si pour le prix j'avais adoré l'hotel où on était)
Les temps de trajet, je pourrai pas tout te préciser car à chaque fois on faisait 2/3 étapes dans la journée où on s'arrêtait 1 ou 2h! Exemple pour la seule "grosse" journée qu'on a fait : Permuteran - Amed - 1 journée (départ vers 8h-8h30 - arrivée à Amed vers 16h30) mais 1h à Air Panas Banjar, 3/4h à Git Git, 1h à Yeh Sanih, 1h30 pour déjeuner etc...
Pour le 23 juin t'embete pas à te rendre à padangbai puis à Amed depuis gili, il y a des fastboats qui font gili-amed direct..
Le 20 juin pour te rendre aux gilis depuis padangbai vérifie qu il y a plusieurs bateaux par jour car le temps que tu arrives à Padangbai depuis ubud il n y en aura peut etre plus, sauf si tu prends le ferry qui lui t emmènes en plusieurs heures (5h dans mon cas mais je l ai fait ds l autre sens) sur lombok puis bus le long de la cote et petit bateau pour gili bref tu l auras compris ça prend la journée mais les bateaux rapides sont assez chers donc on avait juste fait l aller comme ça
Le 28 juin tu arriveras peut etre tard sur Kuta,

Je serai à Java et Bali les quatre premières semaine d'Août. Penses-tu qu'il soit absolument nécessaire de réserver des Hôtel ou Guest House ou bien trouverons-nous toujours quelque chose, sachant que nous ne sommes exigeant que sur la propreté et ne recherchons pas les palaces.
Quand je suis partie en aout- septembre 2009, je n avais réservé que le premier hébergement en arrivant, tout le reste je n ai pas réservé et je n'ai eu aucun hébergement complet sauf (sauf!) les dernières nuits pour repartir tout les hôtels étaient "full" sur kuta, legian, etc...( en même temps il était tard style 20h30, c est toujours mieux d' arriver en fin de matinée qd certaines chambres viennent peut etre de de libérer ) Le chauffeur de taxi disait que c était parceque c était le weekend bref on a pris un hôtel de catégorie au dessus du coup (que finalement on a payé 60 euros la nuit ce qui était + que notre budget !) je dirai que si tu veux absolument loger ds un endroit particulier t appelles 2 ou 3 jours avant et réserves ta première nuit en arrivant sur l ile et éventuellement les dernières mais pour moi ( et ça a pu changer depuis 2009) tu trouveras toujours quelque chose!

je ne sais pas si le culturel est très important pour toi, je veux dire connaître la vie des Balinais et un peu de leurs coutumes mais il est important de ne pas trop planifier, au risque de "faire" au lieu de " s'imprégner de la vie balinaise".
Ainsi, tu auras certainement l'occasion de participer à une fête dans un temple balinais. Absolument impressionnant et coloré, à ne pas louper.
A ta place, mais je n'y suis pas et ne connais pas tes gouts, si je veux découvrir Bali, je shunterais gaiement la Presqu'île de Bukit (Kuta & Co) pour visiter tout le reste de l'ile.
Padang Bai n'est pas qu'un port d'embarquement pour les Gilis (veut dire ile en balinais et il n'y a pas que les Gilis du Nord, il y en a d'autres moins touristiques), c'est aussi une petite ville bien vivante (Le Puri Rai est un hôtel agréable, nous n'avions pas réservé mais je crois qu'il est souvent plein, d'après ce que je viens de lire)
Voir Tirta Gangga, Kulngkung d'Amed mais Amed ne nous a pas emballé, sauf l'hôtel.

I’m currently working on a 30-day itinerary for May/June 2027.
10 days in eastern Java (Malang, Bromo, waterfalls, Meru Beriti Park, Banyuwangi, and Ijen), a short transit in Ubud for a few days, then Flores before heading back to Jakarta.
We’ll spend 15 days in Flores (the classic route: Moni, Bajawa, Riung, Ruteng, ending in Labuan Bajo).
I’d love some firsthand feedback on flights to Maumere or Ende from Bali Denpasar. I know there are no direct routes and that you have to connect through Labuan Bajo or Timor (I think), which isn’t an issue in itself.
But I’ve read here and there that flights to these destinations can be delayed—or worse, canceled—and that it’s better to fly in and out of Labuan Bajo, which isn’t exactly ideal...

I’d love to get some feedback on our itinerary—it’s probably pretty basic! This is our second trip to Asia and our first to Indonesia. We have three kids aged 20, 18, and 12. We land in Jakarta at 4 PM, spend 3 nights/2 days there, then take the train to Yogyakarta for 3 nights/2 days, followed by the train to Surabaya for 2 nights/1 day, then the train to Bromo for 1 day/1 night, a private driver to Ijen for 2 nights/2 days, then on to Bali (Ubud) for 4 nights/3 days, followed by Gili Air for 3 nights/2 days, Senggigi (Lombok) for 2 nights, and finally 5 nights in Kuta. I’m considering cutting the 2 nights in Senggigi to just keep Kuta and extend it to 7 nights. In Lombok, I’m not sure how to get around since I’m not comfortable with scooters... Your thoughts on all of this, and any advice, are more than welcome—don’t hesitate!
For those wondering why cities like Jakarta and Surabaya: we don’t often get the chance to visit big Asian cities, so we wanted to include that discovery in our trip. The trains between Jakarta and Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Probolinggo are booked. The return flight from Lombok to Jakarta is also set. Accommodations are booked but flexible (same for the trains).

I didn’t plan to return to Thailand this year, but my health conditions mean it’ll be the best place for me to stay between two trips to India. The tourism setup there is so well-organized that it’s the most "comfortable" country for a short visit. Thailand feels too sanitized for my taste, and there’s too much religion, Buddha, and the King, but it’s still the best option given how my health has been evolving. I’d considered two weeks in ThaTon for hiking, but I got too sick from the burn-offs during my trips to the mountains around Chiang Rai. So I’m not sure where to go this year. Definitely not the sea, touristy spots, or the mountains with burn-offs...

In 1996, we crossed Vietnam from Saigon to Hanoi by motorbike—Minsk bikes we bought in Saigon. I haven’t been back since, and it seems like a lot has changed.
- We’re heading to the south (well, the north and center) with the family in July-August (3 people).
- Is the road network more developed now? Back then, there was only National Route 1 from south to north. I’m thinking of renting a car this time (no motorbike with the family—though in ’96, they had a Jawa sidecar for sale, and we hesitated… maybe it’s for the best).
- Is Halong Bay really something to avoid because of overtourism? Even back then, it was pretty crowded. Is there a less touristy alternative?
- We’ll be traveling from Hanoi down to Danang (the only city we didn’t stop in back in ’96). Even though it’s a bit overhyped in a Chinese-tourist kind of way (from what I’ve read), we’re only going for the beach—pure relaxation for 7 days. The beaches are stunning, and I know the South China Sea is warm like coffee.
- Then, we’ll visit Hoi An, where I stopped in ’96. It was already popular with backpackers back then, but no glowing boats or all the touristy fuss!
- After that, Hue, where I have great memories—it’s a beautiful city.
- And also the nature around Ninh Binh, followed by 2-3 days in Hanoi.
That’s the plan. I’d love to hear any tips to avoid mass tourism, and if anyone’s done this before:
- Is it possible to rent a car in Danang and drop it off in Hanoi?

I’m struggling to wrap up the end of my itinerary, even though it’s pretty straightforward (long but simple).
Last year, we did Malaysia (KL and the mainland + around Kuching).
Day 1 – Arrive in Kota Kinabalu early, stroll around town and hit the must-sees.
Day 2 – Excursion to Tunku Abdul Rahman Park, snorkeling at 3 islands.
Day 3 – Hike around Mount Kinabalu without summiting (450 per person, no way).
Day 4 – Poring Hot Springs + evening flight to Sandakan.
Day 5-6-7 – Kinabatangan River (still looking for the right guide).
Day 8 – Sepilok for the orangutans, the Sun Bear Centre, and Rainforest Discovery Centre.
Day 9 – Selingan, turtle island.
Day 10 – Head to Semporna.
Day 11-12-13-14 – Sipadan, Mabul, Kapalai.
Day 15 – Bohey Dulang.
Day 16 to Day 25: I’M STUCK.
I looked into Danum Valley, but for 3 days/2 nights, they’re quoting 650 € per person—come on, that’s ridiculous.
I checked out a detour into Indonesia (still East Borneo), but I’m having trouble deciding what would be amazing.
I read about Sangalaki + Kakaban (2 islands, 1 base) / Mahakam Delta - Kutai (orangutans and river) / Sungai Boh (Dayak Kayan) – jungle & culture.
But honestly, I’m struggling to finalize this itinerary.
If we venture that way, we’d head back to KK from Balikpapan.
For a 4-month stay in Egypt, I had ENORMOUS problems. The regulations are very bureaucratic and extremely nitpicky there. For a 4-month stay in the Philippines, I was wondering if the procedures are just as complicated? I’m bringing my cell phone with an eSIM. Should I choose a plan from Canada for use in the Philippines, or should I get a plan only once I arrive? After 30 days, do I renew with the Canadian provider I chose before leaving, or do I switch to a local company? Do I need to register my phone with the authorities in the Philippines? (That was the case in Egypt.) For the 3rd and 4th months, will it be just as simple—renewing with a Canadian or local provider—or should I expect problems?

We like to decide things on the spot and go with the flow, without rushing everywhere. But I’m still a bit unsure: when heading down to the center (Hue), is it better to book the overnight trains in advance? We don’t want to take any flights while we’re there—just use the overnight train for the long trips. But I’m worried we won’t get seats if we buy the tickets on the spot, say, 2 days before. For those familiar with SOUTHEAST ASIA, I'm planning to leave in mid-June (with the trip ending at the latest in November), and I don’t have a precise idea of exact places or itineraries yet. The thing is, this period is usually the rainy season...
Any advice? I was thinking of Malaysia or Indonesia, like Sulawesi, for example (all countries and islands in Southeast Asia interest me except Bali).
Any recommendations? I’m doing my research online, but if anyone here has the time and knowledge, I’d love to hear from you.
